This has to be one of the best sandwich places in the area. If you can get here during their laid back hours (8am-3pm Monday through Friday), then go for it. My girlfriend and I got the Sante Fe Chicken Sandwich and Italian Roast Pork Sandwich. Both were out of this world. The roast pork rivaled the famous DiNic's from Philly. Bitter broccoli rabe, impossibly juicy pork, and authentic sharp provolone. The Sante Fe chicken was also incredible. Spicy enough to give it a little kick while not overpowering. The owner is also incredibly nice and friendly. She gave us a history of the shop, which has been around since 1917 (moved from Philly). I'll be going back soon to grab a shot of some food and the menu. I've lived a couple miles away from this place my whole life my entire life and never heard about it. What a shame. This little gem deserves some more attention!

Another stop on my most recent business trip. I actually used to frequent this place back in the 1990's when I lived in the area, but it's been darn near 20 years since I have set foot in the place until this afternoon. My god it is still good! The Cheesesteak was to DIE for. As good as any of the big-name places in Philly. Really, really good. They have reduced the size a bit since back in the day, but that's probably a good thing since I can't eat quite as much as when I was young. The only complaint here would be that the staff is every bit as rude and unfriendly as they were back in the day, but what do you expect when you go into a place like this, especially in the Philly area...LOL. The bottom line is the food...and it's awesome...you will be hard-pressed to find a better Cheesesteak.
Best place for delivery in Claymont. Their cheesesteaks, wings, pizza, and calzones are all very good. The girls who answer the phone and work the counter could be more friendly though. They seem annoyed to have to answer the phone or ring someone up.
Pretty decent food. Staff is generally friendly and quick. The cheesesteaks are a little lacking. They are good but could definitely use a better cut of meat and more cheese. They are very messy. The burgers are large and pretty good. I'd definitely eat there again.

Rigatoni’s Famous Crab Cakes

Reviews:
I can't speak for the bad reviews, I can only speak for myself...my mom, sister and I went here on a limb (looking for the better wine deals) and my sister and I had the combo supreme..I also got the stuffed mushrooms, my sister had the stuffed shrimp..my mother got the mushrooms and shrimp...I was blown away...to say that these crab cakes have fillers in them is a bunch of bull crap..no fillers what so ever all crab meat. Ifk what the special sauce is but its so good. Everything was cooked to perfection. Its one young lady in there..slim, caramel complexion, sweetest approach and warming smile....she needs a raise. My order was delayed..she handled me with no hesitation... We're in the car now raving about this place on instagram and Facebook. Forget the bad reviews and get in a car and try them out. I live in philly and will making another trip here.
Stopped there on a Friday during Lent, after Home Depot run. It was very crowded, I figured that was a good sign. Ordered the cream of crab soup and a veggie flatbread to go. Couldn't wait to get home to have the soup, so I attacked it there at the store. Can't describe exactly how good it was without making rude noises. The cream of crab soup ranks up there with the top two that I have had, the other one was at Big Fish Grill - Pumpkin Crab Bisque. Anyway based on the the soup, I'm definitely going back to try the other offerings.
Trust me... Just go there. The crab cakes are some of the best I have ever had. Went to total wine and tried the place for take out. Both my wife and I ate two large cakes. Plus the apple puffs were great too. Will get more next time I'm in area.

Arby’s

Reviews:
Food-wise, this is a typical Arby's. But interior-of-the-restaurant-wise, this place is superior to every Arby's I've been to--it's clean, comfortable, and well-decorated in warm colors. I could have settled in my booth for hours. I'm far more used to southeastern Pennsylvania Arby's restaurants, whose dining rooms are barren and utilitarian in the style of school cafeterias. I've never seen more than a few people eating inside an Arby's. The only thing that kept me from staying longer in this Arby's (to get a little work done) was that the place was freeeezing. If they would cheese it with the air conditioning, I could imagine this becoming the first Arby's with a full-ish dining room.

Primo Hoagies

3501 Philadelphia Pike
Claymont, 19703
Reviews:
Wow, that was a great sub. Hoagie. Sandwich. Whatever you call it, this was tasty. I followed the Yelp crowd and went with the Chicken Diablo. It was quite hot, with a Buffalo sauce that was nearly straight Tabasco. Whew! Plenty of chicken and cheese on here and the sweet peppers were very tasty. Even the Primo (medium) size is a goodly amount of food here.
Even though I love these hoagies I have the following complaints about this particular location. 1.) all my co-workers and I wanted for dinner was Italian hoagies to the hospital where we work. It took a lot of work in order to find someone to go pick them up because they wouldn't deliver to us, even thought my one co-worker begged and told them how hungry we were. 2.) when the order got here, they forgot to put oil on two of the hoagies. 3.) they forgot to give us our hot, sweet peppers and long hots on the side. And we paid $1.00 for the long hots! 4.) they didn't know what a sarcone's roll was. This is a problem.
Nothing beats a Primo! The bread rocks. My go to is the chicken Diablo. This Primo is a lot better than some. Always clean. Friendly staff and weekly specials that I feel other locations do not have.

Good pizza best I had in Delaware. I had half pep and half mushroom. I love the crust and the cheese portion. The topping was a Little light but over all it's the best around this way. I want to try their steaks I heard they were good. To bad they don't deliver
Best cheesesteak in town! Excellent customer service & great prices! I always make a special trip here when I'm in the area!
Some people may like an enormous amount of food slopped on a hard roll I'm not one of these people. Ordered. Mini tuna sub pretty big for a mini. Tuna salad bland. No flavor at all. The photo says it all. I scooped off the equivalent of an entire can of tuna off my sandwich. Maybe ill save it for another day will definitely never spend another dime at this place. Subway is an upgrade and I depise. The chains.

Claymont Steak Shop

Reviews:
I don't make it here as much anymore, so I figured it was safe to write a review after all these years. First of all, I don't know how Claymont got the "best cheeseteak in Delaware... Big deal, right? But still, you can only live off a reputation for so long... I can think of a few places just downstate that blow the doors off theirs. I admit, they make a good chicken cheesesteak and a damn good meatball sub, but I will not eat the rolls (on any Claymont sandwich) except for the ends as they do not meet my standards. Way too soft for me, so good thing plastic forks are handy... I can't figure out what it is, but the beef in the couple regular cheesesteaks I've had is either 1.) not as good/tasty as the other places I like better or 2.) their grill is too clean... The previously mentioned meatball sub should be on the best of Delaware list though. Make sure to phone ahead around noon, and make sure to call your orders in separately as a combined order leads to CHA-OS at the register when you come in. Also, I wish they would cut bigger holes in the trash can lids... I know it's to save the baskets, but it can be quite annoying for those of us who pay attention to what we throw away. On the positive side, the sizes are large for the price, they carry Herr's sourdough pretzel nuggets, and the service is friendly and fast once you get past the paying part.
A good local spot. We ordered larges and have enough for the next meal - they even wrapped the other half up for us to take home. High quality meat. We would have ordered with extra cheese. We ordered a 5lb box of meat to take home for future cheesesteaks. Even bought some of the fresh rolls. The dining area is very casual.
for a so called "specialist" in philly cheesesteaks...it was pretty average, at BEST. I was confused because i walked in and it seemed busy, they had a big shop with like 10 people working...so i was all hyped for an amazing cheesteak...nope. Ill try it again to make sure they werent just off that day, but you can get better steaks at any local pizza shop

Tucked away in the back/side corner of a dead strip mall. Good chicken dishes, especially spicy ones. Beef ok, stay away from the rest. Prices are good for the portions you get. Bit of a language barrier when ordering, so don't bother asking questions - just pick something.

Great burgers, tasty milkshakes and homemade potato chips!! The downside is this location seems to take forever to make anything. Seems like they are understaffed but the wait is worth it. You can also call ahead and order online as well to cut down the wait.
Good product, bad service. It just seems like they are really inconsistent on wait times. Had to wait a half hour twice, so I can't even afford to go back. wastes too much of my lunch hour. If their management reads this, take note. Seems like there is a lot of turnover, no one is trained properly, and they seemed surprised that it is lunch time. I was talking to a guy outside that was pissed off and having the same experience. Fix these issues, and I am sure you will be more successful!
Food is great...but wait time was awful. 25+ minutes for a single cheeseburger and a side fry!

McDonald’s

Quick stop for a very hot coffee (and some napkins to clean up a spill in the car). The coffee was quick, it had the right sugars and cream in it (and then I added some ice cubes), and the napkin dispenser was stocked properly. The restaurant was clean, the parking lot was clean. This is a good McD's.
My daughter wanted a late night snack. We pull up to the drive through and we were ignored for about a minute until someone took our order. We pull up to the window to wait for our food. We waited for at least 15 minutes before we received our food. I asked for an ice cream cone and the girl stated that they could not serve them after midnight! My daughter begins to eat her fries a d they were cold. I went in to the store to get hot fries and I saw the girl throwing the fries that she gave to my daughter in the trash! The back where the food was served had trash and food all over the floor. That was the worst experience I have had at a McDonald's and I have had some pretty bad experiences in the past.
Slow. Very slow. Beyond slow... That said the food is standard McDonald's.
