Dino’s Italian Food Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

I kinda like the more dive-y Italian places - been around for awhile, so they usually have good food. Maybe this only works on the east coast? First, the good news.....We had the blueberry and apple pie. yummm Very good! Homemade, with homemade vanilla ice cream. 4 stars!! I recommend! We also had the pizza. As a native NY-er (who also once and awhile likes a good Chi-town pie) I have to rate this as not good. The dough was more like a soft bread than a real pizza dough (pizza dough should be slightly chewy and crispy on the bottom). The sauce was flavorless and also slightly sour. Not good. However, the toppings were great. Just can't give a pizza place a good rating just for its toppings. The wait staff had been there for years, nice and friendly. Decor was quaint, this is obviously a family business. I like the older joints, USUALLY where you find better food. Just not in this case. We're gonna try this one more time - gonna go for the meatball sandwich, heard it was good. I'll be back to update this review.... If you're driving by one night, stop in for the pie a la mode, but not the pizza. Update....Went back to try again. Had the meatball sub. Meatballs were ok - but the sauce was unacceptable. Very bland, I think its canned (I'm not a fan of spicy-hot sauce btw, I just like sauce that is flavorful). The bread also wasn't a sub bread - need the crusty somewhat chewy Italian bread. It was just soft fluff. Hey, in my opinion you just can't have a good pizza without the right crust nor a good sub without the right bread. And god, that sauce. Ugh. I think there are those that haven't encountered a good red sauce and really don't know the difference. That would explain the good ratings for this place. The stars again are for the pie and ice cream. The fruit pies are great (apple filling a little too underdone though). The pecan pie was the sweetened-condensed milk version, not the full cream and egg version so it was, well, blah. I tried the chocolate ice cream this time - it was creamy, homemade. But it wasn't chocolate-y. btw. I support local businesses and try to eat local all the time. Hence the reason why I use Yelp to find great local/family owned places. I just dislike chain restaurants. Something is lost in the cooking. I hate to give bad reviews to family owned places, but I have to be honest. My greatest pleasure is to find an amazing local place that I can give 5 stars! Unfortunately, Dino's just isn't it.

Continuing on with our effort to try all the places we drive by repeatedly but have never stopped at..It was time to hit Dino's. After all, any place that has been in business all these years, and survived the economy, must be something worth trying. I'll admit that when it comes to Italian food, I'm pretty picky - If I'm going to pay $10-15 for spaghetti, then it better be something special since I can make it at home for my whole family at that price and its damn good. Overall, Dino's is a family restaurant and the food, while still being good, is average - there is nothing unique or special about it. It reminded me of a diner from my childhood, with the dorthy lynch dressing and individually packaged saltine crackers for your iceberg lettuce salad. Again, I'm not saying the food was bad, it was just simply normal everyday food that I can cook at home. The place is HUGE and would be great for large groups - especially kids sport teams as there is plenty on the menu that kids would like.

If you're looking for good old school pasta this is the place to go. It's like going back to the 70s but great homemade past bread and sauce. Family friendly, quick service! Love it! Have been going for years!

We've been here a few times and although I don't dig the pizza, the pasta is pretty amazing, although the lasagna needs to have more cheese (and not ricotta). Amazing meatballs and my partner digs the sausage...I found it a little too spicy for my taste!! The pasta is house-made as is their ice cream, bread and I believe the tomato sauces may be as well. Unfortunately, the customer service can be hit or miss. The food is a pretty good value for what is served and it's hard to find places that actually MAKE their own stuff instead of buying pre-packaged stuff and up-charging like crazy.

Absolutely awful! We both had the lasagna. Won't go back.

Terrible service, it felt as though waitress had to force herself to be nice which seemed very hard for her!! Dismal food, salad was just lettuce with a pepperocini and bad Italian dressing (not to mention that's the only dressing choice) not worth the money. Positive that I can say, the homemade noodles tasted "homemade" Would NOT recommend it and I will not be going back!!

With one look at this place it was either going to be a hit or miss. Sporting a very old sign with red booths and red checkered tables I was a little doubtful how the meal would turn out. Unfortunately it was a miss. Just average Italian food that many of the larger chain restaurants will out cook any day. I got the homemade pasta which is reminiscent of picci and it was cooked well with a nice tomato sauce and meatballs. The salad was just iceberg lettuce, a few shredded carrots with Italian dressing and a peppercini. Although the meal came with bread and butter the server asked if we would like garlic bread so she can tack on another $3 to the bill. I really don't like it when servers suggest a starter without revealing the cost. I knew there was an extra charge but my boyfriend answered yes before I could intervene. It was just simple white bread toasted with some garlic flavor. Nothing exciting. A very blah dining experience that I don't care to repeat.

A childhood favorite and still pretty good 20 years later. Food is good but keep in mind that this has more in common with your mother's home cooking than a fancy Italian restaurant. For the money the food is just right. I've been to plenty places where I would have to spend double to get about the same quality of food. Decent food at a good price.

After glowing reviews from 3 coworkers about how awesome the food was, my husband and I went to Dino's for dinner. I have to say, I was not impressed at all. I ordered the manicotti and my husband got the lasagna. They brought out our salads and bread first and it was all downhill from there. The salad was nothing more than lettuce with shredded carrots. The bread (which I thought was supposed to be garlic bread) was just a few pieces of regular white bread. When our entrees came we were again disappointed. Our food was boring and unimaginative. It honestly tasted like Stouffer's. There was no pizazz...it was just boring. I did like the weird 1970's interior and the portions were huge. We had to practically chase down our waitress for refills (they weren't busy at all) and the waitresses kept huddling together to complain about the tips they were left as soon as the customers would leave the table. I hate to say this especially since I always try to go to Mom & Pop places instead of big chains...but you can get better Italian food at the Olive Garden...and that's just depressing.

Been coming here since the 60's when I can, I live in LA, CA now. Love there home made noodles, meat balls and the sauce, I really do not get anything else. Do agree the the salad is not that good, and yes the dressing needs something. Will keep coming back

My family has been going to this restaurant ever since I was a kid and I'm so grateful they are still in business 20 years or so later. I rarely make it over to that side of town anymore but it's always a treat when I do. The rigatoni has always been my favorite and I don't think any place could do it any better. Not too many options on the menu, but the noodles (and the ice cream!) are homemade, and I have yet to taste a better meatball. If you're a fan of Italian food and you like a good "family vibe", give this place a shot.

Add this place to the list of joints I'll go to if someone requests it. The pies were decent, but I'm not gonna be craving them any time soon. Although the atmosphere seemed a bit generic, we were able to have a good visit with the friends who had joined us, so thats gotta count for something. Overall, this isn't on our list of places to take folks from out of town, but if it ends up being the spot for a friend's birthday dinner or whatever, we'll be there.

Based on other's reviews, I steered clear of pizza. (thanks Teresa L.) Instead our group concentrated on spaghetti, ravioli and sausages and meatballs. I did like their sauce. The salads were iceburg lettuce with a drizzle of Italian dressing and a tiny bit of shredded carrots. I loved the sausage -and the meatballs were home-made..so that made up for the bread....cold sliced bread with no olive oil or seasonings...I did not even care to mop up the sauce with it. Clearly this place needs to update their menu. I am not even Italian and I could cook them under the table...use Romaine lettuce instead of stinking iceburg ! Serve toastedor warm garlic bread with the entree's....maybe offer a smattering of freshly grated parm on the entree' rather than the jar of canned parm that you have at each table! This might be a good place to take kids....it isn't a complicated menu, and seems very family-friendly. I would not take a date here though....

I have to start with a disclaimer: My parents dated here. We celebrated good report cards and birthdays here growing up. My rating comes with a HUGE dose of nostalgia, which, in many ways, is what Dino's does best. Dino's was there before all of the chains and before anyone in Denver had really tasted good Italian food. The red, checkered tablecloths and the bottle of parmesan powder harken back to the time before we had waiters with cheese graters hovering over our just-delivered, olive-oil drenched authentic Tuscan masterpieces and before our food IQs had been affected by the Food Network. Everything is the same as it was 30 years ago, and I actually like it that way (Actually, almost everything is the same -- they used to have real butter, which made the bread infinitely better, and they used to have a smoking section, as did everyone back then.) The salad -- iceberg lettuce with bits of purple cabbage, some carrots, homemade Italian dressing, a cherry pepper, and a sesame breadstick. To eat: Add LOTS of Parmesan and cut up the cherry pepper to eat in with bites of this. Dip the breadstick into the parmesan-y leftover dressing. It isn't mesclun or microgreens, but there's something comforting about it -- this is the only time in life that I enjoy iceberg lettuce. Pasta -- Always order the home-made noodles. (Even if you get fancy and want the 1/2 & 1/2.) The sausage is homemade and delicious. The meatballs are okay. Request extra sauce -- and sprinkle liberally with parmesan. The Bread -- As mentioned in other reviews, the bread is just bread, but it is good -- especially when dipped in sauce and parmesan (The parmesan is a pattern here). The Pizza -- is phenomenal. One of my favorite things. But keep in mind that it takes a while to bake -- patience is needed. Again, I favor the sausage -- which I still think is second to none. . . Sometimes I even get a server who took care of me as a kid. I love this place.

Anchovies. Wow what a great way to ruin a decent pizza. Can't remember much else about this place, but really if you want to try anchovies, get it on the side because sweet fancy Moses! Thats terrible.

My parents grew up in Lakewood and this was thier date spot in the late 60's after the football game. I've been there once to check it out. Great pasta!

I'll start by saying in my opinion this is the best pizza I've ever had. i know it's a bold statement but every other pizza I eat I have to compare to "Dino's". I know Dino's, it was my first job. loved it. they make all their own sauce/dough. the spaghetti is good, the sausage sandwich is divine. If u go grab a loaf of their home made bread, or a pie. if i could I'd give 10 stars.....

I disagree with most of the reviews here. I joined a group for dinner here on Super Bowl Sunday. I admit I was afraid after reading all these reviews. But, I had an awesome meal and an even more awesome price. The spaghetti and meatballs was one of the best I've had in Denver. The peach pie extremely tasty. And, the fact that they even had homemade spumoni on the menu for dessert was a treat. Service was good and friendly. Sure, the atmosphere was a little quiet - but I feel this was because the place is very big, and it was Super Bowl Sunday. Personally, I liked the decor - reminded me of a down-home family Italian restaurant - which it is. The best thing - the price. I had a glass of wine, the spaghetti and meatballs, and the pie for $13 before tip. Can't beat that!

  • Ryan L.

OK, this place has to be one of the original locally owned places in Lakewood. I'm a sucker for places that stand up and support local schools, so while the food doesn't rise to top, I'll continue spending money here. This place is poppin' at lunch time with the senior crowd, and nights are usually busy.

  • Andrew N.

Reviewers are complaining about the pizza, yes, do not get the pizza, but get the noodles and sausage or meatballs. The meatballs are so tender and good. I love the atmosphere of this place. It feels warm and the people are friendly and working class, not uppity socialites. And the lounge is so cool, it looks like a place Frank Sinatra would have hung out at.

This place is old style family Italian food. I love their Sausage Deluxe sandwich....the bread is awesome.....we buy whole loaves from them on occasion really cheap. My wife likes the pizza but I am not a big fan. Her parents on the other hand get the half and half with homemade noodles. Service runs from great to awful depending on when you go and who you get to wait on you. Over all I only really come for the one thing but homemade sausage on homemade bread is hard to beat. I think it is really a local thing.

Save your time and money. Service is horrible and the food is very very very bad! I got to say, the place should have been closed down a long time ago.

  • Tim S.

This place was touted as very good to my from one of my friends, so I guess I was expecting something different. It was sort of main stream Italian food. The pizza was ok, nothing to write home about and the spaghetti was the same, just ok. I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for good Italian food, but if you are just looking for some simple spaghetti, then this is your place.

    (2)
  • Amy H.

Granted, it was just one pizza. My co-workers and I shared it, and the consensus was boring. Not bad. The toppings seemed generous enough, but we will probably go somewhere else the next time we're in the mood for pizza.

Stop...just stop. You had me at extra cheese. Very good deep dish pizza. Huge place with red and white plastic table cloths. Definitely worth a trip to West Colfax. I was surprised by how empty the place was when we went to eat there this last Wednesday. As good as the food was I expected the place to be buzzing with people. Just to give you an idea of the pizza; if Pizza Hut's deep dish pizza was graded a C- then Dino's pizza would definitely be a B+. Lastly, I have to mention the garlic cheese bread; cut up pieces of bread seemingly dunked in butter and rolled in garlic salt. I ate two pieces and my eyes dialated from my arteries clogging. Good stuff Maynard. Good stuff.

  • Becky S.

I laugh at some of the other reviews. Yes, this place is like a retirement home. I think if they downsized and redecorated they could thrive - someone call Robert Irvine! But c'mon. The food was actually good! I got some spaghetti. Though I'm not a fan of Italian sausage in my sauce, it was actually pretty good. I think next time I will switch it up and get the regular sauce with meatballs. Now, I don't know about the pizza. I will have to come back and try that one. It's disappointing that I didn't get a salad, and their bread is just plain sliced bread - throw some garlic butter on there, please!

  • Joel T.

I enjoy Dino's and feel some of the negative views are definitely unmerited. The food here is not foodie, knock your socks off fare, it is simply homemade old school Italian. The noodles are handmade, thick and delicious. The sauce is simple red marinara. The bread is fresh. Come here for a simple meal with a group. Oh and don't whine on yelp when you dish contains an ingredient that you do not like, when you are the person who ordered it. Read the menu and know what you are ordering and ask what is in a dish if you need clarification.

The stuff is good, not great. I will return, though I won't go out of my way to do so. Btw, who makes garlic bread out of texas country white bread? Looked and tasted as if someone threw garlic powder on texas toast. Reccomendation, spend the extra few bucks and bring back some bread an italian restaraunt can be proud of. For the gb, and the sandwiches. Sandwiches currently thumbs down Though ill certainly try some pasta or pizza to see if they have something to offer.

My fiance and I heard so many great reviews about Dino's. Food is awful if you have any taste buds at all. TIP - Do NOT order any food as you will be severely disappointed. Instead, come for their awesome dessert. Homemade ice cream and pies.

I have a tendency to want to try any restaurant that is local and not a chain, so one day my girlfriend and I tried Dino's. I ordered the rigatoni, and we've been back about 10 times since. I got lucky since the rigatoni is the best thing on their menu. It's homemade and really good. The pizza is pretty blah, the lasagna not so good, but their rigatoni, homemade spaghetti and anything along those lines are great. It's simple "comfort" food. Yes the place feels straight out of the seventies and straight out of the midwest. We honestly consider that a plus. Not all restaurants need to be trendy and hip, sometimes old fashioned and simple are what you're after. The place is *always* packed, so they must be doing something right. It's not a problem though since it's also gigantic. We've never once had to wait for a table. As for the service, it's always been top notch. The wait staff are all very friendly.

    (4)
  • Vanya L.

The service here was excellent. The homemade spaghetti okay- the marinara spiceless and boring. The homemade cheese ravioli could have been frozen and I wouldn't have known the difference. The salad was limp and only one option was given for dressing: vinaigrette. The meatballs were good and the sausage bland. The pie here is supposed to be amazing but I didn't try it. For zesty homemade marinara and spaghetti I'll stick with the tried and true in North Denver: Patsy's. I guess I was expecting something similar here. The decor is outdated and not in the pleasantly kitschy way. I didn't necessarily have a bad experience, but with better options around, I don't know why I'd return.

  • Crys A.

The food here is simply awful. The service was fine, the place was clean, but the food? TERRIBLE. We ordered the lasagna, the homemade noodles with meatballs and the cheese ravioli. The meals came with a straight-from-a-bag salad which included Italian dressing so tangy I couldn't eat it, plus a couple of weird bread sticks that were hard and also out of a bag. The entrees were extremely boring and tasteless, and worst of all...COLD. My meatballs may or may not have been made in-house, but they were still bad nonetheless. And the "homemade" pasta? I asked if it was akin to fettuccine and the waitress said it was, yet when it came out it looked like spaghetti on steroids and was gummy, doughy and just gross. The sauce on top was like Ragu or some other awful sauce you'd get at Safeway. Worst offense is that we paid over $60 with tip for what essentially was swill. We will never, not ever, go back.

Haven't been to Dino's since I was a teen and went to Dino's Other Place. What a very nice flashback! Went in with a group of Friends on Friday night. Impressed that the service was pretty decent. The food on the other hand.... What you read about the food lacking flavor is pretty spot on sadly. While it was very good... I had the meatball sandwich and my teenage son had pizza. The sauce is missing something for sure... Same with the meatballs. Now the Cheesy Garlic bread was the BOMB!!! I want to make that at home all the time!!! Super yummy!!! Sadly we won't be back as I can make better sauce & meatballs at home.

  • Jamie L.

Yeah, No. Just not impressed. At all. Not even a little. I'd give it a 2-star rating, because of my long standing point of view on this Colorado Phenomenon of earthworm-sized "Homemade Spaghetti" noodles paired with famously bland "Famous" Red Sauces that taste largely of the tin can from which they were poured. But, out of respect for you Coloradans and my sense of history (this place has been here a long time. And it shows.)... I'll be generous. This place wasn't gross, per se... It's just that I find ALL of these "Colorado Italian" Joints to be one gigantic meatball of disappointment.

  • Jess P.

Why does this have so many stars? It was awful and expensive. It was pretty much the same quality and taste as an italian tv dinner. Very disappointed. Use some garlic. Taste what you are cooking!

  • Jesse H.

Gordo's (44th ave. grill) and Dino's were two places we loved going to as kids. They both are a taste of Colorado history, and were once on Colfax together. I've always enjoyed their lasagna and spaghetti w/ meatballs. The bread is good. And I personally enjoy the salad with Italian dressing, along with the sesame seed bread sticks and cherry peppers. As kids, we LOVED their shirley temples, order one for the kids to make them feel like they're getting something from the bar (making them feel special, maybe a little more grown up), they'll love the taste, too! One of my stars might for nostalgia, but I took one star away because I feel they can be a little too pricey.

Had meatballs and spaget ,mushy meatballs, very bland sauce, store bought bread ,overpriced really not what you would call fine dining, definately would not come back, how it lasted from the 60,s is hard to believe

Reliable inexpensive Italian food and genuine staff. Good place for a 20th date. The place has a Boston diner kind of feel to it (or a Napoli feel if you've been to Italy), not upscale but inviting and clean. The staff attitude is humble but east-coasty, so they're more like people you know than robot-nice tip junkies. Tons of room, booths or tables, large families fit well. The menu is well organized to boot, good drink variety. Appetizers are typical and lack identity (iceberg salad and toast WTH), but most entrees and desserts are great for the price. Vegetarian and gluten-free options which are surprisingly good, and plenty of fresh meats that never disappoint. Meatballs and spaghetti are notably fantastic, as well as the vegetarian and gluten-free pizzas (add jalapeno!) With 5 well fed guests, the check was $60. Pretty awesome in my opinion.

WOW... wait a minute. Three stars people!!!!!?? I have never met so many haters on yelp. First of all. The family marinara sauce at this place is TO DIE FOR. The House made bread is fluffy and amazing!, and the sausage will make a vegetarian convert (I would know). Even the baskets of bread and butter are like magic to ones lips! Whenever I walk in the front door of this place the amazing aroma of the Dino's family Italian cooking hits me in the face like a pillow of nom nom! After moving from Colorado to Chicago I crave for the taste of Dino's deluxe sausage sandwich, spaghetti, or pizza inside my lips. That's right, even living in the capital of pizza and Italian, Chicago, I pine for my long lost Dino's. It's not just their Italian food. Their burritos and hamburgers are great too! Whenever I visit Colorado the first place to eat is Dino's! Accept no substitute. When your hungry, eat some Dino's, don't hate. If it was up to me I would eat it 7 days a week. [[mic Dropped]]

My favorite spaghetti, period. I can't speak for anything else besides the homemade noodles and meat sauce. So delicious! I can't ever order anything else. Take out is super affordable. Eating-in is reasonably priced as well (dinner includes a soft drink, salad and bread). Their house Italian dressing is one of my favorites too. This isn't trendy Italian with fancy frills. This is old fashioned, comfort food. A neighborhood favorite for 50+ years!

The service was great, and the food was delicious. The salad wasn't very good, but the tasty spaghetti and bread made up for it. I would definitely come here again.

Just not good anymore. I went there Feb 15th with a party of three. We were seated quickly and given water but then the waitress went off to "Visit" with patrons in the bar area. After 15 minutes she came back only to visit with the table across from us. It would seem that her daughter or her granddaughter and her baby were visiting. The waitress took our order - finally, and just before we walked out. The waitress was so distracted by her visitor that I had to get up and pour my own coffee 3 times for lack of service. There were other waitresses standing around, but this waitress continued to lavish food and takeout boxes on her visitor while everybody else waited for service. I assume our gal was an owner or relative lest she be fired. Not many customers in the restaurant for an old neighborhood staple. My tip represented my level ofservice I am sorry to say. The pizza was ok but lacked veggies. Sorry for Dino's passing, because this place has gone downhill; he would not be happy.

Been eating here for 45 years and the pizza is still the best around! The pizza is still slow baked and the crust is light...a perfect compliment with the toppings. The fresh baked cheesy garlic bread is great too. To me, consistency and fresh tasting food like this is what makes a restaurant stand the test of time.

Wowie! Lotsa haters out there! I've been coming here for 20+ years (Jesus, how old AM I?) and never had a problem with the food or service. We went last night, picked up a large pizza and two slices of pie, and totally enjoyed our meal. Enough said.

  • Anita B.

All around terrible. I ordered the Lasagna which is what they are known for and the entree hardly had any flavor. It came with a disgusting salad made of only iceberg lettuce and their homemade dressing that was so bland; it tasted like nothing. My friend's both ordered pizzas that were completely undercooked and bland as well. The service was alright until after I pointed out that the pizza was completely undercooked. They offered nothing for their mistake and made us wait 15 minutes after we gave payment. Do not come here.. The menu does not have many items which I was surprised about; should have been weary right then and there. I would recommend finding somewhere else to enjoy authentic Italian.

Been a couple of times. Menu items are decent. But the pizza shouldn't be served for human consumption. Way to many other Italian restaurants around to bother going back.

I have had better frozen manicotti! Couldn't even get the kids to eat the pizza. Save ur money! PS look at the picture of their house salad & they charge $3 for this, I could make that for $1, yes it's cheap but so is the taste of the food!

Love this place! I have pictures of me as a baby eating here, so when my husband and I moved back out here, we made sure to come by. The place is doing great, it's clean and the staff is hardworking and kind. Also: gluten free pizza! YAY! This isn't the most amazing food ever, but definitely nostalgic and familiar. Will be back!

I ordered the Rigatoni with Meatballs. Mm The Cheese was nice and gooey. Good sauce with a sweet taste. The Meatballs were huge. Not a professional on italian food. But it tasted better than the Olive Garden Variety. And they made my friend a Custom Cherry Coke. She had the Shells with Meat Sauce and was so full she couldnt finish it. They also have Hamburgers on the menu but i dont know why you would do that. Very Family oriented restaurant. Might be better out their. But for the price this is decent. Have a nice selection pf Pizza's everything comes with bread and salad. They have a Togo Door as well.

  • Alexis G.

Went the other night. Not great. Ordered a deep dish 10", they ran out of small dough (meaning they probably use frozen preformed dough) so we got a large brought out to us no warning or option to change to a different crust. Extra side of pizza sauce was more like water. The handmade noodles were good & the meatballs were also good, nothing great. The meatballs were light and not dense, but again nothing great to say. Actually my favorite part of the dinner was the sesame seed bread sticks on my salad.

I have been coming to Dino's ever since I was a child. This place is very nostalgic for me and has never disappointed! They are family owned and serve authentic homestyle Italian dishes. If you're looking for traditional "American Italian" you will be disappointed. Their dishes are simple with perfect light flavor and are very filling! My Recommendations: Try their "Half & Half" with homemade noodles. This is a half spaghetti half ravioli dish. Combo pizza with uncooked tomato's on top Hero Sub (meatball) Homemade cinnamon ice cream mmm! They serve wonderful thick sliced bread while you wait for your entree. Their side salads are perfectly sized with a light Italian dressing (or dressing of your choice). If you have extra bread (or ask for more) take it home with you for some of the best french toast you've ever made! If you're ordering a pizza they will tell you that the wait can be around 35 minutes, so keep this in mind if you're in a rush. The wait however is definitely worth it! The service is always very friendly, if they're busy obviously things take a little longer. But we have never had a problem and are always very well taken care of. But when you come to Dino's, come to enjoy the atmosphere and hang out for awhile. After all it is a relaxed family atmosphere.

Disgusting pizza. That's all I tasted there, and it was so bad I won't be going back again. Ever. The pizza crust is like Pillsbury croissant dough- weirdly flaky and light. The sauce had celery seed in it, which I despise but can overlook in small enough doses. There was enough celery seediness that I couldn't get over it. I didn't even finish my portion. Gross.

We've been enjoying Dino's since it opened in the 1960's. We live 3 hours away but try to get our "fix" as often as possible. The homemade noodles are the real thing, sauce is yummy, and the pies are fabulous. When always buy a quart of the salad dressing to take home - so simple but so good. Does anyone have any idea of the recipe for the salad dressing ???? Would be much appreciated.

This is some of the blandest food I've ever had. Better Italian food can be made at home by even the simplest of cooks. The pizza was abhorently greasy and salty but otherwise tasteless. The spaghetti was home-made (Yay!) but cold and tasteless. Same with the meatballs. Our server acted like we were inconveniencing her by ordering. The plus side was big portions (Tons of leftovers we didn't want to eat!) The menu that hasn't been updated in ten years features hilarious tidbits like -NO Phony Toppings Used Here "Guaranteed" and -Taste the Quality of "Real" ingredients

I have been driving by this place for years and never thought twice about giving them a try. I think I had a bad experience with the Mexican place that used to be right next to it. Anyway, decided to go in and get a pizza to go. On the way in saw that they had this old school lounge so the hostess told me the dealio, which is to order take out at the front, and then I headed back to the bar. Which, was empty, and in need of a refit, from top to bottom, bottle to freezer. Ordered a screw driver, and that baby was mixed up with house before I could say "Stolis"!, Still, was the perfect libation to sip as I watched the Rockies melt against the power of the Padres. The pizza guy brought up my sausage, pepperoni and mushroom pizza in about 17 minutes, and I didn't hang around, I took it home. It had a crust which was kind of a Beau Jeus light for lack of a better turn of words, not as heavy or greezy. Really though, this pizza was in it's own league. Not sure what that league is, It's not Major League, or Triple A, maybe not even NCAA Division One, but it hit the spot pretty good this night. I'd do it again, especially if you live in the neighborhood, like I do.

Yum yum yum! I've been coming to Dino's since I can remember. This place has been in my family and will forever be in my heart with great memories and delicious food. I'm a huge fan of their Italian sausage and homemade noodles. Nothing says home to me more than a nice plate of Dino's spaghetti with homemade noodles and Italian sausage. Their meatballs are very good too, I love their ravioli and their bread is a family favorite. Their pizza is also one of the best. Their salad is pretty good. I always look forward to it with the Italian dressing, breadsticks and their peppers. If we ever have leftovers they don't last long. And Dino's is a place that my entire family can agree on dining at. The service is also friendly which makes the experience so much better. You can't pass Dino's up if your in the area. I live in Hawaii and I wait to come to town for Dino's!

Dino's is alright. We had the lasagne, sausage pizza, and cheesecake with strawberry topping. The lasagne was huge, but needed just a little something so we added Parmesan cheese, salt, and crushed chili pepper flakes. It came with a salad and bread which were both ok. The pizza was good, but again we added cheese and pepper flakes to it as well. The cheesecake was good. I'm not sure if it was home made, but it was tasty. I think the ambiance and the attentiveness of our waitress made the experience better. It's a very casual pizzeria and our soft drinks were refilled promptly. I'm not sure that we will return, but overall we were satisfied.

This is was a sorry excuse for an Italian place. We started off with the salad that had kraft American cheese slices on it. The ham was cut up sandwich meat and the dressing tasted like something right out of a bottle. The bread they served had to be bought from the grocery store. Now too the main course. The meatballs tasted horrible the "meat sauce" isn't fit for my dog. The pizza we had was terrible it tasted like cardboard with meat and vegetables on it. To top it off we took the leftovers home to our 14 year old 6' son and he thought it tasted like garbage! Now we did a little investigating on Dino's after our experience and come too find out when the father ran this place the food was exceptional, now that the kids run it they cut corners and the recipes are out of a box. The only thing that was good was the Coke I drank. If you're looking for good pizza in the Lakewood area go to the Edgewater Inn that place has great food, staff and cold drinks.

I've been going to Dino's for as long as I can remember. My family has been going here for ages to, after all, it's been around since the 60s. The service is always friendly and the environment is laid back. It's just good Italian comfort food. I almost always get the rigatoni or the deep dish pizza. They have the best sausage and the crust is amazing. I would definitely recommend ordering the thick crust, which I strange as I generally like NY pizza, but this is the only place I like deep dish.

I have been coming here since the mid 60s. I can't even count how many times. I live in Texas in the winter and Colorado in the summer and probably eat here at least 10 times. I always get the half and half (ravioli and homemade spaghetti) with their delicious meatballs. I'm never disappointed. I know you can get fancier Italian dishes elsewhere but if you want good pasta every time this is the place. The lasagna and Special Sub are really tasty too. And that's coming from my very Italian husband who was raised in St Louis.

I went here with my husband and brother on a Friday night. It was mostly families and the service was catering to that- super fun, nice, happy staff. Super warm and friendly place. We all ended up getting the same pasta (half home made spaghetti half ravioli) with different sauces. The homemade spaghetti was realllllllly filling (thick but so good) and the ravioli were great (I might have liked them more... Hey. Cheese. What can I say). We also had the homemade ice cream for dessert. It was great too, but I was quite full so I didn't really get to fully enjoy it. The only thing to note about this four-star review, is that I am taking into account what this restaurant is supposed to be. Family friendly, good food, large portions, homemade italian. If you want fancy or innovative, dishes this isn't that type of place. So bring a group and chow down!

This is a long time favorite restaurant of my family's for about 50 years. We took my grandmother there last night (Jan. 29, 2015) and was very disappointed. We ordered a large veggie pizza, two kids hamburger meals, and the spaghetti homemade noodles with meatball. When they brought the food out we asked for some fresh garlic for our pizza. They said that they don't have fresh garlic! What Italian restaurant doesn't have fresh garlic???? Then they brought the kids meals out 5 minutes after the others. So they snacked on this stale loaf of bread they put on the table. As for taste, I was not pleased... I personally thought the pizza crust tasted like box crust. The spaghetti and meatball came out cold and didn't seem fresh. The only thing good was the homemade noodles. We even decided to try the deserts. I got peach pie a la mode and my husband got the apple. They were both gross... The crust tased like pure salt... To top it off this meal cost our family of 5 $80.... Not pleased at all. Sadly, we will not be returning.

Read an earlier review that I appreciated & agree totally. If you want a great family style Italian outing this is a fabulous place. It's comfort food, well done & EXTREMELY well priced!! Service was attentive, and we went home with enough leftovers for lunch the next day. If I had a negative, it would be the Italian salad dressing... Marginal at best but overall we look forward to coming back. Oh & the desserts were excellent!!!!

WOW... wait a minute.

Why does this have so many stars? It was awful and expensive. It was pretty much the same quality and taste as an italian tv dinner. Very disappointed. Use some garlic. Taste what you are cooking!

Good stuff.

OK, this place has to be one of the original locally owned places in Lakewood. I'm a sucker for places that stand up and support local schools, so while the food doesn't rise to top, I'll continue spending money here. This place is poppin' at lunch time with the senior crowd, and nights are usually busy.

  • Amy H.

Granted, it was just one pizza. My co-workers and I shared it, and the consensus was boring. Not bad. The toppings seemed generous enough, but we will probably go somewhere else the next time we're in the mood for pizza.

  • Lucy S.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
