After living in Smyrna for over three years, we finally were able to cross one item off our bucket list....a meal at The Odd Fellows Cafe. We went to an early dinner, around 5:30 pm, and took one of the few tables left, a two-seater right in the window. What could I not love about this place? It's cozy and warm. You can actually hold a conversation and be able to hear every word. The atmosphere was friendly and inviting. Sometimes I will pour over a restaurant's menu because nothing sounds appealing; this isn't the case with Odd Fellows. We both had a hard time choosing due to the fact that so many things were appealing. We started with the crab dip appetizer, which is served with crusty bread. Delicious; my only criticism would be that it could have been more evenly heated (the bottom was a bit hotter than the top, but that was solved by a quick stir, which made the whole thing a good temperature.) We had to ask our waitress for more bread to finish the more than ample portion of appetizer, because we didn't want to waste any, it was so good. It was more than enough for two people, and would make a pretty indulgent meal. For dinner, I had the fish and chips, and my husband had the roast beef sandwich with provolone. The fish was delicious, hot and crunchy, tasting like fish rather than breading or oil. The fries were cooked perfectly and delicious. Huge portion of four pieces of fish guaranteed that I was going to get a doggy-bag! I tasted my husband's roast beef, which was served with a french-dip sauce on the side....perfection. The sandwich was delicious, and the dipping sauce added a wonderful layer of taste to the sandwich, slightly salty with great depth of flavor. Again, the fries were wonderful. We had no room for dessert, and both came home with leftovers to be enjoyed again. The waitresses were friendly, sweet and very attentive. Previous problems about long waits were nowhere to be seen last night; we were seated at around 5:30 pm and had finished our meal by 6:30 pm. Our only wish would be for either a beer/wine menu, or a byob policy. Right now it's strictly soft drinks. But a cold beer with the food would have been wonderful. Kudos to The Odd Fellows! We will definitely be back to try another meal, and probably another and another and another. The prices are a little bit high, but I think it's totally worth it. I'd rather go out to dinner less often and pay a bit more for a meal I know I'm going to love....

Had heard that this cafe was great so I visited with my wife. Turns out the word of mouth was right. Our server was outstanding, knowledgable about the menu and helpful with recommendations. A few bites into my meal I told my wife that this was exactly like something my grandmother would have cooked. That is a high compliment, my grandmother was an excellent cook. Great down home cooking. A hidden treasure in Smyrna. Who would have thought? Try the steak, it is awesome. Their Snapper soup was good as well. Bread pudding was off the chain. Just typing this makes me hungry again. I'll be visiting again soon!

Dropped in on our way out of town on Friday evening, to get takeout, because I wanted to try the place out after hearing about it and didn't get into town in time to sit down for dinner on the way in. It was nearly full, so we ordered and then sat out front at one of the lovely umbrella tables on the sidewalk rather than taking up one of the few empty tables. Got the shrimp po' boy, and will definitely be back when I have more time. Everything looked very promising. :)

We stopped here on our way north after being in the car most of the day. Awesome little restaurant. Farm to table so it tasted like home cooking. Great break from chain restaurants!

Amazing food and service. Everything is made fresh from scratch daily, even the salad dressing. Great place to eat! I've tried breakfast, lunch, and dinner there and have not been disappointed. The staff treat you like family, which makes me want to go back just as much as the good food!

Stuck in traffic in the mid-Atlantic when your stomach starts to rumble? Head on over to Odd Fellows Cafe for some great food and service. We started with garlic Parmesan chicken wings, and were very happily surprised to be brought a plate of wings covered with actual Parmesan and minced garlic instead of a bottled sauce! I had the first of what will be many crab cakes on this Delaware vacation, and it really hit the spot. Mrs. Yelp continued her 29 year trend of no seafood and had a super flavorful Cajun chicken sandwich. Both came on toasted buttered brioche buns, which was a nice touch. If you're in the area or driving through, stop by!

Stopped here on a road trip and had a delicious lunch! The burger is divine as well as the chicken blue cheese wrap. Super friendly staff, I felt I was in the south. Highly recommend for anyone passing through.

We were on the road to VA from NY and stopped here for an early dinner. Its just 5mins off Route 1. Not only was the service friendly and the food great quality & homemade, the kids were able to find something they liked on the kids menu. No gourmet frills, none needed, the experience was great for all 5 of us. Clean restrooms and local flair made it special.

Very cute place, waitress was very nice. Food was good, loved the crab cake sliders. Overall nice atmosphere, but the food took a really long time to come out. Probably 40 minutes.

Ideal restaurant respite right off the highway in super small town historic Smyrna. Who knew?! Not I, until my hubby, kids & I went on Yelp recommendations. Locally sourced food & semi-vegetarian friendly (by that i mean a couple of items that a vegetarian can order not a haven of tempeh etc.) It's a sweet small local operation owned by Howard & his partner. The chef, Brandon is a young trained chef that is passionate about his job (he just got back from NYC's fancy food show with Rachel, his fiance (or maybe wife). She was our sweet waitress. Great experience, good food, nice peeps. They host charity events (a recent wine / nibbles). Bought some locally made orange marmalade to bring back to NY. We'll be back!

We Stopped in for lunch around 1:45. Ordered cups of soups, burger and sandwich special. Waited for a table to be cleaned off and utensils placed Sever wasn't sure what all the specials were. Service was extremely slow, almost 2:30 when order served - about 2:10 server said sandwiches would be served soon. Soups came quickly, but were only warm, not hot, tasted ok, but didn't taste homemade. Had to ask for refill on beverage. Cold air blows in when door opens. Farm to table? US Foods delivered 3 hand trucks full as we finished eating. However, sandwiches were very tasty and serving large. Not sure if will give It another try or not.

We came to this place on a recent visit to DE with the parents, looking for a good lunch spot. The atmosphere is quaint, cozy, and pleasant, as is the cute Main street where it's located. As native new yorkers, we take our food seriously, and I'm happy to say that we were all very pleased with our orders. I highly recommend the crab cake sandwich, which is filled with pieces of blue crab and very little "filler" breading. The burgers were also delicious, served on thick texas toast, with a side of homemade chips. More importantly, the service was friendly, as we met and chatted with the owner after dining. We will definitely be visiting The Odd fellows Cafe on our next trip!

Beautifully quaint restaurant in an historic building on Main Street Smyrna. Food is simple but delicious coming straight from local farms. Friendly servers and owner make you feel like you lived there. And after a great breakfast, I wish I did.

Everything here is overwhelmingly delicious! Owner is the chef..says it all. Love and dedication into every single dish. - Cajun chicken sandwich was super flavorful. Did not get the spicy but the BBQ sauce on it was great! Chicken was perfectly cooked - bruschetta is a must order! The balance of flavors with the crab and balsamic...so perfect - raspberry dressing for the salad is made fresh from actual raspberries! - crab cake is yum! Not too salty, uses pretty lumpy crab meat, and broiled to a nice crust on top! - pulled pork sandwich was okay. Most people would love it but I am not the biggest fan of pulled pork I suppose. - tuna salad sandwich was good! Not drowning in mayo, nice crunch from celery, bread was perfectly toasted and buttered The waitress was very friendly and helpful. Indulged my mom in her quirky questions about life in deleware...

Stopped in for Sunday brunch with the family. Reviewed the menu and didn't locate breakfast/brunch food. Was advised no brunch on Sunday. Ordered crab cake platter and chicken Alfredo. Met the cook/owner Willie and he was very nice. Food and ambiance is great and will return. The cost is in line with the food.

While I will admit that this is a quaint little cafe that pleases your eye when you pull up, that isn't enough for me to recommend a visit. In this case, I would actually go so far as to encourage potential passerby diners to do exactly that - pass on by. We seated ourselves right away (though there is not much seating) and ordered after a few minutes. Meals range from $9 - 25ish. I got the chicken club sandwich (though it had a longer, slightly obnoxious name) and my partner (we are both 32/33 years old) got the chicken salad sandwich. The club sandwich was flavorless and dry. The main problem is that the bread was toasted far too long and then the mayo was put on long after the bread had gotten cool. So, none of the flavors blended together. Add to that some very dry turkey and the end result is just not good. The chicken salad was similar. The chicken was very dry so even with extra mayo, it just was difficult to eat. In the end, we were not satisfied. The food was less than mediocre and the food was not priced accordingly. We would definitely not return.

Went back after a year since I live down here now and this place is worth the wait (which there was as it was a Friday evening). Their food is simply amazing and great portions for the price. We got the crab dip which was amazing. The wife got the roast beef sandwich which she thoroughly enjoyed. I got the special which was a steak and crab cake with broccoli and a loaded baked potato. One day I will have dessert if only I didn't want to eat everything in the menu. Ask for the special of the day, it'll be worth it.

The first time here and it will not be the last. The food is very good, you can tell it is from scratch. I enjoyed the crab dip. The service was incredible, very impressed. This is a very small place which gives it a great atmosphere.

Out of town and saw great reviews. Had to pay additional toles to get here, but the reviews looked good. I had to drive 20 min out of my way, but I wanted to try the place. I got there during business hours and they informed me that they decided to close early. Not great customer service. Now I will have to hope that someone else is open. Would not recommend to anyone!

Amazing food and desert. The atmosphere is something that my wife and I have never experienced before anywhere. This place puts a 5 star restaurant to shame. The staff was very pleasant and did not rush us. You have to stop and enjoy a nice dinner when you get the chance. My wife and I are hooked and will be returning once a week if not more.

Random stop on my way home to VA. Great small town cafe. Locals I'm sure know of it and how good it is. If you're traveling through, definitely worth stopping in. Excellent fresh food and super friendly staff.

I have lived in Smyrna for 8 years and finally we have a great little bistro! Food is fresh and cooked to order, service is ok but very friendly. Not a place if you are in a rush , but great for a relaxing meal. I have had everything from the burgers to sandwiches, entrees and desserts all were delicious. I especially like that the chef/owner is present and will make a requested change to an item if asked. I look forward to my next visit.

This place was delicious! Great food and they even let us bring our wine in at no extra charge. They did say they were working on their liquor license, so I'm not sure how long the BYOB will last, but still had a great time. I had the bruschetta and it was great :).

We were not very impressed with this place. This is our second time dining here. The first was for dinner a couple months back and the experience then was OK so we gave it another go for breakfast. We probably should have just gone with our earlier gut feeling and headed to Dover instead. First we ordered an order for my daughter and I. 2 separate orders. When the waitress came back she mistook our order and combined it as one order. But because we waited an hour already I just left it alone. Then our side order of bacon was not included. Again since it took an hour I just let it be. Needless to say we won't recommend or be back again

A friend of mine is a long time friend of the chef Willie. He was so pleasant and accommodating. The decor is a homey.. historic type place with exposed brick and eclectic works of art. The waitress was adorable. I think the Co owners were sitting outside at the mini table and chair set. They had greeted me at the door and wished me well on my way out. .. OK the food! Crab bisque had a sherry aroma and wad the perfect consistency. .. cheese steak was fabulous. . Flavorful REAL steak. .. Nice blend of cheese and herbed and buttered bread. .. oh my!. Tasted the ribs which were ridiculously delicious. OK enough already. Wonderful people. . Food. . Decor. . Great dining!

Went for dinner the other night. Excellent meals - calamiri to start, crab cakes and tuni prepared just right. Sides of veggies were fresh and tasty. Plan on bringing some of your meal home (the crab cakes are huge). Prices a bit high for the area, but worth it. Great service; definitely will be returning.

Stopped in at Odd Fellows a week or two ago for dinner, and thought it deserved a review. The atmosphere is quaint, and the limited seating makes it intimate and quiet. The food was delicious, and the pork chop I ordered was easily the biggest one I have ever eaten. (I saved half for another meal - lol.) I gave the restaurant 4 stars instead of 5, because of some minor service issues. First, when ordering, we asked the waiter for a recommendation, and instead of stating what other diners might have complimented them on or what the chef thought was good, he replied "I'm a vegetarian, so I have no idea which of those is better." (I was deciding between two meat-based meals.) That was certainly an odd way to "sell" the business - lol. And after ordering my soup as an appetizer, my dinner companion got theirs, and then several tables who were seated after us got their soup as well, the waiter finally realized he forgot my soup after about 10 minutes after my companion got theirs. Both were relatively minor issues, and it won't stop me from dining here again, but I couldn't give Odd Fellows a 5. I'm trusting they will improve upon the service as they get more settled in their location, and I'll be updating their rating to a 5 soon! :)

What a great little place for Smyrna. I live right down the street and have had lunch and dinner there. The dinner was fantastic. I had Pasta Bolognese. The pasta was done perfectly and the sauce was meaty and well seasoned. My son order Prime Rib and it was huge and delicious. It was so big that my wife and I had the leftovers the next night for dinner so we got three meals from 1 'serving'. And his cut was small compared to others we saw! My wife had the fried chicken and it was really good. Crispy, tasty, juicy, outstanding. I'd give 5 stars except for our lunch experience. We ordered lunch to go. The Crab Soup was heavenly. The homemade potato chips were absolutely awesome. However, the wraps we got were 'eh.' I could have gone to Royal Farms and gotten the same thing. They weren't bad but they weren't at the caliber of the dinner offerings. We ordered the $5 lunch special so they were the budget items. They were worth $5 in my opinion but they didn't blow me away. I'll have to give the regular lunch offerings a try and update my review down the road. If you are in the area you definitely want to give them a try. We will be back and look forward to trying new menu items.

Visited Odd Fellows for the first time last night for dinner. I ordered the Black and Blue Burger and Crab Rounds for appetizer. I can honestly say this was the best burger I have ever put in my mouth. Fresh, juicy and full of flavor! The crab rounds were also extremely tasty and full of lump crab meat, no filler! The house made chips and fries were also made to perfection! I will definitely be visiting again to try the steak! The staff is very friendly and personable. Thanks for a great evening!
