Yianni’s Gyro Place Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Stopped in for lunch and had my go to gyro plate. Yianni's has been here for years and churns out quality Greek selections on a daily basis. The gyro meat is well seasoned tender and has great flavor and the the pita was fresh, soft and pliable. The tzatziki sauce is great and compliments everything well, not being overpowering. The service is quick & the owner is very sweet & makes sure to check on everyone. This place is a great spot if you're looking for a Greek fix and your crunched for time. I highly recommend it.

Gyros! This place makes a delicious gyro. Order the Gyro with a side and you won't regret it. I usually get the fries, but today I substituted for onion rings. The rings were alright but nothing to brag about. The Gyro was awesome. The Gyro salad looked good too. The service was very prompt. This place was packed over lunch but the line moved fast. The lady at the checkout was hilarious and very kind. The food was delivered fast as well. If you want an excellent Gyro then come here!

Three stars is about right. I had the Gyros platter. It was pretty uneventful. The meat was a bit dry. The Pita wasn't really hot and seemed to have some sort of oil on it. The salad was very fresh and tasty. Sauces are OK. I wouldn't go out of the way to eat here, but if I was in the area I'd do it again.

A-OK is about right. Stopped in for lunch with coworkers and opted for the gyro. Food was ok, nothing notable but not bad either. The prices were decent for a lunch outing and you get a pretty sizeable portion. Service is friendly, décor is minimal. If you need all the basics, then the basics you will have!

3rd time eating at Yianni's. I order the Gyro Platter every time. It's definitely one of the best tasting Greek restaurants in Denver. Last time we ate there there was a spat between a few customers which had the entire restaurant tuned in. Though it wasn't enough to make everyone whip out their iPhones (I had mine ready to go jic) it was quickly over and handled very well by the staff. Not sure of the lady's name who works there but she asked us "How's the food? How about that action?!" We lol and I realized while all of that was going on I never stopped eating. That's how good Yianni's is!

Pretty good gyro meat, and made fresh to order. Pretty heavy on the meat though. Could use some lettuce/more fresh veggies on top of the tomatoes. Pretty strange atmosphere. Not dirty, but doesn't feel like the safest bet on food safety. Had to wait at the counter for about five minutes and call for someone in order to be received. Not bad overall, but didn't leave me wanting to come back especially much.

Had the Gyro sandwich and fries today and it was so good! Hot and fresh! I'll be back for the Gyro and to try some of the other menu items. Simple place, very clean. And very friendly service. I was going to avoid mentioning where we had lunch last Friday, where I had a Gyro (Mountain Tap Bar) and it just didn't seem or taste quite right. But I have to say that Yianni's is the real deal!

I have been going to Yianni's since their grand opening and I have never been disappointed. This is a great family-owned restaurant, with quick and friendly service. The man working the counter is always friendly and helpful. The food is always delicious and in very generous portions. I have not ventured outside their Greek offerings, but they also have some Italian and American options for those not into Greek. Although I've tried their Greek plate (Greek salad, souvlaki, and gyro), the gyro plate, and the gyro sandwich, I usually order the gyro melt because it is, as far as I know, unique to this establishment. In lieu of the traditional pita and feta, they put gyro meat on sourdough bread with some kind of melty white cheese and make a grilled sandwich. It is delicious. The food is affordable, less than $10 for meals, and they allow for substitutions for a small upcharge. I usually get a Greek salad instead of fries, which is well worth the extra money. I have come at the height of their lunch rush and during the evening lull, but have never had to wait a long time for my meal. The restaurant is always clean and parking is no issue. If you are looking for a quick bite to eat in the Lakewood area, you should definitely try out Yianni's, you won't be disappointed.

Good Greek diner food. Fast service (order at the counter and they bring it to you). Tasty onion rings, I had a gyro which was chock full of meat. The atmosphere is fluorescent light, crowded, tiny tables, TVs. One feels a bit exposed, munching away wiping tzatziki sauce off one's chin. I don't really like this kind of seating arrangement so that's why I probably wouldn't come back. That's just me though.

Best gyro in Colorado :) Quick, friendly service, it's a weekly craving!

Busy and popular spot and we soon came to find out why. Generous plates with tasty gyro meat, salad, perfectly warmed pita and yummy tzatziki. Service was quick and friendly - it's order and pay at the counter but they do serve you at the table. Nothing fancy here, but a great, quick and tasty meal for a pretty good price!

My wife wanted to go to a fancy restaurant and I asked her -fancy or just simply great food? She smartly said "Great Greek Food" = Yanni's. Pleasant, friendly and fast service with great large portions for very reasonable prices. We will be back....

  • Noble S.

Rude staff. Once we were seated and ate very ordinary Greek food (Taziki's is much better), I asked for coffee with my baklava (which I was very excited about) and the blond woman that took our order looked right at me and told me the coffee was really old that I could have it for free and walked off...NEVER offered to brew a fresh pot. Very disrespectful and rude; we drove quite a ways to honor my friends enjoyment of this restaurant. Well, not again.

Nice little casual spot, very tasty food, clean, friendly, some outdoor seating and plenty of parking. My new 'go to' for a Gyro fix! We will have to try more dishes but based on the other reviews here I'm sure they deserve all 5 stars.

Fresh taste, friendly staff, and very quick take out service if you just want to enjoy at home like I did. I will definitely be coming back.

Nothing beats good Greek food. Especially when it's close to our house and the price is totally reasonable. The hubs and I first came here about a month ago. We walked in and were warmly greeted. It is very casual and exactly how we like to eat out. I ordered the falafel sandwich and he got the gyro plate. He was very happy with the flavor and amount of meat. The fries were not the best Greek fries we've had (we like them super crispy), more like a burger joint fry. We are clearly connoisseurs of fries. The pita bread is awesome too. Lightly toasted and buttery delicious. Tonight I ordered to go. Same thing for the hubs and the falafel plate for me. Same great service, same great taste.

Family owned and run. It's authentic Greek food. Which I love! The gyro is so good and the lemon chicken rice soup is awesome. Great service and fast.

Updating my review to say this place really is the real deal when it comes to Gyro's. I have had several since my last review, and I have to say they don't disappoint. Also, the service is pretty great. I couldn't find my debit card so asked him to cancel my order while I went to look for it. I came back a few minutes later after I found it. He had my order still ready to go and said "you could have just paid me next time". It was a generous offer, and I guess that means I'm a regular who might eat here too much. Lol

When you look around and see people of the country in which this food originated dining right alongside you, you know you have come to the right place. No frills yum yum. Very filling as well. We'll be back.

This place is good for the following: If you're driving down Colfax in the Lakewood area and feeling hungry. When you're lazy and don't want to make anything. When you're super hungry and don't want to pay about $8 for a tasty and filling meal. If you want to be able to order food and not be surrounded by crowds of people. If you want to relive scenes from "My Big Fat Greek Wedding". They boast a wide variety of food, but why try anything other than their Greek food? My first visit we got a chicken slouvaki pita (pita and fat fries) and gyro plate (gyro, pita, salad, dolmade). And now we're hooked! My pita didn't come with dolmades, but is always one of my favorite sides at Greek places. The friendly lady overheard me say that half of my friend's dolmade would be mine and laughed. When she brought our food, my pita plate had an extra surprise! A dolmade just for me! No halving necessary. I really appreciated that. Another notable visit was when they were training a new cashier. She was about 11 and from what I recall, she had trouble seeing over the register and had to perform in front of her entire family sitting at a table directly across from the register. She didn't keep it a secret from us that we were her first customers, but it didn't matter, she was the best cashier we've had! Sometimes I'm feeling really antisocial and take the food to go, although it's still delicious, it's not the same as being served hot and eaten out of a little basket. It's so good fresh. The pita is hot, soft and a little crunchy on the edges. They serve it just like they should in a foil wrapper, although, no foil has ever helped me avoid making a mess. And the veggies are very fresh. Sometimes you'll get a place that's inconsistent and you end up with soggy tomatoes or droopy lettuce every now and then. Not here. At Yianni's, you'll only find plump and firm tomatoes in your pita. Not to mention the generous chunks of feta in your salad. It's important to have a good, local, and convenient Greek go-to place in my life, and Yelp friends, I've just found mine.

  • Nick S.

The service was fast and courteous but the gyro plate left quite a bit to be desired. The slices of gyro meat were more like crumbles and didn't have any crispiness to them as if the spit wasn't getting enough heat. The pitas were pretty low quality too. It's really a bummer that there isn't a better gyro place in the Denver metro area. This is the second time I've eaten here and I'd say they're consistently mediocre at best. I still miss Chicagoland for some things and having good (and cheap!) gyros everywhere you go is one of them. I'll keep looking, but this isn't the place that's going to do it for me.

Been to Yianni's several times now and it has become our destination when we crave Gyros. Lots of meat with great flavor. Good Tzatziki sauce and I always find myself wanting extra. Fries are always hot and service quick. My wife wanted a side of olives, and that may have been the only disappointment; olives were good but with pit and for $3.00 for maybe a dozen olives...a little pricey.

Very awesome Greek place! Sally is always working when we come in, she is the sweetest. Today I had the gyro with salad. The salad had a domale in it and it was amazing, I can be a harsh judge of Greek food because I have had the best and I gotta tell ya, this place gets it right! Prices are reasonable and everything is so good!

Gyro pronounced correctly served by actual Greek!!! Yep this is where I go for authentic Greek gyro's!!!

I've been here several times and the food is always fresh and delicious. I always order the gyro and fries and have never been disappointed. The tzatziki has great flavor, it's not too thick and not too thin. What I love most about this place is the food is always made fresh to order and my experience is consistent, great food and fast service. So many restaurants are hit or miss but Yianni's is always on the mark. They also keep the place very clean which is appreciated! They also have pasta dishes, salads, and burgers if your not in the mood for a gyro or a sandwich. What a great family owned business.

Nice place to find decent Gyros. I mostly get the Greek salad. It's a nice portion and includes a dolmade. The service is normally fast a friendly.

My wife and I stopped by this place friday night. My wife loves good gyros and I keep telling her this place is good. I stopped in for lunch about a year ago. My wife said they were the best Gyros she is had in Denver. Really full of meat. My wife and I ordered it with a salad instead of the fries and our girls got the fries everything came out fresh and really good. We let the girls try the desserts and they were really good to. Rice pudding and Baklava. This will definitely be one of our spots. I fed all four of us and it only came to $40. The gyros are about eight bucks with french fries. It's a great family restaurant. Simple but clean and very tasty

Bad experience. Staff was rude, Gyro had no feta frozen fries and onion rings. I won't be back.

So happy we found this place. Being Aussies living in Denver we have missed having a kebab shop always near by, and this place is not too far from home and we were very happy with our meals... So we have close to home and great food, awesome :-) I went with a gyros pitta sandwich and the wife went for a falafel version. They were brilliant, the kind of brilliant where even though you are full, you wish you could have another one! We loved the fries, they are more like the type we have in Australia so suited us well (our American friends would say they were mushy), they were not seasoned but as we were eating at home we seasoned them to our own flavor, the same could be done eating on site. Here is a tip, I found a perfect mix of using their tzatziki sauce with the Tapatio hot sauce I have at home for perfection on my gyros, also great with the fries (hot chips). This meal couldn't be improved, it was absolutely fantastic, great job guys.

Love the service, the freshness of their fries and the quality of their ingredients. I almost always get tbeir gyro. There aren't many good quick options in Lakewood that aren't chains. Glad to have this restaurant in Lakewood.

  • Lynn T.

They make a great gyro and the price is right. It's quick service which is nice especially when you have a hungry young child. I'm so glad I finally tried this place and I can't wait to go back and try more dishes. Family-friendly and authentic!

I'm Greek myself and I crave yiannis like all the time! This place is bomb (: I always get the gyro melt without tomatoes and it is worth every cent!

Couldn't figure out what to eat , and was driving down colfax and saw a greek restaurant. Went inside and gave it a try.. what an awesome bunch of greek options. I ordered the falafal pita wrap with french fries . My boyfriend got the gyros wrap. YUM! good flavor and I really liked how they made it right in front of me.. it took a few mins but I would much rather wait a few minutes for a better quality item then be rushed and have cold food sitting under heat lamps. Overall, I like this place and plan on coming back .

Gyro salad with meat is fantastic! Bread was warm and delicious. Very nice staff. Definitely recommend.

  • Alex R.

Ok it's not beautiful ... But what Gyro place is? Reminds me of college! Great gyros and the fries might be some of the best on the west side. Could use a little load Greek music to complete the feel, but ya can't have everything can you? Gyros are wonderful. My wife gets the Chicken Souvlaki, and the kids get the burgers. All are happy. The owner is a good guy and takes care of his regulars

  • Tommy T.

This place is almost perfect. Great food, friendly service and a fantastic price. I had the gyro which in my opinion is the benchmark dish for any Greek restaurant. If you can't throw down a solid gyro you shouldn't be in business. I was so happy that I've finally found a place where I can get my gyro fix. If you have a friend or know someone who has never had a gyro or has and didn't like them, bring them here. If they don't like it they are dull uninteresting people that you are probably better off deleting from your contacts.

I read the reviews on Yelp and just had to try this place. One of my favorite trips of all time was the one we took to Santorini. We went to a corner Gyro stand several times and Yianni's on Colfax made me remember that little Gyro stand. The lamb has the perfect Greek flavor not bland like some Gyros in Denver. My husband had the Gryro plate and that is the way to go - it's a large plate of meat, salad and a pita on the side with french fries. The price is so reasonable. When I am near Colfax I think it's a must stop. The service was great and the food was served fast. Salivating as I write this review. Wish there was one closer to Evergreen.

I am admittedly not really picky about gyros. I mean, I'm willing to get a gyro just about anywhere, it's one of those things that even when they're not great they're still pretty good, at least to me. I get annoyed with the meat isn't freshly made or seared, or when the pita is clearly bought, but still, I always like gyros. So, when I saw Yianni's I kind of thought "Well how good can it be? All gyros are good" And I was wrong. Because this is the best gyro I've ever had. Granted I'm not Greek, and I've never lived in a Greek community, but for me this was the best. This place is definitely a former fast food restaurant (looks like a Dairy Queen) and seemed to have a lot of local workers on their lunch breaks. The menu has plates, salads, sandwiches, and includes Greek, Italian, and American food. Nothing is over $9 if I remember correctly. I opted for the gyro with greek salad instead of fries, which cost me around $8 (normally served with tons of fries), including the salad up-charge. The food came out within 2 minutes or so. The cashier brought my food and was very, very sweet. To me it's clear the pita is freshly made- it didn't crack, it wasn't tough or overly chewy, and it was perfectly toasted. The meat was so, so flavorful. Topped with tomatoes, white onion, and served with also fresh tzatziki sauce. There was probably twice as much meat on this gyro than any I've ever had. I basically had to force the sandwich out of my hand to wrap up half to take home. The accompanying salad was also fresh and flavorful; my only complaint is the dressing is on a ramekin on the side with no lid, so I couldn't mix it up and ended up pouring basically just oil on my salad. But that's a small complaint overall- I would happily come back here many times for a cheap, tasty lunch that's large enough for 2 meals.

Fast, friendly turn n' burn service. Pita bread was fried and rubbery. Gyro meat, feta cheese, yogurt sauce, none of it had any pop. Bland. Didn't finish my meal. Low quality ingredients.

The food was excellent. The service was good, too. We were pleasantly surprised by how fresh everything tasted and the fries were hot out of the fryer.

The best Gyros in town! Awesome Turkey Sandwiches! Yummy Fries! All around a great small place with great food, service and very comforting. If you are in the Lakewood area, it's a must to go here.

Haven't been by in a few years, but decided to drop in today. Good idea! My Ex and I (looooonnnnng story) got the falafel plate to split. Extra crispy and perfectly done within. Hummus was fresh and delicious as well. Pita triangles were warm and chewy. Greek salad was "eh?", but that's not why ya go there anyway. Right? All in all it's probably STILL the best Greek on the Northwest side, if not the entire city.

  • Stacie W.

Great food! I had the chicken souvlaki platter. The chicken was seasoned perfectly and the Greek salad was fresh. I liked that the dressing and tatziki sauce were served on the side. I also tried the falafels. Although they weren't my favorite, they were still pretty good. My hubby had a gyro with onion rings. He thought it was pretty tasty as well. We were going to take our food to go, but decided to eat there. I'm so glad we did! Its not fancy at all, which is why we wanted to check it out. We were in the mood for a casual but fresh, delicious food. It's a pretty charming little place. It was a beautiful day, so they had the doors open. Nothing like a little fresh air while enjoying a great meal. It got pretty busy while we were there. There was only one guy cooking and one woman taking orders and delivering food. They were awesome! He was in the back busting out great food, and she was so sweet and friendly. Not sure if they were the owners, but they definitely care about this place and their customers. We will definitely return!

I stopped by here for the first time since they opened. The last time I was there, it was a Quiznos. I like how they used the space, and there was a lot of seating available after lunch time. I was not feeling adventurous, and since I've not had Greek food, I decided to stick with something I knew: the fish and chips. The fish came in three decent sized pieces, and I thought it they were good. The tartar sauce came in packets, and they gave me enough. I didn't like the french fries that much, as they were kinda too mushy for me. In all, I think it was a little too pricy ($11.50) for 3 pieces of fish, fries, and a fountain drink. However, I do think that if I want to try Greek for real, then I will stop by here first.

Surprise! A good Gyro quick-stop in the middle of West Colfax. Whodathunk? After reading the Yelps, and being in the area in need of a quickie lunch, we headed in. I had the Gyro Platter, which comes with Gyro Meat, Pita, a Greek Salad, a Grape Leaf (Dolmades), and Tsatsiki. It was, honestly, pretty damn good! I am a sucker for a Gyro, even at an overpriced street fair, so I've had some experiences with bad ones. The meat here was lean and moist, and OH NOMS that Tsatsiki! The portion was big, too. The man got Chicken Souvlaki, and liked it too. It's a little dive-y, in what looks like it used to be a Long John's, but it was clean and the food was good with decent prices. Works for me.

Yianni's is a great place for a quick lunch or dinner. The gyro meat is juicy and flavorful. The gyros are served with a heaping amount of meat. I have never been to a restaurant with a more generous gyro. The service is also top notch. Service is always prompt and friendly. This establishment seems to have a ton of regulars come in on a regular basis. I have only had the gyros, but they are first rate. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try.

  • Don B.

On the surface Yianni's looks like many other Greek "fast food" restaurants inside and out - bright colors highlighting the white and blue of the flag of Greece. The menu also looks pretty reminiscent - emphasis, of course, on gyros and Greek entrees and sandwiches and some Italian items as well. You order and pay at the counter and they serve you your meal when it's ready. In my experience, gyros can be pretty similar from one place to the next but Yianni's is different. The gyros are juicier and more flavorful and the gyros "sandwich" (on pita, of course) is consistently stuffed fuller with gyro meat than any other place I've been. My personal favorite is the Greek salad with gyros, but everything we've had has been good. Bottom line - service from the owner-family is friendly and efficient, portions are generous, and food quality is very good and consistent. A predictably pleasant experience and very good value. A great place for takeout as well. On the surface Yianni's looks a lot like many of its competitors but at the end of the day it scores a notch above the rest pretty much across the board.

Yianni's Gyro Place is a great Greek diner, offering a nice selection of well prepared items, including Greek and American sandwiches. On a recent visit, hubby was thrilled to find pork souvlaki on the menu - so many places no longer offer this succulent and delicious protein (they also offer a chicken version). Our pita sandwiches were very good, with abundant, fresh ingredients. The dolmades were delicious, and the Greek salad and fries were the perfect accompaniment. Give this family run establishment a try!

We've been wanting to try this place. Doesnt look like much but the food is awesome! Gyro plate and sandwich were excellent. Prices are comparable with any other restaurant. We were their only 5 min and our food was served hot and fresh. As we ate, within 10-15 min people kept walking in. Best Greek food on the west side of Denver. if you're in Lakewood, stop in for a great meal.

Came here after reading yelp reviews. Ordered the gyro sandwich (comes with fries). Service was fast and friendly. The gyro was stuffed with meat, the meat was good and hot, the tomato and onion were fresh and tasty. The tzatziki sauce is very good and the fries were hot and tasty. Absolutely nothing to complain about. Will become a regular lunch spot especially with how quickly it was ready even on a busy day

This is a solid gyro. The Greek salad is not great but it is ok. The meat is seasoned well and juicy. Their taziki leaves much to be desired. The service is fast and it is a great place to stop in to grab lunch.

Lately, I've had this persistent hankering for Greek food, so I whipped out my trusty YELP app and found that 3 of my YELP friends recommended Yianni's. Well, as usual, my friends were right. This place was awesome! The dining room is open, bright and very clean. The staff (family?) were super-friendly and accommodating. And the chicken souvlaki pita sandwich was perfectly seasoned, tender and juicy! OMG... it's exactly what I wanted and more! Oh, and I should mention, it was only $6.95, including fries (or salad or onion rings)! SCORE!!! I'll be back every time I'm craving a little flavor of the Greek Isles...

  • Crys A.

A lot of meat in the gyros but the meat isn't really flavorful. Fries were just okay. Burgers are mediocre. Honestly, if you want a good gyro within a couple of miles, try Saffron Grill just north of 6th on Kipling. Those gyros have good flavor, far superior, if you ask me.

Great Greek on a dime! Fast friendly and a great deal for what you get. It's like the ma and pa Greek and Turkish places in Munich...

I came to Yiannis for a change of pace. I normally frequent the burgers plus down the street. To my suprise i felt rushed to order and did not get the crave satifying treat i had expected. I ordered a gyro sandwhich, maybe i'm wrong but i though tht had feta and pepperonchini??? This was just pita and meat, plus the meal was 9$$$? Really for meat and pita and a tiny side of onion rings? I will not be frequenting this place again, it was to pricy and impersonal for my taste.

My husband & I ended up try here by pure chance. We were at Larry Miller KIA in Lakewood & they had ordered a TON of food from here. It smelled really good - so we tried some & have been hooked ever since. Their pita bread - some of the best we have EVER had. Always sad when we run out of pita. The staff are always helpful& friendly. Great food.

A quick stop on the way downtown for the Avalanche game for dinner. The building is slightly weird but clean. Service was fast and hot for our Chicken Souvlaki, and Gyro pita. Dinner was great and the help was very friendly, checking on us at the table and laughing and joking with several customers. Not expensive and recommended!

Been here several times. The gyro sandwich is awesome! I need to try something else on the menu to be more thorough but they call to me! The lady behind the counter is really nice. Just a hole in the wall place and is outdated but the food is really good and I'ma go back many times!

The food was not bad, nor was it that great. The place has been there for years and never looked very appealing to eat at. There gyros are probably what keep this business going. I went with the falafa plate. I was not impressed, because I just rencently ate at garbazo beans down the street near colorado mills and was hoping for something similar.

Pretty darn good! I grew up in Chicago & finding really good Greek food in Denver is just flat out hard. The hummus here is the bomb & the Gyros are the best I have ever had outside the Windy City. You want good Greek food? This family place delivers.

Mmmm Yianni's is so delicious! Best Gyro meat I've had in awhile, awesome salads that always come with yummy dolmades, and great service even if you come in right before closing. Generous portions and great prices. Only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is fries that come with everything aren't wonderful, and spinach pie is a little too spinachy.

I took my out of town guest from sandiego here for lunch last week. The food is fantastic and authenic! I had the greek salad(w/meat) and my friend had the gyros sandwhich! Both were delicious and porportion generous! Friendly Service and the price is very reasonable. The resturant is popular because it was packed! I highly reccomend this resturant! I usually go to Petes Greek Cafe downtown for a meal this good, its nice to have a place on the west side of denver!

This place is just perfect for what it is- no frills, good food, friendly Greek spot. The menu is simple and the food is tasty. Nothing crazy or gourmet, but solid, enough to keep me coming back. The family that runs the business is always very nice and friendly and takes pride in what they are serving you. The decor is nothing much and this is really just a good spot for a quick lunch or a pick up order.

If you like a good Gyro - This place is THE BOMB!!!! I've been here about 4 times and while it looked at first like it might be a dump, it appears to actually be quite clean. The staff didnt always look like they would be friendly, but as always - looks can be decieving and they have always been VERY friendly. If I drive within 5 miles of this place, I am going stop and eat here every time - even if I'm not hungry. What else can I say - Great Gyros, Great Falafel, Great Sauces, Great staff!!!!! 5 STAR BABY!!!

Honestly so-so. I have had better gyro around the area but you do get a lot for your money with the Gyro plate. Staff looked bored and it was unusually slow for lunch time but the place was clean and the food was decent. A soild 4.

Fresh tomatoes, onions, white sauce, gyro meat ... excellent fries. I've been meaning to check out their other dinner specials ... pork chops for instance ... :)

On a Saturday afternoon spent errand-running, a friend, my sister, and I decided on this place. I found it via proximity search on Google maps, as it was close by one of our stops. I'm certainly glad we made the choice. We all ordered the falafel sandwich ($5.95); it came with standard from-frozen fries and a plastic ramekin of tzatziki sauce. The sandwich itself was on a pita, with some tasty hummus (creamy and well flavored), iceberg lettuce, and tomato. My sis ordered a piece of spanikopita ($3.00) and I ordered a small Greek salad ($4.25) in addition to my sandwich (which you can sub for fries for $1.00, but I wanted both!). The spanikopita was alright. Pretty standard phyllo + frozen spinach (and lots of it), not enough feta (IMO). The Greek salad was also fine; a mix of iceberg lettuce (bleh), cukes, tomato, olives (beware the pits!), feta cubes, and one tasty dolma. The salad was served with warm and toasty pita bread. Their Greek vinaigrette was a little too much oil and not enough everything else. I mainly skipped it and ate the salad sans dressing (which tasted just fine on its own). The falafels were well seasoned and smushed nicely inside the pita. The hummus warranted a side on its own next visit, and the tzatziki sauce gave mad dragon breath afterwards (but hey it added the right touch to the sandwich). They sell a variety of plates (gyros, chicken), other sandwiches, sides, some Italian dishes (chicken parmesan), and good ol' burgers. This place definitely has something for everyone, and daily specials Monday through Friday. The interior is nothing fancy, but was mostly clean. Service was sufficient. The food was mostly excellent, and at a good price. There were several other tables with patrons dining, and a couple of to-go orders came in while we ate. This seems like the kind of place that probably sees mostly regulars. And while I rarely travel this far west on Colfax, Yianni's would certainly be a tasty reason to make a trip.

No matter where you are, it is becoming easier and easier to find a Greek take-out place. I, for one, am very glad that this is the case. However, it is also true that most of these places are virtually indistinguishable. Yianni's, in my opinion, is not just an average place. My experience at Yianni's has been that they do not serve the same generic gyros that you can find anywhere else. The gyros, which I've had twice, once as a dine-in and once as a carry-out, either as a sandwich or on a platter, are juicy and delicious. I would be surprised if the gyros were not made in-house (although I can't say for certain- guess I'll have to ask next time I'm in). I've also had the chicken souvlaki (as part of the Greek Platter) which was great. Going to Yianni's, a person will pay a little bit more than at McDonald's (although not really that much), but a person will also eat vastly more delicious food and really feel good after the fact.

Stopped in for a Greek salad, figuring that this is Brahlorado, it'll be ok. Hot damn the salad was awesome! I looked other tables and everyone was happy with their meals. Next time I'm getting the gyro plate.

I think this place is great! Good Gyros! You get a lot on your plate for the money. Even this kid meals are a good deal, but they charge extra for cheese on a burger. I grew up in NY, so I am used to a gyro that is served with veggie on it. Yianni's Gyros are all meat, so i recommend that you ask them to add lettuce, tomatoes, onions, etc to your gyro. I've also had their dolma. It tastes pretty good too. Staff is attentive and friendly.

Ok! I see Im going against popular opinion here, but my experience with Yianni's was mediocre at best. First I must preface this review with the fact that i only tried the Gyros plate and the lemon chicken soup, but i was totally unimpressed by either. The lamb in the gyros was completely bland and the tzatziki sauce was more like ranch dressing with garlic salt added than traditional greek yogurt with cucumbers and lemon. In fact i didn't taste any cucumber in the sauce at all or lemon, or any thing at all which reminded me of tzatziki sauce. The first thing that should have tipped me off that this wasn't going to be good was the fact that there was no sign of the lamb spit that you usually see at a greek place (even at a street vendor) proudly displayed up front for all to see. I don't know if they even had one in the back but i doubt it. The soup was no better. they advertised it on a white board as "Greek lemon chicken soup" but i couldn't taste either. Potatoes and lard would be a better description but that wouldn't sell very well i imagine. The ambiance, as others have said is kind of "divey" but that has never scared me away from some very good restaurants in the past, especially Greek restaurants. I used to live across the street from a very divey Greek place in Chicago and their food was excellent. Well, like i said, Yianni's was a disappointment for me, but if your from Denver or Wyoming or Kansas maybe this is the best you've had, but it is far from the best there is! If your from Chicago or New York or LA and had good Greek diner food before, don't bother stopping here, for I'm afraid you will be disappointed as well.

Tired from a long day's work, my man and I popped in on a whim for takeout. You sometimes roll the dice visiting places on Colfax - but this Greek place was REALLY good! I had the Gyro plate, and it was really tasty. DH agreed (in fact he was ready to head back). I can say it's the best tzatziki sauce I've ever had - it has much more flavor than any I've had. The Greek salad on the side was solid and a good sized-portion. Beware that the olives have their pits ("shhhh!" --your dentist)! The plate also comes with fries - but they weren't anything to shake a stick at. They lacked seasoning, and were cut a bit too thick. I didn't eat them. If you can get a different side, I'd recommend doing so. They have daily specials, but overall the prices are extremely reasonable - one of the best aspects of this place. They do offer dine - in, and it was clean if a bit plain. Definitely worth a try if you're in the neighborhood, as the tzat sauce is killer and the reasonable prices allow you to try a bunch of things on the menu.

Pretty decent for Greek food in the west side of town. Is it spectacular, amazing, and the best Greek good I've ever had? Not really all that close. It is very passable Greek food, and I do enjoy eating here once in a while to get that fix, but I only do so because I am often working nearby. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here if I wasn't close by. Staff always seems preoccupied by some crappy tv show, their phones, or just conversation with one another, so you always feel like you are a nuisance to them one way or another. Prices are good, they have nice specials, and the place is clean. Solid "average" across the board.

These were the fattest gyros I've ever seen! They were seriously piled on. Most places leave you feeling, well, hungry but not Yianni's. I will be back.

Love it! Finally, a REAL gyro in Denver! Went for the very first time today and got two gyros, one for me and one for my wife. In short, Yanni's does it right. Plenty of meat and kept it simple with onion, tomato and tzatziki. Their gyros are similar in flavor to those I've had all over Chicago over the years. Meat was done right and seemed homemade, too. Very happy they fry up the pita, too. Really like the place itself, as well. Very simple decor and most importantly, very quick service. Yanni's is very similar to the little hot dog/gyros stands you'll find in Chicago--I felt right at home. Only thing I would change is to sliced up the meat in strips, not chunks, as well as slice the onions instead of dicing them. These are minor things because the flavor is definitely there! Overall, Yanni's is a winner. I will be frequenting this place a lot in the future.

I'm all about family-owned restaurants, so when the husband and I passed Yianni's on the way to Good Times, I suggested we flip the car around and try their gyros. We each ordered the gyro sandwich with fries, which included a huge amount of perfectly browned meat and ample tzatziki sauce. I stole my husband's tomatoes, he requested lettuce on his sandwich. Both of us finished our gyros, but left most of the french fries - not because they weren't good, but because we were stuffed from the huge portion. The cashier was very polite and our food was brought out very quickly. In my experience, Greek restaurants have some of the best burgers I've tried, so I'm definitely looking forward to one from Yianni's. I am also excited that they deliver, so maybe I'll forget to bring my lunch more often...

  • Ken K.

Yianni's Gyro Place, fortunately, does not play Yanni as some kind of cute joke. It does, however, serve things like gyros, burgers, ribs, and spaghetti and meatballs for some reason. In my on-going quest to find a decent gyro in the area, Yianni's has ... let me down. It was an unoriginal and disappointingly dry factory gyro delivered by some food wholesaler, not homemade, with mediocre fries and the usual yawn-worthy accompaniments.

  • Glenne W.

Omg yum!! The best gyros! The meat is perfect and the pita is soft and fresh and warm. The greek salads are also delicious. The kids have had the cheeseburgers and chicken fingers and were happy. The customer service is also fantastic. I would highly recommend.

White, blue and BBQ? Yes, this Greek place serves BBQ. A little weird, I know, and I'll probably never try it because I go into a place like this for lamb, olives and pitas. I've been three times since they opened. It's nice to have another gyro option on the west side-and they do the gyros just fine. Nothing spectacular. They could have more options from the mediterranean side of the map, but my wife enjoyed her greek salad and I think the tzaziki sauce was great. Food quality is in line with the prices, but the service leaves something to be desired when the middle aged woman is working the counter. The younger guys/gals are much more friendly.

Great (cheap) greek food and pretty quick!!! Very good gyro sandwich and gyros plate. Cannot be beat for the price. I especially like the gyros plate, which is basically a good sampler plate. It comes with a generous portion of gyro meat, grilled pita, tzatsiki sauce, iceberg lettuce, greek olives, onion, feta, french fries, and two small dolmades (rice stuffed grape leaves). All for only $7-8. If you want super high quality greek food, go to Axios in Berkeley, but if you're looking for a fix to crave your gyro craving, this place can't be beat. I do have 3 small complaints. 1. Sometimes they don't shave the gyro into nice, big chunks of meat. Instead it's small and a little crumbly. But they always do grill the gyro meat on the flat top before serving so it's hard to complain too much as it's always warm and yummy. 2. They do grill the pita, which is nice, but the pita isn't always the freshest. Sometimes it's come out a little stale and crusty. 3. And one time I got their spaghetti and meatballs......okay i guess. But this is a gyros joint and I would restrict myself to the gyro dishes here. If I wanted pork chops or lasagna or spaghetti again, I'll go to an Italian place. Bottom line - great for your gyros fix and can't beat the price (under $10 a person with a drink). Bonus- there is no waiter service, it's just a counter and they bring out your food quick.......thus no tipping beyond the cash register.

I've lived in Athens and ordered my "hiro koto-polo" chicken gyro many, many times. But in America, chicken gyros are often hard to find or they use too large of chunks where it is difficult to eat. Yianni's has authentic and delicious chicken gyros, my friends! The lemon and Greek spices juiced from thin slices of chicken, all white meat and no fat. The pita warmed and seasoned held until the last few bites. French fries here could be seasoned better, but I follow the rule of what I found in Athens: stuff your gyro with the fries. I literally had a doggie bag with 6 or so more strips of chicken and a bounty of fries. They provide and for a nominal price! Best part: Their tzatziki is made fabulously! No overtones of sour cream or liquid on the top as if it had been sitting around too long. And they are generous with serving you as many as you like, during lunch/dinner and for your to-go bag. Other Greek spots in this neighborhood - Nick's and Burgers Plus - have nothin' on Yianni's!

This place is great - I just moved to the area and dropped in to try it without knowing anything about. I've been back many times and have never been disappointed. I can't really classify this as a greek restaurant. They have gyro and souvlaki (plates and pita sandwiches). The rest of the menu is hamburgers, sandwiches, salads, chicken parmesan, spaghetti, pulled pork bbq sandwich. Seriously, what kind of "gyro place" has bbq? The gyro and souvlaki are good, nothing special. They do have a greek burger - beef, lamb, and feta - which I would try next time, but I don't think I will return. I was dissapointed that they didn't have falafel or hummus plates (or other greek dishes). Prices are fine, $5-6 for average food. Good quantity for the price. I understand that they are going for varity, but there are enough burger shops in town. Make it all greek, and do it well, please.

Local Greek family makes good! This place in a converted Quiznos is not high on ambience. You can dine in but it is more like a fast food place for that. However the food is delicious so plan on take out. When you enter the menu is right there and easy to read. Others may say why not just do all Greek food but I like the variety especially when someone in your party is saying they want chicken or a salad. You want a gyro? They are great...plenty to eat. The gyro plate is to die for...give it a try. Whoever said the food was standard was wrong...they cook it and they are courteous and prompt. If someone in your family wants a Philly they have that too. When you are tired of burgers or fried chicken or pizza or Chinese take out and looking for a quality meal that is tasty just go to this place, order and take it home. By the way the Greek salad is also quite good. This place gets 5 stars from me for gyros plus more at reasonable prices. Forget the ambience.

Honestly so-so. I have had better gyro around the area but you do get a lot for your money with the Gyro plate. Staff looked bored and it was unusually slow for lunch time but the place was clean and the food was decent. A soild 4.

Fresh tomatoes, onions, white sauce, gyro meat ... excellent fries. I've been meaning to check out their other dinner specials ... pork chops for instance ... :)

Quick and authentic gyros! Though I have had better, this is a good location and they have the option for quick service as well as a seating area. Friendly staff and you can see what they are preparing right there so you know its clean!

Went here for the first time with my family last week. The kids were pretty pleased with their chicken strips. My Greek steak plate was really good as was my hummus and pita bread. I really enjoyed this little locally owned joint...will certainly be back!!!!

  • KJ P.

I order the gyros plate which is enough for me and my wife to share. The food is fresh and made well like they take pride in their business. The staff remembers me now so its fun to return - try it! You will be pleased!

  • Graham K.

  • Koby H.

  • Susan H.

Nice little casual spot, very tasty food, clean, friendly, some outdoor seating and plenty of parking. My new 'go to' for a Gyro fix! We will have to try more dishes but based on the other reviews here I'm sure they deserve all 5 stars.

  • Noble S.

Lol

The gyro platter was probably the best We have ever had. Tasty, not dry. Went there on a snowy night. Woman behind counter (owner maybe) was really polite and nice. I would eat here regularly if we lived here.
