Rust’s Sub & Sandwich Station

28280 John J Williams Hwy

Reviews:
Wife and Kids took car and went to the beach for dinner and boardwalk fun. I stayed behind and finished my Honey Do list. Outside at dusk it got cooler. So, I evening-walked around Gull Point and got hungry and hungrier - enough to realize how for 15 years I had passed by Rust's Sub & Sandwich, the Station with the PURE fuel signs out front. Having never stopped in I decided to keep walking two more miles to Rust's. I had always assumed the inside as being just a deli for carry out. I was surprised to find tables inside, surrounded by historical photographs of the place showing how it has evolved over time. To please me, Rusty's (as I call the place) must carry a fine selection of cold cuts and serve them generously, as taste and bold portions are truly the heart of a any great sandwich. My Italian Sub presented itself with slices of meat thickly filling the Sub and folded with the exact amount of condiments and flavors I had chosen from a list. Yes, you should experience something like a time-machine and something much more than a Pure Filling Station from long ago. Yes, you should sit down inside Rusty's and enjoy one of many pure, sandwich gems. I glad I finally did; and then I walked home in the dark.
Some friends and I stopped by here on the way to the shore, and we couldn't have been happier. We decided to stop at local spots rather than fast food, and Rust, which has been here since 1937, hit the spot. With old timey gas pumps and signs outside, and lots of old photos inside, the small place serves inexpensive, delicious Southern-style sandwiches (including breakfast all day.) Aside from what you might expect at a sandwich shop, they have other southern fare like pork roll and pickled beets. It's run by the Rust family still and is a throwback to when highways were two lanes and lots of little mom and pop stores served travelers. We got an egg, cheese and bacon on bagel, a egg and cheese on toast, and another one which my buddy ate too fast for me to see what it was, plus some pickled beets and home fries. However, the Rust family which runs it (on that day it seemed to be mom, dad and a young daughter) came over to apologize that they didn't have home fries, gave us our money back for them, and gave us free hash browns. It was a nice touch that just served to remind us of what we all miss when we drive big highways or only stop at fast food spots. Worth a stop, or even a detour if you like history and inexpensive, tasty sandwiches.

I absolutely love this place for dine-in and take-out! My favorites are the Ma Po Tofu & Vegetable Lo Mein :)
II order the Szechuan shrimp & my brother had the seafood mie fun soup. It's a very nice looking restaurant. I actually was intimated to go in because j thought it was pretty expensive but overall it was actually pretty reasonable. I will be coming back that's for sure. It was kinda hard to communicate with my waitress because of his heavy accent but hey he got the order right.
We order from them all the time. And always, the food is fresh and delicious! We will be forever customers.

Heck of a lot better than other area diners, no idea who put that this place was in downtown Millsboro, its far from there since its Oak Orchard/long Neck area. And their weekend breakfast buffet can be a touch hit or miss but if you let the staff or owner know it will be rectified quickly. This place is the first of 2 diners, the other being the (new) Lewes Diner. Some of the staff went over to Lewes, many stayed here, which is good. You can judge a place if the local volunteer fire companies people eat here, along with local ambulance/emt/paramedics do. The kitchen occasionally messes up, but they do a bang up job of fixing their issues. Like any jobs they cant fix something if they are not told its broken. As for décor, its been cleaned up & refreshed, so loads better than a few years ago, which may not have been same owner. I go here fairly frequently as I dislike the other local diners, & the staff & owner always greet me when I come in. I also stop by many Sundays since I love their all you can eat chicken & slippery dumplings, & when I get it togo the staff will do a special request for me in holding the chicken & loading in the dumplings.
Been here twice and both times with my family great food great price great service. I can't say enough good about this place if you're looking for a home cooked meal with great people this is the place to go. They have take out you can't beat the price of their food.
A nice little place with a good sized menu. However the food doesn't really have too much of a flavor. Also been there a few times at various times of the day and they never seem to have very many customers which is usually not a great sign if the locals aren't going to eat there. Not overly impressed with the place. The place down the street has much better food.

Stopped in on way to Bethany with 3 kids. Very kid friendly. They ate all their food. That's a plus. Wait staff were nice and attentive. Good selection of craft beers. Blue Water BLT should be trademarked. Delicious.
Delicious- glad we found this spot hidden a bit out of sight if you don't know to look for it. Crab cakes are highly recommended! Service gets a 5 star rating as well!

What a great little place! We drove into town late and were searching for a quick bite to eat with 2 little kids and happened upon this place. The service was excellent, staff were friendly and helpful in deciding what to eat. It was a Thurs. so it was Mexican night with specials like $1.49 tacos, $7 nachos and drinks, etc. They have a bunch of specialty sandwiches to choose from and an extensive burger list plus salads and entrees. All sandwiches come with chips so if you want fries you have to order them on the side. The kids menu was decent too. The portions were big and the food was fresh and delicious and the prices reasonable! Definitely will be back again.
Very busy but they did a wonderful job! Food was excellent, service was great! They were on top of everything.
Arenas is just what you expect, pretty good food, reasonable prices and good service in a nice place. Good location and lots of parking too. We're new to this area, and Arenas quickly became the place for us to grab lunch.

We stopped in here after bowling in Milsboro thanks to a mention from the Rehoboth Foodie radio show. First off, it's easy to park :) They have a menu reminiscent of the old FinBar that was on Rehoboth Ave, hearty pub food from the British Isles. The beer selection was a mix of bottled and draft - not a huge list, but curated with seasonal choices. Hubs had a steak, medium rare on a pile of mashed potatos. It was cooked just right, pink in the middle, warm throughout. I had the turkey reben. It was a happy gooey sandwich, hearty fare, with fries that were crisp and hot. We tried the Thomas O'Malley potato flatbread with crab/horseradish. There was plenty of crab but the horseradish was not evident. An enjoyable meal in a charming setting, we'll go again. The service was attentive and the waiter friend and helpful.
Friday night date night with the wife. The Cock Aleakey soup was not bad. Wife's salad was missing pears and walnuts and was drenched in dressing that was supposed to be on the side. They replaced it but with no walnuts because they were out. She said it tasted like in came right out of a bag salad that wasn't washed. I ordered the pierogi and paid $1.00 more for ground beef. It had very little beef in it. I thought the cheese tasted funny then realized it wasn't cheese, it was uncooked dough. It was our second time in a year that we've been there hoping it would be better than our first. We were wrong. The waitress was very good. We will most likely not be back.
Great atmosphere. One of the best crab cakes I've eaten--all crab no filler. Better than your average 'bar food'. Great service. We will definitely visit again.

Burgers were great, well cooked and the buns were potato rolls which added to the great taste. Wide selection of burger toppings. Homemade chips were very good. They have a wide selection of shakes which seemed to be very popular, I did not have one but my kids loved theirs.
The eggnog shake is scrumptious. Too bad it is seasonal. Loved the Philly Burger and onion rings. They made a mistake on my husband's burger but quickly corrected it. It just hit the spot!
Great food and quick service! We were on our way home from Manhattan and decided to stop here for dinner. What a surprise! The food came quickly and cooked to order. It was fantastic! The fries were perfectly cooked and the burgers scrumptious. If you are on 113 between Norfolk and NYC, mark this place on your GPS!

This pizza is soooo good had the baked ziti very different and carb overload too bad have to go back to Daytona but glad I found a good pizza place for my fiancé who lives down the road :)
For the longest time I did not want to try this place- it sits in a strip mall with a Food Lion and just reminded me of your typical fast food pizza joint. Boy was I wrong. I went for dinner with a group of friends and I couldn't believe the menu and I couldn't believe I was actually considering a seafood dish. I ordered the seafood marinara . #WOW fresh scallops/ shrimp/ muscles on a bed of linguini in a red sauce. It was served with a salad and garlic bread... For UNDER $20. I couldn't believe the portion or how awesome it was!! I've been back several times since and I always get this dish!! There's so much left over you get a full second meal on day 2!
This place is very unprofessional, the wait staff is extremely slow and are only there for a job ...not cause they care about the food or the people. Mannie asks the wait staff to approach female customers with his number to "chill" while his girlfriend is out getting things for the restaurant. Ive seen it first hand and NEVER will i ever go back there again nor will i ever recommend this place to anyone!! Pizza palace should be known as a family establishment, a place to make memories. ...not a hook up. Women deserve to be treated with respect Mannie, not degrade them when they turn you down. That place is in diar need of a clean sweep....out with the old trash in with the new! Find people that wanna work there ...not ones that are just there to get enough money for a hit. Once upon a time that place was wonderful!.....not anymore.....dont waste your time, your dignity, or your money.
