Frankie's is AWESOME! Our party of four was so suprised that our bill was under $50 and we were all happy and full. We ordered the calamari appetizer. I figured fried calamari is going to tell you right off if you're in the right place. It was perfectly fried and had just the right bite to it. We all loved it. We also ordered a pizza and it was very good. Thin crust, good sauce - we all left happy. Also, kudos to Frankie's for having THE BEST Bloody Mary Bar I've ever been to at a NASCAR race. It was amazing and we will be reminiscing about it for many races to come. The girls were awesome and very generous with the Ketel One. Thanks girls for taking care of us that weekend! You rocked!!

Well what can I say the best thing about Frankie's was the cute X-mas Tree! The service was sooo bad I can't believe it! We have been there many times and Food &Service was always decent! But this past Fri. Dec. 12th it was a JOKE! At 6:00 they have waitress meeting! The manager was even Rude! The pizza was burnt and you couldn't fine a server anywhere! It was very disappointing! We always go there when we come to Dover and we stay at the Casino! Casino was great FRANKIES was the worst ever' won't be back! Garden Cafe was so much better! We went there Sat. Nite! They were wayyyy busy and we got excellent service and Food was top notch! Oh just to say the Hostess at FRANKIES was really sweet she did apologize and she was sweet! But it's not her job to deal with food And Drinks and Service! What a shame that place could be so nice but that manager needs to learn how to deal with customer service otherwise that place won't be around much longer! The server gives us ten percent off the bill! Woo!!! Really! We should of walked out! I am a really good tipper I still gave her $3.00 she was Lucky! But little does she knows she would of gotten a huge tip because I used to do her kind of work and I have a lot of respect for waitress and waiters! I gave 2 Stars only for the X-Mas Tree which I will post! Bye Bye FRANKIES! I will be back to Dover but I will go where I can enjoy Good Food And Excellent Service!! And while I visit the casino and want Food from Italy I will go out of the Casino! Grottos I heard was Top Notch!

2.5 stars. -Frankie's is not a real Italian restaurant. -Service was s l o w and not so great. -The pizza was decent, though they put olives on mine when I specifically asked for NO OLIVES. -We sat at the bar since it was "crowded". -Our bartender was nice. -We were able to take our leftover pizza back up to the hotel room which made for a great late night snack, hence the extra 1/2 star from me. There are other restaurants in the hotel and outside of the hotel with better and faster service. Won't be back yo.

Frankie's is outstanding. Our first stop for a couple days at the Downs is to Frankie's. Every meal there has been exceptional, and we've had many.

So we went to a nascar race and decided to try some brick oven pizza at Frankie's. I was there with my father and we both ordered our own pizzas. When the pizza came out my fathers seemed to be ok but the one I had was so ridiculously under cooked. It was so doughy I couldn't pick up a slice. I called the waiter over to show him that it was not edible. So they took it back and had to start one from scratch. It was taking forever and by the time it came out my father was done eating and I told the waiter I wanted it to go. He went and got the manager and they did take it off the bill. The manager told me the reason it was taking so long is there was thirty pizzas ahead of mine, so I guess when they make a mistake they don't put your ticket at the top of the list. Pretty ridiculous thing to say to a customer. So when I ate the pizza later I was so disappointed. It was done on the crust on the end but the rest of the pie was so undercooked again. It was horrible. It tasted like I was eating raw dough. Also there was no flavor at all. Very bland. This restaurant is next door to a great seafood place which I have eaten at and is great. I will never come back to Frankie's. So disappointed...

Went into Frankies on a Saturday night around 8 pm. They were dead! Our waiter came very quickly and greeted us along with taking our drink orders. I had to ask for a wine menu ( our server didn't know what kind they had) and it was brought out after everyone else got their drinks. Their bread was good, very thick soda bread. Coffee was also good tasting, maybe with desert would have been nice. The food came out in a good amount of time, but it has much to be desired. There were 4 of us and we all got different sauces and they all were FAR less par then Olive Garden. The entrees range in price from $10 to $30 ish,,,,and I'd rather go to Olive Garden. We didn't stay for desert never the less. I will not come back here, much better off going to one of their other restaurants in the hotel/ casino.

This meal was the definition of m'eh. I was with a group for work so we had a limited menu available to us. Service and food were both mediocre. Highlights - calamari, garlic bread nuggets in the bottom of the bread basket, meats on the cheese/meat platter. Lowlights - bruscetta and the entrees. I had the pesto chicken pasta, it was OK. Not terrible, but sort of a little oily. If you're looking to stay within the hotel it's not a terrible option, but keep your expectations low.

I came here on a Sunday evening about 1.5 hour from close time with a group of 10. Everything was wonderful upon ordering. Was informed that there was a drink special of $3 for various liquors. I ordered Frankie's Trio and it was similar bland. As well as calamari which was perfectly cooked. The best thing about this evening was the company and the ambiance. The music selection of frank Sinatra was soothing and relaxing. But the wait it took to get our food was atrocious. We waited an absurd amount of time to get our food, to the point of walking out. But stuck around as we were already here. I'd recommend it if you don't mind sitting at the bar as it seemed they were serviced a lot quicker than a large group. Overall, the experience was good.

I have been to Frankie's maybe a dozen times and the food is unfailingly good. My husband loves the Chairman of the Board pizza and Franke's Trio. I love the pasta carbonara and eggplant Parmesan. The sauce is especially good, not too sweet and I love the fact that the sauce doesn't get watery. It is nice and thick and sticks well to the pasta. So the food is great. The service is more iffy. Last visit was on Fathers Day evening, and service was a disaster. People complaining, the hostess ended up crying, waited 40 minutes to even get a beverage...just awful. Tonight was much better. Erica, our hostess was a delight. Katelyn, our server, was quick and efficient. And the food....YUM!

I used to work at Frankie's and can honestly say I've seen every item that they sell. In short: Pizza is cooked in a brick oven and is delish (ask for it crispy) The mussels in the red sauce are my favorite (ask for it spicy) Steak is surprisingly delicious If you they don't have a certain kind of wine, ask them to call Michelle's (the restaurant upstairs) Your experience often is determined by who serves you. There are some great servers and there are some horrible, trashy servers.

While Frankie's will never win any awards, the food is your typical Italian fare at decent prices. We've tried several restaurants within Dover Downs, and while none of them is top notch, this has been the best of them. The meal started with warm crusty bread and olive oil. We shared the caprese salad to start. The tomatoes were fairly bland, but there was a generous serving of mozzarella. For my main entree, I had the rigatoni ala forne - the bolognese sauce was okay, but the cheeses were warm and gooey and more than made up for it. We've had much better Italian elsewhere, but for the price and location, Frankie's was pretty decent.

Perhaps its lack of an entry here on Yelp is why I forgot to review Frankie's for nearly a year, but it was actually the better of the two restaurant experiences I had in the casino, with Doc McGuillicutty's House of Oysters being a little too expensive and inconsistent for the price. And perhaps it's a testament to the restaurant that I can even still remember what I ate... kinda. I remember I had the cured meat antipasto, and it was more than enough to sample among three or four people. The melt-in-your mouth cured meats would be hard to screw up in even the worst circumstances. The exact pasta I had, I'm not so sure. Looking at the menu, I think the me of 2011 would have chosen the bucatini alla Amatricana. I do recall holding no ill will to the place, which means the pasta was cooked well, and at $10 a plate, it's a much better bargain than its neighbor.

Bad Bad Bad. We came with a party of 10 and were seated quickly. That was the best part of the evening. The waitress took our drink orders and returned after a grueling 20 minutes. We placed our appetizer and entree orders immediately. The restaurant wasn't exceptionally busy, especially for a Friday night, so we expected swift service so we could get on with our evening. That wasn't the only gamble we lost that night. The appetizers arrived after about an hour. These weren't complicated items (bruschetta, caprese salad, and calamari) so I can only assume the kitchen staff grew the tomatoes themselves and wrangled the freshest squid from the sea. While we ate our appetizers, another member of our party arrived. He asked for a menu to place a quick entree order. The waitress commented that he could take his time because she hadn't put the entrees in yet. o_O It was another hour before our lack luster entrees arrived. I ordered chicken parm....simple enough. It arrived with a very small pasta side with a slightly chunky tomato juice sauce. The chicken breast was breaded with a mushy "crust". Another member of our party ordered a crab pasta dish. She spent most of her meal picking out pieces of shell. When it came to paying the bill, we were shocked by the restaurant's policy of only splitting 4 ways or using 4 credit cards at most. Fortunately most of us had cash so it was only a minor inconvenience, however, had this not been the case I'm not sure how this would've turned out. This was by far the worst fast-food Italian restaurant that I've even been to. The manager was walking around throughout the evening, stopping at a few tables during his rounds. He neglected to stop at our table, nor did he even glance over.

Service was slow eventhough there were very few people. Appetizers were good. I think we had the seafood sampler with mussels, clams and calamari. Entrees looked like it came out of the microwave and tasted like it. Atmosphere was nice eventhough it was in a casino. I probably would go again and give it a second chance.

The Meatballs came out ice cold in the center and The Alfredo sauce was terrible. The service was good and the manager did apologize for the cold Meatballs, but overall Frankie's is way overpriced for low quality Italian food.

After today, I won't be back. This Frankie's is in the Dover Downs Casino. By Delaware law, you must be 21 to gamble. We have eaten here MANY times, and mostly we sit at the bar because the table service is SLOW. This evening, we had dinner at the restaurant next door, but decided to use our freebies at Frankie's for desert. Yet again we went to the bar to order our desert TO GO. The bartender comes over and immediately gives us attitude on having ID to be at the bar. I explain we are just placing a to go order, not ordering alcohol. Can we have the menu? NO, you must show ID to sit at the bar. He starts digging for his. I do not have my license on me, I am not carrying my purse. I am in a casino and all I need is my casino player card, which I have to be 21 to get. I explain, I have my player card, and I just want to order desert to go. She was the biggest bitch I have ever met. She refused to let us place a to go order, even though he had ID, we would have to sit at a table or I would have to leave. Nothing I said about being obviously over 21, (I just turned 38), or the fact that I am just trying to order desert to go would change her mind. I finally just got pissed and walked out. I wanted to order desert to go, not an alcoholic beverage.

Visited this past Sunday and the service at the bar was dismal. The bartender was only attentive to her friends sitting at the end of the bar and was more concerned with looking at a stack of receipts than checking on any other customers. My wife and I ordered a cocktail and water and then perused the menu. I finished both the cocktail and water in approximately 5 minutes and was never offered a refill or asked if I'd like another. We ended up ordering some meatballs and the antipasto plate. The antipasto plate arrived quickly but the cheeses we're mediocre and it was literally just some sliced meats, swiss, and olives. We also ordered some meatballs which I suspect sat in a window for 15 minutes as they were hardly warm by the time they arrived. They were actually pretty good in taste and value. After sipping on the wife's water (as mine had been empty for 20 minutes at this point) I decided we should move on but flagging down a bartender that won't even look at you is difficult. I finally handed her a card with a "you can put it on here" without even seeing the tab.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
