Hot dogs and ice cream? I know, I know. Sounds like something you have to be "in the mood for." My husband and I are from the neighborhood and resisted this place for awhile....didn't seem like it was up our alley. Ummm....WRONG. One visit and this place had us hooked. The hot dogs are obscenely delicious and fairly priced ... I am a vegetarian, and they have a vegan dog that is so good (I've had my fair share of "veggie" items...these are top notch. Seriously.). Two Colorado beers, a few hot dogs, some homemade fries, and .. homemade ice cream? Yeah, we exceed our caloric intake for the day in one swoop....but we are sold. Such a fun treat, and with our recent great weather...it had us reminiscing and talking about our plans for the summer. A perfect night!

Went here with kids. They were satisfied with the very plain, no frills dogs and fries. However, I thought the prices were high for what was very basic, not blow your socks off offerings. I prefer Mustard's Last Stand. The ice cream was better, but still not worth a trip out of your way.

I've been to this location three times now and based on my latest visit, I thought I 'd write a review. Today I tried the Buffalo Bratwurst at the suggestion of one of the friendly staff and I was extremely delighted! I ordered it sans sauerkraut and it was perfect! The sausage itself was juicy and full of flavor while the toppings complimented it to perfection (especially yummy were the grilled onions and spicy brown mustard). The Buffalo Brat is my new favorite here.I've also tried the Organic Duck sausage and the Tijuana Dog both of which were very tasty (the Organic Duck was my fav before trying the Buffalo Brat). My only wish is that they have one more bun choice other than Poppy seed or gluten free. Maybe a whole wheat bun? Now on to the fries! I've never been disappointed with my fry selection here. The first time I ordered a half and half (regular and sweet potato) and they were awesome! Hand cut, skin on and crunchy outside with a soft texture inside and lightly salted. Since then I've become more adventurous in trying the garlic fries and today the garlic pesto blue cheese fries. All of these fries were cooked fresh (one of the girls was cutting fries when we walked in) to order. I can't wait to try the chili cheese fries next! Now for the ice cream! I had tried the ice cream once before, but today they had a new ice cream maker named Jared. The cool thing was how passionate he was about ice cream and his job making and serving it. I must have tried 7 different flavors. He was friendly, patient and insightful with his suggestions. We had lots to talk about since I'm an ice cream nut. My absolute favorite was the roasted almond chocolate chip, delicious! Tied for 2nd were the banana chocolate chip and tiramisu. I also enjoyed his latest creation which was a cherry chip flavor. I will definitely be back!

My fiance and I stopped in for dinner on a weeknight, and even though I'm not a huge hot dog person, this place might convert me. So many options to choose from, just for hotdogs! And then there are probably 6 different choices for types of fries. Very good and one can't really complain about the price either. Definitely recommend.

I had such high hopes for this hot dog place. The first sign should have been at at noon, there was only one other person in the restaurant. I had the taco dog and it was disappointing. The hot dog was not favorful and the sauce (suppose to be green chili) was green but tasted like flour and then they sprinkled taco seasoning on the hot dog. I was hoping for something great and I walked away sad. The french fries are good. The lunch was about $10. At some hot dog places, they offer you the option of a 1/3 lb hot dog, or an all beef hot dog. It was sad and skinny hot dog with no options.

Billy's is the nearest thing to a Chicago dog that I found in Denver. I've transplanted to Denver a little over a year ago from the NW Side of Chicago and it's not bad. Toppings are all correct and they use a correct Vienna Beef Dog. It's not a true "dog stop" such as Gene and Jude's is in Chicagoland but I'll go back. The size of the dog is what a Chicago dog is and they are not meant to look pretty. My only complaint but this is common outside of Chicago is the price. You can get a dog and fries in Chicago for under $3.00 bucks but hey I'm happy just having a taste of home.

I've been here twice. Once alone and once with the kids. I drive by here every day and its always empty. There is reason for that. It takes a stupid amount of time to get your order. The magic of a good hot dog place is that its somewhat quick. Not here. Its also expensive for what you get. My overall feeling is that the owners (whom I've met as they were behind the counter) are not restaurant people. They probably did some back of the napkin business plan that said "hey, everyone likes hot dogs right? Beer...people like beer. Lets do a hot dog business! the products are super cheap to buy- we'll sell them at price consistent with other fast casual places, build a cool design-not like other cheap places and it will be huge! We'll build a hot dog empire!" Nothing here is original, the staff training seems to be an afterthought. It looks like the mentality was "If we build it, they will come". You were wrong. There is no reason to come here. I'd rather get the same, less expensive dog, quicker, in a place that looks and acts like an authentic dog place. This is not it.

The service was miserably slow. Two co-workers and I stopped in on a Wednesday at noon to order three dogs, two beers and an order of fries. We waited almost thirty-five minutes for our food. There were a few people ahead of us and a few people behind us, but certainly not a lunch rush. Bizarrely, there were only four paper menus, and customers were awkwardly passing them around to share. Anyway, I'm fine waiting for good food, but the hot dogs were utterly underwhelming. These are not glorious, thick, long, juicy hot dogs of Biker Jim's or The Uber Sausage. Billy's is serving average sized dogs you can finish in three or four bites. Similarly, the buns are soft, mass-produced, and virtually identical to any generic brand bun you pick up in the grocery story. Billy's charges $4.50-$5.50 per "specialty dog." The toppings were equally average. Mass produced chili topping without much flavor or spice and some sort of Velveeta-derived cheddar. We ordered the Coney Dog, Texas Tommy and Seattle Dog, and nobody was impressed. I was close to giving Billy's one star, but I ate the entire dog and enjoyed my beer, and nobody was rude. Having said that, I won't be back.

Billy's is a nice change from Biker Jims. My boyfriend and I were strolling down Broadway the other day when it began to rain. Hard. So we took cover in Billy's. Much to our surprise they served hot dogs. My bf's favorite. We weren't planning on eating because he had just treated us to a couple of Hamburger Stand chocolate dipped cones, but the smell of meat on the grill persuaded us otherwise. We ordered the Buffalo Brat which was delicious. The service was good and the ambiance in the store reminded us of a modernized 50's diner. They provide games for kids and if you check in on Yelp you'll receive free fries with your order. We do prefer the dogs at Biker Jims, but Billy's is much more convenient for us and so far did not disappoint. We will be back!

Hot dogs as good as you can make at home. Stay home and make your own, you'll be better off.

Service brought this from a typical 3-star hot dog joint to a 2-star place I'll definitely not frequent again. We should have known by the fact that the place was virtually empty at 8pm on a Friday night, but we went in and my boyfriend was concerned we'd misread the website and they were actually closed - the guys behind the counter did not look pleased to see us. We ordered a couple of basic items from the menu (I got the veggie dog made Chicago style) and my boyfriend got something wrapped in bacon. Our French fries were fried HARD - they were practically charcoal when we got them. The hot dogs were okay - not great, but not worth the 'gourmet' prices. Biker Jims this is not. The surly service and meh menu options mean we won't come back here. I suggest you don't, either.

How can such an average Hot Dog joint get to open up multiple locations and the truly gourmet one like Rock n' Dogs closed up shop? Sure, the latter was more costly but had MUCH BETTER buns, ingredients, toppings and taste. Out of the three I've tried, the salmon ("Healthy Fish Dog") was better than the Duck or Kobe Beef, isn't that funny? My problem is that the toppings, sauces, and bratwursts weren't welded together well enough. The Duck sausage had a funny smell and the Kobe Beef frankfurter had a good bite to the teeth but again, I would've been happy with Costco's $1.50 Jumbo Hot Dog and large soda combo. (Billy's fountain drink is $2 for a small cup, although refill is available). We had the Half and Half fries. The sweet potatoe fries were pretty good. For the regular fries, I asked for them to be "garlic fries". Guess what? They just threw some supermarket pre-minced garlic (the one you find in big plastic containers with lots of liquid) on top. By this time I'm too turned off to try the ice cream, even though they have quite a few interesting flavors. The restaurant is spacious and clean, looks news. There are several families dining their with kids. Must be a pretty good spot for such gatherings. I liked their orange themed decor and the website is a breeze to look through. But that's about it.

The weiners were smaller than expected (twss). The bacon 'wrapped' dog was simply a piece of bacon sitting next to the dog. Come to think of it, I didn't actually even taste the bacon at all. The 'grilled jalapenos' looked like green peppers, and had zero flavor and were definitely not grilled. The onion rings were about $1 per onion ring (but were good). $10 spent there only filled me up about 2/3 of the way. Fries were mediocre. I'm not sure what was 'gourmet' about the hot dogs. I ate here with 4 other guys and we were all disappointed with our various choices.

This was our second visit for lunch using a Google Offers deal. We were the only ones there (maybe because the Denver Broncos were playing this afternoon). The cashier was friendly and the food came out fairly fast. We ordered the Seattle Dog (too many huge pieces of barely grilled onion, good cream cheese), Bronco Billy Dog (our favorite), and the Denmark Dog (too many pieces of diced raw onion, good crispy onions) with an order of Garlic Cheese Fries (not enough garlic or cheese). The prices were high for what you got even with the coupon. We probably won't be back.

Gourmet hot dogs? Really? One of the worst hot dogs I've had First of all, tiny. Second, a weird texture, almost like a tofu dog, maybe because, third, they're boiled or maybe steamed (for who knows how long). Fourth, dog had no taste at all. Fifth, icky soft bun. Lastly, I asked for "grilled onions" (expecting the caramelized onions you get from the hot dog carts in New York and some Home Depots), and got large chunks of raw onion that may have been touched the grill for a few seconds. I described the grilled onions I was expecting to the guy at the counter -- first he'd heard of 'em. For $9.50 for a dog, a small drink and some fries (which were pretty good, although no seasoning), I'll stick to Home Depot (when I'm not in New York) and pay two bucks.

Ok food, the price is way off. I ordered a hotdog, cheeseburger and a drink. $12 bucks seems a little high for average food. Maybe I am just used to Chicago. No comparison in my opinion.

  • Kylie I.

The staff genuinely cares that you are having a great experience! The Chicago Dog was DELICIOUS and the onion rings are second to only My Brother's Bar. It was a little pricey, but fast service and nice people!

Went here before a concert at the Gothic theater. I have to say that the place has some potential but my over all experience was just so so here. I ordered the duck dog and they said it would take over 30 minutes to prepare so I then changed my mind to the Buffalo dog and although it was good I couldn't really determine what made it different from any other dog because all I could taste was mustard and sour krout. I probably will not be going back anytime soon because who wants to pay over $10 for a specialty hot dog that doesn't taste that special. I did like all the garage doors to open the place up and it was nice to have a hand full of local beers on tap. Good luck.

  • Big Daddy H.

I must sat I was a little disappointed. $30 was a bit too extreme for this place. The hot dogs were average. The garlic cheese fries would have been a heck of a lot better with something other than the bargain basement cheese sauce. I mean...garlic needs something more than just the cheapest nacho sauce you can find from a food distribution company. Won't go back.

  • Abigail D.

Pretty good. A little pricey though, $27 for 1 hot dog, 1 burger, 2 fries and 3 drinks. The manager was pretty brash too but the man I ordered from was nice. I'll go again, but not with high expectations.

Service with a side of... I created my Yelp account specifically to rate my experience with this establishment, to say it was a disappointment would be understatement. We called for a take out order from the website, straightforward right? The establishment has two locations, as we live in Englewood, we called the number from the website and placed our order. When I walked into the store to pick up my order, I was greeted with a friendly 'we don't have an order for you'. I stated that I had called in 15 minutes ago... 'ok, we still don't have an order for you' ... I then learned that there is another location, I had called the downtown location, the website only has one phone number, I was then advised to go downtown and pick up my food because they did want them to throw it out... the gentleman then yelled at the teenager in the back to come and make more fries (there were only 4 people in the restaurant). And there I was, and that was the solution, so I acquiesced, and drove downtown... after all, I guess I had made the mistake and called the only number available. When I did go downtown I was greeted by a friendly team of individuals and explained my situation they said I had met Billy... the owner, apparently heavy on business, light on service and quality. And that would explain the $38 for 3 hot dogs, 2 fries and 3 shakes and nice little commute back to Englewood where I was then able to enjoy my 'gourmet hot dog'. Now, I'm not picky, but gourmet to me implies quality or something else besides bad. Maybe this is tough with a hot dog, but I feel at the minimum it should fill the bun, and have a nice 'snap', right? My dog was boiled, the dogs on 16th street mall put this to shame... it was mediocre at best, also it appears that Billy does not like to distribute tips to his employees, not sure what the Yelp ramifications are for that but it certainly notches him higher up on the DB scale. So there you have it... if any of this sounds appealing, by all means, prove me wrong, but if I was able to dissuade you to try a different restaurant with your hard earned dollars, maybe check out another small business that cares about customer service and quality.

Good quality hot dogs and fresh buns are negated by the chili topper that's only marginal and served cold. They charged me twenty cents for a cup of water. $4.75 for a hot dog apparently isn't enough of a profit. I won't be back.

    (1)
  • Jennifer W.

Billys is always good but pricey! The food is consistent and the service is always excellent. If you are craving a good hot dog, fries and cold beer, go here. I recommend the Bronco Billy dog add bacon.

  • Alison K.

A hot dog restaurant? What a novelty! Billy's is a good example of a trend in Hot Dog Specialty Restaurants. As the name suggests, Billy's offers mostly hot dogs, "not dogs," and sausages. You can also get specialty fries and local sodas or beer if you like. A few classic burgers, no tacos -- there is the Taco Dog -- and a couple of "fancy" sandwich options. Also, they serve ice cream. (Personal favorites: Veggie Dog, Buffalo Cheddar Sausage, Garlic Fries.)

A friend and I went to Billy's last night and I thought it was quite odd that we were the only people in this joint at 8pm. I do have to say the counter staff was quite friendly. They have games to play while you're waiting for food and while you're eating. I actually had a blast playing Truth or Crap... But then there's the food. Don't get me wrong, it's not horrible and given that we were told they have this shop and 3 street carts, people must like it, but it's nothing special. Both my friend and I chose to order things that were made "in house." I personally had the buffalo brat sans sauerkraut. It was good, but it definitely was not an experience that made me think "I need to have this again." The biggest disappointment was the fries. We ordered chili cheese fries and these just seemed to be smothered in things right out of a can. For two hot dogs/sausages, one chili cheese fries and 1 beer, more than $20 seemed excessive. I'll be sticking to my usual haunt for "gourmet dogs."

  • Kevin S.

I was not too impressed. When reading 'gourmet' hot dogs my imagination went wild. The fries were good- skin on would of been better if they were hit with a little salt as soon as they were pulled from the fryer. The gourmet hot dogs were a major disappointment. The dogs were cooked in water ... Even 7-11 grills their dogs. I wanted to try the Angus dog, but they didn't have them. Sorry on a weekend especially in the summer no excuses for non availability. The toppings on my dog were "jalapeño" which was more reminiscent of green peppers and cheese whiz. Sorry Billy, it was far from gourmet let alone good.

Awesomely fresh ingredients! Hot dogs had that perfect snap to them and so many options to choose from. My daughter had the corn dog which reminded me of the good old days before a microwave! It was a corn meal batter and the batter went all the way up the stick! Amazing! We will defiantly be back!

We wound up here because we didn't realize the place we were going to stop in at wasn't open on Sunday evenings. I'm a fan of hot dogs so I was pretty jazzed about giving this place a whirl. When I mentioned to the girl behind the counter that I'd never been in before, she gave us a nice run down on the menu and when I asked about the chili, she ask the owner to come over and give us some more info. Personal service? Oh, yeah! Me and the hubs went splitzy on our choices so that we could eat try something different without having to just have a bite of each others. I ordered the coney dog -- great chili....and even better without the onions and a splash of mustard. Husband got the Tijuana Dog, loved the crunch of the jalapenos with the cooling sour cream. I'll be back. And I got the punch card.

  • Terry G.

I found this place while conducting some business nearby so I thought I would give it a try. The fries were good but the dog was nothing special, Biker Jim's and Steve's Snapping Dog's are much better. The lady at the counter was pleasant and the place was clean so no complaint there. I wouldn't go back because I know where to find a better dog.

  • Donna L.

A less than positive experience. Food was just okay, except for the vegan dog which was horrible. Service was marginal, slow and not very friendly. Tables were sticky, as in unclean. I definitely won't be a repeat customer.

Great dogs. Super reasonably priced. Games to play while you wait for your food. Go there. You'll be happy.

How can a place that specializes in hot dogs serve such truly terrible hot dogs?? They look good. The toppings are all fairly decent. The hot dogs themselves, however, are worse than the ones you can buy at 7/11. Absolutely disgraceful. Billy, whoever you are, you should be ashamed of yourself. Avoid this restaurant at all costs...unless you enjoy wasting $8 on a cold-in-the-middle, less-than-mediocre, cheap impersonation of a hot dog. I'd rather eat grass.

    (1)
  • Zahara S.

I had the Denmark Dog. Brown mustard with onions, pickles on a steamed bun....all for just $4 and it was DELICIOUS. Very casual...I am hearing good things about their fresh cut fries, but I'm just not a french fry gal. It would be perfect if they had say something called a Boulde dog with a steamed whole wheat bun. Soda pop had plenty of carbonation. Just my personal pet peeve. I liked their hot dogs so much better than what they serve at Coors Field.

  • Shiloh C.

Often I love exploring new places and this was no different. Their food was average. I had the Italian beef sandwich that was not at all what I would get in Chicago. My son had the corn dog and that looked great but when he started eating it, it was filled with oil from the fryer. I did however love the cheese fries!

  • Andrew F.

Service was very good and very friendly. Everyone wants to compare this place to other similar restaurants, but to me, on it's own merit, I thought the food was excellent. But I'm no high and mighty dog connoisseur either. Pricing was very reasonable too. I had the 24 hour dog and it was one of the best dogs I've had in years. My friend had the Tijuana dog and it looked amazing as well (he loved his too). Only complaint was the fries seemed a little small for the price, but they were still great--I got Garlic Cheese fries. The home made Gelato is also very good. Overall a great experience with great food. Will recommend to friends for sure. I also didn't have to drive all the way down town (like the other dog places) which is a big plus if you live on the south side of the city like me.

An almost expired Google offer brought Mr. P. and I to Billy's for a rare Sunday lunch outing. We were warmly greeted right away and one of the friendly employees guided us through the menu after we told him we'd need a minute to decide since we'd never been there before. We ordered a Billy Dog, a jumbo jalapeno and cheddar stuffed dog, and a pork bratwurst. We also got an order of Billy Fries to share and I just had to have an Oreo milkshake, a decision I absolutely did not regret. I'm a purist when it comes to hot dogs. Really, all I find necessary is yellow mustard and a smidge of ketchup. I opted out of the onions on the jalapeno cheddar dog and if there was cheese stuffed inside, I didn't notice it (which is why I'm thinking I had just a jalapeno stuffed dog, which was perfectly fine). Since I can't seem to get enough jalapenos these days, this dog had a great bark and the bun was soft and fresh. Mr. P. loved the brat, even though he would have been happier with more mustard. He said he would gladly return for another. We both enjoyed the Billy Dog and, despite all of those unnecessary toppings, I would order it again. Now, the fries. Other establishments touting famous fries should take a lesson from Billy's: hand cut, skin on, lightly salted, not frozen. Pretty simple when you think about it. And simply delicious. Like that Oreo milkshake. I don't often find myself on this stretch of Broadway but now I think I've found a reason to go. Hot dog!

Friendly staff and the best of all is the variety of delicious hot dogs. I have tried 4 types of hot dogs and all of them have been superb. Additionally the shakes are to die for. I highly recommend it.

  • Shea S.

Service was really friendly and the prices fairly reasonable. For $2.50 you get a heap of home-cut fries fried to a perfect golden brown. My hot dog was $4, which wasn't terrible; however, I thought when I last visited Billy's (the downtown location) I got more dog for my dough. The amount left me wanting a little, though the fries did a good job filling the void. The options aren't quite as creative as I recalled either. Then again, I had consumed a fair amount of beer that day, so my memory isn't 100% reliable. A good option when looking for a quick bite before a show at the Gothic. There are better gourmet hot dog and sausage places in town, but Billy's is still a nice choice for something simpler and a bit more affordable.

I was really excited to take my family to Billy's Gourmet Hot Dogs for dinner but I must say that the word gourmet is really stretching the truth. They use hot dogs with the same consistency and size as a Oscar Meyer hot dog and charge $4.50 for it. The toppings are excellent but way over priced. RECOMMENDATION: The Chili Cheese Fries are excellent and worth the $4.50. Outside of Chili Cheese Fries, the food is simply too over priced when compared to what you get. I recommend the owner seriously consider getting a real Chicago dog to make this a more worthwhile experience. Until that happens, I cannot recommend this restaurant for gourmet hot dogs.

  • Kyla S.

I was a little disappointed that they don't toast their buns, and to me it was a little over priced for what it was. I have had better, but had to try this place out. The best part of the meal was their fries. Great fries, but the green chili we got on them tasted like it was out of the a jar.

    (2)
  • Good Quill H.

Won't eat there again. Absolutely the most horrible chili dog I have ever had. Pour over cheese?? C'mon and for $4.50 for one crummy chili dog??!!! I was so mad we went out on a limb to try something different. Now I know why I don't ever dare try new places.

Love this place most of all, not to mention its walking distance from my business. My fave, the Texas Tommy. Simple and delicious. In fact, the garlic bleu cheese fries are epic as well.

  • Annonymous C.

There are few times in life when a man is as disappointed as I am now. The service was okay but could be better the man there was extremely annoying and the food especially the Texas tommy tasted deplorable. I am never coming back here in 100 million years in any universe in every multiverse theory. I hate this place.

  • Melissa A.

It tastes average. Though the milkshake was good. And the billy dog was good. But the coney dog and the tijuana was bad. The Tijuana had absolutely no spice in it and I asked numerous times for no sour cream, and they put sour cream on it. There were no customers in the building so our order should have been very simple. The food had no flavor and we will not be going there again.

  • Kat O.

My favorite place to take the kids. The kids love it since there are board games to play (Candy Land, Fact vs. Crap are their favorites) and they love the corn dogs and fries. We love the gourmet hot dogs, especially the Seattle and the Tijuana and variety of french fry toppings. It's a cool atmosphere with fun lights and decor, the staff is always friendly and helpful, and they always remember us. Also, the peach gelato is super delicious.

  • Jay R.

The hot dogs are good enough here. They have a lot of cool options for different specialty dogs and overall the flavors are good. But they are not great. And for me to pay 5+ for just a hot dog, it has to be great. I would not say you shouldn't go to Billy's. The staff seems pretty friendly, the decor in the restaurant is pretty cool, but the hot dogs are pricey for what they are, and their side options (I have had the fries) are just so-so. If you are willing to spend a lot on a hot dog, then no reason you shouldn't come here. But I will make the drive to Snappin' Steves or Biker Jims next time.

    (2)
  • Sarah H.

Not the worst, and I've certainly never had a bad experience there, but I find myself going back hoping to find something good and coming away disappointed. The hotdogs are just hotdogs with toppings. The chili runs a bit on the bland side and the fries are under salted. The sausage options are okay, but if you've been spoiled by Biker Jim's like I have been, there's just no comparison.

  • Taylor S.

What can I say it's amazing!!! The food, the service, everything. You have to try the elk dog and ice cream. Thank you Billy's.

My co workers and I were super pumped to have a dog for lunch, called twice and there was no answer. This was kind of strange for a place that is very busy. Called once more ten minutes later and the guy who answered the phone said Hello, and then Hey its gonna be a min, which being a (Chicago Native) I completely understood, but I did not understand the 10min phone wait while i hear conversations in the back from 3 different employees. Yet and still no one took our order so we hung up. Very disappointing customer service!!!

  • Austen H.

I dig Biker Jim's I dig the specialty dogs they make but I really do like going to Billy's. The people who work there are great and I have never had a bad dog there. They also make their own ice cream (SO GOOD). I've found I'm found of the Denmark Dog and I like their fries. It's a great place to grab a dog and I am sure when my daughter is old enough she'll like it too. It's convenient and it looks really nice and they keep it clean inside.

Ilene and Anthony rock! They were very polite and offered the best costumer service. You do not see that kind of hard work any more! And it is very appreciated! Love the food too! All the fries were delicious and the hot dogs were fun too! Definitely will recommend this place to friends and family AND we will definitely be back! Thanks Ilene and Anthony!

So I got a chance to read all the reviews for Billy's Hot Dog...and I'm going to be the first one to disagree on all of your reviews....You guys are not good yelpers & don't appreciate a great hot dog. FIRST and foremost.. where the HELL do you find a toasted hot dog bun? You are nuts to even want that! It's not a hamburger folks. Anyways..i'm not going to review other peoples reviews.. I'm going to place my stand on what I think of Billy's Gourmet Hot Dogs... I love that its close to home & I don't have to trek all the way downtown for a Vienna Beef tube steak..YAY! I do have to say the hot dogs are a bit pricey but when you find a place that makes a "Chitown" hot dog the way it's suppose to be made.. i'm ok with paying $4.00 a dawg. Oh and by the way, their fries are delish! Cheese fries are the BOMB.. and i'm going to make sure I go thru all their different hot dogs & their sides. I wasn't really a fan of their "DENMARK DOG" I had a bite or 2 and it tasted like Oscar Mayer Liver Sausage. I'm thinking its the Special Remoulade that comes on this dog. The JUMBO JALAPENO CHEDDAR DOG is pretty good if you like spicy. This place also serves alcohol as in Beer & Wine. I didnt see a huge wine selection but they have microbrews on tap which is a nice touch. Atmosphere is cool & relaxing..orange decor. They also have board games to play with friends on a weekend afternoon or night. I'm a fan. great job! Also the staff is very nice.. they don't talk much but they are polite.

Good place for kids, nice staff. Quality is low and not worth the $. Atmosphere is nice. Here is a fun game to play while you're there: read through the menu and spot all the grammar and spelling errors!

Decent stop, but my memory kept pointing due north. We live near this establishment, so we came in for dinner with the kids (ages 6 and 4) one evening. They had a kid's hot dog, while I had a specialty hot dog topped with apples (can't remember what the dude had). I'll be totally frank: the entire time I was comparing this place to Biker Jim's. And really, can they blame me? The interior is very industrial (metallic trims, simple furniture, full windows), the menu tries to be similar... and their title hardly fell far from the Biker Jim tree. I need to find out which came first, I suppose. They provide beer and soda, though the latter was standard name-brand offerings rather than the ones at BJ's flavored with pure/natural sugar. Their ice cream was quite tasty, however - the one leg-up, in my opinion, they have over BJ's. So I could see stopping there after a bike ride around Englewood to enjoy a cool-off cone. I'll still drive the additional 15 minutes to hit Biker Jim's for a really tasty, special hot dog. This is a nice neighborhood substitute - but that's all it is in my opinion.

Billy's is just fine with me! I had a groupon type deal worth 10 bucks. The hot dogs are the same vienna beef dogs that you are gonna find at other places, as are the poppy seed buns. I ordered the bacon wrapped "tijuana" dog. It was pretty damned good, also being topped with avacado, onions, and jalepenos. I also got the chili cheese fries, which were a nice indulgence. Wonderful, thick cut, crispy fries topped with red chili and nacho cheese sauce. The service was great. A very friendly girl explained the menu to me, and checked up on me later. Overall, Billy's probably won't knock your socks off, but it is a solid hot dog joint, and somewhere I would visit again.

Mark this one off your list. We had wanted to try Billy's for sometime after passing by it several times. Well it was 1:15 on a Sunday afternoon no Bronco game mind you and what we witnessed was an exercise in how not to run a restaurant. There were 4 people ahead of us and it took 15 minutes waiting in line for our order to be taken. They were out of Brats so we settled on a regular dog and a polish sausage. The woman ahead of us said we had to try the fries so had to have those also. The place was not very busy so I didn't understand why it was taking so long. It didn't take long to figure it out. There was mass confusion in the kitchen and I counted at least 6 orders that were returned for errors. I can't believe we actually waited for 45 minutes for a dog. And then with no apologies for the wait we finally received the best version of an Oscar Meyer hot dog I have seen. Not worth the wait or price. Skip it.

2.5 stars. Had high hopes for this joint. Best part is they carry the Westword and Angler magazines to read while you suck down the equivalent of a 7-11 hot dog with pre packaged toppings. Don't rep gourmet unless you get your ass to the market every morning and pick fresh product. Sysco food service delivery is by no means gourmet. But all that said, your hot dogs are simply too small for the mark up you charge. Get real and beef up!

Really overpriced and the dogs are not very big. The fries were good, just not worth the money. :-(

Decided stop by and give this place a try, they were filming a commercial so all their attention must've been on their commercial process and not the ONLY customer in there (ME). I explained to the girl that it was my first time here and she laughed and looked away instead of offering suggestions. I grabbed the menu myself and looked it over and asked her if she could suggest something. Decided to try her suggestion of the Tiajuana dog which was a dog wrapped in bacon, topped with pico de gallo, avocado, chopped jalapenos (menu said they were supposed to be grilled by they were raw), and sour cream. The hot dog and drink came out to $7.58 and took about 5 minutes to prepare this one dog. The taste of the hot dog was just ok. Will not be going back here and would not recommend anyone else does.

Great Hot Dogs, awesome cheese fries, excellent service. This was my first time at Billy's. Purchased the Living Social. I was a little reluctant to try this place because of some of the reviews, but we had a great experience. The girl Aileen (I think that was her name) was very helpful with the menu and very friendly. I would definitely go back. The Billy Dog and Seattle were my favorites.

I was underwhelmed by this place. I ordered their Tijuana Dog-- and order that seems anything but bland-- but the toppings were scarce and and muddled by the excessive sour cream. The service was also pretty slow and the guy who took our order was rude. The garlic fries were good...

I have been here 3 times and tried 3 different things. I was not a fan any of the 3 times so I am not going back. Lets begin with the good stuff. The building is huge, nice looking, and plenty of parking since the plaza they are in is mostly empty. The owner is nice. Now lets move into the not so good. The hot dogs and sausages are uninspired and bland. Very boring like a 7-11 hotdog. Nothing interesting like you will find at The Uber Sausage or Rock n Dogs. The staff is young and do not yet know what they are doing. Now the really bad The fries are super greasy and on the last day I went there I am positive they used some really old oil to cook them. I could not get past the third one. The tables are always dirty. They have to learn to clean the tables and throw away the newspapers and The Onion's that have been used while people are eating. Just nasty.

This place actually had a really interesting selection of dogs, and a decent bar selection, but the prices were too high for me to want to go back.

Cruising through the Southside of Denver, my mind starting wandering over to the sweet imagery of plump, juicy, delicious tube meat. Remembering that Billy opened his latest outpost of gourmet dogs in the downtown Englewood area, the wife and I passed go to swing by Billy's new joint. The interior is nearly a replica of the location in the five-points/ballpark area, but bigger. They have a nice selection of beers, which we skipped over today; we came for the wieners. Claire got the Tijuana Dog and I, after some Mitt Romney-esque flip-flopping, settled for a Texas Tommy. When the dogs came, I had buyer's remorse. My dog seemed so pathetic, simply dressed in cheese sauce and topped with a dried out piece of bacon. It didn't seem like a gourmet dog, but rather a sad little wiener purchased from a Denver zoo snack bar and drenched with several pumps of nacho cheese. My wife's dog was much more impressive, loaded with chunks of avocado, jalapenos, and pico de gallo. I was a bit jealous, but she complained about the gobs of sour cream loaded on the dog, which she scraped back onto the basket liner. The fries didn't do much for the show either, coming out flaccid and greasy. Unlike most hot-dog shaped human anatomy, a wiener is a thing of beauty when properly prepared and dressed. Perhaps other things on the menu live up to the gourmet descriptor, but the wieners we were presented with were just overpriced and unimpressive.

I don't normally write reviews, but this restaurant was so bad I couldn't let it go unnoticed. The best part about my meal was the fountain drink I filled myself. Way overpriced for animal parts shoved into casing, as if something like that could get any worse, but it does here. Business tip: building is too large for hot dogs, fries, drinks and no customers. Get yourself a cart, lower your overhead, and your prices, get rid of the tables no one cleans and raise your standards. Any reason the tables were dirty when there were two employees standing around with absolutely no customers in sight but myself and nothing else to do? One word: YUCK One star: only because it won't post ZERO

This place is not bad! Tried their coney dog, nothing special but yummy nonetheless. The chili cheese fries were yummy as well. Nothing too special about this place but nothing bad to say either. It is a good placebo attempt to eat with a baby.

For the second time I have found a hair in my food.DISGUSTING! The first time it was just hanging out in my basket with my hot dog so I overlooked this and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Today however I had the joy of fishing the hair out of my mouth as it was churned into the ice cream I was eating. Again, DISGUSTING! I am pregnant and have a disabled child so cleanliness is up there as far as whats important when it comes to food preparation so I will not be frequenting this establishment anymore. I like my food and ice cream sans hair but that's just me...call me crazy!

I thought everything here was pretty standard. That is to say, everything was fine but nothing really stood out as particularly amazing. I had the Kobe dog and the corn dog with garlic cheese fries. I couldn't tell based on taste what separates a Kobe dog from a regular dog. The corn dog was good, but to be fair what corn dog isn't? The garlic cheese fries had a good taste, but they were a tad soggy and limp for my taste. It was about $23 for two peoples meals which is perhaps a tad pricey, but not too bad. We'd come back, but wouldn't make a special trip to do so.

These people really know how to cook up a hot dog. The hot dogs are tasty with good toppings and they have gelato too.

After walking by many times, I finally stopped for a dog. I was surprised to find non-traditional choices, like a vegan dog, a duck brat, and salmon! The guys at the counter explained the menu and were nice and friendly. One was in training, and they asked if it was ok if he 'practiced' with me. Very polite. Tried the duck dog with sweet potato fries. The sausage was mild and tasty, not a very strong flavor, but very good. I do think the onions on top could have been either pushed down into the bun further, or cut smaller. They were a good taste compliment, but did not want to stay on dog or in bun. Quite messy, and no utensils! Or maybe I'm just not a trained consumer of this type of hotdog! Sweet potato fries were crisp and flavorful. Staff was attentive and quick to clear tables, sweep floor. I'll certainly go back to try some other options.

Hard to improve on this hot dog experience! The meat is fresh, the sausages handmade, the buns sheer perfection and the shakes are like something out of a old fashioned diner-thick, fresh, delicious..all cream! The small chain is doing it right. I've checked in at every location and always receive friendlier than usual help and truly top-notch dogs! Do yourself a favor...eat hotdogs tonight! You'll be really glad you did!

We just ate here this morning. I was kind of surprised they were open before 11... We were greeted when we walked in and the guy behind the counter was very pleasant and went over the menu with us since it was our first time in. My husband ordered the taco dog and the billy dog (which is a Chicago dog) he really liked the taco dog and the billy dog was just as good as any other Vienna Beef place. I ordered the Seattle dog (large pieces of cabbage, onion, cream cheese, and bbq sauce) I liked the unique combination, the flavors really complimented each other. We shared the half and half fries and they were awesome, we both liked the dipping sauce. Our kid got a kids meal (plain hot dog), and she didn't complain, so success! I think it is safe to say we will be back, Englewood doesn't have a ton of hot dog options (at least not that we are aware of) and it's nice to have one close by with reasonable prices.

The management needs to fix this place. Dirty and worst service ever. We sat at three tables in an empty restaurant and not one was clean. We ordered and sat and sat and sat, watching them serve a huge take out order who came in after we ordered and placed their order. The two employees were a joke. They think their poor service is erased by saying "I'm sorry". The guy said it at least ten times and the purple haired lady, at least five. Really insincere since we watched them do it over and over and over to other customers. This location is a joke. The food- average at best when we finally got it. When you have so-so food, your service better be great. This location failed in all areas. We will never return to this location again.

You have got to be kidding me with those $4 "gourmet" hot dogs. For $4 I can make literally 8 of those same exact hot dogs by going to Safeway and buying the ingredients. The staff is really nice, but the price to food ratio loses this place a lot of stars. The ice cream is delicious. It would make more sense to call it "Billys Gourmet Ice Cream" and then serve sub par hot dogs as an added bonus.

  • Keir M.

The staff was nice and the atmosphere is pretty cool but the food (we ate lunch) left a little to be desired both in portion size and flavor. It wasn't bad, just wasn't good enough to bring me back. I would probably stop in and try some ice cream (they did give me a free sample and it was good) because it is nice to see the old fashioned ice cream counter on old Broadway and at the same time do business with someone other than a DQ etc. If they could ramp up the flavor by 30% and portions by 25% of their lunch/dinner items they would have a really great place.

My husband and I bought the living social for Billys and used it today. Billy's was delicious! the service was awesome and we went back for seconds. We will come again for sure! Nice that Beer is served as well!

Love that it is so close to home. Hubby loves it. Me not quite as much. Wish they had more wine selection but the beer is great. The service is awesome and staff friendly. Good atmosphere too. Hubbys favorite is the buffalo dog and mine is the kobe beef. Fries are outstanding.

Good dogs, especially the one with cheese and bacon. My question is - why are fries so hard to get right? Soggy and sad, which is a shame because there's nothing better than good chili cheese fries. So, good dogs, icky fries.

  • Ron K.

Ordered the pork bratwurst and fries's brat was the worst I have ever had. Now the fries on the other hand are hand made and are off the hook. I like the facilities and location. Being my first time here I had asked alot of questions, and the gal behind the counter was ill-informed and did not really have a complete understanding of the menu. So the explanations I received led to expectations that were not delivered upon me receiving my food. Now being from Chicago I do plan on stopping back here to try the hot dog. So............ till then

  • Stevie E.

Friendly staff, good service. The selection is excellent but the hotdogs were tiny. So yes, they need bigger wieners... I had the Seattle Dog and the toppings over-flowed and over-powered the hot dog itself, which is sad because it was really good for the few bites that included meat. The bun is super soft and tasty. Essentially I ended up with about half a bun and a left-over mound of toppings that would have constituted a full meal if the hot dog was bigger. A gourmet dog should stick out past the bun. Great concept but execution needs a little more work. (I'll second another review: It's no Biker Jims).
