DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY FROM HERE. very disappointed with rudy's pizza in newark. i ordered a gourmet Margherita pizza described on the menu as fresh tomatoes, fresh mozerella and basil. describes a classic Margherita pizza. what arrived was a cold piece of dough slathered in tomato sauce, no fresh tomatoes, a few polka dots of cheese and almost indistinguisable flecks of something green that wasnt fresh basil. taste more like romaine lettuce. and the milkshake was totally melted. the mgr tried to play it off as 'thats how we always make Margherita pizza'. very disappointed.

We ordered takeout for lunch last Sunday and were very happy with Rudy's. The Calzone we ordered was very tasty and a great buy for $8.99. It came filled with mozzarella, ricotta, and ham, in a buttery crust, and with marinara dipping sauce. We also ordered the appetizer sampler, which consisted of 3 chicken fingers, 3 mozzarella sticks, and breaded mushrooms and zucchini sticks, all for $8.99 also. Both items were just enough to feed my girlfriend, my son, and me. Although we didn't dine-in, the ambiance at Rudy's seemed very charming, with column-lined booths, tasteful decor, and TVs if you are so inclined. I would certainly order from Rudy's again. Maybe I will dine in next time, and update this review concerning service.

I have been a long time customer of Rudy's, but won't be anymore. The quality has greatly diminished , I don't know if it's due to different staff or ownership, but ordered a Rudy's special cheese steak today and what I got was a pepper and onion filled roll with a sprinkling of steak. Where's the beef? No meat on it what so ever! Didn't taste any cheese at all and the sauce changed, nasty! Their chicken piccata used to be one of my favorites but stopped ordering that long ago due to dry chicken and just a tsp of spinach. Sad, because I used to really love this place. I just hope they see this and do something to improve the quality of their food . However I won't ever know cause I won't be ordering from them ever again.

Terrible customer service. Placed an order for delivery and they called me an hour and a half later to cancel it because their delivery person said my address was a mile out of their range. (They have a seven mile limit, I'm 8 miles away). Why couldn't they just deliver the food after waiting an hour and a half?!? They knew they address when I placed the order and never said it was too far away. Will never eat from there again, horrible customer service and mediocre food- just not worth it.

So sad how bad this place has dropped in quality. There was a time this was a stellar place for pasta and pizza. No more. Don't know if it's new ownership or what ? Staff clueless on items on menu, and delivery service is terrible. Last two orders had missing items and had to wait a hour for them to bring food back ... Never again!

Pizza was pretty good. Usually hard to find good pizza in Delaware! Staff is nice, place is clean. Service was quick. A good find tucked away in one of the many DE shopping centers.

With very few delivery options, half of them Chinese, the other half Italian, you would think they would have to be good to stay in business. No, I guess they don't. I ordered Cheese Bread. What I got was somehow utterly flavorless, little cheese that was only half melted, no seasoning. A cup of marinara that was without any flavor, I am thinking it was canned ragu or something of that nature. On to the Italian hoagie. The bread was good. That's what was good about this sandwich. The bread. Standard crunchy type roll. The meat and cheese were both just totally without flavor. The oil vinegar seemed somehow watered down. The sandwich had no seasoning. None. Then...the worst of all. The milkshake. The chocolate milkshake. How...do you mess this up? First, I don't think there was actual ice cream used. I think it was some kind of ice milk. Second, it tasted of *nothing* very similar to a water ice, without a flavoring. SIgh. I will NEVER order from this place again. What a total waste of money.

This place is what I consider a sleeper, tucked away inside one of Delaware's four billion soulless shopping centers. Unpretentious, low-key but pleasant and comfy atmosphere if you dine in. There's table and booth seating, and many big screen TVs in case of conversational lag or ADD. It's not haute cuisine, but the food is truly tasty. Portions are enormous, prices are reasonable, and there's almost too much to choose from on the menu. I have particularly enjoyed the gnocchi and the crabmeat positano (crabmeat & fresh mozzarella on angel hair with white or red sauce) from what I've ordered so far. The red sauce/gravy is delicious and supremely garlicky. The Maryland crab soup was also good and actually had lots of crab in it. If you're looking for a tasty route to clogged arteryville, the cheese/bacon fries were also a guilt-intensive win. I finally tried the pizza and was not disappointed! Nice chewy crust and they don't skimp on the cheese. Good stuff. Compared to the area chains (I won't name names, but you can guess), Rudy's is miles ahead. I admit I was annoyed one time when the topping that I paid for didn't make it onto the pizza. But overall, I'm still a fan.

Comfy atmosphere except I don't like TV when I eat. Pizza is not to my liking (weird crust, sort of buttered and my kids hate it). So why 3 stars? Because of the "real Italian food". When they bring you those garlic rolls and spicy tomato dipping sauce, if you're lucky enough to get them fresh out of the oven, they're a little bit of heaven. But by an hour or 2 old they are "fine." The pasta arribiata is divine and huge. It comes with soup or salad (love the navy bean soup and chili), so after the soup and rolls I end up taking most of my main course home with me. It's great eating for 2-3 meals plus the original one. The lasagne is fantastic. So is the broccoli rabe with sausage. Many interesting chicken, veal, seafood, and pasta dishes I have yet to try. Wait staff are variable - have had fantastic service as well as a server who didn't know much about the food or beverages they sold. Great place if you want "good home cooking" with large, tasty portion at a reasonable price, but I'd advise skipping the pizza and heading for the pasta or entrees. Enjoy!

You know, I really want to love this place because it is in walking distance from my home and the owner, Jay, is nice, but I just can't do it. Every time I have ordered from here, I was disappointed. The day we first moved into our new home, we ordered out for dinner because we had not been grocery shopping yet. I ordered a salad and they forgot the dressing. Nothing is worse than getting home and figure out you have no dressing. We just moved in so I had none at the house. Several months later, I order two slices of their margherita pizza. It looked very good. I got home to chow down and inhaled the first slice, very tasty! I take a bite into the a huge chunk of mozzarella and basil from the second slice and I go to pull my mouth away from the slice, and a long piece of hair came along with the cheese. I almost got sick. I was mortified. That is disgusting! I called to let them know, they offered me a credit. Not for nothing, but after that experience, I really did not want to go back. So I laid low on the Rudy's scene for a good year and a half. One night I just did not feel like cooking and I wanted something close and fast. I ordered the meatball parmigiana over the phone. Some of their sandwiches come with fries, so I asked the gentleman taking my order if this particular sandwich came with fries because I wanted some. He said yes, so I asked for wiz on the side for my fries. I get home and there's just a sandwich and a side of cheese. LOL, where are my fries? Why even charge me for the cheese if I have no fries to eat them with?? I called Jay and he apologized and told me he'd give me a credit for fries the next time I order. Cool! Good enough for me. The following week we ordered over $40 in appetizers, entrees, and dessert. When I mentioned that Jay gave me a credit for free fries, the girl on the phone just said, "Ughhhhh." She asked me to wait on hold but never actually hit the hold button. I heard her and some other woman, claiming to be the manager, talk about me. Really!?!?! I just ordered $40 worth of food and you think I'm going to try and get over on a $3 fry? GTFOH!! So the manager gets on the phone and asks me if Jay wrote this down in the book. How the heck am I supposed to know? I then hear some boy in the background say, "Here it is, he wrote it down in the office." I was pissed they made me feel like I was lying. I just stopped ordering from them. Then last week I was craving spaghetti and meatballs. I read reviews on here ranting about how good their pasta was. Boy was I disappointed. The noodles were so overdone, they were mushy. The sauce was very bland and the meatballs were subpar. The roll that came with it was awesome, but that's it. They give you a huge portion, but unfortunately most of mine went into the trash. They also sell milkshakes. I don't recommend them. The chocolate ice cream tasted like it was freezer burnt. I guess I should have learned by now to not waste my money on this establishment.

I work in NYC where there is an abundance of Italian places to choose from and this place still ranks as a favorite. I like their penne caprese and they tend to have a nice special offering that's not on the regular menu. I have always found the food tasty with enough garlic and fresh ingredients. The menu selection is large and the prices are reasonable....especially when compared to la casa pasta which is nearby.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
