A coworker of mine & I ventured in here thinking we would be encountering a Greek home-style diner and instead found a blast from the past - a Happy Days type diner. The restaurant is very smartly decorated and it really brings you into a diner like that featured in "Back to the Future" and is reminicient of Portillos (for those of you who know the midwest chain). Our waitress was sweet & attentive. I ordered the Philly Sandwich. Endorsed with a record next to its description, promoting it to be something special, I figured I had to try it. The claim was steak with peppers and swiss cheese. When I received my order, the poriton was HUGE! I had about 4 servings of fries on my plate and the torpedo bun was the size of my forearm. It looked and smelled delicious. When I bit into it, however, not so much. 1st, the cheese tasted not at all like swiss cheese but some kind of proessed sauce with chemical nasty flavoring. The bread was old and dry tasting and the whole sandwich lacked moisture. The fries were passable, but not very flavorful. I ordered a side of ranch with my fries, as I always do, and was charged $.50 or so. Had I known I would be charged, I would have tried the cheese sauce instead. I did decide to try a chocolate malt to go and that did not disappoint. It was thick and creamy and super tasty. All and all, I will certainly let this restauarnt pass me by in the future.

I love this place. Their burgers are amazing but what I love the most is the milk shakes. DELICIOUS!!

Used to come here all the time, but I received the worst service tonight. The waitress didn't show us our table, just pointed then continued to walk away. Sat for over 10 minutes before she came to our booth and instead of greeting us she said "the grill is closing in ten minutes what do you want". I was in shock but continued on with a good attitude. She then walked back to the kitchen and when she came back for our orders was short and rude. I never received my beverage, my burger wasn't cooked correctly, cheese wasn't melted, and my boyfriends burger was way under cooked and was missing practically everything on it. His blue cheese was foul, and his soda was flat. She never came to check on us and overall probably the worst service I have ever received. Defiantly finding a new date spot after tonight's crappy service

I am so shocked I've never reviewed this place. This is my favorite restaurant! The blue suede shoes burger is sooo good. The fries are great. I'm a fan of the 50's and 60's so its the perfect atmosphere for me. The shakes are huge and great. I love it here.

Meh Food was mediocre, wait staff was friendly. Not my first choice for real diner food.

Horrible burger, Horrible chili cheese fries, the service was good. I'll keep searching for a decent Diner in CO.

The place looks nice I like the flair. It's honestly not very clean and the foods not very good. I don't think I would recommend Gunther Toodys to anyone.

I used to eat at these tons! Really disappointed in how things have gone downhill. Burger was mediocre and the fries just plain suck

  • Caleb S.

Great burger joint. The Gunther's Premium is one of the best burgers I've found in town. Costs a pretty hardcore case of heartburn, but, worth it. Only problems are that some of the wait staff kind of suck and the ketchup at the tables taste like they've been left out. Still, great burgers, cheap, and kind of a cool atmosphere with the 50's vibe.

I despised this place. As soon as you walk through the door, the 50s diner theme assaults you like a punch in the face. I'm not going to rant on about it though because I had the choice to turn around and walk out, but I didn't (*Note to self: You are an idiot*). Thankfully, we managed to avoid getting the elderly female server clad in frilly petticoats, bobby socks, and flair that would rival even Brian in Office Space, who was obviously trying to come across as super friendly and kooky but who was actually quite scary and weird. Scanning the menu, I notice that they stop serving breakfast at 11. Wtf? Ok... So I order a BLT with fries, and a side salad with (extra) onion. He opts for the cheeseburger and fries, and the Clam Chowder. The soup arrives, and it is gross - thick, grey, gritty, bland, and just generally hideous. He chokes half of it down, and leaves the rest. Several minutes later, my salad arrives... Along with the BLT and burger. The server explains that the kitchen put the wrong dressing on the salad, therefore they had to re-make it. No apology given. AND there's no onion in the damn thing. Ugh. I'm now a wee bit pissed off. It doesn't help that my coffee mug has been empty the entire time. My BLT is nothing to write home about - not enough bacon, wilty lettuce - and the fries are totally mediocre. And of course, everything is cold because I had to stuff my face with the stupid salad. His burger, however, looks amazing, although it's kinda weird that it comes with a wheat bun. Never mind! Just then, the manageress/owner/whatever starts doing the rounds. "How is everything today, folks?" she asks, beaming, already moving off to the next table. "Meh," I reply. Immediately the smile dissolves from her face. and she gets kinda defensive. I explain about the salad and the sub-par BLT, then he asks about the wheat bun. The server is now hovering by our table, his Spidey senses telling him we aren't that happy, and he mutters "I'm SURE I told the cook to make it with a sesame seed bun." Again, there's no apology. The manageress/owner/whatever drifts away from the table, clearly not giving a shit. Horrible. Not even their "Order One Burger, Get Your Second Burger for 5c on Wednesday Nights" offer would make me want to go back.

Went a few months ago but forgot to post. Went there on a business trip. It was a wednesday sooo of course we had buy a burger get one... We both had bacon cheddar burgers. I had fries and he had onion rings. Everything was petty good you know basic diner foods. The service was fun. We also had malted milkshakes which were a blast from the past. It is a fun hoping place and great for kids.

Fun atmosphere, great waiter. Must try food is Green Chili Fries, Spicy Bloody Marys and the MONTE CHRISTO!!! OMG, no calorie counting here, its like a donut/sandwich and amazing!!! My bestie and I go on roadtrips every year and look for great indepent stops and this is a must when in this area for just fun casual fare :)

The kids might dig these burgers, but the best thing on the menu's their shakes. Mmmm

You really have to appreciate the 50's and the attempt this place makes to ensure authenticity. The first reviewer of this place needs to pull the stick out of her ass. As a lover of old times, and theme restaurants, I have to say that I WAS NOT entirely disappointed with my meal here. It was a fun atmosphere. My waiter was good. The food is cheap and in large proportion, and the "crappy BLT" that the other reviewer wrote about was good in my book. There was enough bacon, and my lettuce wasn't wilted. You're greeted when you walk in, and wished well when you leave. The food isn't incredibly unique, but it meets diner standard. There is a special every night; make sure you check their tabletops for the listing. My only complaint is the other patrons who couldn't seem to control their children from annoying the shit out of me.

You will not find a better deal anywhere period. McDonald's can't even dish out this much food for the price. And the quality? For $3.49 it is insanely good. The big bopper is hands down the best weekday breakfast deal in all of Colorado. The service was great. Ambiance was nostalgic. The place was clean. We will be back for sure. Keep up the great work and we are stoked to have found our new go to breakfast joint.

Biscuits and gravy were somewhat flavorless. Good consistency. Looked like biscuits and gravy. Presented like biscuits and gravy. But pretty much had zero flavor. It was an oddity. It was unlike anything I have ever experienced in my B&G search. I don't understand. It does not compute. I am dumbfounded. Shocked. Chagrined. I had to try them. It's my duty. Try them once. Glad you did? Not so sure. I'll go for a burger next time.

my favorite Diner style breakfast spot. Great vibes, friendly staff, decent food, Great prices!!!! Had the Big Bopper: 2 eggs, hashbrowns, choice of meat & toast - All for $3.49!!!! Now that's a bargain. Love the vintage 50's feel & music. Best breakfast place I have found so far in this area.

Green chili Jalapeño bacon burger and cheese fries, paired with a banana shake. That's all I really have to say. I will go further to say that the food is good and bountiful and not very expensive, though it's not necessarily unique. Our server's name was Bubbles, and our food was ready within 15 mins of ordering on a Friday night. The overstaffed crew was all lively and smiling. After eating at Gunther T's, I drove home in a food coma daze, laid down in bed and slept for 10 hours straight (a good end to a long week). Overall it was an extremely pleasant and easy going experience. You will leave happy. Order the cheese fries.

This is suppose to be a 50s 60s diner. It'd far from it. We got burgers and they were formed frozen patties. Nothing really special to wrote home about. If they actually had hand made steak burgers with better fries it would be a more authentic diner. Our check came to 35.00. It wasn't worth it. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Nothing special here.

I have always had very consistently good lunches and dinners here. I like how they are always open early. I was kind of upset that they took the one off Leetsdale away. I've always been a fan of Gunther Tooties. I usually like to get the same thing every time. I always find that I have a consistently good experience at all of the restaurants. The food is always good, and the service is always good. It's nice to have this restaurant so close to the target and in a convenient location.

We've been here on 3 different occasions and the previous 2 visits the food & service were spot on. Today the service was great but the food was just good. It was a little cold when it came to the table but we were starving. The food portions are GIGANTIC, prices are amazing, and my kids love the decor. We will visit again and we're just hoping today was an off day and our next visit will be like the first 2.

This place is great! The food and service were wonderful! The chicken fried chicken with cream gravy is amazing! The polish sausage is flavorful. The breakfast ham is perfectly smoked and very tasty. Gypsie is a great waitress, friendly and helpful! The atmosphere is fun and creative!!

They have without question the best chicken strips I've ever tasted: flaky, crispy breading; thick, juicy chicken. But you'd better plan on splitting the dinner portion. It's stupid big!!

Stopped here for breakfast based on someones recommendation. It's a classic diner that's high on schtick and decor and less so on food quality. I wasn't very impressed with my omelette or the potatoes but the service was quick and very friendly.

  • Danielle L.

My boyfriend and I came in late one night because I was really craving a malted chocolate shake. I really enjoyed the service! They were polite and quick. The restaurant is a little cold for me, but Im natually pretty cold. The way the restaurant was decorated reminded me of a 50's soda shop. Really cute. The Elivs fries were amazing, the chocolate malt really was thick and just the way a malt should be, and the burgers are delicious and served in so many ways. Great place to take kids or your family for a good bite to eat with a theme.

My experience overall was what I would expect from a diner. I found the staff to be nice and friendly. The inside was what I would expect from a diner. It was somewhat clean with fun 50's decor. I ordered the blt with cottage cheese. It was a good blt but its hard for me to judge the food overall based on that. A blt is pretty hard to mess up. The one thing that was messed up is that they brought me fries instead of cottage cheese. I told my waitress and she fixed it immediately. The one funny thing is that she told me that I would not be charged for the fries. I didn't expect to be charged for what they messed up in the first place. A big plus is that I didn't eat the fries but the waitress offered to get me a to go box for them. I was hoping when I went in they would serve breakfast at all times but they did not. I will probably eat here again at some point to try the breakfast so I can get a better idea of the food quality.

I use to come here all the time from Castle Rock. I loved the chili (green chili) cheese fries and best of all, their yummy real chocolate ice cream milkshake. Its the best!! I'm talking about a real chocolate shake made with just milk, chocolate ice cream and topped with whip cream not that bogus vanilla ice cream drenched in chocolate syrup crap, that's not even a real chocolate shake! People who make those should call it a vanilla chocolate flavored shake lol!!!

My favorites here are the malts, burgers. The monte cristo sandwich is also good but they only have strawberry jelly...not the customary raspberry jam. Service is usually good but a bit awkward. IF a host or hostess is present, they say "sit someplace between there and there"? If you seat yourself in the wrong place they make you move?? Just seat everyone already!

I met a couple friends at Gunther's for lunch recently. It was not too crowded on a weekday afternoon and we got sealed very quickly. The atmosphere is 'fun' like the 1950s/1960s decorated with vintage and reproduction décor from the era. The food is similar to what is found in a lot of diners - burgers, salads, comfort food and ice cream sundaes. I had a chicken wrap with bacon and my companions had a Monte Cristo and a burger with peppers (japapenos?). We each got fries on the side and Pepsis to drink - the waitress had an easy time with this order! The food came out fairly quickly in about 10 minutes. Everything was hot. Quality was good but nothing to rave about. Nothing wrong - just 'normal'. Prices were OK but not as cheap as expected. The sandwich, drink, tax and tip set me back about $15. We enjoyed eating here and would not mind stopping by again. The service, food, and atmosphere was all good. It's not a place I would go to on a special occasion, but it was fine for lunch.

Walked in by myself for dinner. Was just pointed a table to go sit at. My server didn't notice me until 5 min later. Finished my dinner and was ready to order dessert for almost 10 minutes before my server just brought a check no offer of dessert. I asked for it but literally leaving money on the table with moves like that. Probably won't come back to this location.

I came here for lunch with my coworker and his client. Since we're not from the area, we let him decide and he suggested this diner. It looked and felt like a Johnny Rockets, Mel's, etc. The wait staff was very friendly and funky and they had a lot of "flair" on. It totally reminded me of The Office but in a good way. We came on a Tuesday and the special is that if you order 2 drinks and 2 burgers, the lower priced burger is only 5 cents! Woo! The burgers weren't bad - kinda like Red Robin. It was good but I don't know if I would be back all the time just because it felt so heavy.

Fun. Superb. Excellent. This is how I would describe the atmosphere, service and food! We had Devon (aka Elvis). This guy reminded me of Jim Carey: Completely animated yet friendly and inviting. All the food came out hot with tons of flavor. When my fries came out, they forgot to make it Elvis style so I asked for the gravy on the side which is something I would HIGHLY recommend. That way, if you are a ketchup fan, you can enjoy the best of both worlds! I left here with a big smile and a stuffed tummy! The shakes topped off the night and we will definitely be back!

One Word: SPICYBLOODYMARY. Okay. So that's really three words that I smushed into one so I could use that phrase. So I had a Bloody Mary (which I almost Shorthanded BM, until I realized what an idiot I was), and a cantaloupe fruit bowl thingy with frozen yogurt int the middle topped with bananas. Now, usually, i would just order a Bloody and a giant Breakfast Burrito to kill my hangover. NOW I HAVE FOUND MY NEW HANGOVER FOOD. Who would have thought? Cantalope, yogurt and bananas may be my Sunday Morning Savior. I will call her "Domingo". No idea why I am naming my new hangover food the Spanish word for Sunday, but, hey, letting the words flow. Damn, now I have to find a Gunter Toody's in Bethlehem PA.

I am in the process of relocating to the Denver area. We were leaving my apartment on evening in Greenwood Village and the color and flair of Gunther Toodys caught our eye. We decided to give it a try. You are greeted as you walked in from someone, somewhere, no matter where they are. Decoratively, colorfully dressed servers are quick to assist you. Our service was fast and friendly. The place was not crowded... it was around 7;30 on a Thursday night... I tried the spicy chicken wrap.. and fries... my friend had a burger and Elvis Fries ( smoother ed in sausage gravy and cheese).. we both really enjoyed our meal... however sinful they may have been. Great, Fun Atmosphere, not fancy of top of the line food... it is a few steps up from Denny's and IHOP, as that is what the menu reminded me of. I was FULL when i left, almost in a food coma.. won't eat here too much.. but not because of the food... well,.. because of my need to go on a DIET!! hA ha...

You get a great deal for the price! Not only is the food good, and the Malts incredible, but the environment is really fun! First the food: $11 gets you a classic burger, fries, and a very large malt. What a bargain! They have a tasty seasoning at each table to add to your fries and the service was great. Loved that our waitress dressed in 60's attire complete with bright red lipstick. Second environment: I'm not sure the history of this place but it is a true 60's diner feel with a clean restoration. Stainless steel wall plates, neon lights throughout, a full 60's Harley motorcycle suspended between two booths, and half a convertible car coming out of the wall. 60's and 70's music plays through the speakers at just the right volume but a supreme classic sound. I told my wife "Do you hear that? This is an incredible stereo system!" Sure enough I looked up to see dual rows of speakers (maybe 25 total?) along the ceiling, all Bose speakers. They did this place right! Lucky for us we keep finding more coupons for this place on Amazon Local, Living Social, and Groupon, making it an even better bargain. Have been twice and plan to frequent it.

My husband and I ordered two malts, a Monte Cristo for him, and a Chicken Fried Steak for me. When I placed the order, I laughed and said that I would probably need a to-go box, because the menu warned me that people should only get it if they were hungry. When it arrived, I was definitely glad for my to-go box. Most of the steak and mashed potatoes went in--that was a LOT of food. The chocolate malt with banana was delicious, and so was the Reese's peanut butter cup malt. The Monte Cristo was AMAZING. Chicken fried steak was great, and potatoes, and broccoli, and the white sauce on the steak. Best of all, the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes still tasted great when I had the leftovers this morning. I was a little surprised/taken aback by the service, because my husband didn't warn me about that being a hallmark of the place. It wasn't mean or anything, I was just surprised and not expecting it. Once I realized it was all part of the atmosphere, it was easier for me to relax. I'm not too good with the banter, but my husband was, so it all worked out.

My husband had the day off so we dropped our daughter off at preschool and had breakfast here. I had the eggs Benedict. I can tell you, I have had better. The ham was sliced deli ham, not Canadian bacon and the sauce seemed like melted velveeta. gross. If I return I'll have one of those cinnamon rolls.

Today I stopped in to grab a big bopper breakfast. Food was served fast and tasted great. Waitress was very friendly and made a nice joke with me a couple of times. I asked for a straw and she asked if I was sure that I wanted a sissy stick. And she said it very loud.. and I cracked up had a great time and the experience was great! i recommend them to anyone looking for a good tasty breakfast and fun...

Expect cheese, expect diner fare, expect little old ladies living it large! The last time i had passed through the doors of this place was August 2005. This time, I had a coupon and friend that likes pretty tame food choices. So this was the location chosen! I arrived right around 11:30 and it was already hopping. I had not known that Wednesday was 5 cent burger day - buy one get one for 5 cents - with the purchase of 2 drinks. I got the blue cheese burger - it was yummy! I ate waaaay more than i should have and enjoyed every bite! The fries were definitely anh, and i would have expected better. I got a butter finger shake cause it seemed the thing to do - and mmmmm. Yummy! Love it when they give to the remainder in the metal cup! The waitress was bizarre. But i think that is a given. She was a little too touchy feely for me as well, but alas i lived! All in all, it is what it is, and if you want that, you'll get it. Not the place for me, but that's ok!

Went in hoping to find something healthy to keep my wife happy while on a business trip. First wiff of the air... thinking that I did not have a chance. Ordered the popeye salad for $9.99. Spinach salad with turkey, mushrooms etc. Was absolutely incrediable. The spinach was fresh, and not bagged from Nobel Sysco. Was so good, and filling and as I lay here n my hotel bed.... I am not poppng tums. I do not know if all the GT's use fresh spinach.

Go for the flair, not for the food. We took my in-law's and ourselves to Gunther Toody's for the first time last month. As fans of diners, we figured they would appreciate the theme and we'd talked about trying it anyway. It's definitely a fun place to go and seems to have some great deals (like the $.05 burgers on Wed) but my chicken finger platter was so drowned in fries that it gave me heart burn just looking at it. Everyone at my table commented on the fry overload. I may not have been disappointed if they weren't bland shoe string fries, either. Alas, it's diner food ya'll. Everyone seemed okay with their food, but no one was impressed enough to exclaim it. It didn't help that while our waitress was great, other members of the staff - including a manager - proceeded to have mild arguments and displays of affection all over the serving floor. I don't need to see workplace sexual frustrations work themselves out while I'm eating, even if it IS a diner. So, yeah, I've been to better diners. We probably won't return to Gunther's, even for the cheap burgers.

Diner food when I crave it. The burgers are big and has an OK taste to it. I like the Chicken Fried Steak and probably would just eat that from now on. The fried mushrooms are the huge variety and not my cup of tea as like the mini mushrooms. Check out ads and the entertainment book for 2 for 1 specials for this location. That is when I go!

You can never go wrong at Gunther's. The 50's atmosphere is like eating in a Happy Days episode, it's always a party and the wait staff is amazing. The big bopper breakfast is only $3.99, can't beat that!
