This place is tough to see tucked into a brick front row of businesses lining 441 in downtown Apopka. Parking is around back and leads you to a very unimpressive entrance. I don't know what it is about dive breakfast spots but it seems the dingier the place the better the food. The decor is an eclectic mishmash of chairs, tables and knick knacks. The kitchen and wash area are open to the dining room and to find the ladies room you have to hop over a vacuum cleaner and booster seats. The service was friendly but a bit absent. Our coffee needed a refresh for awhile before our server came back with the pot. Our server does redeem herself by bringing us huge to-go containers for the coffee! Jeff was right about the grits- they were excellent. A hearty bowl of stick-to-your-ribs grits with a dollop on melted butter on top. Yum! The pancakes were delicious too. Bacon, eggs and toast were just OK. And I agree with Doug- beats Robinson's and Woodshed hands down. This is probably the best breakfast place in Apopka.

I don't give places such a low review often but Chuck's is deserving. Hole in the wall that we almost missed when we were looking for it. When we walked in our first thought was greasy spoon. That's ok! Sometimes that is the best kind of breakfast. The staff seemed busy and nice when we arrived. After getting my cup of bad coffee and ordering, we waited over 30 minutes for our food and I had to ask for a refill on my bad coffee (I'm a bit of a coffee snob though). When my food arrived I was not pleased. I asked that my home fries be cooked crispy, but they obviously had barely seen the pan. They were almost as raw as my bacon. Yes. I sat there perplexed as to how they could have thought this bacon was cooked! The only part of my meal that they served to me that was edible was the egg which was slightly overcooked. What happened here?! They didn't have rye or wheat toast so I was stuck with white. After waiting another 15 minutes for the toast, it finally arrived... cold, but was still the best part of the meal. Then we got to wait 15 minutes to pay an get out of there... Never again. The waiter kept calling me sweetie and touching me which was uncomfortable but I would have been OK with had it not been in a creepy manner. I usually insist on giving a place at least 2 chances, but I wouldn't go back if you paid me.

not sure if we hit this place on a very bad day or what but we were very disappointed in this place we walked in and told to select a seat - we picked a booth - with a sagging broken seat - tried another and the same - oh well its a old timey place - maybe just part of the "atmosphere" - speaking of which there are murals painted on the walls that look like something a fifth grade class might have done as a project - we ordered a omelet with everything with a biscuit and gravy and coffee omelet was acceptable though the eggs were way overcooked, the biscuit and gravy? I still cant believe what I was served, it was literally a hamburger bun with gravy - wtf?? the coffee was very weak perhaps the staff were preoccupied by the supply salesman that was there at the same time, also, it appeared that the cooks were still in training but still a hamburger bun, really???? no sir, wont go back there

This is a neighborhood dive restaurant that serves biscuits and gravy, grits done just right, and other stick-to-your-ribs fare in a kitschy John Wayne memorabilia atmosphere. Don't let the sketchy-looking back entrance fool you into turning back. The older men sitting near the front of the restaurant, the friendly waitresses, and the Main Street location make this the picture of a quintessential small-town diner. Hit this spot before or after hitting the kayak trail, you will be filled up!

This is a pretty good little spot. Not the best breakfast ever, but the best Apopka has to offer. The food is very well prepared, and made quickly. The price is competitive with a great menu (unless you have a pork free diet)The service can be a little hit or miss as I have had good and bad experiences with the staff, however the local Woodshed and Robinson's restaurants are no comparison. I recommend this to anyone tired of the usual Denys or Perkins. Oh and the coffee is great which automatically puts them in good standing with me.

Diners, Drive Ins & Dives needs to pay a visit to Chuck's Wagon Restaurant. It is a typical small town diner style restaurant serving great homestyle food at reasonable prices. Breakfast has been my favorite choice although I have also been very happy with the burger lunch. Service is very friendly and it is the kind of place to strike up a conversation with complete strangers. One suggestion - larger coffee cups!

Great cheap breakfast! Gets the grits right every time. Perfect fit for Apopka, and easily puts the food at nearby Robinson Cafe to shame.

Seems this was our weekend to try out new breakfast places. New to us that is since Chuck's Wagon has been in business for a while now. So it seemed time that we gave it a try. Having just eaten at a similar diner establishment only yesterday I have to give the edge to Chuck's Wagon. The food here is a cut above. Our server was attentive and friendly and kept the coffee flowing. Whereas yesterday Marty's crisp bacon request fell far short - here it was on the money. Yesterday his french toast was serviceable, here the pancakes were a light and fluffy surprise. Our eggs were cooked exactly to order (and we had opposite ends of the spectrum one wanting over hard and one over easy). The homemade biscuit was also light and fluffy and quite tasty. The chicken fried steak - a test where diners are concerned with me, was well seasoned, crispy but not greasy with a flavorful sausage gravy to boot. And the grits were well cooked though I did need to add a good amount of salt to suit my taste. Overall, our food was really well prepared. The restaurant itself definitely gives off a local dive vibe. There are no secrets as all the working spaces from the grill to the dish washing area are open and visible to the customers so you are privy to the business end of things (aka organized clutter). But anyplace that has a paint on velvet portrait of John Wayne is a winner in our book! They do cut corners by using off brand condiments - I didn't even know that CVS had its own brand of syrup. But cost cutting was not obvious in the quality of our meal nor in the portions. This place is exactly what you would expect a small, hometown diner to be. No pretentions and no frills - just honest basic cooking at a really fair price served up by some very pleasant folks.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
