I ordered a simple salad no meat. It was a Czar, about 50 cents of romaine and some grated cheese. My wife ordered the same with on split an iced tea. The bill was 26 dollars. It was ridiculous. I will never eat there again.

My husband and I were in Arcadia this past weekend. We stopped at Slim's for a late lunch and were very pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is no frills but clean. The wait staff is warm and wonderful. The pork and the ribs were the best we have ever eaten and we went to Memphis last year for BBQ. You will not be disappointed. They have been in business since 1957 that really says something.

Not bad sliced pork and ribs. Overall very average.

Of the few regular restaurants in Arcadia, this is definitely the best! Down-home, delicious BBQ done right. My one major problem with them is that they don't seem to have set hours, so half the time we try to go there, they're closed. Their brunswick stew is the best I have EVER had - and I have tried a lot of them. BBQ chicken is really tasty and they serve every plate with big slices of garlic bread. Good sweet tea that's not too sweet. It's the kind of place that if you're from there, you're bound to walk in and know half the restaurant. It's laid-back, casual and delicious.

Found this gem from reviews on Yelp. Had fish and ribs which were veey good. The price is extremely good for the food quality and quantity. The key lime pie was good also. Will be back

Slim's Bar-B-Q is decent. Restaurant was clean, staff was super pleasant and biker friendly. Insert my usual complaint here: the garbage beer, but I expected it. The BBQ is still not that "will travel just to have it" BBQ, but it was ok. Still looking for that slap yo mama BBQ joint though.

Awesome service, BBQ & atmosphere. We've been coming here for decades. Worth the drive from either FL coast.

The BBQ is always great. The two meat plate is perfect enough for dinner and lunch the next day. RIBS are super good. Service is fast and friendly

Had lunch here today. Yet another BBQ joint whose seating was not designed with BBQ eaters in mind. Seriously, what's up with the picnic tables? BBQ fans don't fit in picnic tables! Ok that rant aside, since this was my first trip, I had to order a combo to try the ribs and pork. The food came out superfast and piled high. Both meats had a nice smoky flavor. The pork is cut very thin, almost shaved. Very nice flavor. Unfortunately, the ribs would have been good had I gotten them yesterday...it was obvious to me that they were cooked in advance and reheated. Dry and tough...which is s shame because the flavor was spot on!

One of the worst barbecues I have ever had.Meat, combination of pork and beef was dry and not flavorful. All those in my party agreed. If the locals think this is good barbecue, they certainly haven't been to good barbecue places elsewhere. Other food may be ok, but avoid the barbecue.

Came here on a whim while passing through- and it was great. Clean, service was friendly. Food was fresh. Had a pork slim salad-huge portion-so good!! Honey mustard chicken salad-fresh,moist Had a fl orange cheesecake-yum! Only downside was that we asked what their veggie was and it was fresh asparagus -asked for it and then got charged extra 99 cents.. no big deal-just was never told!

yummmmmmmy! 4.7 stars! This place will make you crave to come back! I had the pork sandwich with sweet potato tots and coleslaw. I asked if the pork was a pulled pork which it is NOT. BUT! It is sliced so thin it may as well be. The BBQ sauce is so good I bought 2 bottles. The sweet potato tots are commercial bought, but still not bad. The coleslaw is homemade and truly the best coleslaw I have ever eaten. My friend got the beef sandwich which she liked and the steak fries. Very good. We shared the kumquat pie... Oh. My. Goodness. I have never had this kind of pie before. I wish we had a cooler to bring one home (live over 40 miles away). Next time I will bring one! If you like key lime pie you will absolutely LOVE this pie!!! Key Lime? That is also on the dessert menu. I am really looking forward to going back. It is a nice ride out to Arcadia from Sarasota. Hey, don't all roads lead to Arcadia?

If you're just looking for a quick, mediocre, meal, this wouldn't be a bad place to go. However, if you're looking for awesome BBQ, definitely look elsewhere. There is no "signature" item on their menu. The BBQ sauce tastes like generic, bottled sauce. The pork and beef mix sandwich was disappointing. The beef and pork were sliced and tasted like deli sandwich style meat. There was no BBQ or smoke flavor at all and the sandwich wasn't even the size of my hand. It was oddly small pieces of garlic toast. The potato salad was the consistency of mashed potatoes with mayonnaise mixed in, it was very unappetizing. My husband and I sampled it and didn't touch it again. The coleslaw was alright, flavor wise, but it tasted pretty old and it was watery. The Brunswick stew was mediocre, it was unlike any Brunswick stew I have had. It consisted of shredded chicken and vegetables and almost tasted like a beef stew with vegetables and some BBQ sauce thrown in. The smoked fish dip is a new item on the menu and is absolutely delicious, however the presentation was lacking. It was served on one, very wilted, torn piece of lettuce and one chunk of tomato on the rim of the plate and a basket of individually wrapped crackers comes with it. Everywhere else I've ever had smoked fish dip serves it in the middle of a platter with multiple toppings decoratively placed around the dip. I had the Slim's Chef Salad with grilled chicken. The salad consisted of a lot of lettuce, a couple slices of tomato, three cucumber slices, thinly sliced watery onion, and a ton of shredded cheese. Not exactly a "chef salad" by definition. The grilled chicken breast that topped the salad was very good. The service was spot on. Extremely friendly staff and the restaurant was packed. We tried it based on reviews, but we were not impressed with anything other than the sweet waitresses. Definitely won't be stopping in again next time we drive through town.

The food is good. The waitress listed the side items, but didn't mention that some of them had a surcharge of .99. We didn't know until we got the bill & she wouldn't take the charge off. Then, when I paid her, she just kept the change without returning to the table to let the amount of the tip be my decision. This person wasn't young either, so it's hard to believe she didn't know better.

Food is constantly good and never had a problem with service but it's the most over priced BBQ you'll ever eat. There is a charge for everything; substitute for a different side item, eggs on a salad, packets of mayo. Martha is about unpersonable as any restaurant owner you'll come across. It's a shame, someone that is sitting on a goldmine and is a one tge oldest businesses in town she has to nickel and dime the people of this town. I'm sure her father, who founded the business over 50 years ago, didn't build his business on the reputation of ripping people off.

Yummy! Had the bbq sliced pork....delicious. Loved the sauce. The cole slaw was VERY good. And the key lime pie was to die for.

Nice staff, clean and ok food. Would not go out of my way for this. No pulled pork (they slice theirs) and they were out of slaw. No collards either. The other sides we had - beans and home fries were very good. Might stop in again if I'm in Arcadia
