Went here today with the family after a morning of looking at mine remains and antiques, but unfortunately we had a bit of a time constraint and we were all hungry. The woman at the Hardware Co. reccomended Callaway's to us, saying that the food was pretty good and as veg-friendly as a Leadville restaurant's gonna get, but not to expect much by way of service. Boy, was she right. We walked into the restaurant, and I was hit with how cute the (rather small) interior was. A little heavy on the "wild west/Victorian" thing, but cute nonetheless. We were promptly seated and promptly had our order taken, but it went downhill from there. We waited a good long while for a couple sandwiches, and that got us more than a little nervous about our previous engagements. The staff seemed to be having a bit of a spat, so perhaps that was the source of the problem. Not good, no? I had ordered a chicken sandwich, and stressed to keep off the avocado. I'm intolerant to avocado, so it wasn't a "scrape it off after I get it and I'll be fine" sort of deal. What do I find but a big ol' glob of guacamole oozing out of my sandwich. When our waitress, who wasn't half bad and seemed a bit stressed, replaced the sandwich, it was okay. Not bad, but not anything to write home about. Bottom line, go elsewhere. It's not worth all that time.

The food appears to be reheated from frozen. Mediocre at best. The pulled pork was too saucy and not flavorful. My husband had the brisket and it was "adequate." Probably better places in town. Service was slow, but the food came out fast.

Would never return. Stopped in for lunch, we waited well over an hour for our food and it never arrived. Other tables were seated and served during our visit. We didn't order anything unusual...I ordered a bowl of their black bean soup, husband ordered the ruben and our daughter ordered the kids ravioli. They weren't busy at all, perhaps there were about 4 or 5 tables aside from ours with customers. We finally left as we needed to get back on the road.

Super cute restaurant in downtown Leadville. Small menu, but the perfect portion and price for lunch. Each entre comes with a bowl of soup of your choice, which change daily. We had the Buffalo Chili and it was great! At the end of the meal, we were given bite size oatmeal raisin and peanut butter cookies. Great lunch spot if you are ever in the area.

Perhaps better recognized locally as the dining room of the historic Delaware Hotel, crossing the hotel's lobby is an experience in its own right. Packed with Victorian-era ornamentation, a small resident dog, saloon-style bar and hotel main desk, the long walk to Callaway's is a glimpse into a long-lost era. We arrived during the city's "Boom Days" celebration, so all personnel were decked out in their best 1880's finery. This was a late lunch for us, but we were the only diners in Callaway's. Service was-- to be gracious-- "casual;" four burgers took about 20 minutes. The burgers, thick Black Angus beef with some very tasty accompaniments, were among the best I've had in years. My choice was the "Fremont," with bacon, Swiss, sauteed mushrooms and avocado; thoroughly enjoyable. Our sons ordered their burgers with green chili; they looked delicious, as well. A bit rough-around-the-edges and slow (but pleasant), I'm craving another one of their Fremont burgers back here in New Jersey!

Great place for lunch! Wonderful friendly service and delicious food options! So happy we ignored the new reviews here and took the recommendation of the visitor center

The burger meat was like a sponge of bread mixed with dead horse, and I had to fight to get cheap ketchup packets to try choke a few bites down. Nasty. My wife got a BBQ sandwich that tasted like it had been on a shelf all year. She actually spit it out it was so bad. This place needs Gordon Ramsey to go investigate because they are not storing their food properly. This is likely the worst lunch my wife and I have ever experienced in a town so completely overrated its not even funny. My advice: steer clear of Leadville entirely... or drive through and find food elsewhere. Places like Idaho Springs are way more of a old time mountain town than this place.

Came here and waited over 40 minutes for fish and vegetables. They staff one server and one cook for a Saturday night. After my incredibly long wait, I was presented a disgusting plate with rice and beans which were not seasoned AT ALL. Oh, and the piece of fish was TINY. This place is awful.
