You must try the heavenly combo! I come back time and time again and just cannot seem to stray away from those subs. Reasonably priced, quality, Italian cuisine served by a polite staff makes me glad this place is in walking distance from my house. 5/5

Awesome food. Always plan our trips to Colorado to make sure we get here in time for lunch. A must stop!!

Stopped in or dinner on our way down 25. And I'm so glad we did instead of eating along the road.we got rigatoni with sausage and a grilled chicken breast. It was all amazing! I would definitely stop back if I'm ever in the area!

My wife and I pulled into Trinidad with no idea of where to eat. Driving down Main, we saw this little hole in the wall. As soon as we entered, I knew we had stumbled onto something special. It has the feel of an authentic New York City deli. My wife had gnocci. My Italian sausage hoagie was awesome. The food is delicious, and the staff is awesome. Hope you can find a table!

Could not have been happier! Service was friendly & fast. The red sauce is amazing! You could put it over cardboard and I'd still eat it! Having just moved to Trinidad, I can tell this is going to become a favorite dinner spot.

Everything here is delicious. Family owned and operated. Very authentic. Take out and deli makes it very convenient. Staff is super friendly and accommodating!

Love, love this place. Have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. Some of my favorites are gnocchi, anything with meatballs and smothered in Fran's sauce, and of course, the delicious polenta. If you are ever in the neighborhood it is worth the stop.

Wow. The epitome of small-town, family-owned Italian restaurant. My mom and I came on a recommendation from the locals and split a large rigatoni with Italian Sausage. It was HUGE and very delicious, we each had big platters and that was only half of an order! They have a deli with dried meats and cheeses, plus you can just sit down anywhere and eat. The menu is fairly small, but it covers all Italian bases (rigatoni, fettuccine, spaghetti, spumoni, tiramisu, etc). The women working were so nice and were calling customers by first names, so no doubt it's a locals-only atmosphere. We were told they've been open for like 20-some years (it might have been more, I can't remember the exact number!) in that spot, plus they have the Italian sausage made locally specially for them. Amazing! The people in Trinidad are some of the friendliest I've ever met. I think I've been too jaded by the assholes in Chicago. :)

I was recently in Florence Italy and walking into Nana's was a treat. It was almost like being in the old country. The selection of meats was pretty diverse and the cheese selection was great. I purchased some of the cured olives in the case and they were delicious . . . flavorful. The Asiago and soprasetta was delicious. We didn't eat there but it looked like some of the regulars couldn't say enough about the meatball sandwich. Definitely going to visit there my next trip through Trinidad.

Maybe I'm partial because it my hometown but nana & nanos has never disappointed. Frans red sauce is to die for and she sells it frozen to go. My favorite is the gnocchi with meatball and Italian sausage. The deli counter is great with Italian meats and cheeses. The location is a bit cramped but quaint at the same time!

Delicious family run joint! All of our entries were great, but the Hot Beef Sandwich was the best. The dishes were carefully made, and that showed. The sauce, which was home made and came on most dishes was excellent. Additionally, it was cheap compared to most Italian restaurants, although I would have gladly payed more. If you don't mind a bit of a wait, which is 100% worth it, I strongly recommend this restaurant.

The best !!!!! From Colorado Springs, I crave this place . Best italian sausage sandwich I have ever had. If I lived closer I would be eating there all the time.

Stopped in Trinidad on the way to NM. As luck would have it, the pizza place we had picked out did not open for dinner until 5, and it was about 4:15 when we arrived in Trinidad. This place was open, and served us up a surprisingly good Italian meal. I had gnocchi with *fabulous* meatballs, and my husband loved his spaghetti with garlic and veggies.

This was the best Italian I have had since I left CT. The pasta it's self could use a little work but the fettuccine sauce was amazing!!! And trust me I am very picky when it comes to fettuccine. Definitely worth the stop. P.s they were very sweet to my service animal.

Nice old school Italian deli. The ingredients counter has a huge selection of deli meats and cheeses. Good food, well made, but just too slow. Have gone here for lunch a couple times, and ended up burning most of my lunch hour waiting for a simple meatball or italian sausage sandwich

Exceptional food with exceptional service. Nana & Nano's used to be a nice sit-down restaurant, then they relocated and cut back to a fast casual Italian deli. The food is absolutely amazing. I'd recommend spaghetti and meatballs or the raviolo, or alla olio, or gnocchi. So basically, everything is really good. You'll get a small salad and hot bread with garlic butter with your meal. Yum! They've also got a large selection of meats, cheeses, etc. in the deli case, if you're looking for something special to include in your own cooking. You can also buy a quart of spaghetti sauce and/or meatballs to use at home.

Pricy and not a very friendly staff, but the food is ok. There is not much to choose from in Trinidad, so it's a different place to go if you are tired of everything else.

Best Yelped place in Trinidad. The husband and I went for the old world food and because our maternal grandmothers are named Nana and Nano (which I found out meant grandfather in Italian). Small, wonderful home style cooking. Fran has succeeded in making everyone feel like they are in her house. Her sauce is divine, I had it over gnocchi with a sausage and the husband had it over rigatoni with a meatball. Both were great.

The place is small, but it is by far the best Italian restaurant in town.

Best Italian food I have ever had hands down. Stop there every time we go by there. They are closed Sun. Mon. and Tues. I would recommend to anyone. Great people and great service. Priced reasonable.

Because of a blizzard storm we decided to stay in Trinidad on our way from Fort Worth to Denver. We yelped this place and decided to give it a try. Nice "hole in the wall" place rich with history. The place is family run with roots in Trinidad from the early 1900's. Home cooked meals from Fran herself. Give it a try.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
