First time since the change over from Randy's. Atmosphere was good, the new bar looks great and is a more social feel. We were sat immediately, and the server was competent. He was informed, helpful, yet unobtrusive. The wine list is limited, but the selections they have are well thought out, well rounded and well priced. Everything from 6-12 per glass. No wines by the bottle list right now, but the server said that was coming. We only had 2 people, so could only try one appy-- however there were several others that looked great. We chose the Durango dolmas, which wouldn't have been my first choice, but when you dine with your mom, you make some concessions. The description of them was beet risotto wrapped in grape leaves with a lemon garlic vinaigrette. The presentation was simple, not exactly elegant., but I was pleasantly surprised by the finished product. The texture was pleasant-- a firm rice surrounded by the soft grape leaves, and the tangy dressing was a great accompaniment. It wasn't amazing, but it was nice to see something in addition to the usual suspects of calamari and smoked salmon on the menu. For our entrees we had the blackened shrimp and the pasta dish, both from the small plates menu. The blackened shrimp were perfect, spicy, salty, cooked well. However, the polenta cake they were served with was blackened and overdone, with a melting of basic cheddar cheese over the top that did nothing for the finished product. The vegetables served with the dish seemed like an afterthought, and as much as they might contribute to a well rounded diet, certainly weren't thought out as part of the dish. The menu had mentioned applewood bacon as the second ingredient in the entrée, yet the 5 crumbles of them were overdone and more of a garnish. The pasta dish was fine-- spinach, tomatoes and garlic with pasta in a white wine butter sauce. My mom chose to add shrimp, and again, a good size and cooked well. TL;DR: It has potential. I think there were choices on the menu that are probably better than what we had. Some attention to detail on the small parts of entrees wouldn't be amiss. Good wine list, good service, good atmosphere.

Came in this last Saturday night- it was super busy but we were seated immediately in a nice private booth area. Service was excellent throughout the entire meal. Food was good- I had that green chile alfredo with the shrimp instead of chicken- SUPERB! Lady had the flat iron steak and it was a great dish too. I definitely miss Randy's but I really like what the new owners have done with it. It's nice and open with a larger bar and they had a really good live band playing at a reasonable volume later into the evening. They also said they were open until 2am that night, so this is definitely a more hip, upscale lounge atmosphere now, compared to the previous incarnation of this restaurant. Had an excellent experience and will be back for many more meals and drinks- try the bloody mary, BTW. SPICY!

I have to say I have been there and I absolutely love it!! It is great food, drinks and the service was awesome. I think it is one of the best places in Durango! It is a nice change of pace and I love the atmosphere there. If you haven't been there you definitely need to check it out!

Although the hype says Durango, CO has great food culture but you will see the reality when you step in to it. Took my crew for drinks on a Friday late afternoon in January 2015. Not enough servers to serve the crowd. Guests were really confused as to where to seat. After 20 minutes a server came to get the drinks order for 8 people in our party. Half of the drinks arrived another 20 minutes later. Everyone had "this is enough" written on their faces. When we stood up to leave, the server came apologizing saying she is new and wasn't trained enough. At least the next door East by Southwest understood the inconvenience and quickly accommodated our party with a nice table with 2 servers. This is the worst bar/happy hour experience ever!! Visitors please avoid this place and go to other places instead.

Had two terrific meals here. Chef Phillip is innovative and personable. Very much enjoyed the lamb special. Bartenders mixed a great Manhattan.

I've been here at least a handful of times an every experience has been great. I took my family here when they visited and it was my grandmas first time having sliders and she loved them. I also came in for Thanksgiving and Christmas....which was nice since my family is in NY. My favorite thing about the restaurant though is happy hour, I love the apps and drinks the most but even for dinner...their menu is totally different from anything I would normally eat which is nice! I hear the brunch is good too and I can't wait to check it out when I'm not spending my weekends at Purg!

The food is generally awesome. Their Sunday brunch menu is the bomb! Thanksgiving dinner was extraordinary! And The Woods cocktail--super tasty, my fav! In the evenings, there is usually live music with a chill vibe, and sometimes dancing happens. Glad to know that Sam, one of the owners, is a Steelers fan. Lots of improvements always happening. I'm a regular!

First time here, maybe it was an off night. Service was really bad - staff said they were really busy as an excuse. We waited 15 minutes after we were seated to have someone get our drink order. Restaurant was very cold we asked to see if they would do something, so they moved us to another, equally cold table. Food service was slow, but the quality was good once it got there. Not a great first time, we'll give them another try.

6512 showed us an impressive experience for our Sunday brunch! They were busy but not loud which was a nice pace to the meal with friends and family. The cuisine came out decorative, bright and appetizing to the eyes. Our palates agreed whole-heartedly with our eyes, confirming the savory and delicious suspicions beheld. Looks like quality is the name of their game there at 6512. We will adventure there again for dinner, the very next time visiting Durango! They were only a block from the train station and right at the beginning of Main st. Looking forward!

Food was ok, but drinks were terrible. Couldn't stomach the margaritas and they never offered a refund on them left a 13.00 dollar drink.

This is a hidden gem that should be explored. The place itself is comfortable and has great ambience. The live music they have is usually great and the food is delicious! The cocktails and wine list are great, too. Servers and bar staff are super friendly and add to the overall experience. Try their weekend brunch. The hippy Benedict is to die for!! Prices are great.

Definitely a step up from its surrounding restaurants- good vibe, more upbeat and good food. Owner is super personal which always makes it a better experience. Left with smiles on our faces :) Will for sure be back.

No pictures on their yelp page, no information about there food and to top it off their web site is not mobile phone friendly. Hello, this is the 90's and people are on foot. I highly recommend that you step up and join us in the 21st century. Its not that hard to be the best in a little town like this. The front desk clerk and the bell man recommendations will not keep your doors open anymore. You need to be found on a smart phone or customers go elsewhere. Guess what, we did!

Great place ! Try the stuffed peppers and the Ahi appetizers. The Apps are our dinner usually. Really liked the live local music for Happy Hour. We have been back 5 times is as many months. Never disappoints !

From the minute we walked in the door, we were immediately made welcome by Chris. The atmosphere is casual and the happy hour menu & drinks were terrific. Have the tuna on a bed of blue cheese cole slaw or TO DIE FOR dolmas. Chris was really personable and worked with us on creating a new drink donned "The Rough" (inspired by a mutual interest in golf) which is (fresh) cucumber, jalepeno, lime, ginger and vodka. The crowd is friendly and the owner was visiting with everyone in the bar. Live music, sports and good drinks. We'll be back!

Our party of 8 had the WORST meal ever at 6512'. Claims of gluten free options on their menu and website were not just laughable but nearly offensive to truly be left with a salad that arrived for another table and when the correct one arrived, it was just lettuce with bread of all things on it, so it had to be sent back. Out of 8 meals, none were considered even fair. Fish tacos arrived cold, green chili stew lacked spice and was cold, the portobello dish was flavorless, and the $9 up charge for 4 shrimp to a bow tie noodle dish were not worth it. Kids' meals consisted of incredibly dry, bland chicken. The sliders were also cold and disappointing. With so many incredible restaurants in close proximity in downtown Durango, we can't foresee this place lasting with locals once the tourist season is over this summer. The only positives were the ambience, live musician, and alcohol (which is hard to mess up when beer and wine come from bottles.) As Durango natives, we will definitely not return and did let their staff know they have no right to suggest gluten free options on their menu or website as they even stated themselves that they do not have GF buns, tortillas, sedicated potato frier, or really anything other than a simple lettuce house salad which certainly isn't worth the price. The woman we spoke to agreed and admitted its been an ongoing issue. As only 1 of 2 tables dining and all the rest drinking, it was absurd that our lackluster meal took 2 hours as well. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. We certainly wish we had.
