Slow service, no one takes their job seriously there except their manager

Pretty damn good pizza!!! am visiting my sister this week....in town from California....and the family all just HAD to try some local pizza. We took to Yelp to guide us and WE ARE DEFINITELY HAPPYY!! Their crust is so fresh and perfectly doughy/chewy/soft. Their sauce is not overwhelming and just mixed soooo well with the crust and toppings. Their is plenty of cheese and fresh toppings. Their veggie toppings are perfectly cooked too, not soggy nor crunchy, just perfect. Their wings are great and come with a side of hot sauce that is super spicy and yummy! They definitely pleased us and made US VERY HAPPY that we chose this place is our 1 night of pizza dinner!!! :-)

Bon Appetit!! :-) While passing through Dover (on our way to Ocean City, MD) we needed something simple for dinner. After reading the reviews on Yelp we decided to try it. Very glad that we did!! Clean restaurant. Excellent service. Delicious food. Now granted, we only had the tossed salad and a large pie but (a) the bread they put on the table was really, really good and came with a 'dipping oil', (b) the Italian salad dressing was also really good, and (c) the pizza - 1/2 cheese and 1/2 Hawaiian - was great! The pineapple and ham on the Hawaiian side were delicious! I overheard a gentleman at another table say that his salmon was excellent. Don't know if / when we'll ever return (because we live 5 hours away) but I can honestly say that if we lived nearby we'd be here on a regular basis. If you're in Dover and you're looking for good Italian please do give them a try. You'll be very happy! :)

Four of us went to Francos for dinner last evening. Best Italian food in the Dover area. My veal was tender and done perfectly. Two people in our group had the Salmon special and said it was wonderful. Portions are large so come hungry or take home the remains in a box. We all said we would definitely go back.

Never dined in, only takeout. Pizza was yummy but very greasy. They are generous with toppings. Cheesesteak looked good, but was a little bland. Prices are a little high for my taste. $2.75 for a 2 liter is pretty ridiculous.

Stopped here for lunch. We all got the lunch special. Bread at the table before meal was nice. The special included salad, bread, drink and 2 pieces of pizza for 10 bucks. To say the pizza was big would be like calling Everest a hill. The sub was way to much for even my big butt to eat all at once. Great food and a great deal. Brilliant

Wow now I love pizza & this pizza taste like pizza from NY! Fresh ingredients & Marco was very pleasant!

The very good food is offset by the service that can be maddeningly slow. The wait staff is friendly enough, but waiting 45 minutes to be served subs and a stromboli was making us wonder if they were kneading the bread and butchering the animals for the meat while we were waiting. I would love to give Franco's a higher rating, because the atmosphere is nice, the food is good, and you get a lot of food for your dollar. But I can't overlook the service which makes you want to bring along a good novel to read while you're waiting for your food to arrive.

I've yet to try a dish I didn't like here. The wait staff is incredibly friendly. The bread is amazing!

We have gotten pizza carry out here before, but this was our first time dining in. The service was friendly, but very slow. It was almost 15 minutes before someone came to take our drink order, although multiple servers called "just a few minutes" on their way by. After our drinks were delivered, about five minutes later our server brought bread- which while tasty, is served on a plate with a handful of butter packages. We ended up waiting almost 45 minutes for our pizza, during which time we weren't even offered drink refills and never saw our server. The pizza was fine once it arrived. I feel the best description for a pizza from here is simply "adequate". I would eat here again to try the pasta dishes but the service leaves me not wanting to do that any time soon.

Just ordered the Tortellini Alfredo w/ sausage cut up and mixed. This was the very best tortellini I have ever had. Highly recommend.

Worst tough and BURNT pizza i have ever had. Went to have dinner with family bread was good kids spaghetti was he liked that. Ordered large pizza we ate two partial pieces and sent it back because the crust was burnt visible black on crust. They did not offer to make another one but they did take $4.67 of the $20 price for it. So I paid $15 for two slices of burnt pizza. This is after management came to the table. I cant see how this place gets moderate or any good ratings

You go in by the McD's on Route 10 or the entrance to General Green Apartments. It shares a lot with a small strip mall. The food is is very good, very fresh food. And affordable. We had a salad that all of our party agreed put Olive Garden to shame. Fresh, crisp, full of shredded carrot, tomato and other goodies, and the house dressing is really their own, no emulsifiers, just oil, vinegar, herbs and really tastes good. (But they have the regular dressings you may prefer.) Our lunch lasagna was a slice (not a block) of lasagna in a good marinara. The meat was not so great--kind of a puree of what we thought might be pork, with egg and breadcrumbs, almost like a meatloaf (solid, not chunks of loose ground meat or sausage.) The pasta was perfect however. I prefer my lasagna cut as a block--this made the lasagna noodles into ribbons (if you can imagine like a layer cake, not like a sheet cake block? Do I make sense?) and none of us liked the meat part but we still really loved the lunch and gave it good marks. The bread is OUTSTANDING. Crispy, fresh, and real butter served with it. The price for three people (before tip and with just water/lemon as drinks) was under THIRTY. We'll be back.

Never had anything but excellent food and excellent service (especially if you get Marco!). I couldn't tell you my favorite meal, I have loved: baked ziti, spaghetti and meatballs, manicotti, lasagna, chicken parmesan. Their bread is hot and delicious. Mmmmm. My husband gets the spaghetti bolognese almost every time. P.S. Portions are huge! Yum!

Franco's is a great Italian restaurant that succeeds in effectively balancing decent quality with a nice dining area that is family friendly-- maintaining its character without losing it's sense of style. They do dine-in and take-out, and include all the sides for the items to-go. They even have some interesting soda options in 2-litre bottles. I've had mixed experiences with the food from Franco's but the pizza is always top-notch. They make it all by hand, right next to the counter so you can tell everything's fresh. Generous with the toppings, they have great recipes that work well with my palate. The baked ziti, on the other hand, I found to be relatively bland and boring. Moral of the story: stick with the amazing pizza!

Over rated piece of junk. Pizza tasted awful. Seemed like slice of pizza had been sitting out for a while . Not going back here . Over rated ... junk pizza

It was a busy Saturday night, but the staff was all polite and kept apologizing for the delay. The wait was not too bad considering it was busy. The portions are huge, so you'll have left overs for a couple meals. All of us had different dishes that were delicious. The olive oil with fresh bread was a great starter. The salad was fresh and home made dressings. I'm definitely coming back again. Great value for the price.

Excellent bread. Best Italian food outside of NYC the owners are on site and always making sure customers are happy. We go here for all family occasions and can always be accommodated. Best eggplant parmesan in the world! Marco and Carmella are friendly and great

The food was very good, but the service was so terrible I wouldn't go back or recommend this to anyone. Let me start by saying we arrived as a party of 9: 4 adults & 5 kids under age 10, BUT I specifically searched for a restaurant that said good for kids and groups. We were seated in the dining back dining room as the front was full. It was full for a Wednesday night at 6. The waitress took our drink order 2 at a time. We tried to get all the 5 kids at once but since she wasn't writing it down, came back with the wrong drinks. That was the last we saw her for an HOUR. Someone else brought us bread and after our waitress twice failed to bring us creamer for coffee, we asked someone else, by that time the coffee wasn't hot. People next to us left. People on the other side of us somehow got salads before us; we got salad after we specifically asked for them. Our appetizers came at the same time as the meal, which was only served after we asked where the food was and then spoke with the owner who wasn't very apologetic. We got a whopping 10% discount off the bill & were told by the waitress it was only her 2nd week waiting tables. Thank goodness We were able to get our own leftover containers or we'd have been there another hour!

Good food. Quickly prepared...usually. Friendly staff. Across the street from work so that helps a lot at lunch. The lunch special is the best. Tried the clam sauce once. Didn't really dig it much personally.

The Italian accent presented to us by the lady taking our order was so over the top that this naive Midwestern thought for a moment that she was making a crude joke. Only after a few more sentences did I realize that, no, she really was that Italian. It appears this carried throughout the restaurant and into the food, from the fresh baked bread, to the true NY-style pizza that gloriously peppers this part of the country, to a pretty good-looking and a bit unconventional lasagna that I got to see but not touch. I found the pizza to be a little too heavy on the grease, but I was just happy to be eating the products of someone who knows how to knead a ball of dough. It's difficult to get much more Italian than this.

Stopped in for a couple slices of pizza for takeout. The girl at the counter seemed a little spaced out. I ordered a drink with my slices and I just stood there until she realized she hadn't given me my soda. I had to ask for napkins too. Pizza was thin and crisp but a little pricey at $3 for a medium sized slice of cheese. It was thin, slightly crisp with a note of garlic. May have been better to buy a whole pizza because the slices were pre-made and were thrown back into the oven when I ordered them.

We were on the highway and decided to make a quick stop at macdonalds. When we pulled in to the parking lot, I spotted Franco's and decided to give it a try. The first thing I do when visiting a new place is to check out the bathroom. This one was very clean, and the Italian ceramic tile was nicer than ours at home! Anyway, the service was great. The manager came to our table to greet us and made us feel at home. All we had was a pepperoni pizza which was delicious. The menu looks awesome and I am certain to make this a regular stop on our way south again. This is a real Italian restaurant! Monja!

Food is good and waitress was very nice. I was very disappointed to see an air conditioning vent that was filthy and loaded with dust right above a food prep area in the kitchen. I was going to say something but I was with five others and didn't want to bring it up. Hopefully the manager sees this and cares enough to fix it. But my logic is if that is what I can, what about what I can !! keep a lookout.

Stopped here on a road trip after reading yelp reviews. While the prices were a bit higher than expected, portions were huge and waiter was super friendly! A great alternative to route 13 chain fare. (And we heard the "real Italian-speaking waitress, and she was friendly, too.). Kids portions were sizable and good.

So far so good at Franco's. I'm here at Dover AFB for a while and so I have to eat out a lot since I don't have a kitchen in my room. I got off work late and wanted something quick to eat. So pizza was the perfect choice. Called them up and ordered a slice of cheese and slice of pepperoni (my staple order). I was pleased they had New York style pizza, which was thin with a good sauce to cheese ratio. The toppings weren't as fresh as other pizzerias I frequent, but the pizza was still good. The place is a little mom and pop establishment with friendly workers twirling pies all night. They have a seating area that seems it could fit around 30 people. Most people were ordering food to go though since it's pretty small. Very convenient to Dover AFB and an excellent pizza option compared to Grotto's pizza on base. They also have pasta and subs. Thanks Franco's!

Woohoo! As good as it gets! ..That is, for Dover Delaware anyway. Seriously though, I reccomend you try the 3 cheese calzone. At a modest 8 dollars for a "small," this monster comes out to be about the size of your head. Czech it out!

You can get anything from pizza, a cold sub to a fancy meal. All the food is great. Portions are really big for the price, I usually take something home. Its hard not to fill up on the bread because it is so good.

I love Italian food made by actual Italians and this place fits the bill. Great pasta, fantastic pizza and subs. This is my go to when in Dover and looking for that authentic Italian fix. the atmosphere isn't fancy but let's be honest Dover isn't fancy it's a blue collar city and with blue collar people. A great Northeastern style Italian eatery.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
