Great food and delivery too!! Update 6/16. Ordered delivery again and i had to check my receipt to see if the food came from the same place!! I ordered the shrimp, spinach and sundried tomato pasta. First, there we NO sundried tomatoes! Not a single one.... And the sauce tasted like they dumped a jar of Ragu alfredo sauce on top. Nothing against Ragu but for 17$ I'd expect better. To top it off they no longer give you breadsticks and they forgot silverware!!! A bummer because I've had two good experiences this one was so bad I wont return.

I came here for lunch and got take out. I got the pancetta chicken panini (basically chicken with bacon). It took a good 30 min to get my food for take out and when I ate the chicken it was pretty dry. It comes with a small salad. The sandwich cost around ~10 bucks. It's an average lunch place, nothing special. Considering there's not many lunch options in this area I will prob be back. My friend got the caprese salad which looked good. I'd prob recommend coming here earlier since there's a line for lunch and it takes them awhile to make your food. Update: Got the chicken salad and it was pretty decent.

I am writing this review solely on their chicken wings. They're AMAZING. They are smothered with caramelized onions and tossed in a mild sauce. Fried to a perfect crisp, just all around delicious. If I knew there were chicken wings that good only a few blocks away I would've been eating out for lunch everyday. Two thumbs up!!!!

Best pizza in Wilmington. Delivery was quick. Well balanced flavors and great combinations. Will go back and try other things on the menu. I had the Fica, it was delicious. Highly recommend going here.

Hooked on their Bianca pizza! Perfect amount of oil and big chunks of garlic yum yum yummmm! Their slices are huge and prices are a little high but pretty reasonable.

Their food is great, average priced with awesome service. The deleted star is due to them not being allergen friendly. They have veggie slices in the same tray with meat slices. ..i am allergic to mushrooms and have had reactions but unaware of where it came from. Now i have to ask for fresh made slices.

Another great place downtown to try! Indoor/outdoor seating in a casual atmosphere. Our party had the caprese salad with the freshest mozzarella and tomatoes along with the shrimp (4 large) and lump crabmeat salad over arugula that was fresh and not bitter. We created our own "meat lovers" pizza with their traditional Italian toppings and also shared a rabe pizza with fennel sausage and peppers. Each pizza was enough to share, even the personal size. They serve bottles of both peroni and moretti and had a wine selection as well. For dessert we shared the La Nutella (6 pieces) which I highly recommend. We will definitely be back to try more items from the menu!

I really wanted to like this place as there are so few places in the city that deliver to my condo. There were absolutely no redeeming qualities about my meal--unseasoned, tasteless eggplant parm drowned in a watery tomato sauce that tasted of the inside of an aluminum can, mealy meatballs, and the mushiest Brussels sprouts and "pancetta" (essentially boiled bacon) I've ever had. Oh, and by the way, everything was covered in a gloopy oil slick. Lesson learned--this was my first time ordering from this place and definitely my last. You'd be better off visiting one of the awesome Italian places in Trolley Square.

The options for late evening, Monday night dining in Wilmington are pretty dire. I tried the pizza with olives, prosciutto, mushrooms, artichokes and mozz along with a rotilini. The ladder I found to be quite doughy and not much flavor, and the former had great flavor, but again, the dull dough zapped it. I know, I know, the snobby Philly guy beating up on the Wilmington pizza spot. Sorry, but this one is just ok, and a bit overpriced.

Best pizza in Delaware. They also have great pasta - have done catering from here and it gets rave reviews. The Brussels sprouts are fantastic and the Nutella rolls will challenge for best dessert ever

I was a little nervous when I entered and saw the dates decor but decided to go for it. It was a smart choice. Great food. Great prices. Friendly staff. Awesome.

I asked my buddy, a longtime Wilmington resident, "Where it the best pizza around here?". Without pause, he says "DiMeo's". While my first impression wasn't at the restaurant itself, I had a great chance to order delivery while stationed at 1984 last week. I ordered a Margherita and their VESUVIANA (aka, Chicken BBQ). Delivery was ontime as expected, courteous and best of all...the pies where piping hot as you would hope for delivery. Both were delicious. DiMeo's is clearly using some of the finest ingredient out there. I'm not a fan per se of chicken BBQ pizza, but my buddy said this is one of his favorites. With the touch of red onion, and a perfect balance of all the ingredients, this was by far the best version I've had. I'm definitely looking forward to ordering some more pies in the restaurant on the next go round.

I made the mistake of coming here 20 mins before closing... i was the only one in there, the chairs were up, the girl who rang me up was cold and unwelcoming and kept yelling back and forth with all the cooks who would yell louder in a strong italian accent... i felt odd at times being in there. BUT, LUCKILY their food is AWESOME. Ordered a specialty piazza, eggplant parm, some salads, bruschetta and EVERYTHING was great. For dessert we the "La Nutella", its awesome. Will DEF come here again just NOT right before closing..

I came in on a Saturday afternoon of a holiday weekend. We chose DiMeo's because it was the only place open on that day besides pawn shops and the local Kennedy Fried Chicken, which I think says something about Wilmington. We started with the Rotolini appetizer - basically fancy pizza rolls (pepperoni and broccoli flavors). I thought they were pretty solid, although the marinara sauce that arrived with it was watery and bland. Not good. I was excited for the pizza. We ordered a large Toto: a very promising pie, offering tomatoes, mozzarella, spinach, chicken, and prosciutto. Sounds amazing, right? Unfortunately, it was terrible. Absolutely awful, in fact. The chicken tasted like the type you can buy in a can from a drug store, and had seemingly been slapped on the pizza without any seasoning whatsoever. Somehow, the crust managed to come out extremely soggy, and the sauce was tasteless. The only half-decent part was the prosciutto and ricotta, though it's kind of hard to screw that up. Maybe they flew too close to the sun with this recipe, and we would have been satisfied with a plain or pepperoni pie. But the Toto was the worst pizza any of us had ever tasted. Service was good, at least.

Best pizza in Wilmington!!! Wish it was delivered a bit hotter, but still happy to have them down the road. I hear all their other food is great too but can't tear myself away from the pizza

I was staying in Wilmington on business, and got tired of the room service at Hotel Dupont. In general, the room service was fine, it's just the menu was limited. There's no pasta or pizza on the menu. Fortunately I found DiMeo's Pizzaiuoli Napulitani and they deliver. First, I got the Napoletana Pizza (NAPOLETANA san marzano tomatoes, mozzarella di bufala, prosciutto di parma, arugula, shaved parmigiano reggiano). It was really good. Highly recommended! They delivered fairly quickly, and the delivery person was extremely polite. So, a few days later I was looking for something else like pasta. I ordered the Rotolini rolls with broccoli as an appetizer. (ROTOLINI rolls, mozzarella, parmigiano reggiano, oregano, broccoli). It may be the best Italian appetizer I've ever had, and I'm Italian. It was crunchy, doughy cheesy and the broccoli was done perfectly. My main course was the Boscaiola pasta. (BOSCAIOLA pancetta, mushrooms, peas, panna, parmigiano reggiano, al dente rigatoni). It was also very good. I live in California, and it's hard to get "old world" Italian food there. While I also like the fresh and light Italian inspired California cuisine, this place was as good as my grandmother's food. The second time, the delivery was equally fast. So, if you're looking for delivery, give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

So this one time... I found myself in Deleware. Who woulda thought. There's really next to nothing in this town. It was my first time in the area so I drove around for a while and everything was shut down - on a Saturday! I finally found the 'downtown' area and pizza sounded good. As expected, this place was pretty dead too. Ordered a couple slices, cheap and good size. Hit the spot. So if you happen to find yourself in Deleware and feel like some pizza, can't go wrong here.

An edit to my prior post: their salads are now perfectly executed for take out!

This was a pleasant surprise, when I thought I was all out of options for dinner. I got delivery and, first of all, the delivery guy was the most professional and pleasant delivery person I've ever had! Secondly, the food was fantastic! I got the chop chop salad. It was fresh, crisp, and the chicken was slightly warm and perfectly seasoned. The cheese was high quality and the salad overall had just enough of each ingredient, including dressing. It couldn't have been better. Lastly, I got the la Nutella bites. Holy crap, it's enough for a family! They were grilled and warm and oh so yummy! I was sitting on my couch enjoying the deliciousness but felt like I should have been fine dining.

Very impressed. The owner/chef was super friendly and you can tell he takes pride in his food. I got the caprese salad and pizza Neapolitan. Tasted awesome. There was tons of prosciutto on my pizza too. If I'm ever back in e area I will definitely return. This review is short and sweet because I have nothing negative to say, go here!

My wife and I were there this past Thursday and we really loved the food. We came about 10 minutes before closing but the owner was very nice and made us a fresh pie which was delicious. I also highly recommend the Nutella rolls, which I have not had anywhere else but wish more places made. As a born and bred New Yorker, I have a very judgmental palette when it comes to pizza, but this exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend DiMeo's.

This place is awesome!! We ordered mild wings, Pino's Chop Chop salad, Chicken Spinach salad, and La Nutella. The wings were perfect and the dressing that comes with was homemade with big chunks of bleu cheese. The Chop Chop salad was probably a 4/5 but definitely still good. Chicken Spinach was great! And lastly, the La Nutella... I'm telling you, I'm a better person after eating this! It's heavenly perfection. If you try anything, order this!!

I eat here for lunch almost everyday. The pizza is the best in the city and the salads are perfect something healthier. Chop chop salad is my favorite. Make sure you get there early to beat the lunch rush.

Thanks for Michael P.'s review I finally was able to eat something NOT from the Hotel Dupont or any mediocre restaurants around it. On a business trip I ordered the delivery to the lobby. The delivery, the pizza, even the salad were all very good.

The absolutely best thing about Wilmington is DiMeos. You can't go wrong with an authentic NY style thin cheese pizza here. As good as NYC!

I did a search of "Best pizza places " and this was one of the listings that appeared. I am fairly new to Delaware so I use yelp a lot when trying something new here. The menu and pics posted for this place reminded me a little of my favorite pizza place in Philly-- In Riva, so I decided to give it a try. We ordered the Vesuvianna (BBQ chicken pizza), fries, caprese, and La Nutella. The pizza was pretty good and still hot when delivered. It was not the best I've ever had, but certainly the best I've had in Delaware thus far. La Nutella rolls were pure evil deliciousness!!! My Caprese unfortunately left much to be desired--- ingredients didn't seem as fresh ( nothing like the pic posted on here, so I will post mine). I would order from here again minus the Caprese.

Excellent service! I'm starving and visiting my brother at the hospital, ordered delivery on this frozen night. Delivered within a reasonable time frame, the food still hot and delicious. The ravioli is the size of my face. And the sauce is so good! Thanks for rescuing this hungry girl!

The pizza here was great. I saw reviews on yelp and thought I would try it out for myself. Definitely worth it and the price was not bad.

It is a shame that DiMeo's has the best pizza in town because the people who work there are either unorganized, stupid or both. On at least three separate occasions I have ordered for pick up, given them 15 minutes more than they stated they needed and showed up to have only part of my order ready and the rest either not started or not in the to go bag, which I unfortunately only discover after I have paid and have arrived at home. Eating there is much the same. A number of times they have failed to bring my order to the table. Delivery has been almost universally bad as well. A forty minute estimate often means an hour and twenty minutes. Not once have they ever offered to comp anything despite horrific service. So despite the fact that the pizza is good, the tomato pie especially so, I am done with this place.

Really good pizza. I had a capricciosa and it had just the right crust thickness, char at the bottom, not too much or shortage of toppings ... Basically nothing short of perfect. Highly recommend this place.

Huge fan of the food at DiMeo's. Always fresh, always super delicious. This is well-above average food. Staff is always very friendly. Their napoletana pizza is amazing, as are the brussels sprouts. Pizza available by the slice. Their salads are fresh, full of flavor. Hard to miss with DiMeo's. A must-have for Italian food in Wilmington, DE.

My favorite pizza place in Wilmington. Everything I have had is delicious. The staff is super friendly and personable. The cheapest slices in town. Be sure to sign up for the mailing list because they send special offers. I've had the best aioli sauce for calamari there. Don't skip this place.

I rarely give 5 stars, but I seriously can't find anything wrong with this place. Fantastic pizza in a plethora of slice options- check. Amazing tiny little stromboli rolls with either pepperoni or broccoli for next to nothing- check. Quick and friendly service- check. Hot Italian men making the food and greeting you when you enter- check. My usual order is a slice and a broccoli roll, for under $5. Delicious, cheap and filling. Best deal in downtown Wilmington!

As a nutrition teacher and self-declared gourmand, I don't typically eat pizza. That is why I was so surprised by how much I love DiMeo's! They have a great selection of unique pizzas. I especially love how many vegetarian toppings they have, like eggplant, artichoke hearts, red pepper, spinach, mushrooms, and tons of yummy cheeses. But DiMeo's isn't just a pizza place. They also serve delicious salads and entrees. My personal favorites are the Primavera, Al Fresco, and Penne Mediterano. I also love the tiramisu. One last thing I love about DiMeo's: it's one of few businesses on Market Street that's open past 7pm :)

Very good ny style pizza- had the margarita pizza and was satisfied. The only downside was the $17 price for the pie

Stuck in Wilmington on business without a car, I was expecting to spend two weeks either eating in the hotel restaurant or surviving on whatever fast food could be found nearby. I consider myself a bit of a foodie, so this place was quite a find. The pizza was fantastic, and the cannoli were out of this world. I'm not going to lie, I have had better pizza, but not often. For the price, I have rarely had a better meal anywhere for that matter.

  • Stephen M.

I think they are doing things right here. From day to day the pizza is very consistent in quality and taste, where as in some other places you might catch an off day due to different chef, or the place is swamped with orders. I have heard that experimented with different water sources for the pizza dough until they were happy with the result. I love that dedication. Formally a native NYer, I have discovered 4 favorite pizza shops in the Wilmington area that I enjoy and recommend to others. This is one of them. I am giving 4 stars as far as pizza place go, this place is not a 4 star eatery, but worth the stop!

Uhm, YES. DiMeo's and Anthony's are probably the only real pizza places in this state (with the exception of the more pricey Elizabeth's)! As a Jersey Shore girl who lived close enough to New York City to eat their cheesy noms, if you're passing through Delaware or just moving here, skip Grotto's or Dominos and GO TO DIMEO'S (or Anthony's, or Pizza by Elizabeth).

This is based on my take out experience. I arrived around 2 it was dead ( located on mkt st thats the norm for a saturday). I ordered a caesar salad to go. It came with a cheese breadstick. The salad was quite large and came with fresh grated parmesan cheese grated on top. The dressing could have used a little more salt/pepper but the elements of dressing were all there. At a steal for 5.00 this is def a place id return to if i was on market st. It is a BYOB which is a rarity for the small wonder. The entrees listed on the menu sound great and the prices seem pretty reasonable.

Not much on the atmosphere, especially during the lunch rush (it's in the old Lettuce Feed You location, pretty much the same layout, although upgraded decor), but the food is fantastic! Fresh ingredients, large portions, well-made. The lunch portion pastas are a steal. Do not pass up on the La Nutella dessert, either (also huge). it was not exactly what I was expecting, based on their menu, you go in and there is a huge display or various pizzas available by the slice (slices are costly, go for the personal pie), you order your food at the register, get a table number and they will bring it to you when ready. Once they bring you your food, don't expect any attention from the staff, at least not during the lunch rush. And the dining room in the far back is pretty chilly...

We are becoming regulars. Best pizza in the area, good salads, great deserts. Casual conversations with other diners is always highly complementary of whatever dish they have chosen. Good value as well. Not high-brow but pleasant with cordial wait-staff.

Meh - went there "late" night (8.45pm) for a quick takeout order. Had the equivalent of a calzone and was not really impressed. The portion, for an $8 order was fine, but the overal taste wasn't up to par for me. In particular, the chicken tasted either really dry or like frozen/microwavable chicken (I'm not trying to say that is/was the fact, but it's what it tasted like in my opinion). Regardless, the staff was more than friendly and talkative, so at the least, you may pick up some nice conversation.

If it's ok for the kitchen staff to go from eating food in the restaurant, to the kitchen to prepare food, WITHOUT washing their hands, then this place is for you. If it's ok for the cook to handle raw chicken, not wash his hands and prepare more food, this place is for you. Hygiene is not their specialty!

Excellent. I went for the first time today and already I am plotting to get back there again tomorrow. The sides are great. I had the Roasted Cauliflower and I have designed on the Roasted Brussel Sprouts next time and perhaps the Truffle Fries.

Best pizza in town. A lot of variety in the available pies. Free local delivery. Friendly staff. DiMeo's has also taken an unusual step for a business on Market St. by remaining open after 7PM and on Saturdays. Remarkable!

It's funny- I got the Napulitana that Elizabeth H reviewed so poorly- and I couldn't stop raving about it. It was delicious! We got it with the very welcome addition of breaded eggplant. I thought the ratios and proportions were perfect and the ingredients were fresh and very high quality. I'm sometimes iffy about arugula on a pizza- I've had it before where the crust was too thin and the arugula was too plentiful for it to be appetizing- but DiMeos did it perfectly. Just the right amount of arugula on top for it t be refreshing. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars was because the inside was less than comfortable. We came in on a Saturday so it was dead, like all of Market street- but there was barely any seating available because they left the chairs turned upside down on at least 80% of the tables. We definitely didn't feel welcome. I was also very chilly the whole time we were eating. Our waitress was nice, however, and I love the fact that it's a BYOB! I'll definitely be ordering takeout from here soon. The prices are pretty decent for what you get.

I was in Wilmington for work and this was perhaps the best pizza I've had outside of NYC. The crust was crisp, without being burned and the sauce and cheese combined wonderfully on the pizza. I had a sausage and pepperoni, with massive sized pepperoni slices, and a volcano slice which was topped with buffalo chicken.

  • Jennifer H.

I have been here twice for lunch. It is fairly busy around lunch time during the week with the downtown work crowd. On my first visit I ordered a sandwich that was just OK; on my second visit I tried their pizza (which you can buy by-the-slice during lunch time). The pizza was very good, thin crust but not super thin, not overly-greasy, very tasty. They have a wide selection of pizzas; toppings include all the usuual suspects plus a some more creative options. I appreciate that they are open later than most of the restaurants on market street. A bit pricey for pizza, but even so I will definitely be back.

I have had the Rotolini di peperoni, mozzarella sticks, many types of pizzas and some of their salads and I have to say the best thing HAS to be their Chicken Bello and Chicken Milanese. . .So amazing! and YUMMY! Yes lunch is crazy and there is no waitstaff persay but they can turn tables faster this way and if that helps them stay here it works for me. Also they deliver all the way out by me in the Union Park Gardens :D

Love this place! Def my go to pizza place in Wilmington. Dough is fresh not frozen and I like their combos..BBQ chix rocks! The best part...they deliver to Forty Acres/Trolley Square/Highlands.

If you're looking for a salad served on a plate of dry tasteless bread, the Napulitana pizza is the dish for you. The "pizza" had barely any sauce; there was not enough to even cover the bread, and what little sauce there was had soaked into the bread by the time we received it. There was also next to no cheese. This style of pizza is supposed to have medallions of gooey mozzarella goodness (per the website picture). The cheese was sliced too thinly to really melt or even flavor the bread. The arugula and prosciutto were good, but if I'd wanted a salad I would have ordered a salad, not a pizza.

Love this place! Went there for the first time yesterday. It was one of the few places opened past 7 on Market street. We were actually looking for Mexican but ended up here and happy we did =) The ambiance is nice and it's very clean. The waitress was sooo pleasant and the cook came out to check if we liked our dishes which all 5 of 5 were amazing. We all had enough to share our plates and each had enough for a to go box. It's a tad pricey but it's so worth it. We'll definitely be back & would recommend!!

Liked it! In DE on business and took a walk for lunch. If you ever travel you know to follow the crowds because if the locals won't eat there...need I say more? Followed the lunch crowd to this place and I will say that I was totally unimpressed with the sad state of the pizza available for order. But I figured it had to be good because the place was packed and there was a long line. I was right! The pizza was great! I'll definitely be back again if I'm ever in the area.

Recently discovered this place and it is great. First time, we picked up slices and stuffed knots/turnovers that were devine. Tonight we tried delivery and they arrived in 25 min. I've lived in Wilmington for 8 years and that's the fastest food I've ever received (I mean we ain't in NYC). We had wings, the Amalfitina which is a fancier calzone stuffed with delicious veggies, and also tried a crab/shrimp pasta. The shrimp was cooked perfectly which is hard to find in a pasta dish. All was excellent!!

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations.
