When in Sterling, your sit down options are limited. Fresh off a lunch trip to Taco Bell (have I made my point about Sterling's limited dining options yet?) we were recommended River City Grill by the locals. The menu is pretty all-encompassing and has everything from cheap sandwiches to filet mignon. Burgers, seafood, and salads sit in between. I got the French Dip sandwich. The bread wasn't all that soft and lacked that fresh cloudy taste of good white bread. It just seemed... off. The roast beef meat suffered a similar fate and had an odd baloney taste. Everyone else in our party gave similar mediocre reviews to their food. Service was excellent and prices were reasonable. Atmosphere is casual overall but still nice and classy. I'm giving it a boost to three stars based on the atmosphere and because it's one of only a few choices in the area.

Excellent fare! We were going from Iowa back to Colorado Springs and wanted to stop for dinner. We didn't want more cafe food, and felt we were going to be lucky to find something in the remote part of Colorado. We found the City Grill and thought we would give it a try. We were very surprised! The Delmonico Steak was the finest and most tender steak we have had in a very long time. It was grilled to perfection! The large shrimp were Panko breaded and must have been oven fried. It was not greasy at all. Overall the food was 5 star and the service was too!

Really solid restaurant in Sterling. It is comfortable and homey in the way that the chains try to be with all of their manufactured kitsch but I think they actually pull it off. The game sampler was great and the first time I've ever had duck wings prepared like chicken wings. I also had the French dip sandwich which was good, but the roast beef was cut a little too thick for my tastes. The tater tots with truffle salt are awesome and I feel like they are a good case in point for the whole restaurant, comfort food with a fancy twist. Definitely worth a stop if you are in Sterling.

If I could give negative stars I would, this place is so ridiculous. After driving 500 miles from iowa, to California, we stopped in this town for a bite to eat. This place looks promising because of the cars out front, but our food came out cold and under cooked, meaning raw. Once we asked the waitress to make us new food, and we specifically asked for New, she brought it back to the kitchen and we heard a microwave go off twice, and she brought it out to us within 4 minutes. After reviewing the food that she brought back there were fork marks in the mashed potatoes, and the same piece of fish that we had broken open and found it was raw. We asked her if she microwave the food and she tried to lie to us, so we just got up and walked out. Do not frequent this establishment.

I ate here three nights in a row while in town. Friendly service, nice variety, great salads. Order the berry chicken salad.

This place has good fish dishes, soups & salads. The decor is nice, the servers are friendly. The only downside is that it's not speedy. I won' t go there for lunch unless I've got at least an hour.

Philly cheesesteak was good. Lots of flavor and not too big. Sweet potato fries were nice and crisp. Wedge salad was a good value. Overall, the restaurant is a nice place to sit down and eat a quality meal. A little pricey, but it comes with good service and great food.

After exploring the entire (quaint) town, this was really the only functioning sit down restaurant. Service was way sub par, and our waitress took the signed check before we had finished eating. Food was okay, both my girl and I decided to eat Mexican and had Nachos to start, I had the burrito and she had the Fajitas. The food tasted pretty good, wayyy too much cheese, and I call myself the cheese boy. Really good looking place in this area, huge tv's all over all the walls, it was pretty awesome to see the Rockies on a 200" or so screen.

Good food, very friendly service. I enjoyed the wet burrito - just the right amount of spicy but not hot-spicy. Others in party enjoyed chicken strips, bacon cheeseburger, philly cheese steak, and grilled cheese. Everyone enjoyed his or her meal.

Really good food, but the entrees don't come with sides! You have to pay extra. Great ambiance, and the wait staff is very nice. Very clean

Thanks to yelp reviews we found ourselves here. The food was awesome though I should have listened to Tim and gotten the half portion. He wasn't kidding about the size of the pasta dish. The kids meals were varied and decently sized for 9 and 10 year olds. The pride the chefs took was obvious in the details. We'll be back for sure. Thanks!!

We ate there last night. The chicken quisadilla was excellent! The peach tea is not sweet, it is also very good. The husband had a spicy penne in Alfredo sauce. He said it was good. I don't do spicy. We did not get skimpy servings. Service was great. Food was hot and came quickly.

It's a chore to find quality food in this town. In fact, almost impossible. Other than the bistro and this spot, you'll likely want to wait till you get back on the road and hours away in Denver for something that makes the grade. Meanwhile, if you're hungry and gotta eat, this is one of the better choices. You'll find a nice setting, average price food and one notch better than typical fast food. Anything amazing is going to be out of reach. To make a familiar reference the food is about on par with Chilis, Applebees and Fridays. It's tough to tell if much of it is homemade or ordered frozen from a food distributor. To play it safe ordered a burger. We spent the meal trying to decide if it was fresh and hand padded and left without an answer. It sure didn't taste like it, but we could be wrong. And, a side salad filled with iceberg lettuce is disappointing, no matter where you are. It's simple: in this town, the food here makes the great and will seem outstanding compared to competitive options. In Denver, it'd struggle.

Great service. Seems like this place might be one of the only decent non-fast food places in town. The smothered burrito was massive and delicious!

I would say one of the BEST chicken fried steaks that I have ever had!! Great food and atmosphere. The only thing that I could say to critique is the service was slow and I think possibly our waitress was new... But overall, definitely a place to visit if you are in Sterling, CO.

We were weary travelers going through Sterling and the Best Western Sundowner recommended this place. First impression was Brenda at the hostess stand was so pleasant and accommodating. We sat outside and the patio was pristine, clean which is always a huge plus for us (shows how they keep they kitchen!) husband ordered pasta and I ordered a salad. Paige was our server and she had great energy.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
