I went for the first time for dinner on a week night so I didn't really go when it was busy or filled with big drinkers. Our waiter was the best waiter I have ever had. Just totally attentive and made suggestions as we weren't sure what to have We had clam chowder, chicken Caesar salad, quesadilla and salted caramel cake. It was a wonderful experience. A little pricey for what we had it can to almost fifty bucks but we also had coffee a soda and a margerita. I had been there before years ago for a happy hour which I didn't enjoy it was just too loud for me. But maybe some people like that. The quieter dinner was more my style. We will be back.

There really aren't words for this place, but for a convenient headline let's just go with "AMAZING!" On a business trip to Dover, DE and stopped here for lunch with five of my coworkers. On Mondays, this place has "half off appetizers" all day. Between all of us, I think we sampled 80% that portion of the menu; boneless buffalo wings, calamari, two kinds of flatbread pizza, ribs, pretzel and mustard dips, nachos, and sliders. I'll say the sliders were the least impressive, but don't let that steer you away because the bar for quality here is exceptionally high. The buffalo wings have bite, the nachos are stacked high, the mustard dips are local and spiced to perfection, and the pulled pork is slow cooked for two days. The place itself has a nice old country/colony vibe, sitting on a lake. We sat at the bar, service was quick and exceptionally friendly. She was also the bartender and her suggestions were spot on!

Let me first start off by saying. You are planning on eating hear, try getting a table outside or all the way in the back of the Restaurant so you can get a great view of the River. I came hear to eat after the Nascar race at the Monster mile. Desided it was close by. When I arrived I thought the outside was nice and the river was right there. When walking in got seated asap, and that is when most seem to fall apart. The service was downright horrible, I had to ask someone that works there if they would take my order. I waited 25 min to be served, when the server came over, he told me he's sorry, out drinking to much last night, I kinda didn't have no words for that, when he told me. So I then got a soda, order my appetizer, fried pickle, and for an entree, I ordered a half rack of ribs with coleslaw and french fries, first off I always thought that appetizer came out before the entree, we'll in my case the entree came out first, and the server tells me he will be back with the appetizer, I told him forget it I don't want it, When it comes to my food. It was delicious, ribs and fries done perfect and coleslaw some of the best I've had. So no complaints when it comes to the food. I just wish they had much better service. The prices are average like any other restaurants u are planning on getting a dinner at. Would I come back again? I don't know. Service needs to get better then mabe I'll think about it.

Dinner was okay. The ribs had way too much bbq sauce. Staff was friendly. I would love to see this restaurant enforce no smoking on the patio- smoked filled air ruins the experience for non-smokers trying to enjoy a meal overlooking the water.

My wife and I went here for the first time last night and had dinner with my in-laws. The food was excellent (I had the Elvis burger, which is a cheeseburger plus bacon, bananas, and peanut butter.), our server was great, and the place was clean and comfortable. It has a patio area with a nice view of the water, and from what I could tell, the bar nice. I will definitely be back here to watch football with my brother-in-law, as it is the halfway point between our house and his, and I definitely recommend it highly to anyone who hasn't already tried it.

When I arrived I was waiting to get seated a group of individuals cane after me & when the hostess was ready to sit the next party which was me they ruined said party of 3 but I interrupted them and said we were next . Brunch is from 10-2 only on Sunday now I am a bruncher I thought I would try something different since they offered brunch. I had the Eggs Chesapeake it was ok nothing spectacular & it comes with a melon which was sliced extremely thin I expected a bigger slice. The mimosa was delicious ! My girlfriend had the steak special but I know it sounded to good to be true for only 12.99. We love steak & this was ok I mean what can you expect from a steak that cheap? The mashed potatoes, zucchini & cornbread were delicious. The scenery is really nice even though I think it is odd that there are businesses on the top floor like a lawyer's office.

My wife and I are Burger fanatics. When we moved to Delaware it became a quest to find a place that serves a good hamburger. We used Yelp ANC tried the highest rated places and for the most part we were disappointed and then we tried McGlynn's. High quality ingredients, seasoned and cooked well and reasonably priced. When we want a good burger this is where we go. A few side notes: - the Nachos are a great appetizer - the service has consistently been friendly - the view from the dining room is wonderful.

McGlynn's advertises itself as an Irish Restaurant but it's really just a sports bar with nicer decor and less TVs. However, the food is pretty consistent and the service has always been above average. Tucked into the ground level of a business building on a lake, the views from inside the restaurant are quite nice. The dark stained wood throughout the restaurant is beautiful. The booth are very comfortable and due to the height of the backs, you can have a conversation without yelling even when the place is full and loud. The menu is comprised of burgers, sandwiches, salads, a strange variety of entrees, and typical bar type appetizers. Having eaten here about a half a dozen times, I've found the food to be consistent but never outstanding. I normally get a different sandwich each time I go and all of them have been good. Other people I've gone with have complained so some things being on the bland side but I haven't encountered this with any of my orders. The service is where this place shines in my eyes. There are a couple of waiters and waitresses that are always on the ball from start to finish. Even when the place is hopping, our drinks are always full and we never have to ask for anything when our order comes. Being more of an "upscale" bar than an Irish restaurant makes it a bit deceiving for those looking for typical Irish fare but they do a good job for what they're going for.

As soon as we walked in it was obvious that this was a favorite spot to the locals. It was very loud and everyone appeared to be having lots of fun! It was a really good crowd, and that's always a good sign to me. The hostess was pleasant and so was our waitress. I gave them 5 stars which was well deserved. My only gripe is that our appetizer came out AFTER out meal...but the waitress had it removed from our bill so we were happy and the crab dip was really good. We only dropped in for a quick bite and so we didn't have any drinks but our crab cake platters were delicious! Hand cut fries, broiled crab cakes with generous amounts of lump crabmeat, fresh Coleslaw and cornbread. The cornbread came out cold and so neither of us tried it. Overall a pleasureable visit and I'd have no problem visiting again.

I ordered the crab and corn chowder, and the fried clams, from the appetizer menu. The chowder was quite tasty, however the clams were so heavily breaded as to lose their identity as clams, and "crunchy" almost to the point of hardness. In addition the ladies room, although well marked and easy to find without asking directions, felt less than optimally clean. This was partly due to a leaking toilet in one stall, with what appeared to be a small bar glass failing to catch all the leak, and what appeared to be a hazy white residue from whatever cleaning product they are using.

We finished brunch (party of 6 ), and we will not/never return. The service was horrible (e.g. asked for Seltzer, was charged but never received, asked for a check took 20 minutes), food was cold (e.g. Eggs Mignon) and the amount of flies in the restaurant exceeded the number of people dining. I hope these comments aid in improving your establishment.

Went there on a Saturday at about 9 and sat at the bar. We had to ask to order appetizers and second drinks, even after they took our glasses away. The two appetizers we had were pretty good, but the service did not make us feel like staying for another drink. I've heard it's better if you don't sit at the bar, but for a Saturday night with half the seats empty they really could have done better.

A great experience for lunch. Really beautiful inside with a nice lakeside view. Diverse menu options, good specials, attentive service. Our beef sandwich with French onion dipping juice was wonderful! The clam chowder was bland. A pretty noisy place. Parking was available but the lot isn't enough for a full house. Go there at an Off-peak time and parking won't be an issue. Overall, we were satisfied and will return.

The Wednesday AYCE wing special hooked us, until we were seated (for lunch) and realized that it didn't start until 5:00 I ordered the mahi tacos. They tasted good but they were huge soft taco shells with little filling. They had a decent craft beer selection but they didn't sell it. I had to ask for a beer menu. Awesome location on the water (snow & ice when we were there but still a great view). Lots of TVs but half of them were frozen, and no one did anything about it in the hour we were there. Seems like a lot of potential but just missing a lot of attention to detail. I'd go again (when I'm sure they're running a special) but wouldn't expect a 5 star experience.

Very nice little bar and pub. Clean. Staff very nice. decent broad menu. Burgers were very good at half price Tues nite.... be a little paltry at full price. $1.50 domestic drafts was appealing until billed $5 for a Sam Adams on draft--- apparently they not aware Sam Adams comes from Boston :) Overall worthy pub but not perfect or incredible

Decent service, the food was decent. Nothing really one way or the other. I had the Reuben, other table mate had the salad said it was pretty good. Hummus is suppose to be really good there, from that another table mate said, but I didn't try it.

  • Jason W.

The crab pretzel is amazing. Food is good there is a nice lake view and good atmosphere. The prices are a little high but not out of line. My biggest complaint is how can an "Irish Pub" have cornbeef only one day a year.

    (4)
  • Robert L.

I was disappointed. I ordered the Reuben Sandwich. The corned beef was so tough I couldn't bite through it. The waitress, though pleasant, never came back to attend to drink refills, or ask about our satisfaction with our selections. Really expensive for what you get.

My wife and her sisters took Mom to lunch here this past week. Service was extremely slow and they got several orders wrong. Lunch ended up taking over 2 hours,....unacceptable. Sad, but here are 5 folks that probably won't ever go in there again.

We stopped in for lunch. This has become a spot I like to hit when I am in town. I haven't been here in the evening or for dinner yet. I had the New England Clam Chowder as my appetizer, pretty good! I had the Crab Cake platter for my main course, not a ton of filler in their cakes. Dessert was the Chocolate Molten Lava Bundt Cake, if you like chocolate cake, try this! A scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream is added, I'm hooked! The wait staff is friendly, prompt and attentive! It looks like this building also has several rooms, on the second and third floors from what I noticed, I would say McGlynn's can handle parties and wedding receptions as well.

Good local restaurant. Friendly atmosphere with good food. I am told that they have the best steak in town. I cannot say as I do not eat steak (but hubby really loves steak at this restaurant). I like the burgers, the sandwiches and appetizers. They have great French onion soup (best in town). Happy hour is really good as they have great specials & really great free finger food during these hours. Brunch on Sunday is nice with make your own Bloody Mary drinks. They have over 20 different varieties of these Bloody Mary drinks. Really good restaurant for a good meal and a nice drink. Giving 3 stars as the restaurant is good, but not great. They also do not add enough variety nor do they change the menu (not even yearly).

One of the best places to dine in Dover. If tried going off the beaten path...didn't come up with too much. If your in the area, you ought to give this place a try

I'm giving it a one star hoping I don't get sick on the lousy food. I had the roast beef special sandwich, so chewy with fat I was afraid I would choke. I came in for lunch wanting to make a phone call while I ate. The music was so LOUD, everyone was shouting in the place. Impossible to make my call. Find a greasy truck stop, you will be happier than I was at this place.

    (1)
  • Brian C.

Great atmosphere & the prim rib was perfect. I'm only giving two stars due to the service & poor selection of beer for a Irish pub.

Hot roast beef dish was excellent; however my comrades in arms did not enjoy their fish as the fish tasted as if has been spoiled. Server And staff were courteous and pleasant. Recommend

  • Darryl J.

Completely lackluster restaurant. Started strong but quickly became overrun by students from the local schools. Bar staff are good an the wait staff take a lot of punishment but this place doesn't live up to its location or interior decor. What looks like a good white collar eatery and bar quickly turned into a loud, rowdy college bar. The main dining rooms during the lunch hour are mostly empty, and service in the private area is spotty. Food, on a good day, is average at best - on a bad day you really know it. Also, if anyone in your party is part of the LGBT community, they're not welcome at McGlynns - someone I know well was asked not to go back there because they did not want it to become one of 'those bars' It gets 1 star out of sympathy for what it was when it first opened, and a star for the daytime bar staff, but the food, the ambiance, and the overall quality, are not worth a rating

Had dinner here while in Dover. Great happy hour specials (1/2 price burgers on our visit) great drinks, atmosphere and friendly staff earn a recommendation from me. Kind of an unusual setting. It's located in an office building overlooking a lake. We all had burgers with fries. These were pretty typical yet good. I see some mixed reviews here on this place. I felt they deserved a good rating based on my experience.

This was my second visit. The first was decent. This time, I ordered fish and chips. Both pieces of fish were soggy like sponges, as if they had been microwaved. The table was amazingly sticky. My daughter enjoyed her fajitas. The waitress did not charge us for the two inedible fish fries. She was polite, friendly, and was apologetic for the terrible fish dinners. She did say there was some new kitchen staff. Hopefully, they will learn how to batter a piece of fish and drop it in a deep fryer.

I'm not from Dover, so I am calling it as it is 3 stars. The food is decent. My wife ordered the crab cakes, they were nicely done. I had some sort of turkey sandwich on a pretzel roll, it was okay. While the waitress was ally nice and very helpful, she really had no clue as to how wine should be served. There are certain things one should do in serving wine and certain things one should not do. For instance, one should probably not tell the customer to "say when" to indicate when they feel there is enough wine in the glass. I could be wrong...

I ordered the special, the seafood boil. I took it to go. I was very disappointed. The shrimp, clams and crab were over cooked. The potatoes undercooked. They forgot the corn. There wasn't any type of seasoning. The only thing I tasted was sand. Gritty, nasty sand in everything. A good handful of it. I am staying in a hotel and I had to take out each piece of my dinner and wash it in cool water (already over cooked). They did remember to pack butter and cocktail sauce. I wanted to try some other items on the menu while I was in town since good restaurants seem to be scarce. No way in h*** I go back there.

Great stop in Dover on Silver Lake. Food was good and service was quick and friendly. A house salad is a treat with a homemade vinaigrette, eggs bacon and nicely pickled shallots. If you're in Dover stop by. Good deals on drinks and apps.

Finally got a night with the wife. Ordered burgers, trying to keep it simple. My burger cam out under done. The wife's burger came out raw. Not rare, raw. She sent it back. When it came back, the cut mark she made to check it was still raw. So I ate my burger, and she just sent it back. No manager ever came over to our table. No one tried to make anything right. Really sad. The store wasn't busy. No excuse

Probably the best bar in Dover. Good food, extensive menu can leave you a bit lost as to what to order, but everything I've had has been pretty good -- quesadilla, wings, turkey club -- on the PRETZEL roll. Do it, just do it. Good happy hour specials too. I dig it though parking is tough--tiny lot!

Well to start off the first time we ate there, I had one of the best burgers I have ever eaten. It is called the Farmhouse Burger. Organic beef, sautéed mushrooms, bacon, cheddar cheese and a fried egg on top. I ordered it medium rare with the egg over easy. It was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. Went back again and ordered it again. Burger was cooked to very well done, and egg was like rubber! Sent it back and it was cooked correctly the second time. But after 30 minutes my husband had already eaten! They took my burger off of the check. Waitress was apologetic and spoke to manager who never came to our table to apologize. Today we tried again, DISASTER! Ordered the burger medium rare, no bread, on top of lettuce and tomato, waitress never asked how I wanted the egg cooked, I had to jump up and get the waitress to order the egg! She never came to the table again. Burgers arrive 25 minutes later. My husbands burger was over cooked but he decides not to send it back, and mine was completely well done, with no lettuce and tomato. I showed it to the waitress, she said your right, it's not cooked right, I'll get you another one. 15 minutes later my totally RAW burger arrives. She waited while I cut it open she said that's totally raw. I then asked for the manager. A woman with red hair arrived at our table with a blank look on her face, never smiled, never apologized. She asked me if I wanted HER to go cook me another burger!! I said are you kidding me?? NO, I do not want you to go cook me a burger. I am sorry to say McGlynns will never see us again. We got up and walked out. VERY VERY disappointed, in not only the lousy chef but the attitude of the manager. Very unprofessional. We will never go back.

We went there for a late lunch/early dinner. I had the ahi tuna salad. IT WAS WONDERFUL and I would highly recommend it! I was even given a choice of how I wanted my tuna cooked. I don't like it simply seared...but a little more "done". It was perfect. My husband got the cream of crab soup and thought it was excellent.

I go out of my way to find local businesses when I travel, and McGlynn's sounded like a pretty good choice for a burger and pint. Atmosphere: Nice & spacious, good views, and definite kitsch (a self-serve popcorn machine pretty much says it all). Service: Our server was 20 and had "no idea" how to describe the beers on their extensive draft selection. She was quick to offer a sample and to go ask the bartender questions, but returned with only "good" as a description for the local beers I was unfamiliar with. Most of the servers were super young, but also super friendly. Food: We got the wings appetizer and they were a bit dry and stringy, but both the buffalo and chipotle sauces were tasty. The gorgonzola dressing had to be made in-house and was the best thing on the plate. I had the stuffed burger and my companion had the turkey burger topped with blue cheese and bacon, both were passably good, better than most chain restaurants, but only by a hair. The fries were simple looking (McDonald's in shape and size) but turned out to be crispy on the outside and soft in the middle with a lot of potato flavor. They stood up well to the provided malt vinegar and there were just enough on the plate so that I didn't have to gorge myself to finish. Price: We lucked out and went on half price burger Tuesday. The place has a daily special that is always a deal (Wednesday, for example, included half price bottles of wine with your meal). The 3 stars is generous on the food and service level, both were average, but the potential seemed there for better. The effort is there for the food and service, but not the preparation. If your servers are all right out of high school at least give them a descriptive list of your 12 or so draft beers, especially if you offer a lot of local brews that deserve the business. And if you're making dressings in-house with quality ingredients make sure you give them the appropriate vehicle to be fully appreciated. If the wings left me wishing I'd ordered a salad to better enjoy your gorgonzola...

Sad to say we had a poor experience with McGlynn's. Ordered take away and was told to pick up in 20 minutes. Arrived 20 minutes after order and waited another 20 minutes with no checking or follow-ups by staff. Took the food home and found out the Tuna Salad was not cooked to order and furthermore was not even properly sliced. The chicken wings were bland and tasteless. I decided to provide feedback and spoke to the manager Kelly. Although she apologized for the delay she didn't mention anything about the quality of the food and I wasn't impressed with her feedback and actions. So disappointed!

Hands down Dover favorite. Simple and delicious food accompanied by daily drink specials. Mahi tacos and steak sandwich au dip something were my favorites. A couple cute bartenders sprinkled around also helps.

We worked some late hours during our visit to Dover, and if it wasn't for our desire to explore everything Dover had to offer, we probably would have eaten at McGlynn's every night. It's odd just how much better the place was than most other places in the city. The beer selection was awesome, with a good selection of craft beers on tap (including one from Old Dominion specially made for McGlynn's) and even more bottles, and in my experiences the quality of the food is usually just as good as the beer selection. I must have had half of the appetizers, the quality ranging from good to Oh My God. The only entree I had the pleasure of eating was the roast pork sandwich that's popular in this part of the country - full of pork, rabe, garlic, and provolone, it was pretty great. I can't begin to describe how much fun it was to sit there with a good beer, good food, hanging out with friends, and dominating the Buzzmaker trivia. Probably one of the better restaurants in the city.

I'm local and come here for great food and occasional calm bar scene. Seared tuna, lobster mac and cheese, margarita pizza, burgers nachos all EXCELLENT! Small bar area ok to chat. Sometimes have a dj crammed in there but mostly not too loud to have a conversation.

This place used to be pretty good. The forst couple times the food was good and the service very good. The service is still OK, but the food was really sub par. I have been there 5 times in all, and the food just kept getting worse. The biggest problem (outside the food) was the NOISE! it was so loud I could not hear myself think, much less talk to my dinner companions. Happy hour is fine. Not my first choice anymore.

    (2)
  • Jonathan L.

McGlynn's is one of the nicer bars in Dover. They have a nice drink selection and decent specials. The food is pretty good as well, I just tried the Cuban sandwich last time and it was superb. This is a always one of the first places that my co-workers and I talk about when discussing happy hour. Check it out if you're in town. BONUS the building is right on Silver Lake, caveat to the bonus - the outdoor seating is facing the parking lot and not the water (I don't understand that one at all).

  • Collin S.

Compared to everything else in Dover, this place should get 7 stars. But as it is, it just serves as the best restaurant and bar in the area... which means it's nice, but not exactly a tourist destination either. The drink specials are quite good, and the food is always perfectly satisfactory. I'd even say the soft pretzel appetizer with the multiple dipping sauces is actually delicious. It's a slightly better version of standard bar food, and always served up with a smile and in a reasonable amount of time. Also a good place to watch a game, as there are plenty of TV's in the bar area to check out the Phils or Eagles. And I guess this might be the only place in the city that could be considered a bar where you could meet a member of the opposite sex if your target demographic would be 27 or older. Most of the others are full of DSU and Wesley students a large portion of the time. If you're in town, it's probably your best choice as a destination for dinner. But if you're just passing by heading north or south on Route 1... hold out for Rehoboth, Wilmington, or Philly.

Take advantage of their daily specials!!!! Food is a little above average but that's why you need to take advantage of the specials!! Monday - 1/2 priced appetizers. Tuesday - 1/2 priced burgers And so on....(I forget) Bar scene at night is a hit or miss.

This place would be a solid 4 stars for the food, the ambiance, and the view, if not for its cluster@#$% of a parking lot. I love the burgers and sandwiches, they have a good selection of beers (I'm not a drinker, but the Mr is), and he service is usually prompt and efficient. But my God, did I mention the parking lot? To say that it's a miserable experience for a large vehicle (Chevy Silverado) would be the understatement of the century. If it's even half full, it's barely possible to drive through there, let alone actually park.

Average pub....menu had a large selection and sounded really good, but came out average. Drink specials were nice, but were out of some selections.

In any other town, I'd probably give a lower score- but for Dover this pub gets 4 stars- no question about it. Points for a fun atmosphere, great prices for drinks and satisfactory nibbles. Though not exactly a great place for health food, the salads are nice especially for a pub. If you're looking for pub food and a pint- this is your spot. I've been there on weeknights and weekends alike and it's always busy- yet we've never had to wait for service. My only semi-gripe is that the location is in a great spot by the lake- yet the outdoor seating area is a patio overlooking the parking lot....whah?! What gives McGlynns? Can't we get an outdoor seat with a view? Clearly, it hasn't bugged me enough to keep me away- we've been to McGlynns more than any other spot in Dover since we moved here.

Went for lunch and ordered the 1/2 lb burger and chicken pesto sandwich. Burgers were 1/2 price on Tuesday. Food arrived barely warm. The burger tasted almost rubbery, cooked to medium as requested, but texture was just weird. Very skimpy piece of chicken on the sandwich. Our waitress was accommodating, replacing our cool sides for fresher, hotter ones. Nice water view did not make up for problems in the kitchen. So few choices in Dover, we were hoping for more....

I went on a Monday and they had half price appetizers so I only ate that and did not get a chance to try their sandwiches or entrees. I had the BBQ flatbread and it was tasty. I also had the pretzels with clam dip and found them quite soft and enjoyable. I was a little disappointed that they no longer had the warm chocolate bundt cake as it sounded it. (It is still on their on-line menu)

One of the best places to eat! The food is very good, from their specials to their burger's.The drinks are good, the atmosphere is very nice and the staff is friendly and attentive. I LOVE TO GO TO McGLYNN'S when in Dover =)

Started with false promises and long waits, ended with kick ass wings (some to go) and a free beer. Minus the first part would've been a five.

I love going to McGlynn's Pub & Restaurant! It is one of the first restaurants that I went to when I first moved to Dover, DE and the food is great and complimentary popcorn is a major plus! I'm originally NY and great food is easy to find unlike in Dover, so McGlynn's gets a 5star from me for sure!

We chose to go to McGlynn's because of all of the positive reviews. I have to say that I was disappointed. The Buffalo Wings were juicy but lacked flavor or zing. This did not satisfy my desire for wings however they were not horrible. The house salad was nice but the balsamic vinaigrette was more oil than vinegar. The kicker was that they forgot to submit my entree (the basic burger) and after about 45 minutes asked if they should place the order with the kitchen. Too late but I ordered a bowl of clam chowder. It was tasty but came out only luke warm with some cold spots. This may be the best in Dover however I wouldn't stop searching.

A beautiful eatery on the lake with a down to earth atmosphere. We sat on the front patio so we could bring our little dog. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Food was excellent...I've never had a crab-stuffed soft pretzel before...totally satisfying!! The beer selection was quite good (including local varieties) and was served nice and cold. My new favorite place in Dover.

The atmosphere is nice. They seated us very quickly each night we were there. Our waitress was friendly. However, she was less than very attentive. Took forever to receive our drinks and any refills. I am not sure if it was the waitress or the bartender, but that just signals a staffing problem. The Stuffed Burger was outstanding the 1st night we went. It was cooked perfectly, rare and juicy. The 2nd night however, I ordered the Fried Oyster Po Boy. I received a LARGE roll with 4 fried oysters, 2 tomato slices, a big leaf of lettuce and a smattering of spicy mayo. hardly any taste of the featured ingredient. Another member of our party ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad. She got 1 chicken tender slightly shredded. After a complaint, she received a 2nd small tender slightly shredded. By that time, she had lost all craving for the meal and didn't even bother with the "doggy bag". The saving grace for this night was the reduced price on "imported" or "craft" beers. The 3rd night was Prime Rib night. The portion was fine, however, I ordered "rare" and got medium. The meat all though over done was still tasty enough to eat. I rarely send things back, I've seen too many "restaurant nightmare" shows. Why 3 times to the same place you ask? I was out voted by the group on the choice of venue. I would suggest going to McGlynn's for the drink and MAYBE an appetizer.

We went for lunch and it was great.. The Turkey Dijon on a Pretzel roll was amazing. The French Onion Dip is better on baguette than ciabatta. The place was busy yet we were able to get seated right away. The parking is very constrained and as we were leaving, the Fire Marshall was giving a ticket to someone who parked in a fire lane. They definitely could get valet to work.

Anything on the pretzel roll here is pretty fantastic, as Mark mentioned. In addition this is not a bad place to go and just have a pint after dinner. Great view, good beers on tap and lots of wood accented, quiet surroundings. ***Note: I went here with Mark and his family. Both waitresses we had took very good care of the kids in our party: coloring books, free popcorn, jokes...

Great ambiance. This is the site of the old Blue Coat Inn, much lamented venue for many Dover meetings. The building is spectacular--on a relatively small plot on Silver Lake, the architect fit in an office building with a restaurant including open air eating on the ground floor. Why is the open air eating area facing a parking lot and not the lake? Residents of the lake on the other side did not want to hear or see restaurant activity from their side of the lake. The inside is pretty--done in a sort of turn of the 1900's style, and the main room faces the lake so has a pretty view. Many booths, tables, rooms for parties. A convenient place for business meals. The food--well, it's hit or miss. I've had great things, and stuff I wouldn't serve to my dog. If I had a dog, which I don't. (My cat will eat anything, so he doesn't count for reviews. He is not a critic.) The good things I've had there--burgers and the sashimi salad is a great deal, salad topped with seared sushi-grade tuna crusted in sesame. Ask for the dressing on the side or your greens will be drenched in too-strong balsamic dressing. The fish and chips is also good. This is also a bar, and there are the usual televisions all around, but they are not so obtrusive. Personally, I consider a tv in a restaurant the mark of mediocre dining. I'm there to eat and socialize, not watch the Sixers or the Eagles or the Phillies. But if it's a BAR, it's ok, I guess. Considering Dover is still dodgy for eating out at the best of times, McGlynns is a great place to meet if you stick to the things they make well. A few visits and you will figure out the short list. *Update* I now have a dog. She loves what I cook for her but is only so-so about McGlynns. I'd say, great place to drink...otherwise, eat elsewhere.

Came in off the road on a friday night at 8 pm. Fair service(table needed silver) and nice decor (paneled,English pub-like). Entree was London broil. Poorly prepared; doused in red wine, overcooked, tough. Will not recommend.

Great food and atmosphere, too bad we are just visiting. We all had sandwiches all three of us thoroughly enjoyed our food. Between chips and fries, opt for the chips. Headed back this evening for dinner, hoping for the same,

Excellent burgers and on Tuesdays they see 1/2 off. Personally I think their best one is the gourmet kobe burger. It is 1/2 lb of Kobe beef topped with sautéed onions, portabella mushrooms & Bernaise sauce. Yum!

Seriously good food. Huge portions. Very nice prices! The decor is lovely. Definately child friendly. Specials every night of the week (AYCE wing Wednesdays and shrimp Thursdays $6 beef & beer Sundays). Parking sucks. A lot. Two dining rooms plus a bar for seating. We've been the most impressed by this resto so far in Dover. Hubs had the grilled rueben and it was delishiously messy. Plus it arrived with homemade chips. Thick cut and crispy. Soooooo good! I had the baked rosemary lemon chicken and it was beyond yummy. Baked chicken shouldn't be allowed to taste that good. My daughter had the kids cheeseburger and fries. I think her patties alone might have weighed 1/2 lb. The buns were also delish and not standard mass produced, filled with preservatives, white bread. Service was ok. Although not stellar.

Meh. Pub burger was alright, nice sized chicken Caesar salad. Crab and artichoke dip was awesome!

McGlynn's sits on Silver Lake in Dover, DE. It's a new restaurant at the site, and has a great view. The bar area is pretty standard but has a good happy hour with fairly standard beers. The restaurant, as is most of the establishment, is full of dark wood and has a good ambience. The food is above average, although the corn bread is consistently too dry. There is outdoor seating , but due to neighbors votes, it faces the parking lot instead of the lake. The only real problem is lack of parking. Otherwise, this is a decent restaurant and hang out place.

Great restaurant if you're looking for a casual atmosphere with pub type food. As an out of town guest and receiving this recommendation from the hotel, I was pleasantly surprised. I'd recommend for a casual and simple dining experience.

Very cool looking pub. The food is pretty average. Had a stuffed burger and it was overcooked and had verynlittle flavor. Great place to watch a game.

My wife and have been here twice. Once on a weekend and once on a weekday. The building is fairly new so the bar is in excellent shape. The first time we went (the weekend) we were there early so there wasn't much going on. One thing we noticed fast was that we had a hard time getting the bartender's attention for service. It seemed that he was more interested in serving the young twenty-something girls at the r end of the bar even though we had been waiting much longer. This was our experience throughout the night. The second time we were there (the weekday) we figured we would give them another chance and try a dinner there. It wasn't much different. The waitress was very slow to take our order and didn't see her again throughout our meal. It was very evident that she didn't want to be there. As we were leaving she and another waitress were standing in the lobby area bitching about the bartender, other waitstaff, and the fact that business sucks. Well, with the attitudes we witnessed I can see why it sucks. I'd say that if you are young and pretty you will probably not experience poor service. But if you are about 37 or above you will definitely get treated differently. The bar is very nice, though.

We stopped stumbles upon McGlynn's on the way home from the beach. The food was excellent and the atmosphere and service was very friendly. I recommend the French onion steak sandwich. We will definitely make this one of our top spots when we pass through town again.
