A nice family friendly restaurant with excellent customer service and fair prices. Food was good, nothing life changing but not bad at all. If you're just passing through like we were, this restaurant is definitely the best option.

What a gem in the middle of nowhere!.. On the way home. Superior service, free chips and homemade salsa, great food with good prices in a very fun atmosphere! My kids thought they should be a franchise but I say it is their uniqueness that makes it so great.

Went here on a Friday night for dinner and it was packed. Folks were waiting to be seated. This did not have a big impact on service however as we were seated in a reasonable time, drinks ordered and food arrived all as expected. The food itself was standard Mexican-American fare that as my review states was A-OK. It was neither remarkable nor could I find fault with it. I will say the salsa was a bit bland. Price was OK for a dinner for two. In the end, I would go here again but I wouldn't drive out of my way to seek this place out.

Just found out tonight: they serve Paella here! This makes sense considering that one of the two owners is Galician (a province in Spain). I was told that it takes 35 minutes to prepare (that's a good sign -- paella bakes in the oven). You can call in advance prior to visiting and have it waiting for you. Definitely ordering it the next time. I suspect it's not cheap but, hey, paella is a Spanish delicacy. It's rare to find restaurants that will prepare it!

Great service at this location. It's inauspicious in it's location, but it is very bright and attractive from the outside. Their sangria is very dangerous--it is strong but does not taste like it. The food is always hot, the owner is always there to ensure you enjoyed the meal, and the waitstaff is very knowledgeable and friendly.

I am just returning from a weekend at the beach with my friends. I had really been looking forward to going to the Cactus Cafe for dinner. I have eaten at this location and the Cactus Cafe on Lighthouse Road. They have the best chicken dish that I have enjoyed on several occasions, Pollo Imperial, it is chicken with crab imperial in a champagne sauce. It came out plated differently but tasted the same. Some pieces of my chicken were rubbery and not cooked through. Nothing ruins a meal more than eating raw chicken. I told our waiter, and he offered to take it back and get a new one. A few minutes later he comes back to the table and says, " The chef said that it was cooked and not raw, do you want to order something else?" I decided not to reorder that dish or anything else. Who runs a restaurant with that kind of attitude? I know when chicken is raw and you NEVER tell a customer that they are wrong! Will not be going back.

My wife and I were traveling to Virginia Beach and stopped here to eat. The food was excellent! I would highly recommend it. The salsa and chips are made fresh daily. I had the enchiladas and my wife had the fish tacos. Both were great.

Just had dinner here with my husband and two children ( ages 7 and 9). Very decent dinners. I had chicken fierrito which was really good. My kids had chicken tenders and a kids beef taco and they enjoyed them as well. My husband had beef enchiladas and "the amount of cheese they put on it was insane". Bill was less than $40 for the four of us with no liquor. Great experience. Staff was friendly. I would return here again next time we are in the area.

Wow! Fabulous find just outside of Ocean City. The dining area is small and just this side of cramped, but fine. There was live guitar a couple of nights. We visited 3 times during a 2-week beach stay this summer. It was crowded and amazing. Get a pitcher of margaritas -- on the rocks -- so refreshing, offers just the right flavor and buzz, not obnoxiously sweet like some can be. The chips and salsa.... I can't say enough about the salsa. I could put it in a glass and drink it, it was that good. YUM. Just the margs, chips & salsa could be a fun night. But.... we have kids....so.....hehehe, you know....Compromises must be made. I don't even know what we had for entrees. Something different each visit but we loved everything. Service ---- there was a sweet young lady who greeted us each visit and showed us to our table. The first night there, we had a young male waiter who was anxious to please but not inexperienced. The other two visits -- an older, bald, rather stern Mexican/Spanish/Latin (am I being non-PC?) gentlemen who was a little intimidating to our kids but sort of grew on us. FORGET the crappy fast food, "early bird buffets" and overpriced, overrated tourist traps. Cactus Cafe is awesome, filling, wallet-friendly, family-friendly, and just a plain great place to eat at the beach.

Awesome and fun place! Food is consistently good. Must try the Grouper Griego! Paella is also worth the wait. This is one of the best restaurants in the Ocean City, MD area. Love the Cactus Cafe!

definitely the best mexican food in the area!! very consistent food, friendly servers. can get busy during tourist season, but generally since it is off the beaten path, usually you will not have a wait! this location is an old house so many rooms are converted into dining areas. there is also a small bar here as well. lots of graffiti on walls from customers. definitely a worthwhile experience if you are looking for good mexican food at non-touron prices.

Always ask about the specials they are hard to risit. Service is awesome everyone is inviting and friendly. Prices are low considering the location and the quality. Great family atmoshere. Try the seafood chimi when you go!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
