A group of us stopped by here after a local graduation and apparently they weren't aware or didn't want the business. Ok let that go and order food. Seafood burrito was lousy. Cold, like they just tossed the ingredients in a wrap, sprinkled some cheese on top, and melted it in a microwave. Could barely see the shrimp. Can't understand how some rave about this place. Sometimes you only get a first impression and if you aren't on top of your game or want the business, you can stand the chance of losing future business.

THE best place to eat in Trinidad! I was in Trinidad many times for the last two years for work and this place was my go to for most meals. I branched out a bit but was always disappointed with any other restaurant. Practically everything on the menu is good, but I really loved their carne asada. There margaritas are also well made and a great size for the price. Out of the 15 or so times I dined there, I have only had slowish service twice.

I think it's good but not great. I have eaten here a few times since moving into town. Service is pretty good, but sometimes they don't seem prepared for rushes. I enjoy that the staff remembers me when I come in. It's welcoming, and the food is satisfying.

They do cater to what I would call the average gringo palate... But it depends on what you order. I give them 5 stars because they win for the best food any where in Trinidad. It's the only place I will eat at- and leave feeling good- not weighed down. Healthy choices are available. Que buena.

I'm picky with my mexican....and OMG, amazing and fresh. I had the special salad with steak, seasoned perfect no dressing needed. The Salas ...gotta be homemade! Best mexican in colorado for sure!

Having lived in Guadalajara, Mexico for 4 years, this is as real as Mexican food gets! Everything was so delicious...even right down to the chips, salsa and queso dip. Yum! We ordered their combo appetizer and I ended up ordering the "Apretalados", which is shrimp wrapped in bacon (delish!) and others in our group ordered the shrimp enchiladas, the chicken mole and the steak burrito with red sauce on top. Everything was hot, fresh and oh so tasty! My stomach is growling here in NJ thinking about how great their food was. Their selection of tequila's is top notch. So don't hesitate and go right on ahead & order yourself one of their famous margaritas or a "paloma" (tequila & Squirt)...you will not be disappointed!!! Their food is exactly what you would find in Guadalajara and in Los Angeles, CA (my hometown)...now if only we could have something like that in central Jersey.

We stopped by for a two day conference and had dinner here. It was great, friendly service and didn't have to wait very long for our food. The menu is a little over priced, but I can understand when it's practically further from downtown off the highway. Their margaritas are delicious and full of flavor. I would definitely eat here again, but would try something more on the cheaper side.

We stopped by on a road trip after seeing positive reviews. Was a good little stop, conveniently off the interstate, great prices and lots of good food. We both ordered chimichangas- one beef and one chicken. They were both perfect! Just what we were looking for and at a price that can't be beaten! The food was so good, we made sure to stop on our way back home.

Very good customer service. Combo appetizer was very good and based off of it, I would recommend their quesadilla and nachos. We ordered the chicken nacho and carne asada and they were perfect. Still not Albuquerque, but worth the stop

Why oh why would anyone go out of their way for generic , greasy food? Taco Bell about the same in quality. We just came back from Santa Fe so I guess we re a bit dis illusioned. All 5 of us had different plates, but still not a place we would return to. Karen

This is, admittedly, a regional chain, although I have never been to any of the other locations. It is also a good place to get together with friends for well made drinks and solidly executed food. This location has some of the strongest margaritas I have ever had. I had two of the "original" margaritas one night and had to be poured back into my car (by my designated driver). On the appetizer menu, the Quesadilla (available with steak or chicken) is a full meal by itself, and not too spicy for a gringo like me. I have also ordered their cheese crisp (called a "Cheese crispy," a name I have never seen used anywhere else), which I found to be both overcooked (read, burned) and too greasy at the same time. On the entree menu, the Chicken Mole very good, although right at the edge of my spice tolerance.

Ate here Christmas eve. It probably was the only place open in town. The employees are friendly and the service is of good quality. The food did not take long to come. One waiter came for a small talk with us. Later a man whom we assumed was the manager (not in uniform or appropriately dressed for the place or compared to the employees) passed by to ask if everything was okay. Unlike others his concern appeared routine or fake. However, I recommend this place. It you get served by Oscar that will be a bonus.

This place is pretty alright. Been here twice with my boyfriend's family on their trip to Crested Butte. I got the fajitas both times and they were decent, but I get better back home. They're kind of tough, but they're very flavorful. I went 2 days ago and the staff seemed more interested in the World Cup more than they were on serving. The food isn't exceptional, but definitely hits the spot if you've been on the road for a long time.

Traveling and in town for one night. Really looking forward to a great meal, but were completely disappointed. Whole fried fish was almost inedible and Carnitas were very tough. Service was very friendly however, and they had take out ready quickly.

I always heard Colorado didn't have good Mexican food, but as we came over from Texas through New Mexico, we saw it and we were hungry. This place had a pretty epic menu with tons of options that all sounded and looked pretty good from the pictures. I got the Chicken Enchiladas en mole and they were huge and great. The sauce was very thick and tangy with a good amount of chocolate and pepper goodness. My wife had some great cheese enchiladas and a chili relleno. It was all good, and possibly the best Mexican we've had out of Texas!

Food was okay, servers were friendly but a little slow and forgetful. Cadillac margarita was good. I'd like to try Rino's Italian next time we drive through Trinidad.

Perfect lunch! Super fast, good lunch prices, good service! My chimichanga smothered in green chili was great!

Finding this place on our long roadtrip felt like hitting the jackpot! It's SO hard to find good vegetarian meals on the road, and this place had amazing veggie fajitas that came with with black beans and guac. Plus, decent white queso!

We dropped by for dinner because our hotel was across the street. The food was ok. I am Hispanic and grew up on mexican food and this was just ok. We ordered the fajitas and almost immediately regretted it. It was mainly bell peppers and onions and hardly any meat. The meat they served was just smothered in spices and wasn't too great. I've had alot better. If I ever pass through here again, this would not be one of our stops.

We pulled up 10 minutes after they were supposed to be open. Some staff who were cleaning saw us and made no attempt to let us know if they would be opening anytime soon. Very disappointing.

If you find yourself visiting Trinidad Colorado, or just passing through, do yourself a favor and have lunch or dinner at Tequila's. It's a great family style Mexican restaurant with great food and atmosphere. The service is great and the value is too. Thirsty? They've got a great bar too. I recently had them cater a family reunion and the service, food, and experience were exceptional.

All the food was delicious, but unfortunately the taco tasted "gringoish". Doesn't any Mexican restaurant know how to fry tortillas for tacos the old fashioned way? All the food (carnitas, Rellenos, Enchiladas were #5, but the Tacos were a #2. The restaurant was well decorated, great ambiance , wonderful service staff, just needs great Tacos! Great food. Relleno exceeded expectations, and the tequila salad ordered with marinated chicken was enjoyed. Service was excellent. Sure wish they'd make their own ranch dressing--but we'll be back! Oh did we say the original margarita was outstanding!

I'm a frequent visitor to Trinidad area, and I usually stop here, The service is generally excellent and the for the most part, the food is too. I'd stay away from any of their really cheap specials, and I find some of the Margarita specials to be over the top sweet. That being said, the menu items are fairly priced, great portions and very tasty! I love the homemade salsa and queso. Atmosphere is comfortable, and has easy access to town and interstate. I will definitly continue to stop here from time to time and I would recommend Tequila's to my friends!

Great Mexican food in the middle of a long, empty stretch of Southern Colorado. Well-seasoned meat, delicious salsa, and a wide variety of items on the menu. Reasonable prices and a full bar.

This is one place that always seems to get recommended...not sure why. Food never seems to have much flavor, service is ok but if I'm paying for food I want it to be something I can't cook/microwave at home.

Salsa was fresh with some good kick, perfect accompaniment to a cold beer. Got the carne asada and it was sufficient. I know its skirt steak (which is usually tough) but I couldn't even bite through it with my teeth. But I improvised and moved forward since the flavor was there. Service was prompt and attentive throughout the meal.

Great authentic Mexican food near the NM and CO border. The green salsa enchilada and grande nachos fed the whole family. Service was friendly and fun. If you're looking for a good lunch in a small town this is a great choice.

The staff were amazing when they accommodated 26 for dinner on a Friday evening on very short notice. Chips are served with 3 choices of dips - a medium spicy salsa sauce, a cheese queso, and a delightfully different spicy slaw. Everyone appeared to enjoy the meal which was served amazingly soon after orders from all 26 persons were placed. Delightful decor, clean, and reasonably priced.

This is a pretty good option when passing through. I wouldn't make a special trip for it, but I feel like it is pretty authentic. My wife loved the Chili Verde. I enjoyed my Colorado Burrito. The chips and salsa were pretty good and I enjoyed the cabbage they provide as well. I did not care for the guacamole. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing either. If you're passing through and need a place to eat, give it a shot. It's better than the Wendy's next door.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
