Delaware doesn't have a plethora of great Mexican restaurants, but this one is the best I've had in a long time. Fresh and authentic, you actually leave feeling full and happy and not like you're stuffed full of crap. Great drinks, staff and most importantly- FOOD.

This is the worst of the Mexican restaurants I have been to since moving to Delaware. The food was bland, the portions small, the staff inattentive, and the prices high. We will never be back. The Border Cafe in Christina blows this place away.

A group of 9 of us visited Mexican Table on a Thursday evening. We called ahead and weren't sure exactly how many were going to attend, but they were flexible and friendly about our uncertainty. They have a very nice assortment of Margaritas, and they were nicely mixed and very generously sized. The chips and salsa on the table were tasty, and refilled multiple times at no charge. I ordered the Carnitas con Nopalitos, which was excellent, very fairly priced and nicely portioned (enough for leftovers!) The service (especially for a larger group) was excellent and the waitperson was very friendly. When it came time to serve us, other waitstaff joined in to make sure we all got our dishes promptly. We were too full to have dessert, but we all left full, happy, and very satisfied. I don't visit Hockessin often, but this is probably one of my go-to spots to eat. Nice job!

Food was good, but service seems to fall short. Looks like the larger the party the better the attention. My husbands water went empty & there was never a refill. 20-min after we had already finished eating (a different waiter came by to check on us) my husband, @ that point got to ask for more water, AND even though my EMPTY water glass was right next to my husbands, there was not only NO OFFER to see if I wanted a refill, but when he got his water, they put it right next to my empty glass and walked away!!! It also took a long time for our food to come that we ended up ordering dessert to go -- and even that took a long time (abt 30-min). Mind you our waiter was very courteous & nice, and the food was decent (not good; not great), but service truly lacks.

We've been here plenty of times and the food never disappoints. The drinks are great...they may taste like fruit juice, but half way through the drink you realize it's WAY stronger than you thought!!! Service is great, everyone is super friendly. Definitely a great Mexican restaurant in Hockessin. Btw, if you don't like his place you should probably stick with burgers. Just sayin'...

Where do I start? Well, here are 2 HUGE tips when eating at a Mexican restaurant. 1. If they have a burger on the menu that isn't in the kids menu.....leave! 2. If you don't see any Mexicans eating there....leave! I've never eaten at a place where the food had absolutely no flavor at all. I would bet money the chicken was boiled and then rewarmed to go into my chimichanga. The pico, rice, and beans had no taste. I made the attempt to mix everything together on my plate, hoping the flavor would magically appear....it never did. The waitress never asked us if we wanted refills until AFTER she came to collect the plates. The portions are way too small for the prices they charge. Now some of you are saying "maybe they're busy and you eat fast" or "everyone has different taste so it may be good to those who don't like spicy foods" or "how much food do you expect to get you fat bastard?!"If that's you than give it try. You may like it. but here's some food for thought for you......the tables have dark red table cloths. When your done your dinner, just like the people that were sitting there before you, they prep the table by flipping the table cloth to hide whatever was spilled on it. That's right, they don't replace the table cloth they just flip it over and put it back on the table. Nice eh?!

This restaurant is now called Mexican Table. We came here for lunch and enjoyed some tacos with a yummy pulled pork with onions, chicken quesadilla, and some enchiladas along with some guacamole for our chips, some mojitos ($3.99 on Mondays!) and some churros and sopapillas. The guacamole was so creamy and had big chunks of fresh avocados. The pulled pork tacos lacked some flavor along with the chicken quesadillas. The enchiladas were your traditional Americanized Mexican restaurant enchiladas, nothing special but nothing terrible. Mojitos were great and they have a lot of flavors. Churros and sopapillas were also what you would expect- again, nothing special but pretty good. The wait staff was a little slow but that may have been because we were there on a Monday afternoon. They do have some good things on the menu that you wouldn't expect like duck confit tacos that we will be back to try!

Very good poblano soup and chiles rellenos. Even had live music which was a pleasant surprise. I will definitely go back next time I'm in town.

This place is awesome...it's hands-down one of the best Mexican places in Delaware...I might go so far as to say it is THE best in Delaware...honestly I cannot think of a better place. The service is great, the place is super clean, and the food is hot and delicious. What more can you ask for...these are the essentials for any great restaurant. Hockessin...you are lucky to have Palacio Maya in your town!!!

Descent mexican food with fresh chips and salsa. Great service and a full bar. This is one of our regular stops. The tacos de asada are one of my favorites, along with the enchiladas poblanos

I had dinner here recently. Since there weren't too many other customers I was seated right away. It was pretty quiet there. Their complementary chips and salsa were bland and didn't really seem too fresh. I decided to order the chicken enchiladas verdes. I've had this dish in a bunch of other Mexican restaurants but this one was really bland. Plus it was a little dry. The rice wasn't bad and the beans were fine. Their horchata just tasted like milk and didn't even have any cinnamon. Nothing was awful but I've had much better Mexican food in Delaware (check out my reviews.) With that said, I would probably go back if I was in the area. There aren't many Mexican places in Hockessin; mostly pizza joints. But since Kennett Square isn't too far I just might check out the Mexican places there.

Service is very prompt, food tastes fresh and ambience is nice for a date. I do think prices could be.more veggie friendly but overall quality makes up for it. They are well staffed and attentive which is a huge bonus!

Anybody who gives this place 5 stars must work here or not know what good Mexican food is. The house margarita which should be a signature drink at a Mexican restaurant is terrible. It isn't even worth the $2.99 special price. Its almost as if they forgot to put in the tequila. And the lime slice is so thin when you squeeze it nothing drips into the glass. The salsa is average and a bit watered down at times. The tortilla chips are ok. The fajitas are decent, but there isn't much to making them. And for some reason the tap water in northern Delaware smells and tastes like it comes out of a pond. It isn't the restaurant's fault but even with a slice of lemon squeezed in the water it still has a murky smell and taste. They should get a water filtration system. The food isn't that bad, but nothing to write home about and not worthy of 5 stars. They are family friendly and seem to do a good business. The servers are attentive. I would give them 3 or 4 stars for the food maybe, but for the terrible house margaritas they get only 2 stars.

Food is great - margaritas (at least the $2.99 house special Lime Marg on Wednesdays ) are awful. Great nopalitas salad (Marinated cactus leaves) - fresh veggies and a light dressing. Shrimp Ceviche was HUGE and tasty. Serive at the beginning was great - but the server messed something up with my dining pal's credit card and we waited, and waited, and waited to pay our bill. Nevertheless, we'll be back. Muy delicioso!

Palacio Maya is essentially an upscale La Tolteca. Not a good thing...unless you like La Tolteca of course.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
