Fast. Cheap. Good. I highly recommend the shrimp enchiladas with green sauce.

Can't complain. Much better than the LA versions of Wahoo's, which were awful. Margs are TIGHT and strong. Good service, decent food, and great happy hours. Nice place to chill, both inside or outside on the patio.

Really great value. The staff was very friendly and helped us to order. Good was delicious, "clean" and the price was right.

I'm staying in downtown Denver for work, with a free night to find fish tacos, a beer and a patio. Ordered the chicken tortilla soup, 2 blackened fish tacos which come with rice and beans, and a Dos Equis Amber. Service was very friendly, food came out hot and quick, but it was just very bland and average at best. Very little fish in either taco, likely 1 ounce in each. Paid $16 for a very average meal, so somewhat disappointing. Patio is wide open, basically right on the sidewalk/street, and the neighborhood feel is nice. A little bit of a bummer, but at least I'm full!

Not bad, 3.97 stars really. We ate here for lunch about 1115 on a Friday afternoon. It wasn't crowded, the service was quick - place an order at the counter, take a number, and they'll bring the food out to you type of place. I ordered the #2, an enchilada (cheese) and fish (grilled mahi mahi) taco in spicy salsa verde with a side of black beans and white rice. The corn tortilla might be considered mushy to some, I was fine with it though. Overall a good, casual lunch experience.

Love Wahoo's. If I am hungry or want left overs I order the Banzai Shrimp burrito "wet" with the green sauce. The sauce is NOT green chile, it is more of a cilantro cream sauce, not positive but it is delicious! The Banzai burrito has your choice of rice (brown or white) and beans (black or cajun white, I believe) with sauteed zucchini, mushrooms, onions and peppers. There is no shortage of Shrimp in it either, somethimes they are all crowded at one end but they are in there and there are plenty! If I have a small appetite I will order the Wahoo fish tacos, blackened and cajun are both good. The combo that comes with rice and beans on the side is also good. I am a big fan of rice and beans so I know what properly cooked and seasoned ones tastes like. THey are not mixed, FYI, just sit next to each other on the plate with a small topping of pico de gallo to really amp up the flavor. They have a wide variety of meats, chicken, pork and beef if you're not into fish/seafood.

Been going here for 8 years. Something has happened recently and most of the employees have been replaced. Normally I see changes in employees and don't think twice. But boy did someone screw up! The poor cashier girls were not blessed with brains in this life. I ordered a blackened mahi mahi salad - add banzai veggies (for The fifty millionth time) The vegis have always been sautéed and seasoned beautifully! And the fish was usually fresh and tender! Instead I was served a wahoos salad with steak and RAW VEGIS. Really chef!?? When I saw the steak I sent it back. They returned with mahi. After eating through the salad I was disturbed to find that what I thought were mushrooms, were actually pieces of steak that the cook left whilst picking it off to switch it out with fish. Now call me crazy, but if I were a pescitarian, and did not eat land animals, Would this not be forbidden?!?! The employees lack of attentiveness was also very obvious and had me wondering if I would ever be back :/ SAd....

It was ok- probably better on a warm sunny day with a beer on the patio. Had the 2 fish taco entree with black beans and brown rice. Nice and light, but the slaw to fish ratio was a bit off. I added some hot sauce, guac and salsa (which I ordered), removed some slaw and it was a nice taco. In my book that is little too much modification for a 4 or 5 star review. I'd go back and try again- burrito looked amazing, but since I only have 5 lunches on this trip I probably won't be back this time around.

You know this place may seem like any other Mexican food restaurant to some, but to me this is the place I come to when I want to get in a better mood. I always get the same thing, like with my other favorite restaurants but why mess with perfection? The #2 grilled chicken tacos with black beans and white rice is always delicious. But the real underlying reason I come here is for the margaritas. Say what you want about other places having "the best" I will hold out on wahoos having the perfect Marg. Tall glass, three different types of alcohol and a fantastic mix, you keep your fruity tiny Margaret at $7 a pop, I'll take mine twice the size, three times as potent and 2 dollars less. Oh, and the people who work here are super sweet and always bring a smile to my face when I walk in the door. So do yourself a favor and come in for some excellent food and Margs!

Wahoo's is like that bad boyfriend you keep going back to because you think he'll change. "Maybe my food won't be flavorless this time!", "Maybe it's my fault (for ordering the wrong thing)!" But be honest, you know the answer. Like that bad boyfriend, Wahoo's never gets better. Everything is SO bland. Even if you try to purposely order the most ridiculous combination of menu items, it still tastes like nothing. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars is because of it's only redeeming qualities: - cheap beer and a nice patio makes for a decent happy hour spot (just DON'T order anything). - not sure how this is possible, but the queso is actually really good. I don't know how they can make everything else so poorly and have good queso, but damn that stuff is yummy. Queso = Good. Everything else = total crap.

Excellent example of a good fish taco. We had the wahoo Cajun and wahoo regular, both were delicious with a lightly dressed slaw on top. We ordered up front and were served at our table. Friendly staff checked on us multiple times. The chocolate chip cookie is also a must. Reasonably priced. Family friendly. Good for larger groups.

I love Wahoos! The green sauce really makes the meal, so order whatever you want, but make sure you smother it in green (or ask for a cup on the side). The blackened fish burrito is my personal favorite, but the fish tacos are a very close second. Of course no meal is complete without a margarita, but be fair warned - those suckers are strong!

This is by far my favorite Wahoo's location. Great Patio for after work happy hours. Service is fast and friendly- Alex is the best! Last summer they had patio bands throughout the summer; which was a blast! Baja Rolls-Yum. Brown rice option-yay. PS- Kids eat free on Thursday nights- so if you are chuggin back margs on the patio- you might want to pay attention to your surroundings, ha.

First good fish taco in a long time. Friendly people and excellent service. Best fish tacos I ever had were in Rosarito 30 years ago....for Colorado, this is pretty OK. You don't need a food truck with a bunch of hipsters hangin nearby to have a good taco....

I eat here a lot and have never had a bad experience. The tortilla soup is very good, I leave off the tortillas for a lighter meal. Be careful though, the fries are great too. I recently started eating the blackened fish as well as the broiled, both are great. This is one of my lighter lunch options. The number one is one taco with rice and beans, which is a nice filling meal. I have tried the two taco route and always have leftovers to bring home.

Tacos done well. Variety of fillings. I had a steak and a chicken. Enjoyed each of them. Take out style but they do deliver the food to your table. Serves beer and booze. Outdoor seating as well. Parking lot design was a little weird but manageable.

I have been on a taco tour of Denver for the past couple weeks, and decided to include Wahoo's. The tacos aren't bad, but they aren't exceptional. I ordered Cajun salmon expecting a flavor rush, but the taste was anonymous. I felt the same way about the $6 16 oz margarita: good, but not noteworthy. I'd rather spend roughly the same amount at Moontower, Adelitas, or Mezcal.

Would eat here everyday if I could! It's healthy, filling and reasonable on price. Cajun beans are the best and you have to try the grilled fish tacos blackened! Unreal Wahoos all the way!

I have always enjoyed going to Wahoo's for lunch (near my office) but now I LOVE it. They have tofu on the menu! So now they are even more vegan/veg friendly! I have had the mango tostadas twice now and they are incredibly delicious! The service is always great, with all of their employees always being very friendly.

My favorite place to eat when I'm in a hurry or when I'm going to a show at the Marquis. Super rad location in what appears to be an old gas station. I haven't had anything that I didn't like. My favorite is the good ol' grilled fish taco plate with rice and black beans. The burritos and sandwiches are great too. The pico is spot on and delicious. Not really a fan of the blackened fish...

Had dinner here 20 January 2012. Stopped here for a quick evening eat after a long drive to Denver (5 hours). I got a little mixed up, and meant to hit the Wahoo's on Blake, but we arrived here instead (once I started heading in this direction, we kept going). I am glad we did. Yes, I know it's a chain, but sometimes... Service is great - the two guys running the counter are very accommodating, pay close attention to their patrons' needs, are helpful, humorous, lively. Food comes quickly, and the service is quick to right any errors that may have been made in your order. The food is what I would term "healthful", although the portions are a tad large for me (not a fan of large portions). It isn't swimming in grease and glop, and has good flavor to boot. Although the portions are large for me, the fact that the entire meal didn't feel oily and starchy more than made up for the large portions. Tasty fare, friendly service, good for a late snack.

I wanted to like you a lot more than I do right now, Wahoo. In fact, I quite liked you last night at an event when you were serving samples of your bowls (but in a cup!). That was pretty cute and your servers were very cool. They even gave us a few "free combo #1" coupons. However, when we came in today for the real experience, we were disheartened and even a little dismayed. Yes, we had a discounted meal, and yes, your service was good when you took our order and brought out our food. But it was unfortuante that what you are known for, fish tacos, really sucked. We ordered 4 blackened fish tacos and 2 #1 combos with cheese enchiladas. The rice was undercooked, your fish was flavorless and void of any factors that indicated even being fish, your pico tasted like tomato paste, and your corn tortillas were mushy. Boo. Since you are so dang close to my house though, I'll give you one more shot to prove your willingness to work at this relationship, I'll come back and try a burrito, okay?

Service was great. Food is just okay. I ordered the shrimp bowl and it was pretty bland even with the spicy white beans and salsa.

Where can you go on a 70 degree Denver day in March and enjoy food outside on a patio with remarkable views of the city? Where can you get friendly service, food brought to your table as soon as it is ready? Where can you eat an amazing blackened fish taco with beans and rice on the side that rivals all of those amazing taco places in Southern Cali? Where can you find food that doesn't require shouting orders over a plastic sneeze guard to the creators of your food? Where can you have food served to you when you are starving and bring your beloved furry dog along for the outing to sit next to you and enjoy the day? You can find all of this and more...only at this Wahoo's!

One of my favorite patio drinking, err eating, spots - but what happened to all the hot kids who used to work here? a few tips: 1) I stayed away from the white beans forever, always opting for black. I finally tried them and am now addicted. They are spicy and delicious! 2) This Wahoo's makes strawberry margs - yum!!! 3) They don't really have salsas at Wahoo's - creamy green dressing (which is tasty) or pico de gallo-like chunky stuff. Go for the green!

I LOVE fish tacos and this place rocks them. I had the wahoo fish and a carne asda taco with black beans and brown rice. The slaw and green sauce they use was perfect, not too hot but just the right flavor. Rice was perfectly cooked, not sticky. Had bottled and about 5 draft beers. My wife had the chicken tacos and she loved them also. Give these tacos a try!

I come to Wahoo's on an almost weekly basis for their run club. I really like this place! Ample seating both indoor and out with really cool skate/snow decorations. The staff is always nice and helpful too! I tend to get the fish or chicken tacos. Very light and tasty. Make sure to put that amazing cilantro cream sauce on it too. I have also had the fish burrito before as well..VERY good and VERY filling.

The staff is friendly and I love the food. I've had almost everything on the menu and I like it all. There's a nice area to sit outside and the inside area seats a surprising amount of guests as well although I usually get it to go. I think some things are a little over priced for being kind of a quick food restaurant but I've never had anything that was tasty.

This place is so good we had it two times in two days! This location and the Lakewood locations also! The fish tacos are a must. So fresh and you just feel good when you leave. The margaritas are strong and yummy! This is my new place to stop before a night on the town!

Saw this on Yelp & decided to give it a try, so glad! Fusion Salad with salmon was amazing, the bowls are super tasty & the green sauce is terrific!

Great fresh food! The green sauce and the queso are particularly spicy at this location in comparison to others. I'm a huge fan of the salmon salad and shrimp enchiladas. Can't really go wrong with any fish dish here. I remember trying their steak once and the chicken once; I stick to their fish - it's better and if I wanted chicken or steak I would go to a different type of burrito place. This place doesn't serve up a ton of cheese or grease, no sour cream or anything that feels terribly unhealthy. Good, fresh alternative to the other places out there.

I haven't been to Wahoo's Fish Taco in 10 years. I'm glad that Denver has a few locations, because I remember liking this place when I went to one in Southern California. The atmosphere is very surfer style, with stickers everywhere, ski/surf sporting equipment hanging around and a general Baja California appearance. The color scheme pretty much nails the Cali vibe. Indoor and outdoor seating. In short, Wahoo's is a casual taco spot. In addition to fish, they make chicken, pork and carne asada tacos if I remember correctly. I had 1 fish and 1 carne asada. Both were good, but nothing to write home about. Black beans or cajun "white" beans with white or brown rice. I found the cajun beans and rice to be decent, but the flavor was not very distinct from a pack of Zatarain's. Nevertheless, I would eat here a couple times a month if I lived in the area. I feel at home in places like this. Cheap, semi-healthy lunch in a vibrant lil' taco joint. Check it out!

I usually don't review chain restaurants, but I'm so frustrated with this Wahoo's that I'm going to. Every time I order my combo plate I order it without pico de gallo, and every time I get pico de gallo on my beans and rice. I hate pico de gallo on my beans and rice. I started asking for 'no pico de gallo' and 'no salsa', thinking that perhaps they called it salsa, but there it is, still mounded on top. I even ask for just plain rice and beans, with nothing on top, and it's still there... haunting me. Of course, I just scrape it off and eat the food anyway, but it's annoying to have to dissect my meal, and I don't like wasting food. That said, the food I do enjoy eating is very, very tasty. Whatever is in the green enchilada sauce is pure magic, and I recently tried the mushroom enchiladas, which are also amazing. Just tell me the secret code word to skip the pico, please.

I heart Wahoos. I fell in love with them when I used to go in Costa Mesa, CA and was thrilled to find them around the Denver area. Out of the Denver areas (I have been to two others) this is my favorite location. Every time I have been here the service has been friendly and the food has come out fast. My favorite are the shrimp enchiladas :) One of my favorite chain restaurants by far.

This was the only place that kept me alive during my stay in Denver. Closest to a baja style burrito I could find. Really fresh chicken. Yeah, I know that they are known for their fish tacos, but if it lives in water, I won't eat it. If it was called Wahoo's Chicken Burritos Mojado con Salsa Verde, that would be fine with me!

I dig this place, it's kind of fast foodie in the spirit of Chipotle or Noodles and Company and has really good food. The amount of food you get is awesome and is a great value. Come on, I had to rate this "Woohoo" for Wahoo's, right?? I love Wahoo's. The food is simple, tasty and healthful. The service is quick and chill and they have a bar. I don't usually use the bar, but it's nice to know it's there. The bottom line is, this place is not fancy, just fabulous. I wish there were one in every city, but as it is, this seems to be mostly a Western franchise operation. Keep up the good work, Wahoo's!

I have not seen friendlier people at chain before. I thought maybe I had stumbled into the set of Fargo, but, no, they didn't have funny accents. I had the blackened fish banzai burrito, not smothered. This is the only thing I've had there and I love it. It's not big, unfortunately, but it has the right balance of everything. And it goes well with a Bohemia and lime. While I sat on the lovely patio, I watched the most amazing display of customer service. The hard-looking dude with a neck tattoo and crisp ballcap on backwards a la Jesse James came out and asked each customer how their food was and if he could get them anything. When one customer commented on how spicy their salsa was, he immediately offered to go get the medium kind and then went and did it. On his way passing by he made sure to ask if I needed anything. That part was nice, but this took the cake. The next time he came out, a couple guys had finished and started walking down the street. Hard-looking dude actually called out to them half a block away and said "Bye guys! Have a great evening!". It was the sweetest thing I've seen in a long time.

I know Wahoos is a chain and that probably doesn't exactly fall under any pre-disposed reason to review it on yelp--but, the 20th location is special. No, not short bus special or so special it needs to wear a helmet--special cool. Great patio and the 20th location beats the downtown Blake location hands down due to FREE parking--yahoo!...er, wahoo! Plus, every first Wednesday of the month, PlayCoed, a community sports league in town, harnesses all of its teams and celebrates by offering free chips and salsa, free drinks, and giveaways. See you there!

I love this location when it's not in its peak hours, which is anytime except weekdays for lunch. Fresh, light to hearty food that doesn't make you feel gross. The fish tacos aren't quite authentic but pretty damn good. My favorite is the Bonsai bowl, with lots of veggies, rice, beans, and blackened fish. Everytime you go you can expect quality, they never miss. Somehow they manage to hire great people all the time, everyone is super nice. Order at the counter, and they bring your food to your table. Shiho F. is right, the patio is a huge plus at this location. They have a small parking lot, and there's lots of meters on the street, so it's easy to get in (again, I avoid it for workday lunch, I can't say if it's hard to find parking then). Bottom line: Great place to get your Omega-3 fatty acids when you can't afford sushi.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
