Good appetizers. We sat in the bar and ate the ceviche sampler which was very good. We also had stone crab which was average.

Came here with some business associates during a week long conference at the Hyatt. It was by far the best restaurant food at the resort. A table of 6 of us ordered a sampler of the ceviche- which I have never tried before- it was a pleasant start. Very flavorful and light way to start the meal. We all ordered fish entrées. I had the pan seared grouper over white and green asparagus. It was cooked great, very light and flavorful. A friend ordered the Red Snapper entrée that was a whole fished curled up on his plate and looked amazing. He said it tasted spectacular. I'm not sure what everyone else ordered but I am sure they all enjoyed it. One complaint was that we ordered wine for the table and the waitress did not bring it out until we started on dinner... overall though it was a great experience.

I was really pleased with my recent experience at Tarpon Bay! In addition to regular dining, you can sit in a part of the bar where they are prepping some of the seafood items. This was awesome for us, because the super friendly guy working back there was happy to answer questions about the menu, and also hooked us up with a few samples. The rest of the staff was equally attentive, knowledgeable and pleasant. I liked the atmosphere, & while it was fresh and bright and indeed, even beachy- I didn't find it to be casual. There was live music the night we were there and a moderate crowd. I will definitely return, and I would give this 4+ stars. I am only holding back the 5th star for now, because while everything ordered was beautifully presented, tasty and the correct temperature, the only thing that was incredibly delicious was my martini and oysters on the half shell. The rest was GOOD for sure, but not phenomenal... I plan on returning to try some of the other menu items.

Great food. Wonderful and attentive service. Beautiful surroundings. What more could you ask for? We found this restaurant by chance. It's a little off the beaten path, but well worth the search. We ordered the Lobster Pot 2-person special. It was terrific. Fresh seafood and delicious with a good wine. Highly recommend trying out this restaurant deep inside the Hyatt. More people should know about this one.

The positives: Our server was outstanding. The outdoor dining area was comfortable and lovely. The not so positives: The food...meh. The fish was rubbery and the sauces they served with them unremarkable. The vegetables were overdone and tough...sort of like you expect at a large banquet. The menu looks awesome but the chef is not getting it done. The quality of the food did not match the prices and who wants mediocre seafood at any price. We were really disappointed because we really would like another place to eat good seafood. Our search continues.

This is my second visit. I like the ambiance and the service, but the food underwhelms for the price.

I love the food at Tarpon Bay. Although located in the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point, I consider it a good restaurant that happens to be located in a hotel, not a hotel restaurant. Prices are moderate to high and the menu is interesting and everything is delicious. They have a ceviche bar serving pristine fish and all of their 8 offerings are wonderful. They have an interesting and flavorful take on Caesar salad, serving it with parmesan, garlic crostini, tomato, and fried white anchovies. Their signature dish is crispy whole snapper with wok seared vegetables and ponzu sauce. I've also had herbal goat cheese crusted snapper with cannellini bean and clam ragout. I thought the goat cheese might be a bit strong for the snapper but all the flavors were harmonius. They have very crabby crab cakes and respectable tuna tataki. The Florida lobster pot is delicious, as are the flatbreads. Homemade ice creams are a great way to end the meal. Friendly service is smooth and polished. An underrated hidden gem.

Although this is a seafood spot, I was lured by the pork chop, which was thick and tasty, if a bit too sweet. The strawberry salad was excellent. My husband raved about the lobster macaroni and cheese appetizer and the goat cheese encrusted snapper. Restaurant staff are super friendly and helpful. We relaxed on the screened in veranda, as the dining room was a bit too over air conditioned for our taste.

On this trip we ate there 8 nights for dinner, all but 1 night (we were in Naples) but we came back for dessert that night! They have THE best key lime pie that has oreo crust! A MUST! The Pastry Chef is "Stephen" and he is THE greatest with desserts. He created beautiful desserts as well as his plating! He really knows how to create a beautiful plate too! After eating there night after night and talking with all of the Chefs, Stephen made me a special dessert that I could have with my allergy list! (they noticed I didn't order a desserts for me) IT WAS AMAZING and so special. THANK YOU STEPHEN! About my allergies: They were amazing working with me. HUGE thank you to: "Tyler" one of the chef supervisors who talked with me every night to oversee my order with my allergy list. To "Richard McCaw" who made my amazing allergy dinner each night. To "Tyrone" who made my amazing garlic fingerlings for me! To "Francis" that was the Ceviche Intern and worked right there where we sat and so we talked with him every evening. We miss you Francis! Thank you for everything! To "Richard Boston" who makes the snapper...we didn't eat any but loved watching him make them...they were a hot item on the menu! I think "Tyler" is the one who made the GROUPER for my hubby night after night, HE LOVED IT! "Dan" was always working hard and I made sure to say thank you to him too! "Dan" and "Roman" also helped with our meals. And again to Francis who always got a kick out of the length of time my hubby took to pick out his meal, always knowing he would order the same grouper in the end! To "Florian Ratz" the Tarpon Bay Manager who took the time to stop and say hello...he worked hard right along with the entire staff. Our servers were Ryann, Henry, Josh, Luis, Ray, Eddie and Suzanne. Suzanne for a few nights....great service Suzanne and she also came to say hello even when she wasn't our server as did Josh. Super service! Our food was GREAT every night!

A must!!! We went here the first night to start our vacation! The decor is very beachy which is so fitting! We sat outside on the deck (screened in and overlooking the water= less bugs!) to start we ordered the cerviche sampler which was amazing! Their margaritas and Mojitos were also a favorite! For Dinner we had pan seared red snapper with potatoes (the sauce it comes for is unique and an unbelievable pairing), bacon wrapped grouper, the lazy mans lobster (pre shelled and melts in your Mouth), and blackened grouper which were all fantastic options! Finally for dessert we got the rum cake ( the hubby loved it but it is not my thing) and key lime Pie which was supposing key classy and tasty!! Enjoy

Great dinner and very special evening at Tarpon Bay. It is in the Hyatt Hotel, so hotel prices are to be expected. We celebrated a birthday dinner The food was very good, we had the whole snapper ($45) but shared it. Also the special which was a 5oz filet and shared pot of lobster, clams, potatoes, corn on the cob and more. It was very tasty and included a wine flight (St. Michelle) ($85). Desserts were excellent and they gave us Norman Love chocolates too For a special occasion, where price is no object this is an excellent choice.

I didn't make it out of town for Thanksgiving so I took my family's recommendation and headed to a nearby hotel. The Hyatt Regency is a very nice resort style hotel in Bonita Springs and overlooks one of the bays just off the Gulf of Mexico. I'd never been here before and wandered around and asked the staff about the restaurants on the property. From there I walked over to the Tarpon Bay restaurant and was happy to find that the chef had prepared a real Thanksgiving feast. Everything from the butternut squash soup to the turkey and dressing was nicely prepared. I think perhaps my favorite thing was the arugula salad with hints of cranberry and a nice blue cheese. The meal was finished off with two Norman Love chocolates that went well with my coffee. The staff was friendly and very attentive and made my Thanksgiving away from family a little brighter. I now want to go back and try some of their seafood and other items as the menu looked really good. After your meal, I suggest that you have a nice stroll around the grounds and pretend that you're William Randolph Hearst at San Simeon.

After a long day of training my coworkers and I who were jonsin (term Jonsin means craving, FYI) for some seafood and were lucky enough to find the Tarpon Restaurant located on the actual Hyatt Regency Coconut Point property. We were able to duck the need for reservations by sitting at the Ceviche bar, covered in white marble tops surrounding a personal chef making the freshest seafood you could possibly order. Atmosphere was great, very clean, service was almost too friendly and the view we had into the kitchen reminded me of an episode of the Iron Chef! The menu was reasonable with most entrees in the mid 20's, apps at around 8-10$ and an amazing desert menu which highlighted their special creme brule! I ordered the Black & White Sesame Crusted Wild Salmon and was BLOWN away how good it was! I followed it up with some Vanilla nut ice cream and an Irish Coffee! I would recommend this place to anyone in the area...the food is delicious and the presentation is superb! I would also recommend their Chipino if your into a seafood bisq with chuncks of clams, fish, scallops, shrimp etc...rockin!

I couldn't believe I was going to eat in a hotel after living here for 14 years. with out a doubt, this is the finest seafood restaurant in the area. The ceviche is unexcelled. Had the snapper which was excellent. Everything was great but the serving time. It took too long get fed after ordering. This was the only thing to keep it from getting 5 stars. They also take reservations during season so no waiting

We had dinner here one night while staying at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point. It was kind of an anomaly -- the restaurant has this sort of casual, beach-y, kid-friendly, shorts & tees kind of vibe... yet the entrees run upwards of $40. I don't know, that just seemed odd to me. That aside, both the food and the service were exceptional. We were greeted upon arrival by both the manager and hostess. On the way to our table, the hostess took the time to explain their house specialties, which were primarily ceviche. Our server arrived quickly and was friendly, efficient, and helpful throughout the meal. And the manager, I believe his name was Howard, appeared later in the meal to make sure we were satisfied. Actually, so did the hostess! The meal started with warm bread served with both butter and an awesome green-olive tapenade. So yummy. We skipped appetizers since they were available to us on the club level of the resort, and went right to entrees. My husband had the ahi tuna with a side of roasted white & green asparagus. It was super-fresh and perfectly prepared (rare!). I had pan-seared diver scallops with a lemon-butter sauce & a side of Gorgonzola risotto. OMG, the scallops were So. Good. And they were HUGE. Honestly, I only ordered the risotto as a side because I expected to get 3-4 medium-sized scallops and would need something filling with it. Instead I received 5 ginormous scallops and could only manage a few bites of the (very, very cheesy) risotto. Likewise, my husband was also surprised by the very generous portion size of his tuna. Oh, and my kid LOVED his pb&j. ;) So with regard to the prices, the food quality definitely justifies them, they just seem a bit out of place in that setting.

The ceviche sampler is absolutely delicious! I got the lobster, red snapper & tuna; all of which were amazing! The service was fantastic (Thank you Candice) and the patio dining was really nice! I live in California but would absolutely recommend to anyone within 50 miles! So worth it!

There was nothing I didn't like about this restaurant although it was not an "unbelievable" experience either. The ceviche appetizers were awesome, though kind of on the small side at 1.5 ounces each. We had 3 and they were all excellent. We had a flat bread that was fair. We were disappointed that it wasn't really on a flat bread unless you consider thin sliced bread to be flatbread. So it ended up being more like an upscale grilled cheese because of that. We shared a whole fried snapper which was really good...cooked perfectly...nice and fluffy consistency and HUGE. The veggies that came with it were just okay, although in them was some Brocolli Rabe that was awesome. We had two salads...a Caesar and a Tarpon Bay Salad...they were good, not very big, slightly better than average, but not mind blowing. The service was excellent which definitely contributed to the experience.

For a fish place, the grouper and snapper were over cooked and freshness was questionable. Certainly overpriced for the lack of quality. I'm in Florida for vacation and this seafood was quite disappointing for an establishment that is a stones throw away from the Gulf!

Genre for rating: upscale seafood I have had mixed visits at Tarpon Bay. Seafood is clearly the MO, I'm just not sure the price tag fits the quality. The seafood dishes can at times be over-complicated. They have some interesting seafood finds, but sometimes negate the catch with trying to hard with the pairings or sauces. I also had water spilled on my lap on one of my visits, and then the waitress graciously tried to dry it off my pants. Service overall was pretty slow. What I have: seafood as simply as I can have it Best bet: go if you have a coupon or reduced pricing and are in the mood for seafood. Not worth it at full price.

Been several times now and always a fantastic experience. Great seafood & Daily chef specials are typically excellent. We sit at little bar overlooking open kitchen and service is always above great. Prices for a resort restaurant are on par with other local places and meals here have surpassed local places charging more. Love it

We booked Tarpon Bay for a Christmas Eve family dinner, as it was close and we had been here a few times while our in-laws stayed here. We are native floridians and know our fish! Rudy, our waiter made what would have been a good evening, Great! We had appetizers of spinach salad, coconut shrimp and Fantastic Lobster Mac and Cheese ( only wish it was Florida lobster) . Our entrees consisted of salmon ( a bit undercooked due to it's thickness, but they happily cooked it a bit more) , blackened grouper, bacon wrapped grouper with risotto , and the whole Red Snapper ( excellent presentation and easily shared) . All our dishes were outstanding and fresh! The wine list was good and we shared a very reasonably priced ($55) 2012"Rodney Strong" Cabernet ..... Our evening left us full of great memories and a special thanks to Rudy ...our Jamaican waiter! We will, definitely return !

Settling in our Bay Suite after check in, it was time to grab dinner. It was getting late and after a long drive there was no way we were getting back into the car. Tarpon Bay is HRCP's casual 'beach-cottage vibe' restaurant serving up some local seafood fare. We started off with cocktails at the bar, complete with live jazz. Once seated, we had a dozen oysters to start. Warm bread came out with butter and an olive tapenade. Our entrees included: Diver Scallops - pan-seared medium with lemon-butter sauce and accompanied with mascarpone & sweet corn risotto; grilled bacon-wrapped Grouper, also with the risotto. The service was attentive; Henry took good care of us, even though we arrived a few minutes before closing time. For a hotel restaurant, it didn't feel like we were in a hotel since it was separate from the main lobby area.

It was a light night. I only dined on ceviche and a side dish. This ceviche is not ceviche. It's a kind of Caribbean-esque thing with half ounce of actual seafood in it; maybe half an ounce. In fact it's a tiny ramekin of mango and thing other than seafood. Hands down the worst ceviche I've eve had. I tend to frequent Peruvian restaurants so I may have a reasonable perspective. The kale side dish was uninspired, at best. Can't say anything about the rest of the menu. Otherwise, the space is nice. The service is very accommodating and polite. But as for their alleged specialty... Stay away.

Just had a great dinner experience. The restaurant is beautiful, service from Lisa was excellent and the food was delicious! I had the ceviche trio and the quinoa risotto with blackened shrimp. For dessert the cookies and Milk was the perfect way to end our meal. Will return to sample the rest of the menu.

My husband and I decided to eat here since we were staying at the Coconut Plantation for the weekend. We went on a Thursday night around 9pm and the place seemed empty. The decor is very casual so we were surprised to see it was actually similar to a FINE dinning restaurant (my phone had died so I didn't have a chance to Yelp it before getting there). Candace was our server and she was super friendly, she even gave us suggestions of bars to attend since we kind of wanted a dink after dinner. For dinner we had the small lobster mac and cheese which was amazing and just the right size for us two. I also ordered the grilled salmon with the pineapple sauce and side of mashed potatoes. Amazing!!! We didn't order dessert because we were stuffed but the check came with two key lime chocolates in the shape of shells that were delicious! Definitely worth the nice dime we spent.

Have dined here many times over the years, but will probably not return after last night! Arrived for 9:15 reservation after having appetizers at the lobby lounge. Once seated, our server arrived to take orders- but seemed miffed that we were only ordering entrees and wine. Wife and daughter had lobster Mac and cheese; I had bacon wrapped grouper with risotto. Mac and cheese seemed to go over well. However, while grouper was cooked perfectly, the burnt bacon gave it a smoky flavor that made it inedible. Risotto was a flavorless vegetable hash served with three tough spears of asparagus. Absolutely no seasoning (i.e., what happened to salt??) on any of my dinner's components. Very disappointing! Our server tried to make up for the dinner fiasco by offering to replace my entree, but with such long waits for food (and the time now being 10:40), I appreciated his gesture and declined (he was, after all, charming). Skipped desserts due to the time, although they looked great. Sad to say that, with each subsequent meal here I've seen the quality of the food decline. Last nights entree took the cake- not sure we will give this another chance.

What a nice little spot in Bonita Spring's Hyatt hotel. I had made reservations for this place about a week before we headed for our conference. Thanks to the wonderful Yelp reviews, I knew this would be somewhere where business discussions could take place -- and delicious food and wine could be consumed. My favorite menu item? The lobster mac and cheese. Delish! This was my first lobster mac and cheese experience, and I was so impressed. And I want more now. And the jumbo shrimp? Delightful. There were eight of us total, so we were placed in a little room on the side that was surrounded by large windows. And through those windows was a great view of the water. It was lovely. So yes, it's a great spot for a work meeting and they definitely treated us well. They service wasn't exactly the fastest, but -- that was kind of the overall feel of Florida. :)

Food was super salty, my hands and feet were swollen from all the salt! I will say that the staff was amazing, wine was awesome and the crab legs were out of this world! Dessert was delicious although it was more like a sample. Great atmosphere but if you're looking for an amazing dinner, this may not be the best place.

Located in the Hyatt Coconut Point Resort in Bonita Springs this is a local gem. Fresh seafood, innovative preparations in a casual yet upscale design. Service is attentive. Enjoyed the scallops and risotto. They also have fresh ceviche prayed several ways which is worth trying.

Was staying at the Hyatt coconut for training so decided to try this restaurant! Great seafood and attentive service. However she was a little slow. Not sure if it's because we had a party of 12 but I had to ask for our water cups to be refilled. Anyways had to try their fresh made ceviche! They have 8 different ones. I tried the shrimp and grouper! Very good! For the main course I had the scallops with blackened kale! The kale was very salty so I didn't like it that much but I needed my greens! It's kind of expensive so I wouldn't go back but good food.

I've been looking forward all week for this meal. Well tonight my wife and I and another couple had dinner at Tarpon Bay. Started off with delicious oysters, and waited for my LOBSTER MACARONI & CHEESE. When it arrived, I dug in, and it was awsome, that is until I hit the cartilage still attached to the chunks of Maine lobter. After the fourth piece of cartilage I could not go on eating this. I looked forward to having this dish after reading rave reviews about it. I did not expect to have a problem with food at the Hyatt Regency, and feel it is inexcusable to not prepare food properly. Although the others in my party, were satisfied with ther meals, I'll think twice befor returning to Tarpon Bay Restaurant.

Had a really nice dinner here. Ceviche appetizers were unique and quite tasty. Coconut Ahi was very good, as were the other seafood dishes ordered by the rest of my party. The waitress was very attentive and the chef came out to check up on us. Dessert was a little disappointing, but not bad. I had the "Cookies and Milk", which is cereal inspired cookies with ice cream. Interesting concept, but it just didn't work out as well as I thought it would.

My wife and I grabbed a dinner here while visiting relatives in the area. The hotel is beautiful which sets your expectations pretty high even before you enter this particular restaurant. Upon arriving we went to the bar for a drink to relax prior to dinner. The bartender was great and really set the stage for an enjoyable evening. We then made our way to our table and enjoyed some ceviche appetizers, they were fantastic, which you should expect from a place named Tarpon Bay right? The entrees were just as delicious and the service continued to be at a high level the entire evening. Good food, nice atmosphere, great service... A very nice way to spend the evening.

What a great talented chef Grant. Great attention from the waiter Luis, he recommended ceviche. I was skeptical at first because we are from Miami and we have more than 50 ceviche restaurants. Lobster mac and cheese and for the main course was bacon wrapped grouper, so delicious and melted in your mouth like butter, and the coconut ahi tuna was cooked to perfection. We recommend this restaurant.

Great location, food was ok. The service was terrible, it took over an hour to get our food. The waiter and the manager told us we were going to get 50% off our check, because of the long wait, however, they only took off one meal not 50% off the check. We would not go back.

After having some appetizers at a reception at the hotel we went over to Tarpon Bay for fresh oysters and ceviche. The blue point oysters were very fresh. We loved the fresh grounded horse radish. We also tried three different ceviche: tuna, calamari, and snapper. They were good. The next day we went back and tried scallops with two sides; grilled asparagus and spicy kale. We also ordered some oyster Rockefeller. The scallops were cooked perfectly and they were delicious. The kale was excellent. We could have skipped the oyster Rockefeller, they were okay. Our oyster bar attendant was excellent; however, the regular server was a little slow.

We were told to come here for their ceviche and the so called great ambiance. However, we were extremely disappointed! First off the ceviche was below average. We've had ceviche 10 times better! Then we waited for our dinner to arrive for 1.5 hrs!! Every table around us was having issues. The entrees here are by no means wallet friendly, and so the expectation of high quality is desired if we are paying $39 for a piece of fish and 1 side. The fish was well prepared, however the green beans side were awful! The beans were not green but brown in color and tasted like they had been microwaved. I had the broccolini as a side, which was actually broccoli and I couldn't even cut through it! We just wanted to get out and so we didn't try any desserts. The 2 stars are for Jamie our waitress, who was super nice and kept apologizing for the atrocious meal! Will not be coming back!

Great atmosphere. We sat outside on the veranda. Ceviche was excellent! Other seafood fare was okay. We came in on a summer prix fixe type menu and could not go wrong on the price. All in all, we would come back to try the regular menu items on another occasion, definitely the ceviche. But... I wouldn't put this up there with a 5 star rating. In all fairness are server josh was great. Server was Knowledgable, friendly and service was well executed.

This is a good choice in the Bonita/Naples area. Fish is well prepared. They offer a nice selection of cerviche but the portions are very tiny. Prices are a bit high for the area but it is located in the Hyatt Regency. THe screened porch in the back makes for a lovely evening.

    (3)
  • Nicholl M.

We ordered their summer special. The wine got better as you drank it, so in reality it was pretty awful. The salads were lackluster. The sorbet was basically ice chips. The ceviche is still great! And the entrees were good, but the portions very small. It's a shame the rest of the meal didn't live up to our previous visits here.

  • Ron M.

The Good: Rick, our server was excellent. He knew the menu well and kept things flowing. A few bumps here and there but he was on it and went beyond and above. Captain's room was nice and our guests enjoyed it. Presentation was excellent. The Bad: Hostess seemed confused. Wine list isn't impressive and our Italian selection was bland. The Ceviche was served with flavored bread/crackers taking away from the natural flavors. Two of the four fish plates served were overcooked. In the Middle: Dessert was okay, more of an after thought. Summary: Great staff, nice location, quiet place to meet but the food didn't live up to expectations.

I was here for a conference and had several meals here with and without clients and every meal was really delicious. I had the seviche, the salmon-which was incredible, and then tried my neighbor's breaded grouper which was also delicious. We also had a seared salmon and some incredible beef filets which were outstanding.
