I'd been hearing about this place for a while now, so when I heard about a reception for a local artist whose paintings were on display in the restaurant, we decided to head down. The reception was scheduled from 12 to 3 on a Saturday afternoon, and we got there around 2. It's kinda a weird location - not far enough out of the way to really be out of the way for beach traffic, but just far enough to not be visible. A well kept secret, which is unfortunate for them, because it was actually a nice little place. Would highly recommend as a stop on the way to the beach for a great meal without the crowd. Check the hours, though - I think it's closed on Mondays and possibly Tuesdays. The interior was lovely, and I love restaurants that exhibit actual artwork for sale, rather than whatever crap prints they bought in bulk from Pier One. There was a fireplace, but it looked pretty pristine, so I'm not sure if it was just for looks? The cheese plate looked completely untouched and the place was almost completely empty when we arrived, despite the fact that the reception was two hours underway by then. The artist was nursing a sangria at the bar by herself, so after we browsed around and I availed myself of some grapes and a wedge of brie from the very nice selection of cheeses, we actually just went ahead and sat at the bar and talked with the artist for a while, til the foot traffic picked up as our food was nearly ready. The bartender was friendly and fast, and the specials looked delicious (gazpacho and vichyssoise, plus some other stuff) but I ended up going with a burger and fries. Fries are a separate side item, and when we ordered two orders of them, the bartender was kind enough to give us the heads up that we probably only needed one to split, which was accurate. The food was delicious. They also have a happy hour on Saturdays from 12 to 6. Mostly crap American light beers, but also Yuengling and Guinness for $2.50. If it had been crowded, I think it would have been very loud, due to the hardwood floors and lack of textiles. It was a bit echoey even with the few people who were there. It's a crying shame that it's just a bit out of the way enough that they don't seem to get much business, but it makes it a great place for folks who want great food without a noisy, crowded wait.

I've been here twice and really like it. The chef made me linguine alfredo, which was not even on the menu. Both times the restaurant was basically empty, so they were extremely accommodating. I love the Apple Crisp with ice cream. My mom had corn chowder and the chicken pot pie and loved both. All of the food seems very fresh and they seem to use seasonal ingredients. Basically, I would really like to see some more people here so that these guys stay in business. Good food, good service, and no wait. It's great!

My wife and I visit the Kitchen on a fairly regular basis, normally when we can't decide where to go and don't feel like driving to my son's restaurant outside Bethany. We are locals who dine out regularly. We are always pleased with the food and service at the Kitchen. The selections are somewhat limited but always well done. This is our standby that always delights!

Stopped in here for the first time the other day, pass by it everyday. The food and service were great, the atmosphere was very pleasant and the location is perfect in the summer months when you cant get down to any other place because RT 1 is a parking lot. I would have like to seen a few more items on the menu, but that ok, the ones we had were very good. We will be back for more.

We stopped by this little cafe on our way back from the Dogfish Head Brewery tour. This was the best meal we had on our entire trip (and it was a trip full of great food, particularly fresh seafood)! We both had mahi, and it was incredibly fresh and delicious. I had mine on top of the pear and gorgonzola salad, which was divine - huge hunks of gorgonzola and a yummy walnut dressing that did not overpower. The only thing to bear in mind is the fact that they were not open on Monday or Tuesday - this may only be in the off-season though, so call ahead. We were the only people in the restaurant around 3 on a Wednesday afternoon, which is a crying shame. I am telling you, we did not speak for 10 minutes as we were shoveling this delicious food into our mouths. Incredible! Not to be missed.

Had dinner at this restaurant / bar. Food was tasty & well prepared. hamburger excellent, bbq great . We tried the sweet potato fries. We're not impressed. The waitstaff was very friendly and efficient. The specials were explained and our questions were answered. Local artwork on the walls was nice touch. Very nice interior.
