Just awesome sandwiches. Great bread too. Meatball, roast beef, and philly cheese are excellent. Love this place

Wowza! Recently went to actual city of Philadelphia and had a hoagie, and it was amazing. I was bummed that we don't have bogies in Denver. ...Wait! Yes! We do! Here! At tommy's! The Italian is a hoagie. So fricken good. I don't think it's humanly possible to get the crunchy on the outside bread like in Pa, but, it's close. Like. Super close. The oil stuff they put on the lettuce. And the pepper things. Heaven! Yup. So good! I will be back!

Love Tommy's! Best subs around... it's an every weekend tradition for us. Highly reccomend anything on the menu. Philly is awesome as is meatball... my fav is the classic italian. Get the peppers! Grrat bread, wonderful people.

Tommy's is a great find, especially with the lack of places to eat within a few miles radius. While the menu is pretty short and sweet, I appreciate the fact that Tommy's doesn't try to over complicate my choices. I can usually get a med/large sub, drink and chip for around $10. Big plus! They just switched to Coke products!

This place kills it every time. The sandwiches are the best around. The staff are always so nice. Get here before noon and it's a short wait to a heavenly sandwich. I would say the Italian has my vote but every one I've tried has not disappointed. #CustomerForLife

Best sub shop around. The the Italian sub is incredible. My only complaint is that they are closed on Mondays.

I've been coming to Tommy's for 15 years. Never once have I had a bad sub. Everything on the menus is so good there has to be a law against it. The owners are very special people and always have a smile when you come in. They even remember your "usual"! Everything is fresh and made daily. The pepper relish is not hot but incredably delish! The place is always crystal clean. They move people thru the line like lightning. And dog friendly.....like anyone else that owns a Golden. I finally wrote this review due to this guy's negative review. I never get ugly with anyone on the web.....it can be such a ugly place. However....Ben C. your review demonstrates that you (like your scuba profile picture) are under water and all wet with your comments unfortunately. Seems you have some anger managment issues. Please consult a shrink ASAP before you write anything on the web again. Just looking out for ya. :-D

Where do you start? Coming from the east coast, land of the deli, and since 2001, always hunting for a great sandwich, I feel lucky to have found Tommy's subs. Today is Wednesday and I called in sick to work. I usually have Monday's and Sunday's off which is unfortunate because Tommy's is closed those days so I have zero access. Sitting on the couch at 1:30 hungry and uninspired it dawned on me I could get a Tommy's sub. It literally made my day and like a child I ran out the door and hopped in the car and soon enough was in sandwich heaven. I have only ever had the Italian but can imagine from the loyal crowd that everything they offer is just as great. No matter who makes the sandwich the product is always consistent. I would recommend this joint to anyone and it is certainly worth going out of the way to stop by. Enjoy and thank you Tommy's for doing it and doing it well.

Grabbed these philly subs on the way to a show at Red Rocks. Convenient location, decent prices, and soliid service. No plastic, though, so be sure to bring cash.

  • Peylin F.

Great place to hit up after a hike at nearby Red Rocks. Great customer service and a pretty simple menu to boot. They do a good job of loading up their subs. I like how you can sit in their 'bar' area. You can watch them making the sandwiches. I was also very much impressed with their toasty buns.

  • Chris B.

An absolute staple here on the west side. Aside from great service and sweet music memorabilia the food stands apart from anything on this side of town. I go for the Italian with peppers, but I can honestly say I've had everything and they're all great. A person who doesn't like Tommy's can not be trusted.

  • Mark M.

I think they put crack in the sandwiches here, I simply cannot get enough. The blend of peppers that they use is amazing, the meats are always great, and the bread tops it off. Every sandwich is great, you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu.

  • Nate C.

The place was clean. The staff was friendly. The food was quick and fresh. It's a little pricey for me though; The sub alone was $10. It was good, just not good enough to make me pay that much again for just a sandwich.

  • Gary H.

I have been eating here sense 1997. Threw 3 different owners and I consider Tommys one of the best places to eat in Colorado! YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER SUB PERIOD!

    (5)
  • Kevin S.

Great sandwiches start with great bread, and Tommy's has the best bread in town. Then the great people run the sub through a toaster conveyer to give a little crisp to the crust and melt the cheese while keeping the bread soft and tender in the middle. A family owned place that really gets it! Caution, though-this place will become habit forming!

I don't know if I would say they have best subs in the U.S.. I will say that that was a damn good Philly Cheesesteak. I came here based on reviews that I tag on yelp, and this place didn't disappoint. I ordered the suggested sandwich, Philly, had it customized to my tastes, and never looked back. I sat at the bar and had the opportunity to watch the grill in action. As a chef, that's one of the things I enjoy, watching my food be prepared. The young lady was teaching a new guy the ins and outs of the flattop. I was impressed with her knowledge, and the patient way she was transferring it. You could tell these were people who loved what they do. The kitchie-cool ambiance of the place was nicely supported in s variety of art on the walls. I would definitely suggest this place to anyone out in this part of the world. Who knows,I might come back before I leave from vacation.

Tommy's not only has the best food/sandwiches but it needs to be noted: Always consistant in food, atmosphere, friendly owners/staff! They know most of us (regulars Many of us) by name! Just a pleasure to enjoy the food at the location! "Special" Peppers On EVERYTHING!!

  • Isa B.

The hype made me go and the 8-inch was way too big for me. Delicious in every bite. I ordered the four cheese sub and under that rainy day, this succulent lunch served its purpose and made me a fan. I liked the people, and it was packed with locals whom I'm sure go often. To quote the Terminator, I will be back.

  • Rob T.

Tommy's is a "Morrison" institution. They have great subs, be it cold or hot. The French Dip is really good as is the Philly (it's not a typical philly). I always stop by on my way to a Red Rocks show and get a cold sammy with pepper relish to take to the show. I recommend bringing any out of town guests by for a sub on the way to Red Rocks. Be aware that it is a small place, so there is not a lot of tables for eat in.

  • Ben C.

I am done with this place. I have been going here for years because it is close to where I live and the bread they use is awesome. My past couple of visits have been disappointing. They charged me a service fee for requesting some stuff NOT be put on my sub (they call it a high maintenance charge). The service fee gets added in without being told, it's on the menu though and I watched her ring it up. Today we requested no onions and mushrooms, I get home to eat and find onions cooked into the cheese steak. So I called to inform them, the lady owner said it was our fault. I had two witnesses that heard me say no onions. The owners all seem very smug. There is not much meat on the sub either, mostly bread. Anyways I am done.

    (1)
  • Tomi R.

Gotta love tommy's. Pennsylvanians know how to make subs. It just needs to be open better hours. "Hardly ever open" just makes it really difficult to enjoy this place more often!

    (5)
  • Scott S.

One of the best sandwich shops in Colorado, definitely the best in the Denver Metro. The owners and staff are very friendly and eager to please. The Cheesesteak is unbelievable with fresh onions and peppers. The Italian is best when you ask for "High Maintenance" (they load up the sand which with everything). I've been there a couple different times in the last few weeks and I have had a great experience every time.

  • Arthur E.

Great little sub shop. If your like me and thrive on those little mom and pop stands, hole in the wall, unique places, then this is a place for you. Just a great local sub shop with amazing food and friendly staff. We like to go here when we are looking for something different. It might be the same in the sense that it is a sub shop, but the sandwiches speak differently. Their Philly cheese steak is bomb. Overall great little sub shop in the Morrison area right off c470

    (5)
  • Tryna R.

It was delicious and a perfect gluten indulgence. I tried the loaded club. Toasted meat to topping ratio heaven. It was busy and they were fast and even called regular customers by name. Loved it and will be back

    (4)
  • Graham K.

I have been going here since the original owners had it and the Italian sub is the best sub ever anywhere. The philly steaks are good too, but I don't get in here often enough anymore to get anything but the Italian - which is a super good sandwich. Don't change a thing. Not sure about the attitude people occasionally mention, but I get nothing but good vibes here.

    (5)
  • Jennifer E.

Tommy's subs is great, love that its locally owned and you get to see everything prepared right in front of you. I'm not a huge fan of bread in general and the sandwiches can have a little too much of it in my opinion. Otherwise I love eating there.

    (4)
  • Jakob L.

this is the only negative review ive ever written on yelp. But i got home looked at the cheese steak the blonde lady their had made, and decided to voice my opinion. Kinda of a lame place. Total posers in this joint, don't be fooled! They have decor like their local, or small. And care about tasty food, not in my experiences. They only care about money here I guess because they really don't put any love, or pride in their food. My Philly cheese steak Barely had any thing in it. A huge bun with a little bit of meat in it. I've been in here several times and they're never "really" friendly, but more of a "I hate my job but cant say that." attitude. Also the two middle aged chicks who work their always have a really crappy look on their face. Oh and they take off weird days. But their sandwiches aren't bad, their just average. Overall about as good a subway, except more expensive, less consistent, oh and not as many options.

  • Azar S.

The best Subs In town and great "secret" sauce as they like to call it. Make sure you call in advance as their hours can be tricky at times and certain days. I frequently eat here as I live in the neighborhood across the street. The staff likes to joke so don't take offense and good luck enjoying your meal!

    (5)
  • Eduard R.

I'm a cheese steak snob from who has eaten best cheesesteaks in my travel all over USA. Their cheesesteaks are AMAZING. they are just like the ones I have eaten in Jersey and NYC!! The staff is super friendly

    (5)
  • Bob S.

Great sandwiches. Love French dip and there Philly. Been going several years and always unbelievable and great people working

    (5)
  • J H.

Tommy's used to be a lot better before the two original owner's left. The philly cheese steak is probably your best bet. The regular sandwiches are mostly bread, with little meat. The last two times I've gone there they really skimped on the meat. It's a fairly good sub sandwich but definitely a little over-priced. I would recommend Which Wich over this place.

    (3)
  • Sarah K.

Fantastic subs! The sandwich is toasted which adds a great little crunch to the bread. Their ingredients are fresh and their menu is simple. I think what I really made the sub unique were the special peppers. So good! Even though they were slammed, the lady taking our order didn't rush us or anything when we took longer to order. Prices were very reasonable and I would much rather go here than a Subway/Quiznos etc. Only wished I lived closer!

    (5)
  • Taylor S.

To die for! I don't know what they put in their special peppers, but it makes the sandwich! You can't beat the price, that's for sure.

    (5)
  • Mick J.

LITERALLY the best sub in Colorado. Possibly the U.S. No Joke. Their turkey Cosmo is just amazing. No words can describe how much I love this place. You absolutely have to try tommys if you live in Colorado.

    (5)
  • Adam C.

Good subs however they are over priced for the portions that you receive.

    (3)
  • Brian H.

Great Philly Steak but they use Styrofoam for to-go orders which sucks for the environment. The second time I asked to just get the sandwich wrapped in aluminum and they said the sub would be soggy but it wasn't. Will be back another time.

    (3)
  • Angela R.

Tommys is the best sub place in this area, it's always a little busy buts because it's so good. The peppers they have make the subs. I could seriously eat here everyday!!

    (5)
  • Joe Y.

Located right off of C470 and 285. I stopped in before a Red Rocks event and ordered the footlong Italian for $9. It was ok so I will probably try the famous Philly cheesesteak next time.

    (3)
  • Sara B.

If I could marry a sub sand which it would be one of Tommy's Sub's! So freaking delish that I can hardly stand it!!! I've been going there for 10+ years with 2 different owners and I pray it never closes! In fact it needs to be bigger because it's always busy when I go there and the parking sucks!!!

    (5)
  • Lawrence B.

Customer service has improved. Sandwich is stil the best sub around.

    (3)
  • Brian K.

The Philly cheese steak with peppers is 2nd to none. This is the best place for a sandwich that I have been to. If your ever in the area check it out.

    (5)
  • Richard M.

My favorite place for subs. The kids that work there are amazing also.

    (5)
  • Shawn S.

The place looks a little sketchy from the outside but it's great stuff. Friendly and fast customer service and the food was great. Love that the have an almost diner setup with counter stools! Well worth a stop!

    (4)
  • Lee M.

Terrific local sub shop. More expensive than a chain? Maybe, but it's worth it. Turkey Cosmo was excellent.

    (5)
  • Tara L.

Awesome sandwich spot. In a lame little shopping center but don't let that fool you. Food is awesome and service is great. I love the roast beef sandwich.

    (5)
  • Doug M.

Really enjoy this place great food. Don't be afraid address is Morrison but you don't have to go into town and run the risk of getting a ticket from the Morrison pd. Like I said like this place a lot Italian sub is awesome love their gardinair(sp) place is a little small don't expect to sit down. Maybe a good lunch stop on way to mountains or f you live in the area. If I did is prob be there couple times a week. Looking forward to taking wife to Tommy's

    (4)
  • D. B.

Delicious! Great subs at great prices!

    (5)
  • Rocky T.

Good food at a fair price. Very friendly staff. Limited menu, But what they do have they do good. Best bread around! Great cream,& orange soda!

    (4)
  • Jared S.

Great sandwiches. Unfortunately they start closing before their stated closing time so that if you drive down from Boulder specifically to go here and get in the door right at 7 they turn you away. Great food. Not so great people.

    (3)
  • Dave R.

Great Roast Beef sub, complete with horseradish and cheddar.. The only beef (not to be punny) is that they can't serve it rare due to the Jeffco Regs......it needed to be flash fried defeating the whole rare RB thing...how's a guy supposed to keep his cholesterol up?

    (4)
  • Michael M.

This is my favorite place in the Denver area for a cheese steak sandwich (eating here for years). Just a small shop in a strip mall, run by a family, nothing fancy at all. Everyone I bring here always loves the cheese steaks too. I have only eaten the cheese steaks but the other sandwiches also look good. If you are in the area I do not think you will be disappointed.

    (5)
  • Betsy H.

Great sandwiches, quality ingredients and friendly family service. We love picking up the tuna sandwiches from Tommy's. so awesome with their special peppers!!

    (5)
  • Robert L.

The best cheesteaks! In fact every sub on the menu rocks! Awesome employees and owners!

    (5)
  • R P.

The subs are delicious. My favorite is the roast beef with horsey sauce and add a side of au jus. This is our go to sandwich shop in this area. The staff are friendly and the service is quick even at busy times.

    (5)
  • Brent M.

First time at Tommy's, Roast beef sub was pretty darn good. I'll be back to try some more. Subs seem to be a couple bucks higher than most places, but are worth it, in my opinion.

    (4)
  • Amber A.

YUM YUM YUM!!!!!! If you want a great sandwich come here! They put their special peppers on them and that makes the sandwich!! GOT TO TRY THEM!!!! YUM

    (5)
  • Baxter L.

Best sandwiches in the Morrison / Littleton / Ken Caryl area - hands down! Every person working at Tommys is always friendly and nice. We always call in our order about 10-15 minutes ahead and it's ready and very convenient. Weekends they sometimes have tri tip sandwiches. All the ingredients are fresh and delicious, but it's the bread and peppers that make these sandwiches special. Thanks Tommys for making delicious sandwiches in this part of town!

    (5)
  • Mandy R.

Tommy's is definitely in the running for one of the best sub shops in Denver! I work close by, so I head over at least once a month for lunch. The meatball sub is ah-mazing, and the italian is one of my favorites! Regardless of what you order, it's the special pepper blend that makes everything so good! I highly recommend it on all of the subs! Their bread is perfect (not too much , not too little, and just the right crust), which really makes for the great sub bases. I especially love that this is a local business! My only suggestion? Teaming up with a local bakery and offering yummy cookies and brownies instead of the pre-packaged and Twinkie-like "Tasty Cakes" that they currently offer. Bottom line: If you're in the neighborhood, don't miss this place! They're not open late, so go for lunch!

    (4)
  • Ed B.

Always worth stopping here when close. Someday I'll try something besides the club sandwich.

    (5)
  • Mr. T.

I'd give them 4 stars, but the blonde gal always give me weird attitude when I go in there. I have been going into this place since Tommy and susan opened it up back in the 90's. While i dislike the attitude, they still make a mean set of sandwiches. They'd get 4/5 if it weren't for the attitude.

    (2)
  • Brady E.

Had their new Beef & Cheddar with the horseradish & high maintenance (fresh onions & mushrooms). Go try it!

    (5)
  • Kate Y.

    Best sammy in CO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    (5)
  • Chris A.

Great food! It looks a little "iffy" from the outside, but give it a try. You will not be disappointed (unless your taste buds are dead). The staff is very friendly, and efficient. Great prices, and a great experience every time!

    (5)
  • J A.

Great sandwich joint. The Italian loaded with peppers is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. It's just a perfect blend and ratio of meats to cheese to veggies to bread. Ohhh and the bread! Heavenly. I always get my Italian warmed up so the mayo and oil melts into the bread, then there's the cool contrast of the crisp, cold veggies. Perfection. Best sub shop in Denver easily. Sorry, but I'm not a fan of their Philly. But when it comes to an Italian sub...Tommy's definitely deserves a sold five star hit.

    (5)
  • Ric Y.

I've been eating at Tommy's since I was a kid. I've seen it go through 3 owners; starting with Tommy himself. Even though it's had several owners the quality has stayed the same. It's fantastic, maybe even better now than in the past I love the meatball, but sometimes I just need a cheese steak. Sometimes I get 6 inches of both. My only complaint is that the grilled bread in the meatball sometimes cuts the corners of my mouth. It's great food, and I love to support local businesses.

    (4)
  • Greg E.

This place is awesome! I feel bad that the only thing I have ever had is the cheesesteak, but this speaks volumes to how good it is. I travel quite a bit, and Tommy's is by far the best I have had (including Philly)! My wife has had some of the cold subs and says they are equally good. Great place for a good sandwich and supporting local business.

    (5)
  • Randy B.

I'm glad I live close enough to walk here. The service is friendly and the food is worth the usual short wait even when busy.

    (5)
  • Kari N.

Tommy's Subs has awesome subs. My sixteen year old son has been raving about this place for months, and I can definitely see how it would appeal to the high school boy crowd: big subs that are cheap, decorated with posters of Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, etc. But it's appeal extends to those sixteen year old's mothers, as well. My turkey sub was made with nice fresh veggies, and a tasty special sauce. Located in a very humble strip mall - Tommy's very laid back and not fussy or pretentious. The menu is simple: they offer subs here. No salad, no soup.

    (5)
  • Tim T.

I am big fan. I have never had a bad sandwich at Tommy's. Love that the owners work the counter.

    (4)
  • David W.

Absolute best subs in town. Love the Italian sub with "hots". Closes early though so go for lunch.

    (5)
  • William P.

Nowhere tops Tommy's for a sub. I had the "double commie," on a recommendation from a friend. She had the club. That was years ago. I now live a world away and still come back whenever I can. Their peppers mix is to die for. I get mine mixed in and extra on the side.

    (5)
  • Adam B.

First time here, won't be the last! Philly Cheese Steak is awesome!

    (5)
  • Mickey R.

Best sandwiches ever! Roast beef is my favorite but the Italian and the Philly are also awesome!

    (5)
  • James B.

Small little sub shop with big flavors. Great Philly. Great Meatball. Great Tuna. Add peppers to just about anything, very tasty.

    (5)
  • Patricia K.

OMG, yummmmm.... After you have one of these delicious subs, I promise, you will never venture into any other subway shoppe again. Never. The bread is awesome, meat is fresh, and the sauce is killer! Seriously. Hoss brought me one of these for lunch, and I am in love!! With the sandwich!! (Well, Hoss too, but that's a different story!)

    (5)
  • BigMikeEatsDenver ..

If I were to open a sub shop I would steal everything about this place!!

    (5)
  • Brittany G.

Every now and again I just crave a sammich. You will find me loading one up "BG" style, aka with lots of condiments and fixings. I like a lot of Flavor Town in between my bread slices. Tommy's is located in a little strip mall, right next to a liquor store, but dont let the appearance fool you; they really pump out some quality sandwiches. They even make their own rolls, which is impressive, and they are the perfect bite of crusty, chewy and soft......mouth is watering. I ordered the Roast Beef and Cheddar, and you better believe I requested that it came "loaded" with cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, oil, & special peppers. More importantly, I seem to have had a few bad run-ins with roast beef at other establishments, but I left my worries at the door at Tommy's. It was tender, thinly sliced and not-from-last-month's delivery. Everything about the visit was on point; the ingredients were fresh, the flavors really melded together well, and we didn't have to wait long for our food. I will say that space is limited in this venue, and it got crowded quickly during the 20 minutes I spent there. Regardless, our sandwiches didn't last long and we didn't end up taking any leftovers home - that should tell you something! Give this place a try, it's worth it!

    (4)
  • A R.

The grill is hot and the hogi is full of great fillers at Tommy's. I love places that give creative names to their extra toppings. Make sure you ask for your cheese steak "loaded". Give Tommy's a go!

    (3)
  • Jason W.

Nothing fancy. Just a good little sub shop like you may find back east.

    (5)
  • Adam D.

best meatball sub in town, and the french dip is amazing.

    (5)
  • Geoff L.

This is a great little local sub shop. I found this place after a stop at the home depot nearby and have been back several times. Great food and great people behind the counter. They seem to have a large repeat customer base with people of all ages. Give them a try I think you will like the whole experience. I like sitting at the counter.

  • debbie s.

What has happened to Tommy's? We started going to Tommy's in 1995 and have been through all the owners. On our last visit they lost our order, we waited 1 hour then to our disappointment the cheese steaks were completely tasteless and the owner was rude and could care less. We won't be going back and I won't be recommending to friends as in the past.

    (1)
  • Jennifer F.

We have been goint to Tommy's since Tommy and Susan owned the place in the 90's. What I love about it is that even though the ownership changed, the food did not. The loaded Philly is absolutely delicious, especially the 'special peppers'. The service is friendly and the restaurant is very clean. We love Tommy's and will keep coming back.

  • matt w.

I had always seen this place, but had never stopped in until today. The staff was awesome - they were truly excited about the excellent food they were about to serve me. They explained their menu to me as if they were describing their favorite piece of art. Overall - a great vibe to this local/independent joint. AND - an excellent sandwich.
