Hit up the Old Chicago in Arvada for some late night grub. We had a bad experience at the OC in Silverthorne so we had a our fingers crossed on this one. We seated ourselves since the waitresses wwere running around with drink orders and I let them know where we were. Waitress was nice said she would be right over which she was. Ordered water and it arrived quickly. Places the food order and it was brought out shortly and in order, apps first and soon followed by the main course, "Chicago Style" pizza which means thick dough pizza, not a problem there. All the food was presented well, served hot and tasted good. Over all above average pub grub, not too salty or greasy. Definitely another go to for our late night list.

I'm really not a fan of pizza, calzones and the like even though I will eat it when starving. On this particular night it was late and this place was in our cars view so we settled on this. Service was normal, not bad and did his job. Here's is the rund down: Lettuce & Avocado salad w/caesar dressing on the side 1/2 order - Not Really bad, but not worth the $8.95, go to whole foods instead or even mickey d's salad is much better. Dble mushroom & swiss burger cooked medium- No taste No Flavor and Just Bland!!! Everywhere is better for this burger than this place. Hubby had Meatball Calzone - I tasted his filling, but the ratio of filing to Dough was not balanced. It was Mostly ALL dough, but the filling was delicious and I usually don't like mozzarella cheese with meat. They didn't have Hot chocolate so I got hot tea, when I saw the tea bag he brought out, it was those nasty cheap tea's that even the Dollar store doesn't sale! I Will NOT be back to eat at this place, a Huge let down and I wasn't even expecting much to begin with. The name is very misleading cuz they ain't nothin Chicago about this place and I've lived there before, my bestie's from their and ex fiance. Maybe I'll get pizza from them for take out one day just to see if that is Chicago like.

We sat in the bar to watch the steelers and patriots game this evening. Sarah M. was our server and she was excellent! She was quick, friendly and enthusiastic in the loud, chaotic environment. We will be back to visit while Sarah M. is working! Thank you!

Beer Tour. Two words.... love trying new beers here. Oh and the eat calzones too! We always sit in the bar area and there is always just one server that is busy as heck and get to you when they get to you. I generally don't mind because I just sip on my beer, watch a lil TV and chat with the DH. Last time I was here I ordered the trio app and I have to say that the mini pizza roll thingys are the best! I love to eat the browned bottoms of them - yum! I could care less about the nachos and garlic cheese bread. My DH had the chicken sandwhich and boy that thing was huge! However, the chicken patty looks a little bloated as if it was soaking in water or something for a loooooong time to foam up that way....strange. I still haven't completed a beer tour yet, but one day I hope to...wish me luck.

This is to give a thumbs up for the new pizza menu. On the list of their artisan pizzas is now a roasted chicken pesto pizza topped with balsamic glazed onions and 3 cheeses. The sweet & tanginess of the onions was awesome with the pesto. It was by far the best pizza I've had here and competes with some of my other local favorites. Don't miss it!

Went in just recently, I usually get the sampler platter with my boyfriend but considering those were not that terrific the last time we decided we would try something else completely. They have re-done their menu = more expensive and less options. A create-your-own-calzone = 11 to start with every additional ingredient $1.25? Since when did Old Chicago charge fine dining prices? Apon eating I found my calzone dry and undercooked. There was hardly any cheese.. Basically it was overpriced, not that good. I'm surprised they're charging what they are for what they offer. Much better places around to choose from . I will not be returning

Although their food is pretty good, overall the services is below average. Drinks take quite awhile, and the food has always takes longer than 40 minutes. Make sure you order everything correctly the first time, because it could be awhile if you need an extra side of ranch.

  • Morgan T.

Love the "World Beer Tour". Wish they had a few "lighter side" menu items, and why would you get rid of regular chips and salsa.

  • Suzie S.

Service was good despite busy rush hour. Pizza is okay but not outstanding for $24 price tag. Costco sells the gift cards at a reduced price which makes for a nice gift for coworkers but this wouldn't be my first choice for pizza. I have ordered the pasta and it was dry and portion small for price. Much better choices in the area for pizza/pasta

Parking can be tight! However, the half priced wings for child and father make up for the parking lot adventure. Love eating out on the patio during the summer time when the sun sets. I must admit there is always some drunk chad or nerd thinkin' I'm from Jerzey Shore and commenting on my tattoos in front of there wives or girl friends. So I always feel obliged to pull of my t-shirt and flexing them abs and guns. BTW I do reject the phone numbers their significant others slip to me. haha!

The food at Old Chicago is OK, nothing special. And although they were out of the buns for the Chicago hot dog, which was the reason for the visit, the service is worth 4 stars. When we tried to place our order, the waitress was very apologetic, offered recommendations and at the end of our meal she talked us into taking the free dessert she offered and sent the manager over to apologize as well. Overall fantastic customer service and we'll return in a few weeks to try again.

Chain pizza Chicago style. Pretty good deep dish pizza. A little heavy on the sauce and toppings which sometimes results in an undercooked crust. We prefer their marinara sauce to their regular pizza sauce (a little too sweet). A good coating of olive oil in the pan gives the crust a nice flavor. Had good and bad pies depending I guess on who's minding the oven. Great beer selection. I think we prefer the 104th and Colorado location for consistency and the Boulder location on Pearl street because we have history there. The hot Giant Cookie with ice cream on top is pretty good if you eat it there but it doesn't travel or keep for home.

Good pizza, and beer. I also like the caprese salad. Service has been a bit slow at times, but generally is pretty good and the staff is accommodating and friendly. My family likes the food and game room and I can go and relax and watch some football or other sports. They had some pretty good specials during football games last year so I'm sure I'll go there again to check out some games.

I love this place and have become a regular at the bar. Join the world beer tour to get free swag. The beat the leader promotion where you pick NFL games every week to win free food was very cool and also free to play. If you work in the industry, like myself, they give you happy hour priced drinks all the time. The food is pretty good, but not great. The staff more than makes up for any culinary shortcomings with ultra-friendly service. Oh yeah, they have the best beer selection on this side of town by far. Stop by the bar and have Scotty or Kevin to pour a cold one for you.

Just a quick update. Seems their beer prices have gone up... or their Happy Hours have gotten fewer. Either way, the beer prices are a bit steep if it's not on special... (over $4.50 for a Blue Moon. Really, Old C's? It's brewed UP THE STREET!) The Italian Nachos are still a fattening, interesting, unique indulgence. The crust of the Calzones is still homemade. The Pan-Cookie is still stupidly good. All the prices on the food, though, have been hiked as well. I actually saw $10 salads on the menu. How good can a salad from Old C's be? Seriously... It's still a fun place to watch whatever game happens to be on, though, and the people watching is spot-on. (If you take a bar table on the path to the bathroom, you'll have endless giggles. I promise. One guy in a striped polo actually waggled his eyebrows at us. WAGGLED! Who DOES that???) =) And... they're open till like... 2am. Can't beat that with a stick in this neck of the woods.

Great selection of beer and love to sit on the patio. Deep dish pizza is way too greasy but regular and thin crust are good. The spaghetti pie is delicious.

The old standby, you can't go wrong here. Good food, great service, and of course, THE BEERS. Our favorite watering hole....

Nothing special, just your average sports bar. The service was good, but the food was a little too spicy for my liking.

Walked into this location around 11:30 PM and about walked out. Many tables were dirty and covered with glasses and plates. Managed to find a table that was reasonably clean. We had a great server named Tasha who was fun and engaging. She stopped by frequently and made sure we were OK on food and drinks. However, the location seemed somewhat dilapidated compared to other stores in the metro and appeared in need of a revamp. The food was OK by Old Chicago standards.

    (3)
  • Heather H.

The pizza was spot on, probably the best I've had in years. The customer service.....is another story. Not sure why it took 25 min to get our drinks or why they were wrong when we finally got them. Because the pizza is so good, I'm giving this OC 3 stars.

I have been wanting to try one of the Old Chicago locations since I moved here and finally got the opportunity. I ordered a 14' thin crust with garlic, peppered bacon, and green onions to go. While I was waiting on the pizza to finish I had an Upslope draft, it was pretty good and they had a plethora of other choices of beer. As for the pizza, while it tasted really good and everything seemed to be fresh, the pizza was much smaller then what I imagined for something that was supposed to feed 3-4 people. We were a group of 4, one is a small eater that only took two small slices, and the rest of us were left pretty hungry. The service was all around pretty good and all the patrons there during the trivia were pretty nice and conversational as well. I would probably go there again but I would choose a better choice of pizza that will actually feed the group we have with us.

  • Aaron M.

I do love pizza just as 99% of Americans do. However, I prefer to find the one only ma & pap still hidden gems. With that, Old Chicago for a chain restaurant does offer a pretty mean pizza. Their beer selection is expansive and you will sure be able to find the beer you want.

    (3)
  • Seana G.

Been to this location a few times, they always have a good wait staff and great menus, I love the Italian Nachos, I hope those stay on the menu as they have changed it. Id like to sit in the bar area but it seems understaffed and it's always very busy in that area so we just grab a table. The pizza is amazing and the pricing is decent.

  • Jen M.

I'm from Chicago and when I moved here I wasn't impressed with the pizza but realized really quickly we're not in Chicago and the pizza here really sucks! Big time! Yelpers! help guide me where to find good pizza! Btw ! I like thin pizza like 90% of Chicagoans! Anyways with my ADD moment, I've learned to like Old Chicago! Now it feels like the typical chain! Dominoes! Yucky! I asked for what Chicagoans alike enjoy... Sausage pizza! I felt like the sausage came from a bag and spread on the already cooked cheese pizza! Man! This really sucked! Old Chicago ur right there with the sucky chains now! I think I just threw up in my mouth!!!!

  • Shannan M.

Been coming here for years. Corporate is corporate so you get a lot of what you would expect from Old Chicago. Service is good depending on who you get. I try to stick around the bar area to make sure the service is good. Never had an issue with the food. Plenty of vegetarian option in the pizza/calzone/appetizer categories. Nothing too healthy that stands out other than your standard side salad. Their happy hour is more more tempting these days, 3 dollar beers, none of this "premium" crap anymore. I guess they realized that there are A LOT of great places they make their own beer these days. I would definitely recommend happy hour pub pizzas, pretty filling for 2 bucks!

I honestly have never been to this chain restaurant but luckily the job was feeling generous and free food is never, ever, ever, refused. So in we went, reception and eye contact were immediate, told the servers name by the hostess and she came promptly within 5 minutes and all this at 11:45am so hey whatcha want? Saw a voluminous menu for drinks & food (basically good old gastronomical overkill) done proudly the American way but you better watch the doubloons! Domestic bottled beer averaged 3-4 and the good stuff went north up to crazy amounts for super special brews like some Belgian something or other for over 5. The drafts were more sane with a good selection of local and usual suspects- 16 to 22 oz if I recall correct within $4-6. The cuisine was not so extravagant price wise and certainly matched the fairly generous portions other like restaurants like TGIF and Chili's for the bang. I got a calzone (lunch size I guess?) that was around eight big ones and it was a disappointment in that- if it was hand made then C3P0 made it! The symmetry was geometrically perfect and the overall crust including the bottom was uniform with a golden brown appearance and the ever annoying steel grate texture on the bottom. But hey it hit the spot, ingredients were fresh and it tasted like an 8-9 on the flava scale. Would I return? Free always, but with my own coin maybe to try the pizza and a good paycheck. Hopefully it won't be a too stamped product...

After waiting nearly an hour we finally received our food. First time eating at this restaurant and was disappointed over all. Definitely not worth the price paid. Sauce was average. Average food. Pricing was more than expected for the quality of the food. It seemed to be more about the beer selection then the cuisine. We don't drink and we were expecting it to be a food centered establishment but it didn't end up that way. If you are looking for a good dine in pizza experience then perhaps look elsewhere.

The selection of local craft beer was pretty good and they had the usual stand by like Sam Adams. Coors beer should be proud enough to advertise their beer like blue moon and Colorado native but that is their problem. The pizza was very good and there was a good selection. The menu was large with m as my items so it took awhile. We took advantage of their two for twenty deal. The device was excellent. It was a bit noisey.

I wish this review was focused more on the food however we didn't get that far... It took 10 mins before someone even came to greet us at the front door. Then the male that greeted us extremely rudely asked what we wanted... Not sure that's how you greet people first walking in the door. Then before seating us explained the restaurant side closes at 10:30.... It's 8 so I'm sure we're good, no need to push us out before we get in. Then we get seated, 15 mins went by without anything else from anybody... No water, no someone will be right with you... Nothing! In the mean time he's in plain sight at the bar chit chatting with co workers. So we left! Worst service ever!! I love Old C's but will NEVER be back to that location!!!

Horrible service in the bar area. ordered a salad and pizza and both were wrong and waitress was very rude, can't remember her name but won't ever forget her big bug eyes and how rude she is.

    (1)
  • P S.

It's always hard reviewing a franchise since they're almost the same, so I guess a review like this should only focus on what makes a particular place better or worse than its peers. I guess the biggest bonus for this Old C's is that its the place open the latest for food and drinks in the area. However, their happy hour specials are not the same as other branches. The bar area is smaller, and the dining area looks rather dark and dingy. I would avoid this place if you had a choice (beaujo's anyone?), but for a 12:30 AM beer and pizza craving this will do.

  • Tyler H.

I ordered a club sandwich which was just try and tasteless. I also felt like I was in a Chuck E. Cheese or something. Little kids running around screaming, babies cryin, and stupid parents with no regard for people that haven't partially ruined their lives with noisy out of control children. I know the restaurant can't control who comes in to eat but with the crappy food and ridiculous environment I just can't give this place more than two stars.

This isn't the place to come to for an intimate date because it is ALWAYS loud, but my boyfriend and I like it all the same. The first time we came here we made a big mistake: we ordered the garlic cheese bread appetizer. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious... It's just that we didn't have room to eat much when our meals came. Some of the dishes we have tried: Pepperoni calzone- I really liked this but the pepperonis were a little to spicy for me. They are probably fine for most people, but if you have a sensitive stomach (I have ulcers), might want to skip the pepperoni. Club sandwich- the ham tends to overpower the turkey but I still love their club sandwiches. The bacon they use is delicious. Good bread too. Italian nachos- after learning our lesson about the huge appetizer portions, my boyfriend got this as a meal. The chips are kind of thin considering how much cheese, meat, and pepperoncini is piled on top, but they have a great flavor. Even after my boyfriend was stuffed, he couldn't stop eating until we asked the waitress to take them away. Service is usually pretty good. We've had a few "oops" moments but nothing to deter us from eating here. We are hoping that one day we'll be able to get dessert... Maybe if we don't eat for a week beforehand?

Of the chains of Old Chicago this isn't the best. And you can look forward to almost consistently awful service. I have had two of the three worst waitresses at this place, and the latest experience was just last night. Last night our waitress argued with us about refills, which were stated clearly on the menu and never coming back for refills. I think she was waiting on about three tables total and we were courteous although she did not reciprocate. For the waitress prior I did call and speak to the manager about her service, but despite assurances that we would receive better service we got her again and I think she might have been even worse. I would give 2 stars for the food and about a 1/2 star for the service, if that. It's so awful that I can't check any of the "good for" because I don't really think this place is good for anything. Grrrrr.

    (1)
  • Sean C.

I almost forgot, when the waitress brought us silverware, she dropped one of them so I picked it up for her and put it on the table. So she leaves that one and 3 other place settings so when she came back I told her we only had 3 place settings and needed a fourth to which she said about the one that she dropped on the floor "well you set it on the table I figured you were gonna use it" smh

Stopped in for a beer. Male bartender was cold and remote. No chat. No welcome. He seemed irritated that I was bothering him. Had two beers total came to $8 and I left $11, a $3 tip. This jerk took the money. Did not say thanks. No acknowledgement whatsoever.

When you feel like rewarding yourself, for whatever small accomplishment you just pulled off, I know the place and the sandwich, The Old Chicago Italian Melt (IM). Heck, this sandwich may actually taste better if you're feeling a little curt, fractious or just plain surly. It's a good "pick-me-up." The sandwich comes pre-assembled for you with layers of pepperoni, salami and turkey. They add lettuce, tomatoes and pepperoncinis to furnish texture, crunch, and color. And top it off with provolone cheese and red pepper mayo for zesty spice, not too spicy and not too pure. It's a Selma Hayek type of spice. And everything is stuffed between two slices of slightly buttered toasted rye bread. I need to come clean and admit, I am I butter hater. Just don't see the point. It hides the flavor of foods, adds calories and way too many cooks abuse it. I also know, like a superhero's sidekick, butter has its place, (lobster, popcorn and corn-on-the-cob) as long as it is there to support and not take over. And that's exactly what the buttered Rye Bread does with this sandwich; it helps support the array of flavors swollen between the bread. It's just moist enough and stops just short of being considered soaked. Think of the buttery rye bread as the "spanks" that holds this outfit together. I also order the jerked fries versus the side salad, coleslaw or fresh veggies. Come on what's the use of being surly if you're going to have a salad? When dinning with friends, I'll order the Spicy Spinach dip as an appetizer. It serves two purposes, it's delicious and there's enough to fill friends up so they don't ask for a bite of my IM. But that's like talking about an old girlfriend who moved away, because rumor has it, they are pulling it off the menu. Which is why this is just a Four Star Rating and not a Five. 1 Star for Rye Bread (Pumpernickle-no way) 2 Stars for the two P's (Provolone and Pepperoncinis) 3 Stars for three meats (Turkey, Pepperoni, Salami) 4 Stars for being able to add Four S's to the review (Selma, Spicy, Spanks & Surly) If only that fifth "S" (Spicy Spinach) was still available.

Awful, awful, awful experience! We waited forever for our food and the place was empty! We didn't get the bread that is supposed to come with the meal and the server didn't even acknowledge it. Then we waited more than hour for our food which made us late for an appointment and we had to take our food to go and eat in the car. If I wanted pizza to go, I would have ordered Dominos. Tables around us started getting their food, even though they ordered 15-20 minutes after us, the server said the cook was "cooling everything all at once". Are you kidding me? The manager didn't address the issue or even talk to us, even though he clearly knew that there was a major problem with the kitchen. Then when I gave them a coupon they had no idea what to do with them and again took forever. Overall, there is a complete lack of competence.

Ordered nachos without cilantro or tomatoes, they come to the table covered in cilantro. Ask politely for it to be remade and am told that was the "last order of nachos in the house". Friday during dinner time? I'm calling BS...

So I am going to try to be nice here since I have had some time to cool down. I want it to be known I do not blame a particular individual for my experience but have this more as a caution for people who enjoy dining out that cannot eat certain foods. So I went to this location a couple of weeks ago and I went with a few friends. There were four of us total. I ordered a build your own calzone. I asked for a few simple items such as chicken, avocado, and alfredo sauce. The food didn't take too long to come out as expected for a calzone. Our server seemed to be bubbly and friendly which was nice. Now I have not eaten any red meat whatsoever or any pork products for over two years because of an intestinal surgery issue. I started into my calzone and with my fourth bite I realized there was bacon in my calzone. I do not think someone intentionally put bacon in there but it ruined my weekend. I got pretty sick because of it. I directed the matter to the server and she quickly took it away. They made me a new one and the manager came out to talk to me. I informed him that I have not ingested pork for over two years until that moment. I understand the damage was already done and there was nothing they could do to take it back. The lesson here is if you work in a restaurant, though some people may be "extra needy and annoying" however, some people can really get sick from something you put in their food. I ordered an item that does not even come with bacon or meat to start. How bacon got in there is a mystery to me and will remain a mystery. They bought my meal and said sorry. Well that was okay I suppose. Not enough to bring me back and only enough to give this review two stars. As a previous restaurant manager I would have comped that entire meal and gave a certificate to try us again so we can prove we can do it right and a better experience next time. I feel like the effort to retain my business was pretty weak. I will not be coming back and now you know why.

OK food better beer. I do wish they handled substitutions better. Like the Italian Nachos for an app and the burgers best.

It's been a few months since I've dined at an OC and this night reminded me of their awesomeness! We had a large group and when we added our name to the list they said 10mins. Well we headed to the bar to grab some beers. Did I mention they have over 30 beers on tap at all times? We were having so much fun talking and enjoying our beers we forgot about the time we spent extra waiting for our table. Trisha was our server in the bar and she was so helpful we wished she could have continued to be our server for dinner. I missed this place and I hope I don't wait so long in between visits.

Talk about communication breakdowns. I called asking about happy hour this evening since I couldn't find the information on the website. They told me the times and I planned on enjoying the late night (10pm-Midnight) happy hour. Upon walking inside, I told the guy up front I was just here for happy hour at the bar and he gestured me in the correct direction. Guess what? They don't do late night happy hour Friday evenings. A lot has changed in the 2-3 years I've been to an Old Chicago. I still enjoyed my Italian nachos. The presentation is less nice, a metal platter covered with a white sheet. Hope you're a cheese junkie if you order this.

Horrible. Over 45 minutes just for salads and appetizers. Then orders incorrect. Forgot sides. One order didn't arrive until everyone else was done. NO recommendations for here!! Not coming back to this one!

Apparently my review got flagged... :/ I am the support team for my husband's mission to complete a tour. I'm not a beer drinker but I really love the program then have to reward their members (which is free) I like to grab a happy hour pizza and a glass of wine as it makes the experience very affordable. Last week we dived into their BIG chocolate cookie! Comes out in a deep dish pan sliced like a pizza... warm and gooey and melted chocolate... yes!

Spaten Oktoberfest is my favorite beer probably of all time. Workin' on my Oktoberfest mini tour! #2 and #5 are not good but #1 {paulaner blonde} and #6 {ayinger...} are great!

I was surprised to find that Old Chicago was out here when I moved from Wisconsin... then was told, amusingly enough, that Old Chicago is actually from Boulder, Co. Above average food and a great beer selection.

Terribly inconsistent. Great service or service so bad you walk out. The new menu doesn't fit the vibe and is too expensive too boot.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations.
