Enjoyed a tasty lunch here, had the bacon cheeseburger w/side of fries. Burger was large enough to share with another person, and was prepared exactly to taste. Staff was timely and courteous. Would definitely recommend and will make many return visits.

Cal's Place is a super, small town eatery with hearty menu items & friendly service. I've attended a number of group meetings here (Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, personal biz meetings) and the quality of service & food are consistently good. Cal's appreciates your business & it shows.

Tried this place for breakfast on a recent trip to Florida, since it had a lot of cars out front. Maybe this passes for good food in the backwoods of Florida, but most of the food was inedible. My omelet must have been cooked on HIGH till it was dry, rubbery, and inedible. Toast was dripping with "butter" from the kitchen, grits had the dried, hard surface stirred in, so there were large lumps. Partner's over easy eggs were cooked well, but he had the same problem with the toast and grits. The waitress did bring us real butter, but there was also a liquid yellow in a mustard bottle you could squirt on your food. Waitress told us it wasn't "real butter." I'm not sure what it was - some kind of yellow oil. Waitress asked a perfunctory "How's everything?" and was already turning away before I could answer. It was easier just to pay up (prices are cheap) and go find breakfast somewhere else. We will never go back.

No, this is NOT a Chain Restaurant, it is a True "Mom & Pop" family friendly place to sit and have a meal. Lived in Belleview for several years, and went to Cal's every weekend. They treat you like Family and the food is Good. Moved to North Alabama, and still have not found a little place even close to it here. We sure do MISS Cal's Place, the Staff and the Food... especially the Deep Fried Home Fires with Onion (Not Hashbrowns, HOMEFRIES)

I've been coming to Cal's with my Mom for about 15 years now. Never disappoints! Great service, perfect eggs every time, and good prices. I'm sure I'll be back next time I come to Ocala!

Cal's is definitely out of the way, but is worth a trip for old-fashioned southern style food. Breakfast is served all day, and portions are huge, especially for the price. I recommend the catfish, it's not on the menu, but for $10 you will get five while catfish with two sides. The green beans and mashed potatoes were made from scratch.

Cal's Place is definitely off the beaten path, so done come here if you're looking for a "fine dining" experience. That said, I thought that my experience at Cal's was very warm and inviting. Well there, we had a live singer who was not overbearing, but instead provided very pleasant background music. As for the food, I had the catfish special and thought it was absolutely devine! I tried my friend's trout and didn't care for it as much but I think that might just be because I don't care much for trout. We also received a couple of hush puppies which I thought was a nice treat, however, they were hard as rocks and I didn't feel like cracking my teeth on them. The service was really great as well. Our waitress was very attentive and the busboy was helpful as well. Definitely give this place a shot if you're in town.
