Great food and very ethnic. Choice of sauce with most dishes. Little pricy but well worth the money. Great seafood pasta. Hey make sure you are taken care of. Staff very friendly. Love the martini selection.

Hate to write this but I was really disappointed. Service was excellent. Hostess, waiter, and bus personnel were all helpful , attentive and friendly Antipasta was excellent Entree was not so good. I LOVE gnocchi, Would not recommend these. Sauce was too bitter and I could not appreciate the pasta it smothered. I want to find a good go to regularly restaurant and La Piazza will not be it. Someone needs to work on this dish. Less sauce to start and think of either a blush or white sauce. Other in our party said 3 out of 4 they would not recommend. Back to Caruso's for the time being.

Food was OK. Everything was very salty and certainly nothing special. My main problem has to do with the restaurant service. Our waiter seemed completely disinterested, almost annoyed that he had to serve us. He would half toss our dishes onto the table and wouldn't come back for extended periods of time, even when he clearly saw we were out of water, were finished eating, etc. He'd sigh when speaking with us and was not very friendly or professional in his interactions. What was perhaps even worse, NONE of the prices on the menu matched the prices on our bill. I thought was being silly and just remembered wrong, so we didn't say anything when we paid the bill. But when we were leaving the restaurant, I asked to look at the menu, and sure enough--nothing matched. Prices varied up and down up to $3 on every single item. This is just ridiculous to me. It speaks volumes about the disorganization of the restaurant and the management's lack of attention to detail. We will absolutely not be returning. I'm disappointed that we spent money in this restaurant even once.

This Italian restaurant had the best Italian food I've had in a while, the chicken Alfredo was delicious, I just wish service was a little better, took a while to get our food.

Nice little independent Italian restaurant. Decent size portions. Lots to choose from. Big selection of desserts. Nice place to dine in the afternoon if you are looking for a quiet place.

Decided to try the restaurant today since we were in the area. The restaurant is located in a plaza so we weren't sure if this restaurant would be good. To our surprise, the restaurant decor was very nice. There is a nice size bar if you'd like to just stop in and have a drink. The restaurant area is a nice size & decorated well. I started with the soup of the day (crab/corn chowder) & hubby had Calamari. Soup was OK, but nothing to write home about. The base of the soup (was a bit too thick for me), but was still good. Had the soup wrapped to go so I could water down a bit at home to fix the flavor. Hubby liked the Calamari. See pictures of soup & Calamari. Second course was the house salad for us both. I ordered Balsamic dressing. Do not order the balsamic dressing as it was all oil (see picture). I stired the dressing several times & it still was all oil. I had my salad wrapped to go so I could enjoy the rest of the salad at home with my own blend dressing. The salads were both fresh....just do not get balsamic dressing. Hubby had blue cheese dressing & said it was very good. Third course for me was seafood linguine & hubby had Chicken Marsala (see pictures). We both enjoyed this course. Only downside for me was that they didn't bring the dish for my shells until I requested. Not a deal breaker.....but it does speak to the service. We had desert (and forgot to take pictures). I had lemon cake & hubby had tiramasu. Both were the best part of our meal. Both the food & service could use improvement which is why I am giving three stars. If they put a little effort into it, they can easily have four stars. Happy dining!

Stopped here after seeing it had some of the better Yelp reviews in Middletown, Delaware... at least that's where I think it was. We were famished so we ordered the bruschetta and eggplant rollatini to start. The bruschetta was terrible. The bread didn't look or seem toasted - no change in color, just texture. I think they just used week old bread, seriously. It was piled with tomatoes and each piece had a single small cube of mozzarella on top. The olive oil tasted super low quality and barely did anything to moisten the amazingly hard bread. Eggplant rollatini was more of the same, really breaded eggplant and flavorless ricotta in the middle with sauce that tasted right out of the jar/can. It was all downhill from there. My husband had the veal and didn't even bother with eating past the first piece, very strange for him given that he loves to eat. I had the carbonara and it was served SO hot that the sauce literally never congealed and it turned out to be a really watery dish. The servers were totally in the weeds with about 3 tables each. While our server was talking to us about the specials, she was also directing the other server on where to drop her food. Even though she dropped by a few times during our meal, our waters were pretty much always empty.

From the moment you walk in, you feel at home. Ask for Eric or Ricky, the service will be exceptional. My favorites here include the ribeye, shrimp Parmesan, or any other special. Don't forget to finish it off with the peanut butter torte. Love it here.

This is one of our regular haunts when it comes to Happy Hour Dinner. The bar could stand to be bigger, as to often it is standing room only. The atmosphere is like an Italian style Cheers..... We have made many friends of all the regulars we see. The menu is extensive, but our favorite reason for going is the large number of specials they offer every night.! The bartender is fantastic and we have had numerous servers over the years, with never having a bad experience. If you are looking for great food in the Middletown area, you cannot go wrong with choosing this restaurant! Don't skip the sweets after dinner! We take them home!

This used to be a better place, but the owner's method is to start it off then hand off the restaurant to the staff, and move on to a new project. When this happens, it shows in the food quality. We had ordered the Cioppino special. It was expensively terrible. A nasty pile of overcooked scallops, lobster tail and clams on a bed of soggy gnocci. That was a bad idea to put anything with shells over gnocci. I left it back pretty much untouched. A good restaurant will be concerned if you don't eat your meal, but they never noticed. The dessert was billed to be a cassata (rum cake) but it was a bakery cake and nothing like a cassata, inferior mass-produced confection. Expensive, sweet and uninspired. Skip the cakes. This used to be a special Italian place, but now it's more of a family place with a popular bar. If you stick to the inexpensive dishes, you will get your money's worth.

Meh .... Came down from Philly for a birthday event here. So so. ... All the way around. The topper after the SLOW service ( 20 min after ordering to get a glass of wine) ... Cold coffee with desert.

Penne vodka & chicken saltimbuca excellent. Chicken Parm a little on the small side but not bad for $12.00. Our service was quick and accurate

I'm an extremely picky eater, especially about Italian food (Olive Garden is the devil!), and La Piazza meets and exceeds my standards every time. The food is fantastic! And the wait staff are very good too - that perfect mix of friendliness and attentiveness that never strays into intrusive or annoying. The bread and salads are delicious. For an excellent appetizer, have them ask the chef to make you the fried buffalo mozzarella - no "mozzarella sticks" compare! I love the fettucine carbonara (make sure to ask for it without peas, if you hate them like I do!), and also the penne a la vodka. My husband gets different things every time we go, but has never had anything less than amazing. If they have any kind of lamb special that day, GET it! They do beautiful things with lamb. The desserts are varied and top-notch. I was thrilled to find a local place that carries Dark Side of the Moon cake, one of my all-time faves! Their cannoli are good too, though I must admit that I personally prefer mine without citron, and theirs contain it.

Good place, been there several times. Food is good to outstanding, prices are moderate to a bit high. Tonight my fiancé got the lobster ravioli which was excellent and only $15. I got a special which I can't pronounce what they called it but it was basically chicken topped with scallops and crabmeat in some sort of white wine blush sauce with a side of spaghetti. It was also excellent but $23. The atmosphere is very nice. The waitstaff has been excellent. I definitely recommend.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
