First things first, I should not have to wear gloves in the inside of a restaurant. It is freezing in there. The wait staff is slooow. The food is mediocre, and for an place to be called an irish establishment, you would think they would have more than one irish Beer. I give them the . Go to Cale's down the way.

A full parking lot in an off-season is always a good sign. Had the Shepard's Pie and it warranted the OMG from the last review. Savory, cheesy, hearty....the kind of food that sticks to your ribs. The service was speedy (I couldn't believe how fast our food came out!) but a little salty.....not of the downright nasty kind, but more of the woke up on the wrong side of the bed variety. That being said, the food was good enough and well-priced enough for the mountains, that I am sure we will be back.

My boyfriend and I come here all the time to play poker. The service is always great and attentive, and the clientele is usually friendly and mellow. It's a nice change from the obnoxious tourist-laden bars in Breck. They've been in business since 1856, probably in that very building. The building comes with a lot of character. It's a nice, unassuming local bar. You have to try the bread pudding -- it's outta the world. Great, now I'm jonesing for some...!

Night bartender is a joke. He curses and won't be happy to help I didn't like this pla e at all

Food sucks, place is not clean, service is slow. Mostly local power drinkers that show up for happy hour. Had burger on 7/15/14, my burger arrived WARM you could tell it was cooked ahead of time and almost reheated. About a year ago I had their Fish & Chips it was just like what you get at Costco. I live in the area, 5 minutes walk, the location I like, no driving, I have been here more than once and I always say never again

I can't imagine why this restaurant gets bad reviews. I have been eating there almost weekly for several years. The service is always friendly, efficient and prompt, and the food is always excellent. Prices are also reasonable, and they frequently advertise specials in the local newspaper. Yes, the bar is a hangout for locals, but that just adds to the atmosphere.

One star for horseshoes in back yard. Save for that the cocktails are weak, Guiness WAY too cold, food is just bad. Server came to the table twice on her phone. SERIOUSLY!!

Four instead of five only because the chicken fried steak was only warm, frys were smoking hot. Service with a smile and very prompt. A bit loud. Grilled chicken wrap 5 stars.

If I could put a title on this review, it'd be "Beware the 2 for 1." This place puts an ad in the paper everyday with a 2 for 1 coupon on entrees from 5-7pm. The only other condition on the coupon was that you had to show it to your server before ordering. We'd never been there & the deal was good, so we tried it out one Sunday in July. As other reviewers have noted, the place turned out to be sort of a dive, but the waiter was friendly and the food (fish tacos and shepard's pie) were decent. When the bill came, it had the tip (18%) already added in to what the original price (without the free entree) would've been. I support that 100% - people tend to tip on the price shown & this 2 for 1 special would cut a server's tips in half. We even left a couple bucks extra; the service was fine. We were tired last night (7/30) & didn't feel like cooking, so we decided to take advantage of that 2 for 1 special again. Handed the coupon to the server, who immediately barked that in order to get the special, we had to buy two alcoholic drinks or an appetizer. She seemed pretty unhappy about us asking for the special. We should've left at that point, but instead, bought a couple of grilled chicken wraps. The cost of the two wraps ($8 each) was less than the cost of the more expensive entree that we'd planned to get ($18). Deliberately bought nothing to drink, not even a coke. The wraps were ok; fresh tortillas, at least. We'd asked for "chips" as the side. OMG, don't do that! They'd sliced up potatoes (potatoes with fungus in the middle) and attempted to fry them. Some of the slices were brown, some still white & greasy. The service this second time was fair. She refilled our water once, but we did have to chase her to get the check. In her defense, she did seem to be the only server in the place. Someone who might have been the manager was walking around, but he didn't appear to be doing anything. After re-reading my review, I changed the stars from 2 (meh) to 1 (don't go). They had a nice neighborhood bar vibe & if you're just looking for drinks at the bar, it might be fun. But since the food we had ranged from at best decent to downright gross, I can't really recommend it for food. And for sure don't fall for the 2 for 1 "special!"

We went here after reading recommendations on Yelp, in the hopes to find some great food that we don't have back home. Well once we entered, we noticed a smell that was more like someone washed the carpets and didn't clean it properly and left it wet. Later server took forever to take the order and even to bring some water, after it was asked. Long story short, we ordered burgers and fries. It looked great and tasted okay at first, but it was dripping of grease. It took us 5 hours to digest it and we were in cramps the entire time. I would not recommend it, unless you like the cramping and bad indigestion.

The service here was horrible! ! We stopped in for lunch, we only saw our waitress twice; once to take our order & to bring our drinks. Someone else brought our food & they dropped the food & left before I could even ask for ketchup! I also had an empty drink and no offer if we needed anything else. I finally had to go to the bar for ketchup & a new drink. Nothing from the bartender that he would send our waitress over. We finally had to flag another waitress down for our bill, note our waitress NEVER came back. The other point of interest is besides the bar crowd we were the only table in there, until we were almost done with our meal. So it is not like they had the sorry we were slammed excuse! We will never be back! The food was also nothing to write home about, tasted like it was reheated in the microwave.

If I could rate this place a "0" I would. Looked like a cute place from the outside - and had a great atmosphere. I'm always a sucker for a great Irish pub, so I was looking forward to a relaxing belly-up with the fam. First... the tables were all dirty and sticky. We picked a table that seats 8 (for a family of 4) as it was the least sticky... My husband ordered a soup and salad combo. The salad looked generic (and according to him, it totally was). I never understand why salad-in-a-bag is EVER served in a restaurant. Salads aren't difficult, people. And neither is homemade salad dressing. Yet, his was served with bottled dressing and stale boxed croutons. (Croutons are so easy to make from scratch, and you can't beat the flavor!) His soup was "supposed" to be chicken noodle. I don't know what he was served. It looked like canned soup (think Campbell's - and not the Chunky variety), but jiggled like Jell-O. I don't know about you, but jelloed soup isn't the least bit appetizing. My husband took about 5 bites and pushed it away. I wouldn't have taken one. He gave it a good ol' college try. My son ordered grilled cheese. (I was telling a friend about this later and her response was, "How do you mess up a grilled cheese?" THAT is an excellent question!!!) He took one bite and said, "I don't like it." It basically was Texas toast and Velveeta. Really? Velveeta? In a restaurant? Epic fail. Oh... by the way, my son is 5. FIVE! My daughter (two) ordered the spaghettio's. Yep, you guessed it. From a can. And they were cold. She took 3 bites and pushed it away, saying, "Don't like it!" 'Nuff said. I ordered the fish tacos. Eh. They were ok. But I have ordered better fish tacos from Applebee's. All this to say, save yourself the trip. If you want an awesome Irish pub atomsphere with excellent food (not from a can or a box), drive the extra 10 minutes and head over to the Cala Inn in Dillon. ( calainn.com ). The food is fresh and delicious. Our bill was about $40. I would have rather spent $20 at McDonalds. At least there they don't try to mask processed food. Note to the owner: First of all, it's bad form to give your own restaurant a 5-star review. Second, for the sake of your business, please hire a chef who can do your atmosphere justice and provide your patrons with freshly made Irish fare from scratch. Your business and your community will thank you. And for the love of all things Holy, please don't EVER serve processed cheese. Perhaps after a few pints this might be a pleasant taste, but I assure you, for the sober, this is just wrong-wrong-wrong.

I've been here several times and always thought it was an "A-Okay" place to stop and eat in Silverthorne. This last time I was there I ordered the Shepards Pie and OMG was it amazing. That alone has elevated my rating to 4-stars. It's seriously that good. This has been several weeks since we ate there and I'm still pissed that I left my leftover box on the table when we left :( . Don't expect fantastic service...it's a small old-school local joint. If you need more water don't be afraid to get your waitor/waitress attention to get it because they aren't likely to stop at your table everytime they walk by. That's okay though...food and beer make up for it. I'll definitely be back for some more Shepard Pie.

Went for lunch today, they had an ad in the paper for sirloin, baker, and salad. I guess they do this special on Fridays for a good price. I was early (11:15), and there were already locals there for the experience. Very funny waiter singing along with the classic rock music, good food and atmosphere. The rest of the menu looked really good also. I'm not sure, but maybe back in the late '80's or early '90's this was a different restaurant with a logo and sign that was similar to the Rossignol ski logo from that time (blue white and red). Was it a French place? Anyway there is still a concrete pig out front I think it has had it's paint removed. Does anyone remember what that was called? Was it any good?

We love Murphy's. Prices are right on par with the area and if you go in at the right time, they have cheap burgers at lunch and happy hour prices for drinks later on. The back patio is the perfect place to spend a summer afternoon playing horseshoes and socializing. For a traditional St. Patty's Day meal any day of the year, their corned beef and cabbage is to die for.

  • Nicole H.

Bad service. They don't like out of town folk. Also got very upset about splitting the bill and we even asked before ordering. The food was ok. It did come fast but the service didn't make the experience enjoyable.

    (1)
  • Matt J.

Food is good, and location is good....I would not say that this place is good for kids. The staff constantly frowned and circled the area outside where our kids were enjoying a beautiful afternoon. This place is better for happy hour with your buddies after work, not for families en route to a weekend mountain destination. Especially since the staff was enjoying their cigarettes out back where the kids were playing.

We really wanted to like Murphy's because it has a good "pub" atmosphere. But after 5 or 6 times we have given up on it. As others have noted, the prices are high (even by mountain town standards). They service has been consistently bad. They seem friendly enough, but usually only have one person at the bar and one waitress / waiter and just aren't very efficient.

    (1)
  • Karma K.

I liked the service. place has lots of tvs and the staff was friendly. all reviews have some truth, like there is no chef, place is always pack and the food is not gourmet but I ate my whole Sheppard pie (beef, not lamb)and I was treated good for my money. didn't have a beer but I'm planning to go back for more. my bill was $11w/ sprite.

  • Terry B.

I like Murphy's. Not only does it hold some sentimental value for me as it was introduced to us by a dear friend, but they've also got some really good food. It's an Irish pub that might have a bit more light than you're used to for an Irish pub, but all the food items you'd expect from an Irish pub. We've stopped in a number of times since being introduced to the place and the service has always been solid and speedy. The food is pretty darn good, and some of the dishes are great values. I've had the fish and chips, (along with a Guiness) the fish and chips, (along with a Guiness) the Shephard's Pie, (along with a Guiness) and a Reuben sandwhich. (along with a water?) Anyway, the Shephard's Pie here is awesome. The fish and chips are mediocre. The Reuben was really good and huge! Some have said the prices are high, but I disagree. You're in the mountains, and the prices aren't horribly expensive for what you get. I'd say, expect similar prices to similar bars in Denver and that's what you'll get quantity-wise.

What a hometown local place u can always count on locals to be here and tues nights are the best!

  • Kate G.

I agree with the other review that this place is overpriced. Granted, it's in the mountains, but it's sort of off the beaten path and probably doesn't attract a big apres crowd. I also came in after seeing an ad in the paper for their $4.95 burger special. The waitress was not thrilled when I asked about it, and had to go find a paper so she could "confirm". She emphasized it would come plain, and when I asked for cheese she let me know it would cost more. I didn't see the tab so who knows what she charged for my special slice of cheddar, but I did hear the total: $48 for my burger, a small corned beef sandwich and a reuben, plus a Coors and two pints of Guinness. For a late lunch in an empty bar/pub in Silverthorne, it seemed a little steep. I think we actually would have gotten a better deal on the mountain and also would have been around a more fun crowd.

  • Angela R.

Murphy's is an absolute must anytime you are driving through the mountains. Their food is always consistently good and very reasonably priced, the staff is always super friendly, and there's always sports and great music on in the background. Also, they have a great outdoor area where you can play horseshoes. I truly believe they have the best corned beef in Colorado! I would absolutely recommend stopping in anytime you can and give it a try....then you'll be hooked!

  • James R.

Avoid the 2-4-1 coupon offer, it's not even worth it then. Our experience today: Steak ordered Medium came Well (so Well it was Grey) so I watched my wife eat her dinner, replacement steak was full of gristle & only 1/2 edible; my wife watched me try to enjoy. Waitress had way too many tables = little/no attention. One would think the management would care about our flawed dining experience, apparently not; maybe a comped beer, No, but they added a mandatory 18% tip? Recommend you go to Pug Ryan's or the Arapohoe Grill instead.

Was in the mountains a few days ago catching up on my favorite winter past time. Stopped in Murphy's, one because they weren't a chain and their parking lot wasn't full. The food was delish and went well with the beer. We had a terrific fish and chip and corned beef and cabbage. My only complaint, the corned beef and cabbage didn't come with steamed potatoes but mashed. They were OK but steamed would have been great. Next time I up for the ski thing, I will surely stop again.

GIRLS WEEKEND! We were hungry and decided to give this cute little pub a shot... Well, the service was friendly and good, the food was great and the beer was delish! We felt we picked the best place for us "mommies on a break"

Great Shepherd's pie, locals hangout, good fish and chips, not cheap but consistently good.

Service was OK. Didn't know if the bartender had us or the server. Seemed a little understaffed. The food was good, but fourteen bucks for bangers and mash, and thirteen bucks for Irish stew in a bread bowl is a little high. What made the night the worst, I overheard the waitress tell the table behind me of the weekly specials including tonights BOGO on dinners. I was hoping we scored a new dinner special, but there wasn't a discount on our bill. I didn't say anything as I had overheard this. Afterwords I checked for an ad in the paper, and sure enough it was in there. It did say you must present the coupon. So I can only be mad at myself for not reading the paper before going. On the other hand, theres plenty of places in Summit County that proudly display their specials, and I will be going to those places. I gave them two stars as I dont want to be petty about the coupon, but really wanted to give only 1. Remember to read the paper for specials before going in as they might not tell you all of them!
