Fresh Donuts, Friendly Cashier. But they Could pay attention to the lobby more. Napkins were on the floor. And the tables hadn't been wiped down in a while. I could tell what the previous guest had at another table. 1 Thing. They share a parking lot with the Mexican Market and Restaurant. So the Parking can get kind of full quickly.

I've loved Winchell's since childhood. So when I moved down the street from this one I was stoked. I went there and I wasn't let down. The donuts were fresh and delicious with a variety to choose from. The coffee was good as well. It's great we have Dunkin and Voodoo, but don't overlook Winchell's. They're wonderful. I'd recommend a fritter, killer good.

This Winchell's is clean and the staff is fiendly. They make their donuts in the back and are fresh daily. The coffee was great and they even have cleaner in a giant thermal pot. I only wish they had raw sugar and Stevia. Please!

True Story... One day, while on my way to work, I found myself in need of an iced coffee. Nothing fancy, just a plain old half-caff coffee over ice. It would've been nice if there had been a Dunkin' Donuts in the area, but I have yet to see one in Denver (though I'm told they do exist). Additionally, this particular 'hood is utterly bereft of a Starbucks. I KNOW. Believe it or not, there are actually still neighborhoods in which Starbucks hasn't yet taken root and spread like the plague. Good or bad? You decide. Still... how hard is it to make an iced coffee? Any self-respecting donut shop should be able to handle that request, so into Winchell's I went. "I'd like a large iced coffee, half-caff please," I told the elderly man behind the counter. He just stared blankly. "Half regular, half decaf," I explained... just in case he wasn't hip to coffee-abbreviation culture. The blank stare continued. And for those who might be wondering, no... he didn't appear to be handicapped in any way (mental or otherwise). "Iced coffee?" I prompted gently, and a bit more loudly (just in case his hearing might be an issue). "I'm not sure we have that!" He exclaimed. "It's just coffee over ice, nothing fancy. Half decaf, half regular," I said, relieved that it was just confusion standing between us. Confusion, I could work with. "Okay... so..." it was becoming obvious I'd need to walk him through it. No problem! "Just grab one of those cups and fill it with ice," I said, and was hit with that same blank stare again. "You have an ice maker, right?" "This one?" He asked, standing near one of those big industrial things you see next to the Coke machines near hotel elevators. Dude, you're asking ME? "That'll work. Now fill the cup with ice and just pour the coffee over it. Half decaf, half regular." And then... ... ...he asked me... ... ... ...wait for it... ... ... "WHICH HALF DO I PUT IN FIRST?" I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried.
