Table of 4. After receiving only one small salsa, asked for a 2nd. Had to ask a 2nd time. After 15 minutes finally received extra cup of salsa. Ordered Chicken Fajitas. When they arrived, there were no tortillas. We politely told the guy that brought the food from the kitchen that the tortillas were missing. He acknowledged the mistake by nodding his head but we never received any tortillas for the fajitas. Very disappointing. Everyone here acts clueless. What is up with Leadville? 2 out of 3 places either very rude or clueless. We also ordered the Chicken Enchiladas. They were good. This is why they get 2 stars. Otherwise, 0 stars would be appropriate.

One of the worst dining experiences of my life. Service was very slow. Had to ask for chips, ask for napkins, order was wrong twice. Beef was full of inedible gristle. Beans were burnt. Some food never showed up. Avoid at all costs!!!!!

Given the low Yelp reviews we were skeptical about eating here, but we tried it anyway based on a friend's recommendation. We were the first table to arrive to an empty restaurant. Over the next 20 minutes the restaurant filled up another 6 to 8 tables which we watched every one being served before us over the subsequent hour (2 of the tables were turned over TWICE before we started receiving our food). After about an hour in, we inquired as to the status of our order and was told that the cook wanted to get some of the smaller short orders out before ours but ours was coming up soon. Our food finally started being delivered at about an hour and 20 minutes in. After about half the table was served, we were then informed that the kitchen was out of hamburger for one of our kids' entrées. The server (who I think was the owner or manager) blamed the computer system, then blamed the cook, then tried to come up with some other excuses as we complained. What was served was bland and boring, and most of it was left uneaten. Avoid this place at all costs.

If there was anything lower than one star, I would have chosen it. Simply a horrible restaurant. The service, the food, the attitude....all bad. I come through Leadville often, and will never come back here.

Discovered this place 10/3/2014. Food is good, hot and fresh, well prepared. The fish soup (basically a potato/noodle soup with shrimp and some added herbs/spices) was very, very good. The service could be a little better (it was a Friday afternoon, and I think they were preparing for the Friday night crowd, hard to say...) The salsa was very hot :-) We'll definitely go back next time we're in town.

Literally worst restaurant experience of all time. Only thing worse than the food was the service

Pretty lousy food really. Generally basic food that I could have prepared myself at home and margaritas worse than a premade mix and Jose Cuervo. Pretty lacking, would not recommend to others or eat again in Leadville.

Food is OK. Service is bare minimum. Nice location. Pricing is fair. There are better choices (try Casa Blanca) in Leadville if you hanker for Mexican fare.

I thought this place was good for the money. It's a basic family owned restaurant. When we got there after some turns at Cooper the family was gathered around one of tables doing homework and coloring. Nice. I had the carne asada plate and it was excellent. It came with rice, beans and avocado just as you'd expect. My friend had a burrito that was stuffed and delicious. The chips and salsa were ok and the tortillas were not homemade, but that's not a deal breaker. This place has been getting a beating in the ratings but you should go. Our service was good and overall it was a decent change from the Leadville bar scene.

Worst food ever. I had shrimp fajitas that were cold and flavorless. My boyfriend had the tacos and the tortillas were falling apart because they were so soggy. Our waitress was horrible; she was rude and didn't come check to make sure our food was okay. We were never asked if we wanted refills. We obviously did not even touch most of our food and she did not even acknowledge her customer's full plates. When we asked for our check she just replied "yeah" and kept walking and we had to wait for another 10 mins! Save yourself the time and $$! Definitely not worth considering twice.

There was only one other table in the restaurant and we were not sure how fresh the meat was, so we stayed safe with chips and salsa and cheese quesadillas. Salsa is really spicy!! Quesadilla was grilled and good. Good Mexican beer selection.

Avoid at all costs. Unfriendly service, mediocre at best food, uncomfortable atmosphere.

Decent food, very slow service. You can get better Mexican in town.

I would do 0 stars if I could. Waitstaff was in attentive and rude. We left after getting chips and salsa. The place was gross and depressing. When we tried I leave they wouldn't let us pay with our card but made us go get cash. Don't bother.

This place is authentic and cheap, but the food just isn't that good. I got the burrito, which was small. I got the "smothered" version, but it was more of a green, chimichuri-like sauce than ranchero sauce. There also wasn't a lot of meat or substance inside. My friend got the chicken fajitas. That was a safe bet, but again it just wasn't worth writing home about.

Food was ok but the service was awful. I felt like I was an inconvenience even though we we one of two couples there. We will not be going back.

All the food could have been bought at the local Safeway and reheated. The nachos came with that yellow cheese sauce from a can. This is supposed to be Mexican food, not a ballpark. The services was sketchy, but i can forgive that since sometimes there is a language communication barrier since the waitress didn't seem to know English. Usually that means the place is going to be "authentic" in food. Not. Avoid. Well, since Leadville doesn't have many restaurants you would be better off eating at the pizza joint nearby.

Authentic, small-town Mexican food. My 13-year-old son and I had the pork tamales, chicken burrito, and 1/2-order of nachos. All were tasty and plentiful for the price we paid. My margarita was the perfect complement to the spicy jalapenos and the green chili. If you are a city person (Denver, Co Springs, etc) you need to expect a more laid-back atmosphere when you travel to the mountains. After all, that's why we come here, right?

Similar to a lot of other reviews, I'd say the service left something to be desired. Our server was not friendly at all. In fact, one of my friends decided against asking her for a recommendation because of her unfriendly demeanor. We decided to come here because we were starving and figured Mexican food would be a quick and substantial meal. I was so hungry, I practically inhaled my plate when I got it. I ordered the pork tacos with beans and rice for $4.99. I didn't think it was overpriced like a lot of other reviews. Actually, I thought that was a good deal that came out to about $1 for each item on the plate. The rice and beans were not very good. When I got the beans, some of it had a crust on it, so I avoided those parts. The tacos were okay. Pretty much your typical tacos with corn tortilla. They were a little heavy on the cilantro for me though. I doubt I'll be back because of the service and not so stellar food.

Horrific! Terrible. So gross. We came here as a last resort after being turned away at Tennessee Pass Cafe (see my review for that place). We were hungry and tired and looking for a spot to rest for an hour before heading back out on the road. Anyways, don't expect much at this place...except maybe some indigestion and some 'tude. Pros: They don't turn people away. The food is palatable/edible. You won't starve. Cons: Not friendly (not rude some would say), just definitely not friendly. Food of sketchy quality. A bit overpriced considering the previous statements. No ambiance.

The food is marginal at best, and the service is horrible. Maybe it's because I'm from a much larger city, but there is no way that I would consider giving this place more than one star. One would be better off driving another 20 minutes to Vail or Frisco.

Not sure whether it's a Leadville thing, but the service here was very bad. Extremely surly waitress, very slow service. The food was OK, but how bad can a cheese quesadilla be? Other patrons too were grumbling about the bad service and left in a harumph.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
