    This is a great place for breakfast! We walked right in early in the morning and the service was fast and great :) Loved the Huevos Rancheros - my only beef with them is that coffee was $5 which seemed exhorbitant considering the breakfast itself was $8. That said it was good and fast and reasonably priced for vail. Would go back for bfast again for sure!

    Stopped here for a late breakfast. Very friendly service and from sandwiches to breakfast fare all was delicious. We especially loved the Caprese Tart. Can't comment on dinner but we'll be back for brunch!

    This is more of a tip. We were going to Blu's as we have been here many times, and it is no longer in business. It was originally a disappointment for us as we had come here for many years. However we were very pleasantly surprised as the space went thru a major facelift and was replaced with a wood fire restaurant named Mountain Standard. We ended up having our lunch there and rated it highly.

    Went here last Friday night while staying the weekend in Vail. We were looking for an affordable dinner that was not a bar, fancy restaurant, or a diner. After looking at the menu posted outside the door, we decided on Blu's - looked like affordable prices and a decent selection. I wish I could take it back. The waiter brought fresh bread, which was nice. But he took FOR.E.VER. to take our drink order, and then after that, our regular order. When we asked for a list of wines by the glass, he literally had to go to the hostess stand and bring over the one tiny chalkboard that it was written on. He then proceeded to thrust it into my friend's face. Make sure to read the chalkboard at the hostess stand if you plan on drinking wine by the glass, lest you get a tiny board shoved in your face too. Two of us ordered the Ahi Tuna Sandwich, which came with fries - but we asked to sub the sweet potato fries for the regular fries. "Sure, no problem!" was the reply. Someone else ordered the meatloaf, and the last person in our party ordered beef medallions (cooked medium rare). One person also ordered a cup of chorizo chili to start. The chili was really good. I can't say the same for the rest of the food. After a solid 20 minutes of waiting, our food came out - and the majority of it was lukewarm. I'll sum it up here: -- Ahi Tuna Sandwich - nice, flaky texture to the fish, but oddly enough it tasted like NOTHING. so bizarre. And the tuna steak was about 3" tall - impossible to eat as an actual sandwich. You know it's sad when you've got this piece of seasoned, blackened ahi tuna, and the most flavorful thing on your sandwich is the tomato. The sweet potato fries were gigantic - each was probably about 1/4 of an entire potato. They were pretty good, though. -- Meatloaf looked like a gigantic slab of Spam. It even had that meat-compressed-into-a-solid-shape kind of texture. My friend liked it fine, but I would not have been able to eat it. -- Burger was fine, nothing good or bad to report about it. Which is normally bad in my book. -- Beef medallions (ordered medium rare) were cooked to be perfectly gray. And chewy. Gross. When the check came, the waiter noticed me using my phone to split up the checks and didn't offer to help, provide a pen for us to write down the different amounts, nothing. And those sweet potato fries that were "No problem!" to sub? $1 extra per substitution - which the waiter said nothing about. I don't mind paying an extra $1 to get what I want - I just appreciate the heads up. Overall, the service was mediocre at best (with hints of snootiness), and the food was forgettable. Do yourself a favor and spend an extra $20 to get good food and decent service somewhere else in Vail Village.

    I've been going to Blu's for years. I have had consistently good food and decent to excellent service. The green chili is a favorite of mine, as is the fantastic Colorado mustards they have on the tables. I haven't tried the new location, but am looking forward to doing so. The old location was great with a small park and the river right next to the patio. Bike parking in a rack next to the patio is a big plus for cyclists.

    The new location is not the same. They must have lost their fabulous chef. The service was good, the trout was good yet most of our dishes were mediocre. The onion soup was like molasses with no flavor except for the cheese((hard to mess up cheese), bread was stale and vegetables burnt and bland. It could be a good locals haunt but not worth drive from Vail Village.

    If you go, call ahead and ask if Nico is working. Make sure he can take care of your table. He has amazing recommendations and FABULOUS banter. He made our trip to Vail. Try the tuna sashimi, spinach salad and braised short ribs. Seriously, I'm adding this guy to my Christmas card list.

    Never use this place for catering! I am marking my 1 year wedding anniversary by finally writing a review on their wedding services. Needless to say Blu's and their catering manager Amy O were the worst part of my wedding day and were so bad that my husband and I are still reminiscing over how horrible they were. Amy never got our menu right...we couldn't sign our catering contract until 2 weeks before our wedding due to her multiple errors. My now husband was so frustrated. My mother, who wanted to host a bridal breakfast the morning of our wedding, was so stressed working with Amy O that she called to discuss using another caterer. My mother-in-law, trying to work with Amy O on the rehearsal dinner, felt the same way. The kicker? At my rehearsal dinner Amy O pulls me aside under the pretense that she wanted to cover everything for tomorrow. In fact it was a 5 minute very awkward and completely inappropriate conversation because she wanted to know if my now husband was mad at her. Who takes a bride away from her rehearsal dinner to try and create drama? The kicker is my wedding day. Already stressful trying to coordinate everyone and keep the various members of my family that had altitude sickness from passing out on bathroom floors. My sister brought some of the store bought (Safeway) bread items from the bridal breakfast to the townhome since I didn't get to eat much. I started on a croissant only to flip it over and discover the beginning stages of MOLD. Then my mom comes in and informs me that Amy O can't read contracts and ordered 2 red wines for our wedding and refused to go get white wine! Thank God for Amy Roden at Vail Racquet Club who stood up for us and told Amy O to drive the 30 seconds it took to the liquor store down the street. At our wedding the catering staff was dressed very professional. Amy O was not. Our DJ, per our wishes and what we had told Amy O we were doing, had a specific order for calling tables to the buffet. Amy O completely ignored him, was rude when he tried to talk to her, and instead of our families going first my co-workers (who can clean house on a buffet, thus the reason I wanted them last) went. Everyone at my wedding noticed her because of how she ran around like a chicken with her head cut off, tried to cut off multiple guests who were at the bar getting their FIRST drink, and then how she harassed me because I was too tired to host an after party at their bar. Amy O couldn't even get the invoicing right. It took 3 weeks after our wedding to finally pay the bill because she had it on the invoice that we never paid our deposit. We reached out to Tom the owner, who completely blew off our concerns after our wedding. Honestly if I knew what I was getting into I probably would have used a third party caterer or not used Vail Racquet Club at all for our wedding--and I know for a fact the owner and general manager of Vail Racquet Club would have words if Blu's is the reason why they are losing group business. The chef, Peter, was phenomenal. But if you are using them for catering and Amy O is the catering manager, just don't.

    Chef1,"I'm going to heat up this schnitzel in the microwave and then add it to that plate of overcooked gnocchi" Chef 2, "The only thing that would make that better would be some randomly chopped pieces of raw onion." I'd suggest that next time I'll get the trout, but there won't be a next time.

    We travel all over the world. The ruby trout was excellent and perfectly presented. The meatloaf was delicious. The view from the porch of the valley beyond was great and the wait staff was very courteous and helpful.

    The asparagus spears tempura is a fabulous appetizer!!!!!! And so is the chicken fried steak w/green chili, mashed potatoes & corn!!! We actually had this as a special & suggested they put it on the menu & they did!!

    We had a solid post ski dinner here. The pizza with spinach, mushrooms, fontina and carmelized onions was delicious. My friends also enjoyed the burger and the trout.

    This was our first stop for food in Vail and close to our apartment complex. Nice place and good service. I got a glass of red wine to ease the nerves of having had to drive in the dark and with snow from Denver to Vail. After a small ration of bread for 4 hungry travelers we ordered. The food took some time to come and the place was not really full. I got the stuffed squash with quinoa it was ok but a little plain. My friend got the burger which was ok and the other friend had a pizza marguerita. Good come back as it's a nice place and close but food is nothing out of the ordinary.

    I just had one of the best Caesar salads. The wait staff was nice and helpful and it was nicely presented. I loved it and was impressed. They were playing Neil Young!!! Thank you David!

    They serve food in Vail after 4. That's unusual. Lunch even came with a C-list celeb sighting. (Anna Trebunskaya from DWTS if you must know.) The open air layout overlooking the park was quite nice. It is on the lower end of the budget for being right in the middle of Vail. Overall the food was decent, but the server wasn't very sharp, fast, or abundantly friendly. Good thing for her my mom paid the tip. Blu's would have scored higher had the rice with the Peaches & Chicken curry not been burnt. My wife's sandwich & sweet potato fries were very good though.

    We own a condo 200 yards from Blu's so I speak with some authority. First, calling ahead is a good idea as their hours vary with the seasons. Food is great however their chicken fried steak with green sauce is so good I can't order anything else for dinner. I've promised to order something else when I get tired of it but obviously that hasn't happened yet. Their barbecue chicken pizza tastes great and a small one is ample for two. If you are by yourself go upstairs to the bar. You can order food, drink, there are TV's, a friendly bartender and interesting conversations even when not invited! Prices are reasonable by Vail standards.

    Had a great meal tonight from Blu's. My family did take out. We used to love going to the old location, and were very happy to find them again. The new location is modest. The food is still great, even with take out.

    I ate at Blu's last night and after eating there, I felt compelled to write a review in light of all the negative reviews on the site. In short, the food was excellent and the service was good. I have absolutely no complaints about my experience and in fact would enthusiastically recommend this restaurant for value in Vail. Not sure what the issues were in the past, but it looks like they have fixed them. Great meal, good service and East Vail is a BEAUTIFUL place to go for dinner.

    I have been to Blu's old location in the village many times....just okay experiences. I have now been to the new location at The Vail Racquet Club at least 10 times. The food has been excellent every time! The barbeque pizza is my favorite, my companion had a great chicken fried steak and their breakfast was wonderful! Great service, great food, I really hope this location works out for them!

    Came to Vail for a family wedding. We had the rehearsal dinner here and we must of had 60 people in the banquet room. Service was spot on and the food was great. I had the pork chop with asparagus and hash browns. The rest of the families had filet, pasta, and trout. Everyone raved about the food.

    Eaten at Blu's many times before and after our wedding at the VRC. Blu's food was always very tasty and customer service was great. I highly recommend Blu's for catering especially. They did individually ordered dishes for our ~90 wedding guests and did a fantastic job preparing and serving our food. As someone who doesn't normally like salmon, their salmon was one of the best things I've ever eaten. John was very helpful in planning exactly what we wanted for food, drinks, linens, etc. It all definitely comes at a price, but it was worth it for us!

    I was really excited for Blu's to open in East Vail and even happier that my Dad was in town to experience it with me. Wow were we disappointed. We ordered burgers for the main course and had the tuna sashimi for an appetizer. The tuna sashimi was not the best choice. It was clearly not fresh and tasted as if was frozen and then seared. Out of the four burgers ordered, two were missing cheese and two were overcooked. I mean come on, these are burgers. Service was okay, but your server talking about being hungover from the night before is never nice to hear. I'll go back and try out the breakfast, but will probably just stick to beers in the upstairs bar later in the day.

    Not great at all. Service was pretty slow even on a night when we were pretty much the only ones in the restaurant. Both my salad and entree were tasteless - the squash quinoa dish sounded great, but was very disappointing. Would not go back.

    Summer trip to Vail, big group (8). The prices are reasonable for Vail. The food is a wide selection of American cuisine, but has interesting twists. People had burgers, quiche, and the surprise was roasted spaghetti squash with Quinoa salad. The beer and wine selection is vast (a common theme in Vail) and service was very good - quick service, orders all correct.

    For Vail Village this is an affordable laid back option for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I have to admit to loving their TOOTSIE WONTONS! They are yummy goodness in every bite. Filled with shrimp, cream cheese and green onion folded into an egg roll skin and deep-fried. They are warm and extremely creamy for cheese lovers! Perfect with a glass of wine. I can also recommend the Tuna steak sandwich and the homemade meatloaf. A nice spot for a laid back meal.

    A 3. 5 for solid, American food and for a restaurant that is a Vail institution. Blu's has been around for decades. Its cozy, what-you-see-is-what-you-get type of food. It is also a great , non-pretentious, reasonably inexpensive place for a group. Blu's offers a good local and artisan beer menu. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals from apetizer to desert. I can personally reccomend the artichoke dip, the truffle gnocchi, and the meat lovers pizza. The service was attentive and friendly. For breakfast, lunch, or dinner Blu's is worth visiting while in Vail.

    One of the better meals I've had in Vail on this trip. Maybe it was the lack of food throughout the day. Maybe it was all the hiking/biking in the mountain air. Whatever the case, we were extremely pleased with our dinner at Blu's. The half pound burger (with bleu cheese and bacon) was meaty and filling. The pork chop was good, but what made the dish stand out was the pear chutney (with a hint of curry). The salt/pepper gnocchi that accompanied the chop was pretty tasty, as were the vegetables. The pesto crusted barramundi definitely hit the spot, although the slaw was a bit disappointing. Dinner for three adults: two starter salads, a couple of cocktails and three entrees - $75 before tip. The service was prompt and friendly and dining on the patio by the creek is always a plus.

    My experience there was great, and short. I wanted a quick place to grab a bite while at the Teva Mountain Games. All the pizza places were packed to the gills. Not even room at the bar. I quickly wandered around and stumbled in here The waiter was fast and friendly. A local who game me the downlow on the town. The food was good. They had pricey items but also some specials. Definitely good food at a cheap price, especially for the area. I had a gourment version of fried chicken with some really good mac and cheese. I don't care for coleslaw much, but the bite I took of mine were pretty good....too bad I saved it as the last thing on my plate and was full. Dafe

    I've been to Blu's many times and never been disappointed. Most recently they had a "2 for $20" where you got an app or salad and entree for $20. This is a great deal. I would recommend the pear salad or truffle gnocchi. For entrees both the trout and mahi special were unique and delicious. Last year around Christmas carolers came in and serenaded us while we were eating. Our server was cheery and attentive. He kept a pitcher of water on the table filled which is perfect for visitors not used to the dry Colorado air. This place is a nice getaway from the stuffy expensive restaurants in Vail.

    Phew! I'm back at the condo and not a happy camper. My husband's distant relative called and asked if he and his wife could crash our dinner tonight and we said, "Yes." Well, their favorite restaurant in Vail Village is Blu's. We were a little taken aback because we tried the restaurant last year and found the food to be less than average. We don't like to sneer at 80-year-old relatives, so we said, "Sure!" The meal started out well, took a HUGE dip, and ended with a decent dessert. Here's a rundown of what we had: Appetizer: Tuna sashimi - Ahi peppered tuna, asian salad, wasabi and soy sauce, served with won ton chips. Very, very good and looking forward to the next course. Entree: Smoked chicken fettucini - the only words to describe this is VILE. Absolutely vile. Nasty skin on the chicken, gamey. Not sure it was even chicken. There was not alfredo sauce, it was oil. Getting chills just thinking about. Totally ruined the meal. Yuck! Dessert: The six of us shared the Pear, Rhubard Crisp and the Key Lime Pie. We passed it around and took bites until they were demolished. The Key Lime Pie, meh! The Crisp was delicious. Although the service was very good, the bathroom was clean, the atmosphere was nice, this was our second and last trip to Blu's.

    I'm not really sure why I didn't just give this place 1 star. Probably because I've only ever eaten there once so I can't judge EVERYTHING they make. I ate here for brunch with my boyfriend while traveling cross country. I ordered blueberry pancakes and a side of bacon and both were terrible. The blueberries must have been frozen originally because they had no flavor and seemed shriveled and small. The pancakes themselves were also nothing special. The bacon was also chewy and greasy, not crispy like it should be. Would never go back. Bleh. Oh and the waitress was from some eastern european country and barely understood our order...

    This place has been in Vail for many years, my wife and I have eaten here several times. However, this time we hit rock bottom, I ordered a Cobb Salad and was very disappointed, you would think it's tough to screw up a Cobb Salad, but not Blu's. A good example of laziness, the lettuce was still frozen, the bacon bits were as hard as a rock and overall it was not a very fresh salad. For $12 they have a hell of nerve...The onion soup was fair, like gravy, not onion soup! For a Vail restaurant, this is a sub-par experience.

    We went to Blu's old location, found they had moved, and so drove to East Vail for my birthday dinner. My pork chop was delicious as was the fish and chips my wife and in-laws ordered. Great food, good service. Nice place.

    The bad: appalling service. Seems that the kitchen staff must be the same staff from the last place that was at the Vail Raquet Club which, ahem, went out of business. They were replaced just 8 days ago by Blu's, which re-located from another part of Vail. The good: the comp'd two of our entrees to apologize. The recommendation: don't go. I guess I was optimistic that things had gotten better with a new establishment. I was very wrong. The table next to us was complaining about the service too. Skip this place and go elsewhere.

    Alright food and alright.service for vail. Normal overpriced menu with nothing.particular interesting. Fairly inexpensive and decent.wine.list.with.some reasonably priced (under $10) wines by the glass. Price was.right.for vail as meal with apps, alcohol and entrees was only around $100 for two. Yes this is reasonable and cheap in vail or lionshead.

    If you're reading this because you're looking for somewhere to eat lunch in Vail, you're best served going somewhere else. I'm not sure if this restaurant is under new management or something, but my family's last experience there was horrendous. Our waiter was rude. Not in the sense that he took an offensive amount of time to do EVERYTHING (though that was also true), but in the sense that he was a complete jerk to everyone in my party during the entire meal. I have a very high tolerance for that sort of thing. Usually good food makes me forget about bad service. But the quality of the food at Blu's was so far outweighed by the terrible service that I left with a bad taste in my mouth. I don't even know what else to say. Blu's was not worth what we had to endure. You're better off cooking at home than going to this place. At least at home no one will treat you like crap then ask for a tip.

    Their ad in a glossy hotel magazine says, "Open till 11 p.m. daily." And yet, after the Vail Dance Festival performance last night, we got there at 10:25 and were turned away. They looked at us as though we were nuts for even thinking that they could offer us food. Can you say false advertising??? Vail has a number of problems and this is apparently one of them- an aversion to offering food after 9:30 p.m., even when there are plenty of out-of-towners who are hungry and willing to pay to eat. Whatever.

    We had a great lunch at Blu's. I had the spinach enchiladas, very mild and tasty, and he had a pear/spinach salad which I was envious of ! Yummy. Service was good, not fast enough for the go-getter family next to us but we were not in a hurry so it suited us fine.
