Even though it is late everyone is so friendly and the food is always made to order. I love the $4 menu. Some times I just want a small meal instead of feasting on a big meal.

I WAS a frequent visitor to this location since it was so close to my house.. That is until Saturday into Sunday I was stricken with food poisoning that was passed via bad beef. How do I know it was this place and the beef? My wife, my son and I always eat the same foods, Saturday we changed it up, we went to this establishment Saturday evening, I ordered my usual western burger and my wife the fresco melt, only this time we go our son chicken strips. A few hours later and all through Sunday my wife and I had the exact same symptoms, vomiting, dirreah, full body aches, how ever out son didn't have any symptoms. my wife started vomiting and a few hours later I did. So what's the only variable with in our diet with in the last 48 hours? Steak 'n Shake beef!

Good food, but it is a very dirty place. Salt &pepper shakers are covered with film. Kick plates at counter are dirty.

Dat nostalgia doe. Can't believe all these crappy reviews - depending on whether you use a coupon, you are getting a ready to made, full service meal for less than the cost of 2 items from a Wendy's or Mcdonald's value menu. It can take a tad long at times, but it is a good pre/post game from a wildlife safari of observing the flora and fauna of the Apopka Walmart. Come in, get some chicken tenders with cajun fries, and shut up.
Steak 'n Shake is not the kind of place I would ever choose. However, when you have kids sometimes you end up at places like this. The food is cheap and kid pleasing. It's not completely awful, but it's sure not good. This particular location, on 441 in front of Wal-Mart looks absolutely filthy inside. One of those where you don't want to touch anything. Ick, and we ate here?!? To their credit the kitchen is open and the server was kind. The kids enjoyed themselves. As for hubby and I, we couldn't stop being grossed out by the nasty, sticky, black grouted floor. They need to decon this whole building.

This is Steak 'n Shake. Expect greasy/slippery floors, slow service, and the risk of ...things... in your water. But the food is always great! Tonight I tried the Frisco Melt. It's so greasy and buttery, but so damn good. Don't come here if you want food fast. You're gonna wait a while to get your food. If you want Steak 'n Shake with consistently faster service, try the Casselberry location. This place is GREAT if you're on a budget or want a smaller portion.

Been eating here for nearly 7 years. Not much has changed. The service is most always slow as molasses on a cold day, the food is decent and the men's restroom ALWAYS has the strangest odor that I absolutely hate using it just to wash my hands. Today I went through the drive through and watched the woman at the drive through window walk off, stay gone for what seemed like an eternity. The cook was calling her name while my food sat there getting cold. When she finally handed me my food, I ask if I could have ketchup. She told me it was in the bag. I opened the bag and there were two packets of ketchup. I asked her nicely if I could have a few more packs of ketchup at which she never even replied she just reached over and handed me two more packs with a look on her face that you would have thought they were taking the ketchup out of her paycheck. A few months ago, my wife ordered a shake in the drive through and watched the woman stick her finger in her shake and lick her finger off. The manager happened to be standing close by, saw what happened and immediately apologized and we were told that she was fired. We saw her on shift about 3 weeks later. If the food wasn't decent, I wouldn't bother coming here. Please do something about your restrooms!!!

I used to come here when I was a child and food was always delicious. Unfortunately, It's not the same. Service is poor and often slow. The chili always comes out like soup- so watery and bland! Definitely choose the Altamonte location over this one.

I am a fan of the steakburgers at Steak n Shake. I have not been in one that didn't cook them up well, and this location is no exception. I visited this location for dinner with my family, so there were five of us there. All of our food was brought out quickly, and our service was good for the most part. My only issue was that once the check was dropped (right after food came out), it seemed that the service level dropped as well. At that point we had to wave our server down just to get a refill after our entire table had been sitting for about 10 minutes with empty drinks. Seeing as this is the closest Steak n Shake to my house, I tend to visit this location more often than the Altamonte Springs one, but I prefer the one in Altamonte Springs over this location in Apopka.

This place has your typical steak burger and fries. Shakes or shakes there always awesome steak and shake. I have placed an order to go, And I was sitting at the counter for 10 minutes, waiting for someone to help me. Finally after 10 minutes I yelled back to the kitchen "HELLO!!?!?" And some lady help me. She was very nice and took my order. My food came very quickly. But my milkshake I had to wait at least 20 minutes for. I mean, I know it was a busy night and all but that's still no excuse to have to wait 20 minutes for a milkshake. At least the staff were nice. Unbelievable. Never coming back this place again.

Here's the thing.... I love Steak N Shake. I love the company, i love the food... hell I met my fiance two years ago at this location. I am extremely disappointed to have to even give them this poor review. However, every time i'm in there (no matter what time it is) we get shabby service. I understand they get busy, they are right next to a Walmart but that doesn't excuse the attitudes we've gotten sometimes. We used to go in with my fiance's family every sunday for lunch but every time we are there we get slow service, a waitress that brings the wrong food or drink or talks about us to other waitresses. The baffling part is we have never been rude and we tip well. I think once I got a little picky with my order because I kept asking for no onions and every time they would be there sitting on my burger. The last three times we've gone, we've stood at the "please wait" sign for over 10 minutes when there were more dirty tables than people. I would go for the food but it just seems like everything went downhill since Jason left.

I'll admit that the Frisco melt and chocolate malt from Steak and Shake are a guilty pleasure for me. Nothing about this meal is good for me in its high fat, high sugar high caloric glory - but nevertheless it's tasty. So a couple of times a year, we throw caution to the wind, put the cardiologist on speed dial and indulge ourselves. Yes there are ways you can cut the calories and fat and make better choices when you are ordering here. If I ate here several times each month, that is exactly what I would do. But we don't - so I don't. I go for the Frisco. I recently saw Mark Summers from the Food Network declare that a Steak & Shake burger was the best thing he had ever eaten between two slices of bread so apparently I am not alone in my indulgence. But this review isn't really about the food - except to say that it's goooood and I like it! This review is about service. We eat out a lot and the places we frequent run the gamut from cheap and basic to expensive and fancy. Usually you expect to get what you pay for. We might forgive service gaffs at the one that we would never expect or tolerate at the other. Which is why we were so impressed by the experience we had at the Apopka Steak and Shake the other night. Our server was cheerful, efficient and attentive without being intrusive - all things you hope for but so rarely get in one server package these days. The manager was present and circulating throughout the restaurant checking up with guests making sure that things were to everyone's satisfaction. The guy behind the counter was friendly and happily accommodated my husband's request to use 2 coupons (one for each of our meals). "I can do that" he said with a smile "because I have that kind of power"! We actually walked out of the restaurant slightly stunned. We had been served, yes we had, and it was great! We have received so much less from places that charge so much more. Once again the simplicity - at least it should be simple - of good service had elevated our experience to such a level that we were in a better mood when we left than when we went in. If that's not a reason to continue to choose this as the place to indulge in a guilty pleasure, I don't know what is!

They ask for a name for the order, then they don't even pronounce the name properly.... 'Andrea' is not the same as 'André'. Second we were given our food (take out) and we mentioned that we ordered a shake. We were very rudely told by the woman with attitude, 'I don't make shakes'. Afterwards everyone spent about 10 minutes debating who was going to make it.... finally someone said 'fine, I'll do it', and then didn't go do it. It eventually became social hour when the cashier went and back and started chit chatting with the person who is supposed to be making a shake while a line formed at the front counter... Horrible experience!
