Was there several months ago. I ordered coffee; they don't have 1/2 and 1/2, just phony mini containers of non dairy creamers. When I asked for cream I got a stare from the waitress and she brought a small glass of milk. Really? Otherwise the food was fine. We will try it again but won't order coffee unless there is 1/2 and 1/2.

Food was really good and reasonable price for breakfast. I had the Belgian waffle with straw berries and whip cream. I was expecting fresh strawberries but they were preservative strawberries. The texture of my waffle was a bit too mushy for me. My friend had the French Toast with blue berries. The blue berries were very small but still tasty. We also had the gravy and biscuit. The half portion was pretty big. Gravy and biscuit was nice warm and creamy.

I'm not sure what the bad reviews are all about here but I have been here twice and I am pretty particular about who I give 4 and 5 star reviews to. The first time I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap which I odered extra spicy. It arrived hot, fresh, and fried to tasty crispy perfection. The second time I had a salad topped with chilli. It was fresh, seasoned well, and both times the service was quick and super friendly....not to mention it was spotless both times including the restrooms. We will definitely be back. Portions and prices are good too.

Popi's was recommended by one of their Servers. I met at a local store. Great suggestion. There breakfast on weekends is crowded the GOOD NEWS. It's either hit or miss, when it comes to the "Crowded". Don't let that Stop You. Kari took care of us. She is friendly, efficient and rolls your food out. In a timely manner. Even when the place is rocking. When it comes to my Fav of Sections with the breakfast meal. I go for the 2 eggs(I generally prefer poached, egg substitute may be a little more($). That's fine by me. FYI, egg sub. works great w/Omelettes:-) This includes, choices of the starch(Home Fries, etc.) Their Home Fries are EXCELLENT. The Fresh Potato is Shaved in thin long strands. Savory, mild no overpowering onions. Some crispy. Perfect balance. Of course, you get toast(I pass on it. No Gluten Free Bread:-( The STAR IS THEIR SAUSAGES. They are very thick. Euro/UK Style. Mention to your server. You'd like your sausages, fresh moist not overcooked. Communication Is Priceless. Makes for a better experience. They have a great menu. Lots of specials Featured. They work w/you on substituting if what is listed does not suit your needs. Enjoy:-)))

If you love diners this is the place to go. Very family feel to it. Amazing biscuits and gravey. Lots on the plate and biscuits are very soft. French Toast and pancakes are huge. They even have mimosas!

This place is fine but there is nothing special about it. I guess if you like a home cooked fried meal this would be a bad place for you. It's just not my style.

Tried Popi's the first time the other day. Our group of 4 went during non peak hours and got a seat right away. Open layout, kind of loud, but it felt comfortable. Large special list and menu full of the usual breakfast and diner fare. Our server took a while getting to us, but she was handling a large section or tables. Wanted to order a fun salad but was told unapologetically they only had iceberg lettuce left that day. No romaine at all? Walmart was next door...The food was decent, got a French toast breakfast combo, with some epic sized loaded potato wedges off the special list. 3.5 stars for food but wow the service stunk. I'm not a needy guest, and have worked in food service for a long time, so I'm probably more lenient than most. But the apathy in which our server treated us, had me feeling like everything was an inconvenience, that she would rather stand by the bar and talk to coworkers rather than glance over to see me trying to get her attention..(forgot to bring a water even after being reminded). Maybe it was just a rough morning for her, and maybe the other servers are great.. But I won't be giving Popi's another try.

I never give 5 stars cause I know there is always room for improvement . Popi's was very nice . Clean , lots of choices, very friendly staff. I ordered Chicken Parmesan and the manager felt the Chicken wasn't big enough. So made me a bigger piece in addition to to the one I had. It shows a restaurant that is thinking about their clients. I am looking forward to trying the Fish and Chips I saw many orders go by it looked great! They serve Breakfast here . I want to try that also. I totally recommend Popi's Place on the Ranch

And barely two stars. Sitting in a big open space we had the turkey special and gyro. Pita bread was dry but contents decent. Turkey was like something from can or next door from Walmart.. yellow gravy was like a popped open jar. Turkey ear like turkey loaf. Would not recommend. We knew they were in several locations and popular near McKetchnie but didn't enjoy this visit. Atmosphere seemed geared towards the Walmart crowd, not or cup of tea.

Bad service and the food sucks. I would rather go to McDonalds. When this place first opened, I thought it was good. But since then the food has gone downhill. Today was terrible. STAY AWAY!!!!!

Went on a Friday night. Waitress was rude and we didn't get rolls or jelly for our Monte Christo. We've started to go here because the Popi's on 301 is getting old and dirty, but we will avoid this waitress. I only gave a 10% tip and I usually give 20% for good service!

Last Sunday 7/20/2014 I received SEVERE food poisoning that took me down for 5 days. It was so bad I ended up in the hospital due to dehydration. I called the manager who said the owner would call me. No call. I take this as they could care less if they are the source of food poisoning. The strand is called Norwalk virus. I was the last or one of the last persons served and I ordered eggs and country fried steak with a biscuit. This food poisoning is a horrid one and I know they are the source as that is the only place I went that day and ate at. The manager did not even apologize and really this virus can kill someone. BE WARE!!! Read about it here: foodsafety.gov/poisoning… The owners don't care to follow up so take care of yourself! UPDATE owner called yelling after he saw this post and told me I needed to listen to him AFTER his place of business put me in the hospital. SO unprofessional. If this is how much they care about customers... being rude and yelling to them when they injure you, this place won't be open for long! Update again: owner text me he is calling the cops for reviewing his restaurant poorly. This guy is nuts!!! Told me I had the stomach flu. Sorry, I spoke to the Drs and it's contracted by food or sick servers/cooks!!! I also have it in writing from Lakewood Ranch Hospital. This guy will take 0 ownership. Proof .. they do not care if they injure you!

This is a no frills but plenty of food on you plate kind of place. The daily specials are home cooked recipes that can be very good. Some one in the kitchen does care but it feels like home cooking rather than chef knowledge. That's not bad but have to know what to expect . I love there stuffed cabbage , the meatloaf and the sandwichs. The spaghetti is Americanized but you might like it that was. The place is clean and you can get beer and wine.. The breakfasts are good too but the casserole potatoes are high calorie. The prices and good and you will get a decent meal. This is not top chef but good.

It was the first time at Popi's and we all were pleasantly surprised. First, it was real busy for lunch. People just kept coming in. Second the food was a good deal for the money. The breakfast items are good and the pancakes are real good. The two people that had burgers really enjoyed them. One of our group had chili and loved it. This is not a fancy place, but is more like a local place you would see in small towns. Good size menu and lots of specials. Well trained wait staff. We would all go back.

Took my little superhero here for breakfast on just a week day. Service was fast and nice. The place is clean and sharp looking. I knew the food was going to be good, because I've eaten at their other locations. It's nice to have a good, locally owned place open up in a center filled with chains. :) Keep it up Popi!

Yuck! How is it this place has over 5 other locations? The food is below average, if anything just focus on breakfast and lunch, the dinner is horrible... Why is it we can't get a decent restaurant on st rd 70?? Everything is sub par.. Disappointing for sure...

Poor service, sub par food compared to other locations. Also since it is in Lakewood Ranch they charge more than the other locations. When I asked why they cost more than the online menu they just said "That's just how it is." I will never go back there ever again.

Double check your to go orders! I got a greek salad and upon picking it up I asked to confirm that there was salad dressing in the bag to which they said yes. So... I left only to find no salad dressing and only part of a greek salad. Back I went and they did fix it but double check before you leave so you don't have to make a second trip!

Big, Big Disappointment. If I am not mistaken, Popi's established their reputation on being a Greek style restaurant. Even with menu changes, their Ellenton site still served moussaka, pastichio, spinoptaka, etc... The Lakewood Ranch has ZERO. Only thing that might be called Greek is the Greek Salad and the Gyro. The service was indifferent and the owner was having a staff meeting in the corner, berating his staff while there were several diners present. I think this is one place too much for the chain. It is not a place I was encouraged to try again and I won't.
