Love love love this place! It's our go to for local homemade seafood.. The bullet proof oysters are delish... we were at a rental on the beach for a wedding in May and ran in at almost closing and the owner made a couple dozen oysters to go for us.. her strawberry pie and murder kill pie omg to die for! I would def recommend JPs ..

My family and I have been customers on and off since the 90's and more so over the past year. We love this place... great lump crab balls, delicious beer battered onion rings and fried oysters just to name a few. The Strawberry pie is fabulous, pleasant staff and could not ask for better scenery....right on the water. Can't forget to mention "Louie" the wharf's cat, what a sweetheart! Looking forward to more good times

We live nearby and have eaten at JP's a lot. Tonight I wanted to take my husband out to get some crabs. He loves crabs! We we were pleasantly surprised that JP's had #1's - we ordered 1/2 doz and boy were they good! Not only that but our waitress was spot on too. We sat and ate crab (I had lobster and clam strips to die for) and talked and ate and had a very nice dinner. The lobster tails were a little small for the price but, the clam strips made up for it. Great job, JP's

The staff seemed like they had no clue and several parties left after being told they couldn't sit outside. We had a party of 9 and were turned away because they were short staffed. I counted at least 7 waitresses and there were plenty of empty tables. Unfortunately, I will never go back. I had suggested the restaurant to a few coworker's but will tell them not to bother. I could not choose zero stars but that is what I would have picked.

I had a good experience at this place two weeks ago, so i cam back again after the Irene hurricane. A little bit disappointed, their crabs weren't good as the last time we have been here. Their steamed clams were overcooked and very dried. Today best dish was Baby scallops with Fries. Blue moon was fantastic. I would like to blame the IRENE for unfreshness of crabs. However, we did stop by at Meding &Son seafood later for take out. Steamed crabs there were very fresh.

Found this restaurant looking for somewhere open for a late lunch. We started off sitting outside because it was nice and sunny, but opted to sit inside because it was very windy. We ordered the crab dip for an appetizer. It was delicious, although I wish there was a slightly larger portion of dip. I have lately been having bad dip with all cheese and no crab. This dip had a perfect amount of crab-to-other-ingredient ratio. Our party of three each ordered the wahoo burger. We all liked it. Fish burgers are easily dried out, but this was not the case at all for this one. It was very juicy and flavorful. The burger was placed atop an appropriately-sized bun with good texture. It came with a pineapple on top, which was a nice touch. I got broccoli for my side. There was one large piece of broccoli, which was a bit strange, but OK. The important part was that the broccoli was perfectly cooked. I HATE overcooked broccoli at restaurants. Mushy broccoli is one of my pet peeves - YUCK!!! But here it had a nice crunch. Simple & tasty. I would definitely come back here. Cute little place.

Go for the scenery, not for the service. And definitely drink something other than the tap water - it tastes terrible. We stopped for drinks and appetizers on the deck, and the food was fine, the service was so slow we ended up going inside to ask for our check, but the view was fantastic. Sit outside on the back deck if the bugs aren't bad.

Update to owner comment: he had a huge table of rowdy people but it wasn't us--he's no idea who we were. I stand by my comments; the meal was bad, ill-prepared. Defending it when the reviewer is making factual statement of shortcomings won't improve ther food or the restaurant. We made NO issues other than asking for the cold meal to be reheated. Nice spot, idyllic view of Delaware Bay on a wharf. But, there I was, breaking my rule about restaurants with a water view (they don't have to try, you are there for the view) I only confirmed the inevitability of The Law of Water View Restaurants; pay more, get less. Appetizer: excellent. Oysters, fresh from the boat, beautiful oysters. Baked with some overly salty, but savory Romano cheese and other flavors. Hot, plump and delectable. Great suggestion from our young waitress. A promise of good things to come? Ah, no. The waitress also blandly informed us that the cook fired our dinner at the same time as the oysters were started. But the "B" team was on shucking duty and the main course was held over as the appetizer came out and then the main course came right on its heels. And was colder than upstate New York that day (a 3 foot snowstorm in late May! Glad I live in Delaware.) We ordered filet wrapped in bacon and topped w blue cheese, and rockfish, to split as a surf and turf because the steak comes in two pieces. 1. The steak. Other than cold, it wasn't close to medium rare. It was raw and cold, hey I can go to Food Lion and get my own raw poor quality, tenderized-with-enzyme beef filet and gnaw on it. The bacon was precooked (vile) and the blue cheese was three lonely crumbles struggling to stay aboard and not blow off the steak into the wharf. We had them reheated (and warned them not to heat them in the microwave, or ELSE) so they didn't. Steak came back along with also-cold fish having been gas-grilled and tasting of gas and body temperature. I gave a half-hearted bite and gave up. Nasty. Vegetables were ice cold. More on them later. 2. The rockfish was a very good piece of locally caught fresh fish, firm and tasty and utter abused by the amateur in the kitchen. And of course, because it was cold and went back for reheating, it was then overdone. It was not seasoned other than a feeble fragment of red onion and pepper from a McCormicks pepper blend container. 3. Sides: Broccoli: boiled, plain as a gunny sack, had sat in fridge for a week, yellowed florets. Cut like your mom makes you eat veg, a giant ugly stalk. The red potatoes were made about a week before, baked, then reheated. They were underdone, despite having been made in advance. (Restaurant dudes of Delaware, I can tell when something is made and stored in the fridge. And I'm gonna ding you for this nasty practice.) They should have offered to re-fire the whole dinner, but you know, it costs money and 9 out of 10 people won't even notice that it was ill-prepared or are too shy to ask for proper preparation. 4. We ordered some onion rings to tide us over while we waited for our reheated dinner. They were well made except were made from Vidalia onions, which sounds brilliant until you understand that VIdalias are mostly good raw, but lose all flavor when cooked. Yellow onions for onion rings, or Bermudas. Not Vidalias. But the batter was lovely and hot. Bottom line, stick to drinks (nice selection of frothy drinks and mediocre beer selection) good bar snacks, killer oysters. Steak? No.Way.Ever.Again.

Still the best fried oysters I have ever had. The service and margaritas were lacking a bit on this last visit, but they were very busy, and I ordered a lot of oysters.
