Been here twice for food and once for drinks. Drink service was slow, but then we probably should have just sat inside for a/c anyway. Food portions for dinner entrees are smaller than the American average, but still reasonably priced for this kind of venue. The entrees didn't blow me away on taste either, but there are more selections I want to try. Salads are a bit boring, but then, they are anyway, right? Soups are duller than boring, so avoid. The baked goods in the cafe are an interesting selection - most baked in house, except for the cheesecake which comes in from Cheesecake Factory (weird) and the macarons which are ordered, shipped in, and often sold out by the end of the day. The salted caramel macaron is the best option, if you ask me. Overall, this is a cute little spot to come on the weekend, or early evening after work for a bite or a drink. The atmosphere is the best part, and derives from the historic building and the beautifully manicured garden and nearby green spaces. Decent option for a light meal in "historic downtown" Dover.

Governor's Cafe is a great place to grab a bite to eat and get some work done in a quite place with a great atmosphere. Not the best place to come with other people if you plan to get a table. I've stopped in and grabbed a pastry for breakfast or a sandwich for lunch to go and they've always been fresh and tasty. I love the feel of the big old house in historic Dover. There are plenty of places to sit on the main floor or upstairs if you're just working by yourself or you're there with a friend. As a sit down restaurant they leave something to be desired. There are only a handful of tables and they are crammed into a square room in between the lounge and the counter area. I've been twice with a group of 5 and we are glad we made a reservation for lunch time because otherwise there was no way we'd get a table. Because of the boxed in area, it can get very loud with just a few tables full. The wait staff is made up of people who work the counter too so service isn't the best but it's never been awful. My rating comes from the true nature that this place is, not what some might want it to be. It's a coffee house with great food, not a sit down restaurant.

Cute place. I have been here before for breakfast and could not wait to try their lunch menu ! I asked if the pesto chicken panini had pine nuts in the pesto (nut allergy = but sometimes pesto does not have pine nuts) our waitress said she didn't know and didn't offer to try and find out so I ordered the turkey panini to be on the safe side. My fiancé ordered the pesto chicken sandwich and when we did receive our sandwiches ( our food came out fast which was good) the pesto did not have nuts. The paninis were good :) My fiancé said he felt the chicken was a little dry. Potato salad was nothing special but decent. Overall a good experience. Would come back again and try something else !

This rustic historical cafe/bar/restaurant has a very relaxing atmosphere and makes you feel at ease as if you were at home but in a restaurant at the same time. I came here for brunch with a friend and had a crab cake with potato salad. The portions are not big but the flavor of the dish makes up for the portion size. For the price, portion size, taste, relaxing ambiance, and value, this place is a clear winner. I would like to give it 5 stars but there is something missing, that "coup de gras" that gives it a perfect execution all around.

I was visiting from New Jersey found this place on yelp what a pleasant experience beautiful building staff extremely friendly. Food was wonderful had the meatloaf sliders and grill chicken Panini with pesto

Pros: very cool location, the porch was great, hummus sandwich so good, fruit salad with chicken was fresh and delish! Macaroons so yum! Cons: service was slow and lacking enthusiasm initially. Took 30 min for our server to greet us (after we wandered inside not knowing what to do because no host). After that she warmed up and was great though. Other con was that smoking is allowed on the porch, kind of ruins the otherwise amazing outdoor seating. 4 stars still because food was fresh and delicious!

I was so excited to try out this place since it is hart to find a nice place to meet friends for a coffee. It looked very nice and cozy so I was even more disappointed about how dirty this place was... We seated our selfs outside on the patio after we went inside to get our drinks. You have to carry whatever you order back to your table yourself, which is no big deal. The tables were sticky and felt like they needed a good wipe down. When I was about to poor my hot water for my tea into my cup, I realized how dirty the cup was! I was able to scrape off the dirt with my nails! It was sticky and smelled gross! Usually in this situation I would let them know about it and just get a new cup, but when my friends cup (she had ordered coffee) look just like it, we just got up and left. The staff was mediocre. I would not recommend this place....

This is one of my favorite places in Dover. Their food is always fresh and delicious. My absolute favorite meal is the espresso beer braised short ribs, they are so tender and the sauce compliments them so perfectly. I always save room for the macarons! Governor's is so great because it's a restaurant and bar downtown, but one of the things I really dislike about the bars downtown is the crowd of people. This place is so nice because it's really laid back, it's not a rowdy scene, and there are tables outside to enjoy the nice weather.

We were passing through on vacation and stopped for lunch. This place is great from the grounds around the building, the porch, to the bar, the sitting room and the main dining area. It's manicured lawns and bushes/shrubs, the woods and pictures of historic figures (governors). It doesn't feel the least bit stuffy or exclusive just the opposite! Friendly, welcoming (almost "local coffee shop" feel) this place really is just great. They had electrical outlets along one of the walls that had single row high top seating - nicely done. The staff was friendly and very efficient even when slammed I might add (and I was making allowances for it being just packed - and never needed any!) = the staff and kitchen crushed it. The menu is

Very cool find. It is the old governor's mansion and sits in the older part of town. The owner (who is very nice) has done a great job of maintaining the charm including the original lead windows. Perfect place to sit out on the porch, have a good meal and relax.

Beautiful setting inside and out. Sandwiches are tasty but dessert is my favorite part. Hot cookies or macaroons! Lots of flavors. Super friendly staff as well.

We stopped in for lunch today. What a great atmosphere here! Service was good, prices were reasonable, menu selection was good, portion size was good, but we both ordered paninis and they were served a bit on the burned side. That killed any flavor, unfortunately. The other sandwiches that were served to others looked tasty so we'd try those next time. We were treated right and we liked this place so we will come back again and try something else or at least come back for cocktails or coffee. We will support this business by giving them another chance.

The place is beautiful! a quaint old bed & breakfast type building with both indoor and outdoor seating. But aside from atmosphere it was the not the experience I had hopes high hoped for at all. Well...after waiting a bit for a server she finally came to bring menus, at which point we immediately ordered 2 coffees and 2 OJs. After another 10 mins the waitress returned with watered down coffee and a small bottle of Tropicana orange juice from concentrate. After seeing the quality of the beverages, I decided to order the most basic thing possible, my thinking is how could a bagel be bad right? Well she delivered a gummy mess of a bagel with packaged cream cheese. If I closed my eyes I would have sworn I was on an airplane...YUK! My husband aired even more on the safe side and ordered a mystery smoothie. I say mystery because the menu says to ask the server for the flavors and her response was "ummmm, well I'm not sure, what flavors do you like?" to which he responded "well I really like mangoes, but could you check please?" She walked away without coming back with choices and instead decided for him and just brought the mango smoothie. After one bite of the bagel and 15 mins of sitting I went in search of the waitress to pay the bill and go. Needless to say I left hungry and baffled by the entire situation. Sometimes I come across these places that just blow my mind with what a mis-opportunity they are...I say this because the area is lacking in the number of breakfast places, it is in a nice area, and the building is beautiful but they confidently served concentrated orange juice, gross bagels, and packaged cream cheese. It doesn't take much to provide a bit of quality, in fact if they knew anything about costs, they would know that individual packaged items cost more then buying in bulk and serving in a nice dish. I just don't get it, it's all crazy to me. If you have a chance to go to another place, do it! Or perhaps you could hold off for a while and make the drive to a more desirable location.

Something for everyone. Drink? Coffee ? Pastry? Dinner? This is your place. Big enough to accommodate three distinctive spaces not to mention the porch that we didn't get to enjoy in the middle if winter. Food was tasty. Two in the party had panini's (prime rib and chicken) Both offered favorable reviews. The tuna sandwich was delightful with tuna cooked to perfection. We'd definitely be back, and recommend you'd give them a try.

First time at Governor's Cafe. The hostess helped me pick out some amazing macaroons and a great coffee! I really enjoyed my breakfast sandwich as well. Definitely going to go back and bring friends!

Love this place! It is the only place in Dover where they have a clue about great coffee. Service can be a little slow but it's not fast food so it's fine.

  • Cindy R.

Been to dinner here several times already. Love both the food & atmosphere. Really enjoyed eating out on the porch with a glass of wine in the early evening. My favorite menu items were the tomato soup, meatloaf sliders, crab cakes & short rib dinner with mashed potato. Will be back.

  • Michelle L.

I must disagree with the other reviewers. Poor service, incorrect order. Sandwich bread was burned. Potato salad had no flavor. Beverages were not refilled. Inattentive waitress or not enough servers, or both, I'm not sure. Food was sub-par. Owner made excuses when we talked to him. Lots of flies outdoors on the food, need insect control. It's a nice location overall and unique historic home. Lunch on the front porch. Bathroom was clean.

One of the best places to hang out in Dover! Great coffee, soup, and desserts. The service is attentive, but not intrusive, even when they're busy. This is my go-to place to study.

Lunch was fabulous! Great spot in Dover, very clean and quaint. Excellent lunch menu and iced latte was on point. Not to mention we ended lunch with locally made macaroons-sooo yummy! We were greeted in a timely manner and food was cooked and delivered very quickly-just took a little long for the bill. Will definitely return often!

On the porch is wonderful . that's why it gets two stars . we waited for probably 20 minutes for a waitress and then another 20 minutes to get our 3 sandwiches . my grilled cheese was cold. it has potential of being a wonderful place. They just need more servers

I like this place. It's great for happy hour. The service is good, and the food and drinks are good too. I wish they had a served breakfast though. Instead, it's a counter line with sandwiches and baked goods.

Not extraordinary, but a good lunch. The hummus sandwich was good and something to try again.

So, my wife's group of friends,15 to 20 women go into Governors twice a week around 10 am for coffee and breakfast, one occasion they were asked to finish up their eating because they needed the tables, another time they all sat outside and was told not to move the tables around, and last week they were there all, brought coffee and something to eat ,and one woman brought home made cake to celebrate a birthday. Well they were told that the cake was not allowed and that they are not welcome there anymore next time it happens. I guess 15 women spending five to eight dollars twice a week is bad for business!

As my first place to experience Dover, DE, food and drink wise, I wasn't let down. Great place to sit and just relax with a hot latte and some macaroons, absolutely delicious.(almond wedding macaroon is my fav) Also enjoyed the service, very nice people. I've gone back since then and have enjoyed it every time.

Delicious meal, it was blistering hot outside though, a fan on the patio would have been amazing! But it was good food, the service was bad however. Didn't see the waitress except to bring us drinks and food. Service: bad Food: excellent Atmosphere: beautiful

  • Nunca A.

It is not easily accessible and the menu lacks variety. I was expecting a REAL breakfast for such a fancy atmosphere. No pancakes but cold sandwiches. The "chef" was sitting at the side of the place without a distinct uniform and speaking with a waitress. No real parking and a bunch of salads on the menu. While I enjoyed the grilled cheese and tomato soup it did not feel like I was in a real cafe. I like the little cove where people can read and do business work. It might be enjoyable for a quiet book club or a business meeting when the weather is nice but I was not impressed.

delicious food!!! really yummy and plenty of healthy options. as someone visiting from LA it's always nice to find a quick and easy place for a sandwich and great coffee!! definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone :)

  • Marc K.

Great atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed business lunch. Used to be a lunch counter where you ordered your food and cleared your own dishes. Now they are transitioning to a real restaurant atmosphere with servers. Prices are reasonable. I had the turkey panini and it was a little better than average, what you would expect for a panini. It was boiling lava hot which is preferable to it being cold. Who needs a few layers of extra tongue skin anyway?

  • Toby D.

Came for lunch - slow service, told to get a seat (we sat at the outdoor area) and after five minutes we went and got our own menus. Group of 9 people, food was not brought all at once, which was okay, two panneni were very burned, 2 others burned but still edible. We sent back the worst, took about 25 minutes to get replacements. Waitress did not come to refill drinks until end of meal about 45 minutes after we had been there. Folks said the potato salad was bland and needed seasoning. Overall no one in our group thought the restaurant was better than average and some disliked their items, very disappointing as we were looking forward to visiting here for first Saturday and was also recommended by the docents on the tour across the street. We had also tried to come for dinner the previous evening on first friday and the host said too crowded to handle our group as not enough servers. The number of servers for lunch was also very sparse. Lower your expectations. I had the Caprese salad, which was good, attaching picture. The waitress took off on the price for the people that had burned sandwiches.

We stopped in for lunch with friends and were pleasantly surprised. The building is very elegant, which scared us at first, but a quick look at the menu proved that prices were not as elegant as the setting. We shared the smoked salmon appetizer which was excellent. Most of us got soup and salad. The Tomato Basil soup has a little spice to it, but it's super yummy. The crab pretzel was very good too. Megan, our waitress, was very nice. Service was prompt and ambiance was pleasant. Overall a great find!

It's a cute..quaint little hidden gem in Dover. The cafe' is kind of over priced though and the customer service isn't that good. It's the best thing to Starbucks that you'll get in Dover, including free wifi.

  • Tara W.

Love the atmosphere and the chocolate croissants! My latte wasn't the worst I've had, but it tastes like the coffee beans were old. If they had coffee that tasted freshly roasted, this would certainly be my regular coffee place! As a barista and coffee roaster, my coffee standards are a bit higher than most. The staff was friendly and pleasant, and I intend to return again!

  • Leah K.

Just went in with my full loyalty card to get my free cup of coffee, and they have abruptly stopped honoring them. I hope the $4 that saved them was worth losing a longtime semi-regular customer. Never again. The good news is that I was so pissed off, I didn't even need a cup of coffee to keep me awake anymore.

Service - good Ambiance - impressive (it was the Governor's house) Food - good Chocolate crossaint and scone with coffee. yay it was good.

  • Steve L.

Great front porch to sit on when the weather is good. Atmosphere is cozy inside. Unsure if they want to be a coffeeshop, restaurant or a bar. I'm not a fan of their coffee but have had good lunches here. Wifi is sketchy at best. The last three times I've been here it wasn't working.

I come here when I visit my boyfriend at the Dover Air Force Base. The buckeye cake is to die for! Overall the atmosphere is very unique and I love the historical building it's in!

  • Darryl J.

The new bar has great service and above average food. The hours aren't the best - they close 10pm week nights and 11pm Friday and Saturday nights, but the wine by the bottle is unbeatable value if you like wine, and the food is a notch above. The coffee shop is even better. 5 stars for the sandwiches and coffees and 5 stars for the sweets and service

This has become our go to place for coffee time.. The Spanish latte is delish.. The macaroons are just perfect little bites.. The staff is pleasant and the owner is friendly and cares about the opinions of his guests.. I highly recommend stopping in for coffee time or anytime really.. you won't be disappointed. .

The location, building and ambiance is really wonderful at Governor's Cafe. The food was fine, but not the main draw for me (though sitting on the porch in spring and summer is a great time). For Dover, this is a nice place. What impacts my rating of this establishment was the behavior of some of the employees; while eating on the porch, three employees came outside, stood about five feet from us, and started smoking. They could have easily stood twenty feet from any patrons on the other side of the porch, but did not. Even worse, when they finished smoking, one of them tossed their butt on the rug in which they were standing, and ground it out. Ick.

If you like tuna... you simply cannot pass this place up!:) We were driving back home to VA, from NJ, when we did a search in DE for a place to stop. I actually found this place here on Yelp and, as fans of history and historic structures, we couldn't pass up the chance to see it. I had the 1/2 sandwich, 1/2 salad... (I'm still disappointed that I didn't order the tuna, as I would normally never pass that up!)... and my husband ordered the tuna dinner selection. (It was very close to time for the dinner menu, so they allowed him to order it.) Well, mine was wonderful... and I would be raving about IT, if my husband had not been so generous as to allow me to have 1/3 of his tuna. (We ended up splitting our meals.) OMGEEEEEEE!!!!! Now, to say that I am a tuna connoisseur might be an understatement... (I pretty much live on tuna). And, up until now, my favorite had been at a place in San Francisco called Scoma's. (I order it plain there, w/o the sauce, and the pure perfection of it makes me just about cry every time.):) And, to be fair, I guess it's hard to compare these two... as the one here at the Governor's Cafe is blackened. (I'm from close to New Orleans, originally... so I KNOW blackened!);) And, I have to say... we never had plans to come back to Delaware... until now! "Scrumptious" doesn't even BEGIN to describe this dish! Words literally fail. If you saw "Ratatouille", by any chance... and remember the scene where Anton Ego first tastes Remy's ratatouille dish... then you'll know what my experience was like when biting into this tuna. I was, quite literally, transported to another place and time. I will dream of this tuna for years to come. Anyway, you get the picture.;) I should also mention that the asparagus was to die for... the cornbread was mouth-watering, and the atmosphere/decor was so unbelievably special! (Even the restroom is super cool.) It has brick walls, but they've installed old, latching doors (I think they were doors), along 3 sides, (presumably to be able to attach the tp holder (which I totally wanted to snatch), hide the electrical wiring, etc... it's done to perfection, IMO.:) OH - and let's not forget the gorgeous, large porch... WOW! I've never known why one would visit Dover... (although I'm sure there are many reasons, just never took the time to research)... but this restaurant, and specifically the tuna, is all the reason I will ever need.:) One little note: if you are in a hurry, do not eat here. Although our waiter was super sweet, and very knowledgable about the building, the service is not "quick"... but, seriously, if you come here to eat... you won't want to hurry anyway! Just do what I did, and let the tuna sit on your tongue... just to soak up the flavors. And I hope you'll experience the same "heaven" that I did!:)

We found this gem using Yelp while passing through Dover. We really enjoyed our lunch on the porch. Broiled crab cake sandwich was yummy as was the reuben. Our kids thought the best thing of all was the huge, warm, gooey chocolate chip cookie. Delish. Really glad we found this place.. We had a great lunch!

  • Dave G.

Outstanding! wonderful atmosphere, great place, very welcome and comfortable yet trendy. we don't usually think of Dover as a place with good food but that is now changed...on our way back from the beach and it will become a regular stop. We stopped in for a late dinner and had sandwiches and crab pretzels on the porch. super-super fast service, wonderful food. can't wait to go back and try the bakery, café and bar.

  • Jon L.

Service was standard. Overall not a pricey place but I did think my portion was a tad small. Or maybe I'm fat. Standard options. Nothing our table of 6 ordered was particularly amazing but decent as we were just looking for a pit stop on our road trip. Turns out I mistakingly mistook it to be the top result on my yelp search but it was actually an advertised option. Bathroom was clean too. They sell little pastries in the cafe in the back. Also they have a seating area right when you walk in where a few people were hanging out or studying. The best part of the place is the pictures of government officials on the wall. There's one picture of a guy on a golf course. Totally out of place and totally ridiculous but earns the place extra stars! It's also not really the governors house. That is across the street. Ample street parking when I was here. Good bye Dover!

  • Ethan L.

Great staff, and amazing atmosphere. As you drive up, you can see tall hedges and architecture that hails from a bygone era. As you walk up to the porch, you get a feeling of home. Inside, though--inside is what really welcomes you home. As you walk in (in the winter, at least) there are beautiful hardwood floors and a roaring fireplace, all accompanied by beautiful bookshelves and lush couches. In addition to this, there's the Governor's dining room right next to the storefront area. This candlelit area provides a great dinner atmosphere. Not a drinker, so can't speak for the bar, but the rest of the place is wonderful. Don't miss this while you're in DE!

Stopped in from out of state for breakfast. Unique setting that is authentically aristocratic. Recommend the Spanish Latte with sweetened condensed milk and half and half! Breakfast bagel sandwiches were big enough for a real dudes appetite... None of the skinny-jean-wearing herbivore nancy boy sammies that you get at Panera or Starbucks. Make it you #1 stop!

This is a very good spot to grab lunch on the weekend when time frame is flexible. Really good servers but super slow. But it's a nice atmosphere to hang out anyway. Need more staff. The food has never disappointed, always good. Pick any panini and you'll be happy!

Ray and the crew provide excellent service! I feel like family whenever I come here. It's the perfect place to get some work done in the lounge or kick back with friends and beers on the patio. Definitely the best place in Dover to hang out, and the food is awesome too!

Well.... Very cool atmosphere, friendly staff. Food, well, we each ate just half of our sandwiches. They just weren't that good. Potato salad side was tasty but not healthy. Probably didn't help one of was given the wrong order. Excellent coffee. We'd go back but not order food

This is a very nice coffee spot. They have wi-fi without a time restriction (like "the other" coffee shop in town) The atmosphere is great and inviting, and they have plenty of places to plug in your laptop. I was attempting to cut down on caffeine and was ordering "half caff's" for a while but their decaf grinder was broken. I asked when it was getting fixed and they didn't know, so I asked if I could ask the owner. They gave me his email address and for the heck of it I sent him a note. UNBELIEVABLY he emailed me back, even that same day. (If you have done any kind of business here in Dover, you know what an absolutely strange, and obviously noteworthy, occurrence this is.) They also make their drinks at least twice as fast as any other coffee place around, which isn't blazingly fast like you'd get in a big city where there's a line out the door in the morning for coffee... but for Dover, they are the champions! I hope they are able to stay in business, and get their beer/wine license, because it's a nice spot.

This place is freakin' amazing, especially if you happen to stop by with a squirmy baby in tow. This cafe is sort of sprawled out luxuriously in an old mansion with its own lovely walkway garden and entrance, and once you step in through a wraparound porch, you're a bit confused because there's a sunny foyer, a legitimate living room with cozy chairs and sofas, and a grand staircase leading your eye upward...but then, steps to your left is a bustling little cafe, its walls lined with all of Delaware's past governors (hence the name!). Pass another door to the left and there's a bar. So it's kind of like having a historical home tour, getting a lovely meal, and then hanging out in a really luxurious, comfortable living room in someone's mansion. My husband and I not only enjoyed our meal and coffee, but our son got to squirm an crawl and pull up to furniture to his heart's content, which made the rest of our road trip a pleasure - a well exercised baby is a happy baby who does not scream in a car seat!! HIGHLY recommended whether you're just passing through Dover, or a local.

We stopped in for breakfast. The building is gorgeous, the atmosphere warm and inviting, and the breakfast sandwiches were delicious. Every staff member was extremely positive and friendly. While there, I had a chance to talk to the owner about his cafe and about Dover. He gave me the fascinating history of the building and his decision to open a business there. Extremely nice man, and he's created a unique Dover business. I am anxious to have a few cocktails in the very cool bar next time I am in town. Great place!

I love this place! Came to Dover for a few weeks from CA (where good coffee shops and cafes are on almost every street corner) and was a little discouraged by the lack of coffee shops; particularly since this is a college town and has an Air Force Base. So this morning I decided to give this place a try and it was fantastic. I only got a large cup of coffee and a pastry, but both were good. The sandwiches looked delicious and there was a lot to choose from. The two young ladies working the counter were very friendly and attentive. They take credit/debit on small transactions without a fee and complimentary wi-fi. The ambiance is great, like an old Victorian home. There was one or two TVs on the was and a radio playing, but neither were intrusive. Lots of seating available, from tables and chairs (both indoor and out) to large comfortable sofas (each with convenient end tables; which is good cause my coffee cup was huge!). I'll definitely be back here many times during my stay in Dover, DE.

Great place!! Very cozy and quiet. Lots of space inside as well as outside. Delicious homemade gelato, sandwiches and coffee. Sitting on a porch on a nice summer day was so soothing. (Starting from 07/16/12 it will close at 4 p.m.)

Nice addition to the dining landscape in Dover. Food and setting really nice. Friendly staff. Plan for return visits in the future.

Went for the first time on Sunday . It has a great location and the building is beautiful ! We were going to order an appetizer (the crab pretzels) but we were told they were not selling any appetizers. Not a big deal at all, I just ordered a Reuben (which was very good!) and my boyfriend ordered a turkey club . The food came out in a reasonable time. While we waited we chatted with the bartender who was great ! The only negative thing I will say is that about 30-45 mins after telling us they will not be serving any of the appetizers a man walked in and wanted the crab pretzels and the bartender worked some magic for him and he got them . We will be back but we hope next time we can be able to order anything !

This place has character as well as plenty of comfortable places to sit. The décor is welcoming and the staff attentive and friendly, and most importantly, the Governor's Café has a nice selection of hot beverages and a menu that should keep you smiling. This morning, on my maiden visit, I tried a breakfast sandwich.... ham and egg topped with Gouda cheese on whole wheat, and it was perfect! This was no dry little muffin or croissant with faux cheese and egg-product, this was a hefty masterpiece grilled to perfection and designed to seduce your senses and fulfill your breakfast yearnings. A perfect breakfast sandwich and a coffee for about $5, and if that doesn't make you want to slap Ronald McD. across his bulbous nose, I can't image what will. The Governor's Café is a welcome addition to Dover, and you should try it.

The food here is very good! I'm a creature of habit so I always order the grilled cheese but it is soo delicious!! And the history of it is very cool as well as the scenery, it is located across from DE governors mansion.

Great little coffee shop. Free parking outside. A nice little section of Dover. Has Wi-Fi. Has a food menu as well. Staff very polite and friendly. Fireplace and comfy seating and a strip of power for laptop users.

Absolutely adorable, cozy and welcoming, Governor's Cafe is located in the former Governor's mansion. Their coffee and breakfast sandwiches were ideal start of the day. And spending 30 minutes outside on the porch while quietly enjoying the peace around in the rocking chair was an amazing experience in its own.

This is a great cafe in a great location. Dover always lacked a good cafe and this place is a perfect fit that fits the area. They have fantastic espresso and the sandwichs are fresh and delicious. The salads are fresh but they serve prepackaged dressing with them which is a minus. I recommend this cafe to everyone.

Absolutely adorable cafe with great sandwiches, a beautiful open porch for nice days, a cozy fireplace room for cold ones, and tantalizing gelato and baked goods, and a full coffee bar. Would absolutely be a regular if I lived in Dover!
