The food has always been pretty good and has a decent variety. Like the interesting decor as well. Food does seem to take a bit long to come out though.

Food tasted fine but certainly not very Mexican. No spice at all to it, the red sauce tasted more like an Italian red sauce than an enchilada sauce. Not that I would refuse the food or fail to support the business, just that I wouldn't go out of my way.

I was on a quest for onion rings and a non-meat Friday night meal. Wahoo's seemed to fit the bill, with sweet Maui onion rings and all the fish and shrimp taco offerings you may ever want. My husband and I split two fish tacos with ahi rice and black beans, with a side order of onion rings. He got a PBR ($1.75/can). The tacos come with two corn tortillas per taco, for some reason. I guess you can use the extra tortilla to make a rice and bean taco? It comes topped with some salsa, cabbage stuff, and a smidge of cheese. The tortillas were so forgettable. Bland and chewy, they detracted from what could have been a good taco. The fish was alright, but there really wasn't any fish taste for all the seasoning that was on there (blackened seasoning, but maybe too much). You could also get grilled fish. Shrimp dishes cost more, and you can get a variety of tacos, enchiladas, bowls, and burritos. The rice was bland as well, but the black beans were alright. Just your standard fare, but it's certainly not good enough to go back.. Also, some kid broke a bottle of hot sauce, and while the staff cleaned the hot sauce off the floor, they left fragments of glass all over the floor. Not sure what that was about....

It's a nice laid back place to eat. The food is average or above average. Be sure to get the Queso and then let it sit for a while and become solid. It tastes like handi snack cheese. So awesome. The fish tacos are great, and the calamari tacos are the best. If you're into stinky sea animals, be sure to check that out. Outdoor seating offers a nice view of the side of a building in Denver. Overall would recommend.

I walk in at 11:30am for lunch. There's a dude at the counter and he asks me if I want a chimichanga. He claims it's the best but only to get it if I want a nap later. I told him I would take it. I sit down and a few minutes later it arrives. It's ginormous and smothered in what appeared to be enchilada sauce. I dug in and was amazed at the flavor. I couldn't stop eating even though I know I should have taken some home. I was stuffed and felt pretty good. BAM! An hour later I almost fell asleep at my desk. I knew that dude was going to be right. I had to take a five minute power nap. Keep up the good work! You have some good food, I will be back!

My wife & I come here whenever we are looking for a light option for lunch or dinner. Walk up to the counter, place your order, grab your drinks and post your order number on the table. They are always on top of things and your food arrives very quickly. Usually we have the fish tacos with beans and rice, always a great option. Squeeze a little lime on the slaw, sooo good. This time we opted for the bowls, I had the grilled fish bowl and my wife had the Cajun chicken bowl. Pretty much the taco plate without the corn tortillas, a great slab of grilled fish on top of rice and beans with some poco on the side and a squeeze of lime. We actually split our bowls, I gave her half of my fish and I took half of her chicken, the chicken had great Cajun seasoning and brought a little spice to my bowl. If you're reading wahoos, combo bowl!! You're welcome. Another great visit to Wahoos!

It really sad. This place has gone down on their service drastically. I am allergic to cilantro and I tell them that every time I order. Tha last time i was here The brought my order and it had cilantro on it. I told them I ordered no cilantro. They took it back scrapped off the sauce with the cilantro then put the cabbage I asked for and brought it back. I ate one taco and realized what they had done. I took my plate to the register and told them they got my order wrong. The manager that day said that he was sorry did give me a refund and told me that they had had a lot of new hires. I decided to give this location another chance unfortunately they got my order wrong again. I told the girl to take it back and make sure to fully redo the tacos. She did with an attitude. She returned with a fresh plate and the food was good. They really need to train all their staff to listen to clients and how to read an order board correctly.

This is a great place to go for tacos in Lakewood. I ordered a salmon fajita burrito and it was AWESOME! It was huge and tasty! What more could I ask for. It also had lots beans and other veggies. I like that they serve beer but I wish they had a better selection. The staff was very friendly and accommodating as well. The outdoor patio is pretty amazing also.

Pretty good fish tacos! I like the great customer service and outdoor seating area. I only wish they offered a variety of hot sauces...

Seriously in need of WiFi. Carnitas & cajun wahoo tacos were both yummy & fresh. Adequate cilantro and slaw. Friendly service, catchy music, & fresh tea. Winning!

All of the food here is so delicious, I eat here often and have not had anything I didn't enjoy yet. The margaritas is prob my fave thing they got to offer. Love the vibes and atmosphere wahoos has to bring. I love bringing in my own stickers and slapping them up. Great happy hour and great costumer service. If you haven't been yet, you should check it out soon!

For fast food this place is good. Good fish tacos and alright quesadillas. If you need a quick inexpensive bite this is a good place to go.

If you like taco truck style tacos your in the right place. Moved from California and drove by this place plenty of times thinking it was some chain. Finally went in and have been 3 times in a week. Glad I went in, it took me back to my summer days in so cal. Somewhat reminded me of a burrito shop in bend Oregon too. I recommend this place to anyone who likes flavor! Chill vibe

Wahoos is really good if your group is split between healthy and comfort food! The bowls they offer are delicious, and the seasonings are on point! The atmosphere is pretty nice here and the patio is pretty quiet for being next to such a busy road. This is a great place to grab lunch with work buddies and eat some delicious food.

Seriously... what is the big to-do here? I've been told to check out this place ASAP for the "best fish tacos anywhere". I think my friends need to get out more if they think these are the best anywhere. The food was bland, boring, and just basically "there". The fish smelled VERY fishy (no pun intended; it actually smelled old), and the overall meal left me feeling like I had spent too much on overrated and hyped-up street food. Sorry, but I will not be back.

Checked out this place for lunch. I guess it's a chain in California - my Californian friends are in love with it so I went with them. I got the smothered cajun wahoo burrito. My burrito was humongous! It could practically feed 2 people. I wasn't crazy about the green sauce on top - it was cilantro cream based and just wasn't my jam. The fish inside the burrito was very good and had huge pieces. Overall, my feeling about the burrito - eh. I can see how people would like it but just not my thing, I guess. I also got the queso to start - really loved that. But the chips were so salty I had to shake the salt off of them. Not cool. Overall, if you like California style fish tacos you'll probably like it, just wasn't my thing. Service was great though.

Going to Wahoo's was part of my "Try Something New Each Week" endeavor. I have never been and was pleasantly surprised. Ordered the grilled salmon tacos. Tasty and filling. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The person taking my order was correct, 2 tacos is more than enough. This location had some nice specials. For those that have never been, they serve more than fish. Honestly, I will probably stop going to Chipotle and go here from now on when I am in the mood for fast, semi-Mexican, food. My only criticism is that the menu could be clearer about what is included and what you can add to your order.

I was stuck between a 2.5 and a 3.5 as I was delivered completely the wrong order, but I ate it. I ate two bites and then realized something wasn't right. But it tasted pretty good, and was close to what I ordered (taco form instead of bowl form), so I went with it. It wasn't as good as I remembered from a southern California visit, but it hit the spot for a quick lunch. The location was clean and the staff was pleasant. The bathroom was also clean. At lunch time, I always expect a packed restaurant, but I'd say about 30% of the seats were open. There was no wait to order and it only took about 5 minutes for the (wrong) order to show. I'd likely return for another fish taco.

Finally decided to try Wahoos. Ordered the Number 2. With a grilled Fish and Grilled Chicken Taco with Beans and Rice and a Margarita. They pack it in the tacos and just two were filling. The black beans were nicely seasoned. And the Rice was moist. The Margarita packed a punch as well. Love the interior with all the skate boards and stickers everywhere. Friendly employees. They bring out your food pretty fast as well. And its clean inside and you can see right into the kitchen.

Every time I've been here it's been against my will as my coworkers seem to love this place for some reason. But the food is just so overly salted. I've had this experience every time I've been here and even though my coworkers seem to love this place they often comment on how overly salted the food is too, but they still like it. Not me though, over salted food is not a pleasant experience.

I dig this place. And, here's why. 1. The service is always good. Like, always. 2. They make a mean burrito. And, somehow, it always tastes super fresh. Don't know how else to describe it. And, they offer different kinds of burritos for those who like veggies/don't like veggies, etc. 3. They only charge $.50 for an upgrade to shrimp in your burrito, and unlike the places that charge much, much more, they load the dang burrito with juicy shrimp. Not those cheap, gross, tiny poop-lined shrimp I get a lot of places. 4. They don't charge an upgrade for the salmon. They used to, I think, but they don't appear to, anymore. My boyfriend had the salmon in his burrito, and there was a ton of it. 5. The Wahoo's green sauce. Dear lord, the green sauce. I want to put it on all of the things. So, a tip. The menu says that an order of the green sauce or their chili sauce is $.50. That's kind of ridiculous. So, don't order any. Then, when they bring your food out to you, ask them for some. They always seem plenty happy to bring me as much of the green sauce and chili sauce that I want, and I don't pay. Also, if you have kids, they eat free on Thursdays. Two kids free per parent. I don't have kids, but I ate there tonight (Thursday) and there were a good amount of parents with kids. Oh, and the french fries. Order them, and ask for them smothered in green sauce and cheese. I don't know what the upcharge is for this, but it's worth it, even if it doubles the price. Every time we've ordered it, the whole plate is just swimming in cheese and sauce. And, I'm telling you, /anything/ is improved by smothering it in their green sauce. The ambience is nice, I think. You can sit outside under nice umbrellas, or inside, surrounded by surf boards, snow boards and skate boards. The walls and ceilings are all covered in stickers from various sporting companies. My only critique is that the Wahoo's in California offer marinated tofu as a filling, but only in California can you find that. Kind of a bummer as I wouldn't mind trying that.

Yum. Just like their counterparts in So. Cal, the fish tacos are the best! I always like mine heavy on the cilantro lime sauce. I was expecting things to be not quite as good as Huntington or Laguna, but they stood up! Great grub for your $ dudes!

Hmmm, not as good as I used to think Wahoos is. The shrimp tacos are still very delicious, but the fish tacos had that fishy smell to it, even the one with Cajun spice did not cut that smell, not to mention how dry the fish fillet was. They were properly seasoned, all right, but not well "sauced", if you will. And putting a ton of shredded veggies on top of every taco didn't necessarily make them picture-perfect. My friend was eating here for the first time and I recommended the Banzai bowl. I don't know, maybe it was the sauce she got? (She claims they didn't really ask her what sauce she'd like, maybe there's just one kind of sauce now? It's a green cilantro-lime-yogurt type of sauce, very refreshing, but not as good as what I recall having, something like a soy sauce based, thinned teriyaki type of sauce that resembled tempura dipping broth, it made the rice bowl so much tastier!)

Love eating at Wahoos - this location in particular. The staff is always so friendly and helpful. Another interesting fact is that I have seen the same faces working there for well over a year now, which in the "fast food" world is an eternity! This tells me that these folks like their jobs and have a good work environment. The food is always so fresh - and though I end up eating more than I should, I never feel yucky full. I have tried 5-6 different things and I loved them all. On a recent visit, I tried a new iced tea drink sold in a bottle. I really disliked it, and was just going to drink water. When the manager saw I wasn't drinking it, he insisted on giving my money back. Wow...such attention to detail!

The first time I was introduced to Wahoo's was in San Diego. I had a veggie burrito and loved it. Then when we moved to CO 10 years later and I saw that there was a Wahoo's so close to our new home, I almost cried out of excitement. They have the best queso in the world! My only complaint about this is that sometimes it isn't very fresh so it gets chunky from drying out, and well, just being old and not fresh. They have comped it for me in the past when it like this though, so that's something. I still eat it because it's delicious. I love the fish tacos and the chicken tacos. My husband likes the bowl options. The staff here is outstanding - super friendly, remembers us, and always smiling! Definitely a favorite!

I have only been to a Wahoos once a long time ago, so I had no real idea of the menu (this was a last minute lunch decision). The line was quick, which is great, but I didn't have any time to make up my mind on what to get. I asked the girl at the counter (Taylor? Her nails were done really nicely, is all I really remember) for her recommendation for a salad. Without hesitation, she said her favorite salad is the Wahoo Salad. So I got it with salmon. It was so delicious!! I forgot I even had dressing on the side, it just wan't necessary because of how well the salad tasted. The staff is great, the place is clean, and, most importantly, the food is really great! I'll be returning, no problem.

Being raised in southern California I love wahoos. I come here to reminisce of days of yester year. All right enough with the bull shit. This wahoos while not tear the quality of what I'm used to at the California locations is still delicious. I love the fish enchiladas and fish quesedias *sp* however I'm the few times I've been here there has been some consistency issues . Still love it tho and happy to have one in colorado

I don't think I've been to a Wahoo's. I was glad to come across this place. I ordred a grilled fish taco and a salmon taco to go. The salmon taco was fine. The grilled fish taco seemed to be cajun and super dry. It had a weird smell/taste. If I go back, I'll try the shrimp taco and have the salmon taco again. I didn't notice the shrimp taco on the menu, but probably missed it. Service was fine.

I tried Wahoo's for the first time awhile back and really enjoyed it. So I'm glad that I'm now working only five minutes away from this location. I went again today and it was again a pleasant experience. I ate in this time. Service was fast and friendly. I got the shrimp tacos with the cilantro slaw and rice and beans. It was good, my only criticism is the shrimp by itself was a tad bit bland, but the cilantro slaw and green sauce were so good I didn't much notice. People working there are nice and attentive and were quick to kick out a random bum who wandering in smelling of booze and started pestering people in the restaurant for money. I'll definitely go back. I do second the recommendation that the menu could be made less confusing though. For someone who has only been there once or twice it's difficult to figure out what comes with what. I was looking at the 'tacos' section and that's really all it says is 'tacos' and what is in them. Not how many, or what they come with. Though, the staff is more than willing to answer questions and give suggestions.

I thought i would write a follow up review to my checkin today since im pretty bored at work. Wahoo's has always been one of my favorite little chain restaurants. I lived in california for five years or so and i always used to go to the laguna beach wahoos. Wahoos really isnt a mexican place in my mind, its much more california costal/ baja/ japaneese. You really dont get the traditional mexican spices in anything here, which is probably why i like it so much. The food is light and reasonably healthy, something most mexican is definately not. Wahoos has also got that laid back surfer/skater attitude in all their places which is fun.

  • Carolyn G.

I've seen this chain far too many times in California, so what do I do? Don't bother trying it until going elsewhere...in this case, Denver. I'm very sensitive to spicy foods (i.e. I break out...not cool) so in some respects, the bland fish taco was a relief. But wow...I left with a full belly but very bored taste buds. There was a total lack of marinade or even sauce for the taco...tons of beans and rice, but for the price, I expected a little more oomph. That said, the service was super friendly and the clean interior had a fun vibe. Would I go to one in California? Only if I can't find a decent fish taco place nearby.

Wahoo's is definitely one of my favorite restaurants. Always excellent food, good happy hour specials, laid back atmosphere, and not too expensive. I am a huge fan of the banzai burrito. I am convinced the green sauce could make a blind man see and could probably stop all wars. I eat here all the time and it never gets old.

I give this particular Wahoos 5 stars, because the staff is supper chill. I go here about once a month an the food is always very good. The only thing more notable than the food is the fact that the staff go out of their way to make sure I am enjoying my meal. Only once did I order something off the menu that I didn't like, and they quickly replaced it with something more expensive at no additional charge. This certainly is not fine dining, but the food and customer service are 5 stars. Lots of healthy options for the food conscious at very affordable prices.

Wahoos is possibly my favorite restaurant ever. This location is awesome. The layout is pretty cool and the staff is great.

Well it is against my better judgement to write something nice about a restaurant because it is like the kiss of death for me when I go back. Something will go wrong, the food won't be right. Just Something.. But I do like the food there. It has only been about a month since I first went there and tried the place and now I find myself thinking about going there when I get hungry now. That must be a sign. I am the kind of guy that if I find something in a restaurant I like, I may order the same thing all the time. That brings me to the Banzai chicken burrito. You get a choice of grilled crispy or blackened chicken. Blackened being the spicy one. Then you get a choice beans.( I get it grilled with the black beans.) Add some rice and your choice of red green or nothing at all and you got a heck of a good lunch. I also usually get the #8 for my Dad which is the grilled fish on rice and your choice of beans again. He loves it and believe me you won't find a food critic bigger then my Dad, so all in all if you see this place when your going up Union some time or since there is a few of these around town give it a try. You might like it too.

it was a great experience to know such a place...it was casual, decent food and reasonable. This is one of the places I learned from a dear friend and still hoping I can explore places and try great finds like this.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
