As if this place doesn't have enough awesome reviews.. They deserve it! My boyfriends grandparents live across the bridge and gave us three options that we're close for dinner and thanks to yelp, I quickly decided. The grandparents even said "Oh Sparky's is the best in town!" I already had high standards coming in. OK.. talk about adorable. Like a cute little rustic little diner. Reminded me of restaurants up in Wisconsin along the lake. Anyway, there's only about 10 tables in the whole place and we took up a large amount of the tables in the center with 6 of us. Service was spot on, I always ask for extra lemons in my water and I really judge service on how many they give me(I got about 3 wedges.. ok not ideal but still nice!). I saw the picture of the swamp burger and knew it had to be mine. How do you describe this wonderful burger? I don't know where to start. A perfectly good burger but covered with perfect fries topped with cheese, bacon, sauces.. oh my. Has anyone mentioned how it's just under $8?! yeah you get a crazy amount of fries and a burger as one for under $10. Im in. Must go back! Also, I'm a huge fan of extra casual places that are still restaurants and this did it. After a long day on the boat this made my day.

This was a great place to stop for breakfast. The staff was very friendly and the prices were extremely reasonable. It had a very quaint small town feel. My family will be making this our breakfast spot whenever we are in town.

We stopped in here on our way out from camping at Alexander Springs on a July 4, 2015. We were lucky to have arrived as a table had become available. Evidently, this place is usually busy. There are only about 10 tables in the whole place. It's got a cozy kitschy feel. Kathy took good care of us. We ordered the bear cakes and the red neck Benedicts. Both were delicious. The bear cakes are huge pancakes (the size of your plate) files with nuts and dried fruit. Seriously consider your portion before ordering to much. I couldn't finish my order of 2! Next time, I may order one and some bacon next time. The red neck Benedicts were biscuits served open faced and stacked with sausage, fried eggs and sausage gravy. The person cooking makes the best fried egg... It was perfectly runny and hot. We shared our plates and still couldn't finish all of the food! We were heading back home and asked for Togo cups for our coffee. She brought out two Togo cups filled with fresh coffee. That was thoughtful. There is free WiFi. The password is their phone number. Great food! Great service! We'll be back! We just laughed about how we won't have to pack any food next camping trip!

Unbelievable roadside food! We stopped for breakfast on July 4th an the place was loaded with locals. Cathy got is a booth and we quickly ordered. Portions are huge and the food is a slice of comfort. This is worth getting off the beaten path for.

If you're traveling from Ocala to Ormond Beach, you will want to consider Sparky's when driving thru Astor. This small restaurant is serving up some flavorful food and it seems the locals agree. I stopped in for lunch and the place was full to capacity. I agreed to sit down and share a table with another customer because I was in a hurry and reviewed their menu. They are known for their pizza but I chose to go with the wings. I ordered 10 Garlic Butter wings with a side of ranch and they were terrific. It took about 30 minutes for the wings to arrive but considering it was busy, I wasn't too surprised. They also offer hamburgers and some steak options.

Honestly not quite sure what all the rave reviews are about here, my and my friend's experience were ok but in no way amazing. The interior is very down-home and comfy, appropriate for the forest atmosphere with a lot of artwork and bric-a-brac relating to Florida and the National Forest. The menu runs long and includes everything from the expected hamburgers and sandwiches to a selection of Italian favorites. My "swamp thing" shrimp sandwich and my friend's hamburger were both fine but not outstanding; perhaps the Italian dishes are more the way to go here and apparently the breakfasts are legendary. For a fairly decent and quick meal, it's fine, but I'd rather go on into Astor to Blackwater Inn for their delicious seafood most times.

This little mom-and-pop restaurant has some of the best spaghetti sauce I have ever eaten. My Italian family would approve. I would invite diners, drive-ins, and dives to visit this place and try Mama's spaghetti.

"Best Pancakes in The world", a quote from my 10 year old pancake lover. We came to this restaurant after our camping trip. We were hungry, tired, and needing some good food. We got a very Warm welcome as we entered. The kids were given crayons & a coloring page. The coffee was fresh and the service was prompt. My husband & I both ordered omelettes. Mine was stuffed with a generous amount of fresh spinach & quality feta. My husband's western omelette was very tasty too. A lot of fresh ingredients. Our daughters both ordered pancakes. After hearing how good they were I tried some and WOW!!! Delicious! Try the home fries. They are great with fresh onions & peppers. Very flavorful. Too much food for us to eat it all. And the entire dining experience was complimented by the friendly staff. Even the bus-boy was friendly & helpful.

My mother lives near here, in Astor. It's a great place where the bears outnumber humans. Sparky's has a metric ton of local color, and is where the locals dine. You can ask about the huntin, fishin, and anything else what ends in N. The food is great, the swamp burger is great, and the breakfast is worth the stop. I recommend you get out of the car and stop here on your way out. The corned beef is fantastic, and the pancakes are nice.

Excellent spot to grab some breakfast. Biscuits and gravy and the bear cakes are worth the stop.

When you are hungry and price matters it is the BEST! Look for the HAPPY bear with a spoon and coffee cup. Sparky's Place gives new meaning to, "BIG PANCAKES and MORE!"

Small but cozy, with very friendly and attentive service, and a wide variety of types of food. Very reasonable prices and good quality ingredients. This place is a step up from your usual American diner out in the country. My friends and I have eaten here twice after visiting some nearby springs, and we've always been happy and satisfied. My only complaints are that there's a tv that is always on and blaring, which is distracting and makes it hard to carry conversation easily. And that part of my dinner was overly salted.

The food was okay. I got the swamp burger, which is an itty bitty burger patty covered in a mound of cheese fries. The fries were great, hand made and delicious, so I guess by the time you get to the burger it doesn't matter much that it's nonexistent. It kinda worked. My husband got the Ruben with hand made sweet potato fries. It was really very good. You could tell it was hand carved corned beef not some lunch meat special. They also had cinnamon butter to dip the fries in, great touch! The reason for the 3 stars instead of 4 is apparently we went in the middle of a shift change, so no one wanted to help us.

This hidden gem was such a great find. I had the sparky burger and I had to eat it with a fork! Huge with thin cut French fries. It was smothered in cheddar cheese and absolutely amazing. My boyfriend had the swamp burger which was even better then mine. Come hungry and leave stuffed!

Extraordinary restaurant in a far off spot. The 3 of us had lunch there today and the sandwiches were very good and the fries and onion rings fantastic. I'd go back in an instant. If in central Florida be sure to stop here.

Middle of nowhere. At least if you don't live there. Great, simple breakfast. I had eggs, bacon, and grits. All three were excellent. Great value, too. No pictures because I ate it all too quickly because it was so good. Was the perfect start to my day. Get a grilled biscuit with your breakfast.

Hidden gem in what any non-local would call the middle of nowhere. Nothing fancy but good food and friendly helpful service. The swamp fries were great, slightly spicy cheese and bacon shoestring fries that could have been a meal on their own. We also had a pizza which was very good, but couldn't be fully appreciated due to that very large plate of fries. Good sweet tea too. This just became our mid-florida stop when we make the east-west run.
