I can't say enough about Porkie's. The barbeque is amazing, the sauces are great. The location will be expanding to hold more people soon, so there will be more parking and more seats. Porkie's also does special smoking orders (I've been told that you can order a turducken by a coworker) as well as catering. They catered a 50 person work party for us and they were on time and the food was hot and fresh. It's definitely worth the trip to Apopka!

I have driven by Porkie's many times, but never at a time when I wanted BBQ. My daughter was in town for Christmas and wanted a pulled pork sandwich. So...why not? Pork sandwich basket was about $4.99, about $7.99, exact words used by the cashier. Well she wanted fries, since fries werent one of their sides (comes with two), we could substitute and get only one. Sounds good. We get home, 15 miles away, and the $3.00 worth of fries amounted to a total of 23 fries (I counted them). I know you are in business to make money, but if I would have known that's what I was going to get, I would have went across the street and got fries st McDonald's. The sandwich was good, but if I were to go back, I would definitely skip on the fries.

A great place with a friendly local atmosphere. We visited this past weekend and for the first time ate inside. The food is great! I had the pulled pork sandwhich and side of baked beans and cole slaw. The slaw is not as sweet as would like but has a vinegar taste to it. The pork is tender and the sauce is wonderful. The beans were great as were the dirty taters. The banana pudding was also very good. The owner saw that we were there with my son and gave him the pudding for free to "See him smile". Everyone there was very friendly and the service was great. They really make you feel at home. We are also going to be using them to cater my son's first birthday. I can't wait!

I have driven by this joint many times on Main St. in the heart of Apopka. Today I slammed on the breaks once I smelled the smokey goodness coming out of the chimneys. Usually I can judge how good the food is by what kind of vehicles are parked outside. You know you've found the right spot when you see contractor vans and the like littered all over the place. Today around 3pm there were only 4 or 5 vehicles out front so my usual litmus test wasn't going to help me out here. Anyways I ventured in on shear hunger alone. Once I opened the door the aroma was almost overpowering! WOW! If I could just bottle that scent for some after shave or something I'd make millions. I fell in love. Not with the counter girl you fool, although a cutie, I'm married. There was much to choose from the menu board and the daily specials. So I ordered the pulled pork and chose 2 sides baked beans and green beans. With a drink it came in a little less than $10. Almost double of what my lunch usually costs, so I'm thinking this had better be good. Well since I'm always on the road I had to eat in the car. I know I know save it.....you want to hear the story or what? So there I was driving down the road hit the stop light and started to prepare my sandwich with the different hot barbecue sauces they packed for me. Once I bit into that bad boy, Woah Nellie! Great pulled pork I tellya. I kicked it up a notch with the "triple x" sauce and BOOYAH now we got a winner! I skarfed that sucker down in no time. Now usually because I got a little stomach I leave the sides till later but I guess the fire in my mouth needed some flame retardation. So I started in on the green beans. WHAT IN THE HELL!?! It's only friggin green beans, how is it tasting this good? Maybe its the chunky smoked meat they cook in with it? Hmmmmmmm? Now I'm thinking the baked beans have got to be good right? WRONG ! Not just good, they were off the hizzook. It had a sweet and smokey taste with a hidden I have no clue flavor in it. I found myself staring at the cup with each bite thinking what in the hell did this guy just do to me with this simple little smokehouse? It was a journey my friends a journey I tellya. Go there and climb aboard!

Porkies is AWESOME! As visitors from Hawai'i spending Christmas at Disney World, we wanted to eat "local" Southern BBQ, and Porkies was all that our opu (stomach) desired. The service was fast and very friendly. And the ribs, chicken, pork and beef melted in our mouths. All the sides were distinct and flavorful. And you must find room for the banana pudding. Even our picky eater seven year old chowed down.

I read the reviews and wondered could it be that good. The answer is yes. The BBQ is some of the best I have ever had. The chopped, sliced, or pulled pork is like a good fish filet. It falls apart in your mouth. The original sauce is awesome, but there are others to choose from. The service is great also. The trip from Palm Bay is definitely worth it.

I've never had the chance to actually sit down and eat at Porkie's, but my step-dad and I did have them cater my mom's birthday, and it was excellent! Steve was really nice, gave us a great deal. We had about 50 people to feed, and had plenty of food! They delivered and helped with the set up. The food was delicious!

Very tender beef & good flavor. Excellent ribs. XXX sauce not as hot (spicy) as advertised, but good, sweet flavor.

If we hadn't read about this place on yelp we would have driven right by. It was fantastic barbecue!! We had the pork, the brisket and the smoked ribeye. It was all amazing and the sides were great too. The staff was so friendly we felt like we were eating in their home. Not for vegans :-)

yum! For us, it is worth the 30-minute drive to eat at Porkie's. A real BBQ joint.

As a native from Orlando, I can't believe I didn't know about Porkie's BBQ in Apopka before now. It is definitely the real deal and not a franchise operation. They are plenty of choices and today I had the rib eye tips with mushrooms, onions, and peppers. The meat was as tender as any filet mignon and the spices complimented the dish perfectly. For my 2 sides I picked collard greens and the stew. The greens were pretty tasty but the stew was a sad disappointment. The stew was mostly corn and potatoes with a bit of chicken here and there. The broth was weak and pretty bland. All in all though, I would definitely return and encourage others to taste the great BBQ here.

Every BBQ joint I go to, I judge them solely on their pulled pork sandwich - because it's my absolute favorite pork item. However, as incredible as their pulled pork is - it cannot touch their smoked ribeye sandwich! Imagine a philly cheesesteak with peppers and onions and mushrooms - without the cheese, and with all the smoky goodness of a proper BBQ spot. Even the mushrooms tasted smoky! Unless you're starving, take a friend to help you eat this sandwich, or just leave the bun - it's huge.

I read the reviews before I went here and expected good food. We ordered the beef plate and the combo plate w/ chicken and beef to go and once I got home and looked at the servings, I could not believe it cost $24!! Tiny sides and small amounts of meat and it wasn't very good at all!! all we tasted on the beef was fat!! I will never go here again!

Of all the BBQ places in Orlando/Central Florida that i've visited, there isn't one that quite compares to Porkies in Apopka. It isn't just the food that keeps me coming back though, it the character of the place and the great staff. Everyone at Porkies is happy to see you, and makes an effort to remember your name! Not an easy task when there is a line out the door. You'll be hard pressed to find something that you wont like, but it's no secret to anyone who works there that I love their sliced pork sandwich on garlic toast. The pork has been smoking hours before they open, and it's absolutely reflected in the flavor of the meat. Reaching sandwich perfection is only possible though when you drizzle on a little of Steve's Troubles Gold sauce. This spicy mustard based sauce takes their already amazing pork to a new level! There are no losers on the sides menu either, but I would go with Dirty Taters and the collards with a little pepper sauce on the side. They've got black eyed peas, which is a rare and delicious find these days. Others include the brunswick stew, baked beans, mac n cheese, corn, and several more. Make sure to cap your meal off with their homemade banana pudding and your visit will be complete!

I have heard a lot of chatter about Porkie's so today I set out on a mission to try to slip in undetected and check out their BBQ without being recognized since the owner is part of a foodie group we belong to mutually. Rumor had it that he would be busy with a catering event and I managed to pull it off... BIG SMILE When we arrived, my first thought was that they could use a wee bit more parking however once inside, it was pretty apparent they do a healthy to go and drive thru business so looks are deceiving. I did like the fact that they have a patio area which is nice. If you are dining in, you place your order at the counter and it does not seem to take long before food is flying out to the dining area. Today we chose to try the 4 meat combo along with a half rack of baby back ribs along with the greens and black eyed peas for sides. Mama wanted some water and I wanted some iced tea. The total came to just over $33 and after paying, they asked for my name and off to my seat we went. I was happy to see they had Limes AND Lemons for my iced tea! That right there scores bonus points since a lot of small mom n pop places only have lemon. After sitting down it only took about 5 minutes for our order to arrive. I was actually expecting it to take a bit longer since it was pretty busy when we arrived. After taking pictures of what was delivered, we split up the order so we each could taste everything. The pork ribs were OMG good. The smoke ring was just right and I really loved the rich smoky taste. I have to say that the meat was so flavorful, BBQ sauce was NOT NEEDED! Well done pit master! Next was the Baby back ribs and the flavor was good and smoky but to my surprise, they were a wee bit dry. The lady at the table to my right also had them and I overheard her say to her friend that they are normally not this dry. Next was the brisket and it was also a wee bit dry but the the flavor was nice and smoky. I personally like my brisket a wee bit dry if I have a good sauce to put on it. The pork was also a bit dry but not lacking for flavor. The chicken breast was still moist and had a nice smoke flavor but it was not a smoky as the other meats. Now for the sides... The greens were nicely cooked with a light taste of vinegar. My personal preference is a more savory green but in this part of Florida, more people seem to prefer the bite of the vinegar or some sweetness to their greens. A few splashes of the hot sauce and I am good to go. The black eyed peas were cooked well but lacked that "kick" I prefer. That pepper sauce was all they needed for my palate but not everybody likes a "kick" in their peas. There are 6 different BBQ sauces to choose from. Mild, Sweet, Sweet, Hot, Trouble's Gold, XXX and Porkie's Gold. My personal favorites were the Trouble'd Gold, Porkie's Gold, Sweet Hot and XXX. The mild was just too mild for me personally and Sweet is just not my thing. They were ALL very good but we all have our personal preferences... During my entire meal all of the tables were being checked on very frequently by the staff so if you needed something, they were on top of it. That is the one thing that MOST BBQ places fail on is checking on the dining room but NOT here! I also liked that there was a pepper mill available at the hot sauce bar. The ONLY things worth mentioning but are not related to the food are... They could use a better covering for the patio area and the sign out front could use a face lift. I did however love how the tables were fastened to the floor ensuring that are not wobbly. The decor was also a hit to me. It reminded me of a little place I would stop at close to San Antonio. Pork Ribs - 5 B Back Ribs - 3 Pork - 3 Brisket - 3 Chicken - 4 Greens - 4 Peas - 4 Sauces - 5 Service - 5 Decor - 4 The big question... Would I recommend them. Definitely... Those of you that follow my reviews know I am VERY tough on BBQ places because I LOVE to BBQ at home and have tried my best to learn the various techniques so I can appreciate them all. Porkies seems to have taken parts of a few different styles and made it their own. It is not hard to see why this place has been around for so long... GOOD EATS!!!

Wow, very pleasant surprise. First let me say I love BBQ, so maybe I am to critical. We tried Porkie's a while back. We were really not impressed and have not been back. The other day I stopped in for lunch, I had the sliced pork sandwich & fries. The food and service was so good we decided to try them for dinner. We ordered takeout, the family feast or what ever they call it. The food was awesome, the ribs, sliced pork & chicken was perfect. Not to much smoke flavor, just right thank you Porkie's. All the sides were very good & the staff super pleasant. If you live in Apopka or close by you owe it to yourself to try Porkie's, Great food, great service, great value.

I got take-out for lunch courtesy of the boss. The chopped pork sandwich was good with a strong smoke flavor. In fact, pieces with bark tasted like a bonfire smells. I prefer a bit more subtlety to the smokey-ness. Sadly, the meat was a bit bland overall. I got dirty tots and coleslaw. I had no idea what to expect for "dirty tots" but it ends up they are more breakfast potatoes than anything. They were well seasoned and very satisfying but not your typical BBQ side dish. They do taste fantastic dipped in the sauces. The summer coleslaw had no flavor. The promise of a vinegar base was marred by the reality that it was just shredded cabbage, no vinegar to be found. The vinegar can be found in the sauces though. Wow do they have a tang! I liked all of them except one marked with an "M"...not sure it's name: hazards of take-out. Less sweet than 4Rivers but a nice contrast to the smokey pork. Overall, Porkie's is acceptable but it's tough when you have Yellow Dog Eats, Pig Floyd's, and 4Rivers to compete with and I'd rather go to one of those smokehouses instead.

Absolutely awesome customer service. Great food! Used them to cater my wedding. The owner/manager was awesome to work with, very fair and honest with us. Great option for a night out to eat or a catering option.

This is my first visit here and it is delicious. I got the monster rib eye sandwich. Tons of meat, onions and bell peppers with a side of au jus. The only problem I had with this sandwich was the bread. I wish I could of been able to eat it on the bread. Besides that it was delicious! Absolutely worth a try and I will be back again! PS..their customer service is excellent!

Great place to eat, we go a few times a month. The Qsalad is great as is most everything on the menu. Been around a long time and the owner is great. You won't be disappointed

The staff was very friendly. The Monster Rib Eye sandwich was very tasty. Contrary to what other reviews say, the French fries were crispy and good. Not homemade, but good. The corn was good. The place was clean and the other items we ordered were enjoyable too. All of these makes it a 3 star, but.... I've saved the best for last!!! They get a fourth star because their banana pudding is do die for!!! Good! Amazing! Tasty! Creamy! Still have the creamy feeling! I'm happy, my belly is happy!!

Best BBQ in town, been going here for many years and every single time is outstanding. The staff here are friendly and the owner loves to walk around and chat with the regulars, and occasionally drop off a sauce or two that might go well with your meal that he had in the back (ask about horseradish sauce with beef brisket). All the sides are great but my favorite are the Taters and the Greens. Each table has 6 sauces and paper towels on it: Sweet, Mild: Traditional BBQ sauce Sweet Hot: Traditional with a kick (My personal favorite) Porkies Gold: Mustard base Carolina: Vinegar base XXX: Big kick BBQ sauce

First time trying Porkies and I have to say the beef sandwich I had with hollandaise sauce and sautéed onions was delicious! The bee was so tender and full of flavor!! The baked beans and cole slaw was also delicious!!

Not the best BBQ I've ever had, but it's a solid offering. While the brisket was good, the sides could definitely use a little work. Other than that, everything was decent.

Porkies is cool! I like that its biker friendly and the people that work there are super nice (especially the little old lady who runs the food to the table). I don't eat pork or beef so I was glad to see a few chicken options on the menu. I had the jumbo chicken "samich," which was OK. I thought the portion was a little undersized to be considered "jumbo"...it was more like a regular size at other BBQ joints. In terms of flavor, it was a little bland and I didn't taste a whole lot of smoke. Luckily, you can add the barbecue sauce yourself at the table, which helped it out immensely! For my sides, I tried the corn and black eyed peas. The corn was buttered but nothing special and the black eyed peas had pork in it so I didn't finish it. My friends had the steak tips which they enjoyed but to me, some of the pieces looked a little fatty. They also said good things about the Dirty Tators. The food is decent enough that it's worth the stop if you are in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Central Florida consistently ranks a couple of BBQ joints as their best. 4Rivers - which definitely is deserving of props - and Bubbalou's BBQ are the known local joints to get your fill of pulled pork and tasty brisket. Lesser known, but deserving of attention, is Porkie's of Apopka. When I see a restaurant in town that has local law enforcement and a large biker population as their regular customers, I always figure it's worth checking out. Add to that the smell of smoked meats coming from behind the place (where their smokehouse sits) and it's hard to resist pulling into their small lot. Seating is limited, and more outside than inside, so it may not be an ideal place to eat in during the busy hours or on a hot day, but it's worth grabbing to take home, or hitting just before or after the mealtime rush. They even have a drive-thru! Their pulled pork rivals the local BBQ leaders, and their sides are arguably better. Dirty taters are always tasty, and even their collards and green beans are good, which is saying a lot coming from someone who generally hates the long-cooked greens that often accompany BBQ. Their cole slaw is vinegar based, which is a welcome change from most places mayo-laden slaw, and goes great shoved inside one of their pulled pork sandwiches. I highly recommend the fried pickles and the spicy sauce that comes with them, the perfect snack with a cold beer. And no trip to Porkie's would be complete without a generous serving of their Banana Pudding. If you've been stuck in a Sonny's/Bubbalou's rut - both places being far inferior to Porkie's, or if you can't take the long lines of 4Rivers, this is a place totally worth trying.

Best bbq I've had. Quick service. Very friendly staff. Clean. Lunch specials run around 10 bucks and meat is over flowing from the bun. The specials also come with 2 sides and a drink. I recommend the pork or brisket. The sides and sauces are as good as the meat but the meat is so good you don't really need them. Not too smokey or fatty. Love this place. Good bbq done right in a friendly clean place. Decor is basically like any bbq joint.
