I've been a Tokyo Joes fanatic for years. When I moved to Chicago, it was one of the things I missed most about Colorado. The food is fast and delicious. The food doesn't weight down on my stomach -- instead it's energizing and filling. For the price and location, I think it's a fabulous meal and I'll always be a Joe's enthusiast. For this location specifically, it's my usual spot. They are quick, great service and always take care of me. I can order over the phone and they have it ready sooner than estimated -- love that. Yum.

So sorry, I absolutely disagree with these other not so good reviews. This Tokyo Joe's has been a life saver for our family here in Highlands Ranch. We've been here over 15 years...before they showed up, but hey, they deserve kudos for being one of the first fast, but not icky food places here, that kids even like. The bowls are great. You can modify them how you want (eg. rice, noodles, etc.) and even add steamed vegetables to any of them (great healthy option here). Are you kidding me? If you are looking for a fancy, sit down authentic Japanese restaurant, this place is obviously not it. This restaurant is here for it's own purpose--great, tasty, healthy options, quick food in a fun, casual environment where your kids can be kids while your whole family enjoys the food. Check it out for yourself!

I like this place!! Tokyo Joe's is a great place to get good, healthy food at a great price. I've been a fan of Tokyo Joe's for many years now and I have yet to have had bad customer service or sub-par food. This is one of my go-to places for a quick and healthy meal.

I've been in CO for going on 2 years now and have not visited Tokyo Joes before. I am so glad that I did and that there's one near my office! I loved the atmosphere there when I walked in and like how you can choose your ingredients if you get a bowl. Very healthy! I picked brown rice, white meat chicken, and 5 veggies - it was quite delicious! The chicken was a tad dry but otherwise good. Take out service was right quick as well and friendly. I'll be returning for lunch!

Tokyo Joe's has good food, but the service is terrible. Find another one to go to...

Since moving to Colorado, I was pleased to discover a number of "healthier" fast-casual dining options. So as a big fan of Asian and fusion cuisine, today I tried Tokyo Joe's with moderate to high expectations. We visited during lunch, and parking was scarce- usually a good sign. When we entered, the layout was a bit confusing, so we walked around the seating wall to get in line. The menu looked promising: fresh-made sushi, bowls and salads, even bottle beer and a variety of teas (more on that later) and sodas. We both ordered their new, heavy-marketed Bento Box lunch, which included a small side of edamame, a 4pc CA roll, a chicken breast and choice of rice. I ordered that meal and a cup of hot green tea and some water, and my guest ordered a spicy tuna roll and Pepsi as well. Well, the meal took over 10 minutes to arrive, as we watched other guests who came in after us getting their meals first. We received the bento boxes, and we had to ask the runner about the sushi. She stated the sushi came out separately. We waited approx. 10 more minutes for the sushi roll. While we waited, we had time to sample the bento box offerings. I didn't care for the taste of the chicken or the roll (the crab had a very blended consistency and the roll overall was just meh), my guest disliked both the chicken and the rice (funny flavor). We were both fairly disappointed and tried not to pin all our hopes of salvaging this lunch on the sushi roll. Once it arrived, I learned that it is a seared piece of tuna with spicy seasoning (my guest knew from the menu, I hadn't looked at it). To be fair: that sushi roll was not exactly the spicy tuna we all know, but it had a good flavor and was a decent roll for a moderate sushi craving. The dining room was loud and had a moderate number of loud kids, that didn't help the ambience. The layout was a bit dark and unappealing. Oh, and that hot green tea I ordered? Never saw it. I'll pass on Tokyo Joe's next time and wait longer at a bona fide sushi/hibachi joint (like Fujiyama, less than 1 mile from Tokyo Joe's)!!

Always consistent and tasty. The service some times leaves something to be desired. Overall I like Joes in a punch for a quick, semi-heathy, tasty lunch.

I've been going to this location for 10 years thrilled that I could find healthy food. I've noticed in the last year that there are less veggies, more rice and much less meat. Sorry Tokyo Joe's but you just lost a loyal customer.

Tokyo joes is ok but nothing great. Their business model is pretty much the same as a qdoba or chipotle but with Asian food. The food lacks that authenticity that you'll find at smaller restaurants and you'll be paying $10+ anyways. I've tried multiple menu items there and have never been enthused to return. Plus after ordering ahead with their app I still get the stink eye from other customers and employees for voiding the line.

Good lunch place, the choices are wide here. They offer everything from chicken to salmon. Sushi for those who want a piece or two as well, good value for a quality product. They could use a larger cup for drinks.

My wife and I visited Tokyo Joes (9131 S. Broadway, Highlands Ranch) on Sunday January 20th, and were extremely disappointed with the value for the money aspect. Tokyo Joe's creates the illuison of a big bowl meal by filling the bowl with rice and only a few meager small chunks of chicken and vegetables that you can hardly find. Insult to injuty? - they charge an extra $1.30 for the small amount of vegetables that would barely feed a baby. Tokyo Joe's is one of the worst values for the money in the quick food industry. As much as I hate McDonalds and Wendys, these may be better choices if you are looking for a solid lunch at a fair price. I feel ripped off when paying $7 ($5.70 plus $1.30 for vegetables) for the pathetic chicken bowl at Tokyo Joe's. I am not fooled by the huge bowl of rice with hardly any of the substance - chicken & vegetables. Also pathetic is the sushi rolls that Tokyo Joe's offers. Try to find the fish within the huge rice roll they make. Again, they create the illusion of a huge sushi roll with all that rice, and barely any fish within. And it cost $6.10 for that roll. Sadly, Tokyo Joe's has little to offer in the way of value for the money. We left hungry after a total cost of $13.76.

The reviewers who described this location as some kind of run-down, post-apocalyptic fish abattoir are, to say the least, prone to the exaggeration that internet anonymity can afford. That said, while the sterility of Tokyo Joe's and accusations that it's hygiene is imperiling the neighborhood children are ridiculous, the food is much less than the value printed on the menu. For example, the Oyakodon at nearly $10 is a moderately sized bowl (I'm 6'2") of noodles with a pretty stingy collection of chicken, scallions and other vegetables mixed. The flavor is bland, and compared to any other oyakodon, from Japan or from Colorado, it is wildly overpriced and under-flavored. The staff, very friendly and upbeat besides being at the end of their shift, indulged me with a sample of the ramen broth. Frankly, it is an offense. The subtle art of ramen has evolved into its own culinary tradition in Japan. I can forgive a certain dilution of this rich and delicious food as it crosses the Pacific and hauls overland all the way to Colorado. But this isn't a dilution of flavor. This is a thorough character defamation of ramen. Basically, they've made a Campbell's chicke broth and threw some ramen ingredients in there, and nothing can be further from the rich, complex and filling ramen you'll find in the Japanese archipelago. For that I can not see myself returning to any Tokyo Joe's. The Oyakodon disappoints, and the ramen broth offends. On the plus side, I had a bite of the Spring Roll a friend had, and it was pretty good, though pricey for what it was. Tokyo Joe's sports a tasteful decor and was plenty clean for my tastes, but where the table shines the food is dull.

Fills my need for fast casual faux Japanese. Boulder Bowl with Yakitori, hold the Cilantro, please. That's my regular. I go often enough to keep punching my addict card.

Good quailty of bowls. Good portions and a frequent buyer card! All sushi rolls are cooked meats so they are decent.

I was craving healthy fast food....so despite some negative reviews, I decided to give this place a try. It really wasn't bad, but it also wasn't great. In San Diego there was a fast food Japanese restaurant chain called San Sai. I was expecting something like that, but Tokyo Joe's wasn't even close. I was hoping to get some inexpensive sushi. The sushi menu was really small. I tried three rolls. They all were lacking freshness. The rice was dry and the ingredients had no flavor. The size of the sushi menu should have been an indication that this isn't what they specialize in. I think most people eat the rice bowls. That menu has a lot of options, and interesting combinations. I had a bowl with peanut sauce that was very tasty. I would suggest avoiding the sushi at this place. Just stick with the rice and noodle bowls. And...don't make a special trip. As a side note: I found it interesting that they had a stand on every table displaying the salaries for every position in the restaurant.

I would return for a carry out sushi lunch. Staff was courteous and timely. The place was clean and I had a fine experience. Why not more stars? 3 stars A-OK sounds like what it is. Its not "yay, I'm a fan" or "as good as it gets". But, its a chain and if Tokyo Joes replaced all the other major chains, the world would be a better place. BTW, I had a spicy tuna roll and a seafood roll of some sort.

Use to go to this location about 3 times a week. Always great service, great food, and never any issues. The last few months, the service started to get worse and the orders started to come out wrong. The very last time I went, there were rotting, molding tomatoes in my wife's salad! When showing one of the girls who work there, she just sort of was like.. 'oohh'... and that was it. Needless to say we no longer will go to that location.

Booo to the sushi! Cold (insufficiently thawed) and dry. Sushi fast food never good!

This is another example of why you should not eat at a Colorado chain that tries to do ethnic food. The restaurant is clean and neat, and the service was fast. The food sort of looked like Japanese food, but it didn't come close to tasting like real Japanese food. My miso soup was served with a spoon in a coffee cup, complete with plastic lid. Anyone who has been to a semi-authentic Japanese restaurant knows that miso soup is served in a small bowl and drunk out of the bowl, no spoon. I do realize that when I order sushi such as a California roll I am not ordering *real* Japanese food. However, cilantro in one of my sushi rolls just goes too far. In summary, the food is not bad, but please, please don't go here with any anticipation of eating Japanese food. Just as Chipotle is in its own category very separate from real Mexican food, so Tokyo Joe's deserves its own unique category.

The place is nice but don't expect the usual sushi stuff. I couldn't give it a 3 because they put so much sauce into your bowl and this is unhealthy. Services is good.
