I am writing this review while waiting for my delivery for about two hours. When the delay was around 1:20 I called them and got the answer the delivery guy was on his way. Not true, since I live 5 minutes from the restaurant. Called again ten minutes ago and the answer was the same. I asked the lady to call the delivery guy to ask what was happening and the answer was a hang out... The food didn't arrive yet but due to the terrible costumer experience I will not order from Mr Chef's again. UPDATE: After more than 2 hours my order arrived. I told the delivery girl about the huge delay and she apologized. The food was good. Nothing spectacular but good. To be fair, I raise the rating to 2 stars instead of one.

Service was great. They were very attentive, courteous and actually nice. Which doesn't happen to often. The place was very clean. The food was great. Ordered Mongolian beef. Was delicious. Finally some good Chinese food. Will be returning

I'm not a big fan of Chinese food but we had to try it out since we live on top of this place. I was disappointed that in the meat section they had some interesting choices, but the wait staff didn't have vegetarian options. In contrast, the next door place has options, and then you choose meat or vegetables. We ordered some fried rice which was OK, and lettuce wraps which were pretty good. Wish there was more flavor and/or sauce. With another Chinese place that is more vegetarian friendly a few steps away, probably would not return.

I always saw this restaurant in Aventura and last friday decided to give it a try. I arrived at 10:30pm just to take out some food and was greatly surprised that they open until 11pm which is awesome considering there are no many option that open that late in this area. I liked the food a lot and went back for lunch on saturday haha, yes, i'm a fan... and on saturday I ordered again the roasted duck that is a-ma-zing. The Mr. Chef Fried Rice is very very good too. I will be ordering from them every week from now on :)

Gotta downgrade this place. It never did duplicate that first bowl of soup. Food is ok at best with a couple of good dishes. Last night was awful, They really are not getting a crowd 7:15 and I am the last to leave an empty restaurant. First ordered Wonton soup... after a 5 to 7 minute wait out comes a bowl of hot water with some ingredients thrown in. either water was added to stretch it out or it was new and never cooked down! Then came the curry chicken. Broth it was served in was watery. Potatoes a little on the hard side and did not cook down to thicken what was supposed to be the sauce!

For the price why not PF Changs. A friend from new york recommended this place. She said it was like new york chineese food. Seemed overpriced to me. the aptmospere was very nice. The food was pretty good. they let you chose how spicy you want it. The waitress seemed a little aloof. I got the wrong order. I guess secsuan can sound like sesame. No big deal. But she could at least have apolagieed. I think I'll keep looking for good chineese in the area.

Great for lunch or dinner. The food is always fresh and staff is very accommodating. Great service-oriented I love coming here. Many items can be made gluten free if you need (although they have items already on the menu that are gluten free)

Was given 40 minute time frame to pick up food.... 90 minutes later I'm being told to be patient because it's still not ready. Everyone is waiting double time. Quality of food doesn't matter at this point.

Great food. Slow service. No matter when I come in; afternoon, weekday, weekend, holiday. Same issue every time.

Our dinner was not bad. Actually pretty decent. Now here's where it all went kinda weird. Our waitress was great. Good service, etc. BUT there was also a bus-girl or assistant of sorts walking around. About every 30-45 seconds she would pass very close to our table and stare at us and our food. This went on repeatedly throughout our meal to the point where we started joking about. It was strange and made us feel slightly uncomfortable.

Came here for a casual Saturday night meal. The restaurant was pretty empty. We requested to sit in the bar area to watch an NFL playoff game but we were told that section was closed to be cleaned. Once we were seated several staff members actually sat down to eat in that area! Waitress really did not help with recommendations. Steamed veggie dumplings were good but the noddles were greasy and flavorless. My husband's duck was a bit dry. Our waitress sat down to eat her meal and barely came back to check on us. Doubt I will be back.

Love their special fried rice, pork dumplings and crab rangoons. The special friend rice comes with plenty of meat and the pork dumplings and crab rangoons are never short of tasty! I've always had their food delivered (around lunch time) and it's always been approx an hour for the food to arrive.

  • Matt M.

Waitress was extremely helpful in suggesting the entrees and was spot on... Food was excellent... Mongolian beef and seafood was awesome! Highly recommend lettuce wraps for a starter. Be sure to mention if it is your first visit, as they showered us with extra samples of salads and dipping appetizers. Service was outstanding and portions were huge! Great place to dine!

Took an extra long time for carry out, but great hospitality and amazing food totally made up for the wait. Best "special" wonton soup i honestly have ever had. Packed full with delis hours wontons, fresh veggies, shrimp and chicken. For sure will go back and wait again.

The worst service imaginable! They are terribly understaffed, in the kitchen and with the waitresses. My wife and I came for dinner. It was 25 minutes before I finally was able to get someone to stop at the table to take our order. Then it was 35 minutes more for a soup (a soup!) to arrive. The other courses arrived one at a time at long intervals, the last one about 90 minutes after we sat down. The Chinese woman manager was on the phone the whole time and wouldn't talk to me or even acknowledge me. She knew we were waiting a long time and that I wanted to ask her to help, but she wouldn't stop at the table and would turn away when I approached her. She doesn't belong in a service business. I love Chinese food and eat a lot of it, and the dishes we had were no better than passable. The worst egg roll I've ever had--soggy, too thick shell, with tasteless filling. Avoid the place.

  • Susan T.

After several nights of fancy expensive food on vacation we decided Chinese would hit the spot. The place is attractive but too brightly lit. Also they only have wine and beer no hard liquor. The food was delicious. We had salt and pepper shrimp, lobster in black bean sauce and the Peking duck. Very nice service. If your looking for fresh well prepared Chinese near Aventura this is the spot!

I love this place every time I eat here. The food is great it's fresh and just tastes amazing. One of my favorite things there is the egg rolls. These egg rolls taste and feel so authentic and I love that they have the little bits of meat and shrimp inside. Even delivery comes out so fresh tasting.

Took two hours for our food to be delivered - was very disappointed because it said on their website that our zip code would take 35 minutes. Woman on the phone was nasty when we called. Would not order from here again.

I'm not a fan of Chinese food, but I didn't have enough time for lunch one day so I had to dart across the street on foot to the nearest place I could grab a bite. The service was pretty fast as well as getting my food. It took a minute for someone to come seat me though. I had the lunch special. Salad and LoMein. It was decent. I would probably go back for the lunch special and try other dishes.

  • Ashlee M.

This place is managed by stubborn idiots. There is nothing vegetarian on the lunch menu, and they're not willing to substitute tofu. Hello morons, tofu is cheaper than meat. They lost my business forever.

Best Chinese food in Aventura!! Love the shrimp dumplings and seafood combo, super delicious!

This is my go-to place for Chinese take-out. Ive never eaten in, so my experiences have been with take-out only. I usually place my orders online, which gets you a small discount for orders over $30. I don't do this because Im cheap, its more out of convenience. I typically order the same stuff, because I like what I get. I like the fact they have "Health Garden" section, with dishes that don't have lots of sauce/salt. I typically get the mixed vegetables w/ tofu, and the Szechuan shrimp. They offer their dishes with white or brown rice (with no extra charge). The Shrimp is larger than most places and usually cooked perfectly. The portions are a nice size for the price. The packaging for take out is also well done. Overall, I have been very satisfied. The location is very convenient, but it could be hard to find if you don't know the area. Its in a retail section underneath residential buildings, and the street is a little hard to notice if you are not familiar. Parking is usually not a problem. I would recommend you try it if you are in the neighborhood, or if you are looking for some good take out.

Update... We've been disappointed with our last 2 takeout experiences- not with the food, but with the delivery time. Last night we ordered online, as we always do. We ordered at 7:25pm, and were quoted an 8:25pm delivery. We did not receive our order until nearly TWO hours later, at 9:18pm. If we had known it was going to be this long, we would have made other plans for dinner. I don't understand what is causing this (no big game on last night, it wasn't New Years...) Seems like they need to hire more help. The time before this, our order took an hour and 20 minutes to arrive. I don't want to miss out on their food, but I will think twice before doing delivery again, unfortunately :(

  • Dewey C.

I like the size of the portions here. They are not huge and covered with salty sauces. I particularly like the duck; both roast and Peking. The Sinapore noodles are curried and quite delicate. I've had their lemon chicken which has a light lemon sauce with little cornstarch. Their best item was a Seafood Roll, but it's gone with the wind; the other rolls are only ok. The place is a little hard to find hidden as it were behind Pubix, but it's never too crowded and the decor is very nice which makes the food go down better rather than some Chinese restaurants that...well I won't go there but you know what I mean. It is worth a trip for sure.

First time customer and this was the worst experience ever. I don't usually write reviews but this place deserves one so I'll get straight to the point. 1. When my order finally arrived they brought 3 entrees without the ORDERED rice 2. I then found a disgustingly long piece of hair in my lonely chicken 3. They were very rude when I called to tell them about my extremely disappointing dinner to see if they could at least compensate somehow, even an apology would have been better than hanging up on me. I would never recommend this place.

  • Claudia A.

Best Chinese food after a long search! Their orange chicken is awesome, but other dishes are also good. I don't rate it 5 stars because I haven't tried everything on the menu, but so far so good. I haven't dine in but their delivery service is punctual and sometimes faster than what they tell you when you order. It's always fresh and hasn't disappointed yet. Mr. Chefs is a must try!

  • Irene R.

If I could give zero stars to this establishment, I would. I have ordered from here before and the food is OK but it's the only place that delivers to my location. Ordered online fully aware that the wait time was 90 minutes. Over 90 minutes later, I was still waiting and decided to give them a call. The phone rang off the hook a couple of times and finally got an answer on my third try. After giving the lady my order reference number, she advised me that they needed to find out whether the tofu I wanted to add to my dish was steamed or fried. The order had not even been cooked yet!!! No apologies, no attempt to make up for the inconvenience. She advised me that orders took 90 minutes, and I acknowledged that I was aware of that which is why I called to follow up after 90 minutes. I then asked how much longer it would take and she told me it would take another 30 minutes or so and they were still waiting on the driver. HORRIBLE service for sub-standard Chinese food. I will never buy from here again.

This place is awesome. I was a regular customer for 2 years ordering delivery almost every Sunday. The food tastes fresh. Best Chinese food I have tasted in Florida. The pork fried rice is awesome. So is their special wonton soup. Shrimp with broccoli in the brown sauce was always fresh. Usually people order Chinese food to get dinner out of the way, quick and easy. But this place makes you look forward to Chinese food. Now I live 45 minutes away and I'm missing this place :( I highly recommend. It's a tad pricy and they don't serve too much but the taste makes it all worth it!!! 45 minute delivery time for sure.

As good as it gets. We are from Bay Area w. mucho Chinese restaurants of all flavors. Pot stickers (aka dumplings) were outstanding. Ate in restaurant (not take out). Also, had Mongolian beef and orange chicken.

Delivery was horribly slow (hours). I gave them 3 separate chances. After delivery sucked the 3rd time. I'll never eat from here again.

Absolutely terrible place. Called and ordered a delivery for two general chicken combinations. Because it was raining they said it would take about 45 minutes. After an hour and a half I called and asked where the delivery was and they replied with it has not been made yet it will be ready from the kitchen in five minutes. The owners excuse was that I wasn't new customer and not an all customer. It's easy to deliver to all customers place because they know where it is an difficult because I'm a new customer and they don't know exactly where am. For two of the combination the price is also $45. Terrible service terrible customer service whenever go here again nor recommended it. I know there's grammatical and spelling errors I don't care it was voice to text I'm pissed I'm getting off this thing...

Excellent food and love the multiple courses. Dinner menu includes crunchy noodle appetizer, white and brown rice, entree and fruit dessert. The steamed shrimp dumplings are awesome! Only complaint was the limited English of the waitstaff but they were very courteous and friendly.

  • Diane N.

I've eaten here a few times for both lunch and dinner. For some reason, I always think the food is better at lunch. You can get either soup or salad with lunch. I especially like the egg drop soup. So far I've stuck to their traditional Chinese entrees. The next time I go I want to try a few items I've never had before. The deep fried stuffed tofu sounds interesting, and since I love fried tofu, I'd like to try it. The service is usually good. The prices are reasonable.

  • Z B.

When they first opened, it was pretty good. But recently, it seems like they've stopped trying. We had the avocado salad which was a joke, some iceberg with a few slices of avocado that you couldn't even see because it was smothered in thousand island dressing. The Singapore rice noodles, which should have a little spice and a yellowish color, were brown and bland.

  • D.L. A.

Delivery service is the worst,...Food is different than when you order in house at the restaurant. We ordered sesame beef and broccolli from their online menu. The dish was not editble. The beef was dangled pieces of meat that were coated and fried. Not one slice of beef was identfiable..ughh. For the broccoli, there were 6 random tops/bottom cuts on the side. There was no sauce and the brocolli was dry. We asked for mild spicy. Chef must have dropped the bottle, our lips were burning...not so mild! What a disapointing expensive experience.

When I want to eat Chinese in a nice place and atmosphere and not just takeout, I go here! It's usually empty. Yes, even on weekends. The food was amazing. I order the fried rice, lo mein with chicken or beef, and sweet-and-sour chicken, minus the sauce. The dessert was okay - ordered a chocolate cake. And fortune cookies are given with the bill and if not it doesn't hurt to ask. Everything is reasonably priced as well.

I have always the Shrimp with walnut and Mayonnaise. Its my favorite dish, its healthy, its crunchy, and it taste awesome. When i want to have chinese, I go only to this place. Super super fan!

Clean, pleasant, friendly are all ways to describe my initial reaction upon entering Mr. Chef's to pick up my order. Take out service is fast and efficient. Food was hot when we arrived home. Egg rolls were fresh, Shrimp w lobster sauce was very good and the Steamed Chicken w Vegetables was prepared w no salt, oil or soy sauce, as promised. Everything was fresh and prepared very well. Prices were fair and reasonable.

Mr Chef is the exception to the mundane Miami Chinese restaurants. The ambiance is sophisticated, the service spot on and the food delicious. The sauces.are light and full of flavor and the menu had a wide variety of choices. If you don't live in Aventura it might be tricky to find, but.definitely worth the effort

  • David G.

This is the best Chinese I have found in this area. As expected in life you get what you pay for so it's a little pricey but well worth it. Have not been disappointed by any of the dishes. Highly recommend. My favorites are hot sour soup, lettuce wraps , orange chicken Mongolian beef.

Do not order delivery - takes 3 hours. I ordered delivery from this restaurant at 6:15pm and it's currently 8:30pm and the food still has not arrived. The restaurant is 5 miles from my house. I guess if you have the patience of a monk - order from here. I should have listened to other bad reviews. Never again ordering from this place.

    (1)

AWFUL!!! The food is fair at best - and NEVER do take out. What is supposed to take an hour to deliver will takes hours. For mediocre food, totally not worth the annoyance.

I love Chines food and know all the places around the area . This one was very bad by far ... No smiles or even simple Hello when you walk in . Our waiter only took out order never responded to us only was shaking her head for yes or no ( very spooky ) My husband assumed he was not allowed to talk. The highlight of the evening was the food it was served very fast ... it was cold no taste or flavor to it . When the waiter was serving my dish in his other hand he was hold a dirty floor map that he was cleaning with the floor next to us just few min before ... Never going back and i live walking distance from it .

Yes the food is good but it will cost you. This place is expensive & at times unreasonable--they wont give you wonton soup with the lunch special but WILL give you hot & sour or egg drop soup-- cant understand that.

I am big fan of Mr. Chef. It has become the go-to Sunday night Chinese food option in my house. The place offers the kind of high quality zonky Sunday night Chinese food you want. Listen, I can go all Bordain on you and preach high and mighty about having the real authentic Chinese food. Forget that nonsense. I was born and raised on Americanized Chinese food. While I love to try the real deal and will drive miles to get it, I still need and crave the classics. This place has the classics and a lot more (including some of those authentic dishes). What makes this place works is the use of high quality ingredients. When I have pork fried rice, I want to know that chunk in the rice is really pork. Here, you easily will identify the pork. When I have a General Tso, I want to know that is chicken I am eating. Here, it is big chunks of white meat chicken. The bottom line is if you are looking for that Sunday night Chinese fix, this is the place. It is the use of fresh, quality ingredients that makes it stand out from the other places. By the way, they have a nice selection of kid friendly dishes. Also, if you order takeout, do it through the Internet. You get ten percent off.

  • Karen D.

If I could give this place a zero stars I would. What's the point of placing an order 3 hours early for pick up (as instructed to do by the staff) if when you call to confirm the food is ready they say they haven't bothered making it yet and that it would be another hour? Wtf? Last I checked that's an example of poor time management and customer service. Good riddens. The food is just average to begin with and this absolute garbage with their inability to fill their orders is inexcusable. Never going there again.

  • Tobi G.

Service was very good. It was a pleasure to be in a place that was so nice and clean and everyone had a smile on their faces. I thought the food was good. The hot and sour soup was a little to spicy for me but everything else we had was delicious and this was the second time we have been there. This is such a nice place to have in the Aventura neighborhood. You have the choice to eat in or take out. You can pick it ip or they will deliver. Enjoy!

This restaurant is impartial to the customers they serve. The first time I wasn't acknowledged after dining here I gave them the benefit of doubt but after it blatantly happened a second time it's hard to turn a blind eye to the fact. I called the manager on it and what I received in return was excuses. Will never eat here again.

I have to admit I was a little worried when it came to our Sunday night ritual of ordering Chinese food since we moved down here. I was very used to the plentiful great tasting food that we had delivered in 20 minutes in New Jersey. I was without a doubt being stubborn and annoying my girlfriend during the ordering process. At first it was expensive and delivery said up to an hour. In a new state of mind now. Delivery took about a half hour and was well worth it. The food is one of the highest quality Chinese food I had. Sauce was thick and customized to the spice level you prefer. Keep an open mind and try it out

Thanks to yelp I discovered this little gem. Ordered late night take out and was extremely pleased . Order was ready timely. Ordered roast pork chow fun a dish that's often times butchered in Chinese restaurants near and far. Chow fun was prepared splendidly, tasty roast pork perfectly cooked rice noodles with just the right amount of onion scallion and bean sprouts. Definitely a home run. Egg roll was cooked well loaded with fresh vegetables. The wonton soup was very unique. Wontons were light and airy, filled with shrimp. The soup was full of pork and cabbage and the crispy noodles were fantastic. As an aside the food was not infused with salt, a definite plus. The food was loaded with flavor without the need to go heavy handed on the salt. All and all a fantastic find. The restaurant itself looked very well appointed. I plan to go back and eat in and take out when needed. I really liked the place and the service was fast and attentive. I would have given 5 stars but didn't have enough of a variety to go there. Will review again when I go with a group.

One of the better Chinese restaurants in the area. South Florida isn't known for there Chinese food but this place is really good. It's located in a condominium and not much parking available so good luck finding a spot to park.

  • Kathi C.

Service was friendly and the place was large, modern and neat. However, I'm disappointed because I was led to believe this was a place where I'd get authentic Chinese food, but it was just another Americanized Asian place. They didn't have sauteed Chinese vegetables, like spinach, snow pea leaves, or water spinach. So, I ordered something neutral- moo shu pork. The wrappers were dry, and the dish was too salty to swallow! Additionally, they forgot the best part: the egg! That egg adds the smoky flavor and moist texture to the dish, but it was left out. The waitress said the chef forgot it! I had a few bites of my friend's kung pao scallops, and I made myself an omelet when I got home. It's true what the other Yelper said- if you like PF Changs you'll like this place. Trouble is, I am still looking for a good 'hole in the wall' Chinese place in Miami that reminds me of the cuisine in China or Taiwan, and this is certainly not it!

My favorite ordering spot. Is not s cheap as i'd like with there being a $20 minumum for delivery but hey who doesnt love great Chinese left overs! Great delivery experience! Online order was delivered fast & still hot. I was hesitant about getting the lettuce wraps, but the lettuce arrive still crispy & cold. Their Mongolian beef was just how i like it, with only scallions and very spicy! Their szechuan chicken surprised me how good it was! Even better than my mongolian, which is always my favorite dish. I was glad to see that the price represented the quality of their food. I am very annoyed when mediocre Chinese delivery runs at the same price. But this was Restaurant food delivered to my door :) If i want quality that never fails me, this is where I call. I could brake it down by each dish that ive tried... but honestly I have only one thing to say, everything has been the way I expect it to be. Crunchy when it needs to be, spicy how i want it to be, etc. Perfect I am not Asian so I cant speak much for authenticity, but for Americanized Chinese in the area, they deserve my money :) Side note: Order online for some discounts.

Not impressed & not worth the 1 block walk. Sooo I was happy to see a Chinese in the neighborhood since there is none...seemed someone did some research before opening up just anything here. But unfortunately again...chinese food mission...fail. The wait for the food was horrendous. The waitress was kind though. The beef Szechuan (the Chinese test) was not horrible but the meat had that metallic frozen glare on it. The shrimp fried rice was decent. But overall the food was overpriced and just not that great. For that make the extra drive & dollars & go to PF Chang's for some chain Chinese.

Ok! I took the advice based on one previous review. The food is indeed SOLID. Fresh tasting well prepared. Food was good. Delivery was quick and courteous. A fresh chinese food delivery in Aventura could be a an asset! worth it!!!

  • Andy T.

Very mediocre from top to bottom. We ate here today for lunch and it was EMPTY. The wait staff sat at a table 4feet from us yammering and ignoring us the entire meal. When we were finished the waiter came to fill up my water glass for the FIRST TIME for the entire meal. Service was non existent to the point where we couldn't wait to go. The food was decent but the service would keep me away in the future.. also it was bothersome that it was completely empty as well as some of the other yelpers mentioned 33 health code violations in the past 90 days? Try Chef Phillip Ho in sunny isles.

If you like PF changs you will love this place. Its definitely more affordable has better lighting and you get better service. We were greeted with a smile and taken right to a table. It was an older crowd but my honey and I did not mind as we would rather deal with a group of older people then screaming kids. They had a nice selection of drinks and the typical Chinese cuisine but it was extremely good. We spent about $40 bucks and ate like kings (nice portions, more than enough to share one meal). This spot is quiet tucked away and easy to miss as it is at the bottom floor of the Venture but for a Saturday night for us to be automatically seated is well worth looking for. We will definitely come again.

Favorite Chinese in north Miami area! The food is always delicious and fresh. The service however is what's the best here they really made us feel welcomed every single time. My husband and I discovered the restaurant when I was pregnant and we now go there with our baby, the atmosphere is very kid friendly.

Delicious. Reminds me of Sunday night dinners growing up in NYC. Really nice people too.

Good solid american chinese that opened recently near the marina in aventura. The wonton soup is solid as is the dishes. They have all the classics everybody general tso's , chicken and broccoli etc. The atmosphere is nice and clean the food is solid. Best neighborhood chinese I have eaten in the area. Lots of health consious options a well. Only real downside is the service which will hopefully improve.

solid spot. im from nyc where i typically go for spicy sichuan food. it's been a while since i've had "american" chinese food - and it'd put this place in that latter category, but its good! the hot and sour soup, ma po tofu and chicken and broccoli are all good. the tofu wasn't particularly spicy, had carrots and peas in it (which in my opinion sweetens everything) but it was good. the chicken and broccoli was in a white wine sauce which was really good. asked for it to be extra spicy and they made it perfectly. service is prompt. the ambiance is casual. i've been twice and the place has been on the empty side... but i still give it a solid B.

Two friends told us about this place.. We went there high expectations. The place is plain, clean but you would never know you were in a Chinese restaurant. We ordered Pork Lo Mein, which was bland. Have you ever been in a Chinese restaurant that not have Teriacki sauce?Well they have NO table sauces at this one. Very disappointed. Christine Lee's is still my favorite.

I had driven by this restaurant a couple of times, but never went in. I bought a discount coupon and went last night. Well, let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised at the place. It is clean, new and cheery. The wait staff is very helpful and the food extremely fresh, low salt and the portions are huge. I certainly will become a regular and finally found a great place to have chinese food.
