I am a fan of Dickey's BBQ. I have always enjoyed visiting the various locations. The location in Golden is good, but it is a work in progress. The food was tasty, and the service was friendly. They were busy on a Saturday night which is positive as far as business goes. The new store was clean, if a little cramped. Unfortunately, they were beginning to run out of things. The chicken was gone, as were the BBQ beans. This is not a huge deal, but it is something that cannot become common place. I am hoping it is just part of growing pains. I did enjoy my visit, and would consider it positive. I will be back. Hopefully they will improve, and it will be an even better visit next time.

This place is horrible. We are here house hunting and stopped by because these places are in Texas where we are from. Well, we ordered the brisket, pulled pork, and half rack of ribs. Well they asked us if we wanted the brisket sliced or chopped. We said sliced but when it came, it looked chopped up in tiny pieces. Honestly, it looked like the pulled pork. When we brought the food back because we thought they gave us chopped brisket, they told us that their brisket just falls apart like that when it's sliced and "that's how you know it's well-done". I mentioned that we were from Texas and that sliced brisket is usually in oblong slices that stay together. To this, I just got a puzzled look. We tasted everything and the reason why the brisket fell apart is that it was overdone and super dry. The ribs are advertised as "fall off the bone" but these thins were so tough and rubbery that my kids didn't want anymore of them after 1 rib each. This place does NOT know BBQ. I will state that we have been to other Dickey locations in Texas and they're food isn't like this. Even the rolls are different here in that they are not soft fluffy buttered yeast rolls but are dry square dinner rolls without anything on them.

This place is rough. Living in the neighborhood, I was excited to Welcome a new BBQ joint to my list of restaurant options. Well after one visit I will not be back. I had a brisket sandwich/rib combo. The guy sliced some pretty fatty looking brisket, chopped it, then proceeded to squeeze at least a tablespoon of grease out of it. This did not make for a good sandwich. The ribs were equally disappointing. Very little meat on the bone and what was there was tough. Save yourself. I will not be back.

I thought it was really good! Chicken sandwich, Mac & cheese and jalapeño bars beans were good. 3 types of BBQ sauce were good. Free ice cream was great!! Amount of meat on sandwich was a lot more than local competitors. Friendly service too.

I went here right after they opened and it was pretty good. I decided to go back and dine again and got the pulled pork sandwich, this time it was so fatty and terrible that I haven't been back since.

Great value, good food. This place is a weekly event for us. My wife and I typically get a two meat plate which gives us enough food to make two meals out of each plate. Another option is their daily special (Mon - Sat) which are under $10 and include a drink. Their food consistency was initially variable, but the last 6 months it has consistently been good.

Used them as catering for my wedding and they were SPLENDID! They set up and cleaned up independently and I didn't have to do anything. Food was awesome, as usual, and Don was so professional! One of my favorite BBQ places in Denver!

Dickey's is in a good location to welcome you to some BBQ. I was craving some pulled pork and the smells were very satisfying. However, my pulled pork was filled with chunks of bone which was surprising. The service was good the manager was friendly and helpful. They have free ice cream everyday. Kids can eat free on Sunday which is awesome, but i did not like the food enough to come back or recommend. I was disappointed in the quality but not the hospitality.

Disgusting. Lets start with the BBQ. The rib meat and the brisket we got was dry, and had minimal flavor. You have to dump extra sauce on it to even chew- and there isn't much meat. We also tried the Mac n Cheese and baked beans. Usually a pretty safe pick. Not at Dickey's; where the Mac n Cheese has the consistency of Velveeta soup with mushy chunks, and the beans tasted like spiced cheap brown sugar with no other substance. The food isn't food; its prepackaged, fake flavored, terrible and plasticky. Ok, so the meal was bad and we didn't finish our plates and threw most of it away. Lets at least get some free Ice Cream to make this $25 trip to Dickey's minimally better, right? No. So terribly wrong. The Ice Cream coming out of the machine literally tasted like cardboard. I don't know why. I don't want to know why. I don't even want to speculate on how the ice cream that runnily ran down the machine into our cheap cones tasted like cardboard; but suffice it to say we got food poisoning later that night, and obviously will not return to Dickey's. The service was ok - the overly enthusiastic teenie-boppers that were tending the store are just enough to give this place one star. Otherwise, I'd give zero. No ambiance, not especially clean and obviously poor food quality at a premium price. No, my friends, if you are looking for good BBQ here in Golden there are two different options; there is a food truck in the Conoco Gas Station off of Heritage Road and 6th; who puts out some mean BBQ and sides when he is there, Cash only though so watch out. And there is a more convenient option of Tin Star Smokehouse which is just down the road next to the 7-11 in the little strip mall which gives real quality BBQ, at the same price point as Dickey's.

Needless to say, it was just an ok experience. The service and the manager were very cordial and inviting, but many of the food items are in need to much improvement. My daughter is a Mac & Cheese fiend, and she did not like their version of this side staple...and that is saying something. It did seem them restock their M&C in the hotline, and it was squeezed out of a plastic bag...not very appealing and really just didn't taste good at all (we all tried them to verify her stance). I was a bit weary with getting the ribs here, so I decided on a sandwich that would most likely not disappoint and not be too dry: I got the Westerner with Beef Brisket and Polish Sausage. In my honest opinion, it did not disappoint. Glad that they had real cheddar instead of just 'American' cheese. For one of my sides, I got the Fried Onion Tanglers. They were a good side, but made better when I added them as an additional topping on my sandwich. The other side that I had was Jalapeño Beans. They were not too special. They had a bit of a kick, but still lack much flavor. And the beans felt a bit underdone. I can't imagine the regular BBQ beans being any better. My wife got Coleslaw and Baked Potato Casserole as her two sides, along with a Pulled Pork sandwich. Both her sides were good. I would order them both again, especially the Baked Potato Casserole. That was quite yummy. They appeared to add the additional topping freshly to the mashed potatoes, making a simple side worth trying. The Coleslaw is better than your typical slaw from the grocery store. A slight step up. My wife's biggest setback was that she found a bone in her pulled pork. Kinda scary, but not uncommon. Maybe just a fluke. My wife may not want to return because of this last fact, but I would be up to return to try the same items that I mentioned above as being quite tasty. The place may no be my first choice, but if I return, at least I am aware of what to get and what to avoid.
