We went last night for the first time on the recommendation of friends. We walked in at 7:55. The woman behind the register just stood there looking at us and shaking her head. We were talking among ourselves while looking around and at first didn't realize that she hadn't actually said anything. After a few minutes of this, she rather rudely informed us that they close at 8:30. She then went back to doing what ever she was doing back there and we left. If that's the best service this place can offer a group of hungry adults, then were were probably better off going somewhere else anyway. Maybe she saved us from additional disappointment...

Seriously mediocre, but the elderly seem to love it. If you like boring, predictable food made with margarine, this place is for you. I go here waay too often with my elderly father, and hold out hope they may someday clean the place. If you like too tough to chew fake prime rib, viciously over cooked gray vegetables, very watery rice pudding and banana pudding that is super-hot because the person behind the dessert counter has no idea what it actually is, and has turned up the steam table for it, you're in luck. One bright spot here was I once stumbled on delicious handmade tamales, but that was just once, and a while back. Also, their short ribs are good. It depresses me to go there, the decor is so dark, dingy and sad and full of old people. They always post the world's slowest cashier at the front desk, which just adds to the lack of ambiance. When my dad passes, I'll never go there again.

I understand the idea of having home style food including fried chicken, green beans, corn on the cob. But everything I tried barely had any taste at all and don't even get me started on the mac & cheese...I mean how do you screw up mac & cheese. We went for lunch and based on our dining neighbors you could tell there was an unwritten age rule..."55 and over". My sweet tea was okay though.

I'm typically not a fan of buffets or buffet food. Eating mediocre food straight from a trough usually doesn't sit right with me, and I start envisioning the customers as pigs dressed in people clothes a la Animal Farm. However, I am five months pregnant, and we just moved across the country. Mucho activity plus a growing fetus sapping away all of my life forces made visiting a buffet seem like a stellar idea. My partner and I tried a little of just about everything, and the only dish that was a true terror happened to be the "chicken enchiladas". Picture this: a flour tortilla filled with cubed potatoes and shredded chicken. Feeling hesitant? Don't worry, they pour cheap canned red sauce over the top and sprinkle on some low end cheese. We were baffled by the bizarre addition of potato cubes, but it was worth trying for the laughs. The chicken tamales were surprisingly good, but maybe could have used some potato cubes to liven them up a bit. (My sweetheart is Hispanic, and was scared to eat one at first, but he admitted that they were far better than he ever would have guessed that they would be) My favorite part of the meal happened to be the cherries and cream ice cream (actual ice cream, not that soft serve bullhonky- although they have that too) and the peanut butter pie. Ok place to go if you want to eat a whole bunch of so-so food like a real American. I'd give it two and a half stars normally, but the pregnancy has bumped it up to perhaps three. Der Dutchman, the popular buffet in Sarasota, is maybe a half star better.

Service was exceptional. Joyce and Tony were right there. Since this is a buffet, they did not preform a traditional server role, however, drinks always full, dishes removed immediately, and they were very friendly. The food was very good. With a buffet, gourmet is not expected. It is not a gourmet place. However, all the dishes were hot and tasty. The salads were quite varied and a great selection (although the cheese was on a different bar) with a good variety with coleslaw, potato salad (3 kinds), and macaroni salad.

Nothing to complain about, and nothing to write home about either. As expected for buffet food, and the place was clean and food was fresh. Not necessarily full of flavor, but there was a lot to choose from and the desserts were good too!

I was looking around online for information on this place, but there was nothing to be found other than some so-so reviews. And, just reading reviews with no photos can lead you off into dangerous territory... The parking lot is always slammed with cars and the marquee claims that they have fried fish, so I figured I would give it a try. Just from everything I read, I assumed that it was a country buffet and that most of the items were homemade. Neither are true. The food is, in fact, as American and up-tight as a housewife from the Mid-West. With a refined touch, don't get me wrong. I was the only diner here under the age of 65, but it was all friendly faces. The Macaroni and Cheese does have real cheddar in it, but it is straight out of the Stouffer's box. The Mashed Potatoes go as far as to put fake red skins in them, but they are still made from a powder mix. The gravy, too. However, don't let that detour you from devouring other carnivorous delights served to you in shiny troughs like; Fried Chicken, Rotisserie Chicken, and Buffalo Chicken Fingers. Avoid anything that is not American classics like Tacos, Spaghetti, or Eggrolls- it is just wrong. They did manage to make the Meatloaf disgusting, but I don't know how that happened. The things to come here for then? Well, the salad bar is clean, fresh, and frankly badass. Salad and dessert are pretty much _it_ for me at Duff's. The dessert bar is a never-ending parade of sugary cakes, pies, and self-serve ice cream. All brought to you in a dimly-lit romantic setting. There is a slide front fridge full of assorted baked goods on tiny little plates. Just that fridge alone is worth the $10. Bring the girls and have a tea party. But, the tea will be served in textured plastic red cups- only served as a cold and sweet iced beverage.

We came here late around 8:40pm and they close at 9pm, we hurried and took as many choices as we could, we were both very dissapointed of the food quality and flavor, food tasted old, salty, yuky, weird not good at all. we left there as fast as we could, we never come back... sorry, bút they should close this place down. Seriously.

MMMMMM........Coty's review of the Sarasota Duff's evoked fond memories of another Duff's in Tallahassee....and the smell/image of yeast rolls and baked chicken. Her phrase "shiny troughs" says it all and now I need to sample the Sarasota version as well on next visit. I will prepared to flash my AARP membership card, and sign the waiver about possible cholesterol overload.

This place sucks, food is bad service is slow and there not much to offer! I started with salad and it was mostly brown had to pick though to find fresh salad, baked chicken is dry and my wife had fried chicken and there was more grease than chicken! Our waitress was nice but took over 5 minutes to get our drinks. The lady at the front Wasnt freindly and didn't even said hello. Anyway stay far away this place is bad!

Food was awful and lukewarm at best. The only thing that was good was the bread and the salad. Save your money and go to golden coral instead.

Huge buffet! Good southern cooking, clean and waitress was good. Worth the money even though it was a little more expensive then other buffets in the area. Great southern cooking.

I like to "power eat" two or three times a year at a traditional all you can gorge buffet. This Duff's is attractively decorated and spacious, which is a real plus when walking back to your table balancing your overflowing plate. There is a full and complete salad bar along with the choice of three hot soups. I started with the Broccoli Cream soup and was impressed how good it tasted. The hot entrees offered are in a couple of different styles; traditional American style with carved to order roast beef and ham (both were very good), fried chicken, ribs etc. Then a large amount of Mexican fix'ins, a grand choice of various Italian dishes, and finally a country style area with delicious fried fish, black eyed peas, collards, mac & cheese along with various styles of beef and chicken. Finish the meal with a huge array of great looking and tasting desserts. Everything here appears and tastes homemade; the food areas are kept constantly filled and immaculately clean. Our server (plate clearer / water refiller) was prompt, friendly and helpful. Dinners here are $9.49 each with an extra charge for drinks other than water. Thanks to my common sense wife (read: normal eater) for allowing me my bi-annual (quarterly?) stuff feast and thanks to Duff's for doing this type of foodservice as nicely as it can be done.

A clean, abundant, reasonably-priced slice of American overindulgence. The food was good (ignore previous reviewer's warning on the meat loaf - it was quite good and on par with Cracker Barrel). The staff was friendly and attentive. A large array of vegetables and salads, a nice spread of entrees, an impressive offering of desserts and being packed at lunch time speaks to this being a worthy place to make a regular stop on your road to obesity.

Love going here and sitting in Jewel's station. She has worked there thirty something years and says everyday is her sweet 16 birthday. I think she's in her 80's. love her!!
