I'm a fan of Monica's. Stopped here with four hungry teenage boys while passing through Pueblo and we were all pleased with the choice. Why? 1. Value. The prices were low enough my boys thought the burritos must be small so I let them order two each. HUGE mistake. A single burrito was enough to fill their hungry appetites. Great value. 2. The simple bean and cheese burrito alone was worth the trip. The beans were outstanding and the amount of cheese generous. The searing on the outside of the tortilla was flavorful. Of all the burritos we ordered, this one was our favorite. Everyone wished they had ordered one. By way of some warning, we had read one review that the smothered green chili was good, but that the spicy version wasn't very spicy. We ordered the spicy and while we're used to spicy food, our lips and throats burned for quite a while after eating and the spice really overpowered the burrito. These burritos are delicious enough they don't really need much in the way of salsa or chili sauce and I definitely wouldn't get spicy unless you are ready for a bit of heat. We'd definitely go back if we were in the area for more burritos!

I'm not afraid to say I came back again to try the breakfast burritos. It was one of the best decisions I've made. 2 burritos for under $8. So very good. The chorizo was so flavorful. Best weekend breakfast!

We stopped here for breakfast because we were on a road trip and it is close to the highway and opens early. Though we didn't have any serious complaints, the food was just average and lacked salt.

I was so looking forward to sinking my teeth into a couple of delicious fish tacos this afternoon. The last time I had fish tacos from Monica 's Taco Shop (which was last week), they we're great! Plump, juicy fish-fried perfectly; a squeeze of fresh lime juice, the crema sauce paired with their tomatillo salsa- it was amazing! But today was very different. Today's tacos we're bad. The fish was overcooked, very thin and hard; there was just no meat on it at all. The crema was completely absent which made the entire thing so hard to eat from the dryness. I was so disappointed today with their food that I wanted to cry. But that is the one consistent thing I've noticed about this place, is their inconsistency. Anytime I talk with anyone regarding their thoughts on this place, I hear good and bad things. One item one day will be amazing and then the same item the very next day will be horrible. Their service isn't that great either, which I didn't terribly mind before only because the food was worth it. But not today. Their rudness and slowness coupled with the bad food made todat's experience bad enough and worth writing this review. Since they don't have a website that you can communicate with them through, I needed to get this out somehow and hopefully they will get it and fix their deffeciencies because this could be a great little Mexican restaraunt... They just need to be a little more curtious and appreciative of their customers and provide a more consistant menu.

Cheap and you get what you pay for. Slightly better than Taco Bell. Everything is bland. Was very surprised after reading the positive yelp reviews at how bad it was. Also the 'vegetarian' burrito had rice made with lard, not a big deal because we aren't vegetarian but be warned

One thing I liked is they are pretty much right off highway 50. Which for us is on the way home. They have a fair amount of booths to sit at. Though there was only one that was decent enough to eat at. The others still had food that looked like been there for 20 minutes or so. I ordered the Special 2, which was beef and bean burrito smothered in spicy green chili as well as a ground beef tostada. Husband ordered Special 1 which was 5 chicken taquitos. We decided on the chili cheese fries mild. Yep, we were hungry. Chili cheese fries tasted like ordinary cheese fries but with green chili. My "spicy" burrito had no spice. I could have added 2 habaneros and it might have given me the spice I was hoping for. The taquitos were good, though the guacamole was a little soupy. If we're in the area, I'll go again with a yes recommendation. But to try something else.

Excellent food, excellent price, excellent service. Just moved to Pueblo and this small restaurant was just across the street so we checked it out online first and it had great reviews. Met the owner and had a wonderful meal at a VERY reasonable price. This is one for your list of to-dos.

I ordered the chicken enchilada plate with rice & beans. Except for the chicken (was a bit dry), I loved the meal. I'll go again when in area. Lunch-time service was a bit slow, but not horrible.

Was introduced to this place a few months ago and so far I love it! I mainly get the breakfast burritos and they are always delicious The atmosphere reminds me of the place in used to go to all the time in southern CA so it's like eating at home again. And it's right down the street from me which is the best part :) Will be back soon!!

Food was good! I got a carne asada burrito and my husband got the California burrito. Both were tasty and large. The guys working were very nice and helpful with the menu. They had our order ready to go in 5 minutes and offered us salsas and jalapenos free of charge! We will definitely be back!

What an amazing little place!! The bacon potato egg and cheese breakfast burrito is my favorite. The carne asada burrito and tacos are great a well. Why go to little Caesars or McDonalds when you can have 100% fresh food made to order? I love the fact that whenever I go in there, you can see the cook pealing a huge bag of potatoes or chopping fresh cilantro. You know where your food is coming from which is something that is few an far between these days!

Its hard not to order a breakfast burrito here because they are sooooo good! If you are not thinking a breakfast burrito, the bean and cheese would be the next best. The tortillas are huge and buttery and lightly flakey. As soon as you take a bite of one of these burritos you will understand that this is one of the best little mexican shops in Pueblo. Next would be the Tacos, and yes these are of course delicious. Not number 1 on my list of what to order here, but the shells are a fried flour with whatever you want inside. The only thing Im not a fan of here would have to be the carne asada. Its sort of chewy . . . just not my style. Of all the places in town you can get Horchata, Monica's takes the crown for me. Service? Fast, and definatly friendly. Mom and Pop shop feel Atmospehere? just ok, but its a taco shop you shouldn't expect much Cleanliness? honestly just ok again, but enough to know the food is safe Price? a homeless man could make it work So get over here, its awesome.

The bean and cheese burritos are sooo good. The shredded beef tacos are deep fried and delicious. They're rice is very tasty. The breakfast burritos are awesome (and served all day), my favorite is the bacon, potato, egg, and cheese. These are my favorites on the menu and they keep me coming back for more. Oh! and don't forget the red hot sauce, it is amazing! The atmosphere is nothing special but the staff is friendly and the service is fast.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
