This place has good breakfast and good prices not usually packed like some places around town

Definitely a diner! We went here for breakfast. Everything was pretty good, but I have to say I left craving their pancakes. They are fantastic! They weren't heavy or doughy and had fantastic buttermilk flavor.

Nick's is where you will find our family most Sunday mornings. Fast and friendly service and a solid menu. I'm no longer looking to hang out for a half an hour before getting a table and at Nick's, even when they are busy they manage to get us right in. Pancakes make the kids happy, I enjoy the eggs and hash browns, and the husband is obsessed with the gyros. Check it out.

First time coming in and greeted right away! Staff was very friendly. Pork Chops taste great. The smothered Chile relleno was awesome! Hash browns are good too! The most important thing of all is the cleanliness of the restaurant. Really clean.

I loved the Greek skillet. Thick cuts of juicy gyros, olives, feta etc. The servers were incredibly friendly and attentive. Bonus star for Free Wifi. Decor could use some love...but it has a sort greasy-spoon charm to it.

Breakfast is good. Service not so much. They work in a hurry, they seem more concerned with getting you in and out as soon as possible. Besides that, the breakfast food is good and I would recommend it.

Greeted once you walk in, everyone was Friendly, overall food was not bad, good and cheap priced meal, older diner style place. One of Kids meals is mouse shaped pancakes! Home style food, good service

We live about a block away from this place, and ten years ago we were regulars. Before the change in ownership, long before the new (exterior) paint job and name change, when it was The Breakfast Queen -- back then, it wasn't a half-bad, typical family owned breakfast grill sorta joint, cheap, good green chili, nice waitresses. But that was then and this is now. Soon after the change in ownership, everything went downhill: the quality of food, service, even housekeeping and smell all went to hell. We have them a few more chances to get their act together, but the name and exterior paint are all that has changed. Frankly, I don't see how they keep the lights on, given how much fierce competition they have in this neighborhood.

This is another one of my favorite places for breakfast honestly the service is really good very friendly and the food is always delicious I always come in for that special steak and eggs only 499 it is excellent for the price. I come here at least 3 times a week and everything is consistently good I would really recommend this place if you're looking for a good breakfast and good service.

I went here recently when it was the breakfast queen. I remember the place being dirty, old and basically not inviting. The food was nothing talk about the flavorless chili, the undercooked eggs your basic inner-city diner. I saw the breakfast queen is gone and wanted to give it a try. I am impressed with how much of an improvement this place has made. There isn't a funky odor when you walk in the door, the bathrooms have been cleaned in a serious way. (My previous experience was disturbing : the bathroom sink water was a yellow color and the counters were filthy) And I have to say my service was outstanding. I ACTUALLY was blown away with my order being correct and UP TO TEMP! I reqested my hasbrowns extra extra well. ( I absolutely despise white hashbrowns) I was shocked to find my plate was super hot , and my hashbrowns were the perfect color red.. That meant the kitchen actually paid attention to the servers handwriting and my food was hot halfway through my eating it . Another significant sign they had the proper food temp when they served the food. Overall, the food did not blow me away with flavor , BUT because it was piping hot AND my hashbrowns were done proper I give this place the extra star. I can always handle mediocre food as long as its hot! I hope the chef who took over this place, is able to make it. I am sure along with everyone else is this-second depression era, he can in time be able to make the investment for higher quality goods = which will in turn mean higher quality food. But so far, he's on the right track.

I guess I'm against the grain on this one. I was in Denver on vacation and was looking for a place for breakfast and saw folks going into Nick's, so I went in. In short, excellent service, friendly staff and very good food. I went there twice. The first day I had a breakfast burrito that came with an excellent green chili sauce. The second day I had a corned beef scramble that was very good. I'd certainly go back.

When you have as many choices for breakfast as you do here in Denver, you really don't want to waste your time going to have so-so food. Nick's opened recently very close to our home and we thought we would give it a try (you never know until you try it, right?). We ordered a traditional breakfast (eggs, bacon, hash browns, pancakes). The bacon was fatty and not crisp. The "hash browns" weren't much except mushy, tasteless potatoes. The pancakes were alright, but not great. I'm not sure they'll stay in business long. I do have to say that the service was good.

I like this place. Waited a while to try it, but glad we did. Friendly, quick service, lots of menu options, and pretty much a standard diner experience. I tried the Souvlaki (chicken) and eggs for breakfast, which was pretty good and something different! My fella had the big breakfast, also good. We felt two things from our meal could have been improved: The coffee could have been better. I'd love to see them serve up coffee from a local roaster or at least improve the coffee. It was either not fresh or is just a bad roast and/or brand. The sausage is just so-so. At any rate, good experience, and I can't say enough about the friendly staff and warm feel to the place. It's an affordable diner, and it's not as "greasy" as a typical greasy-spoon diner, I might add. We'll be back. It's not anywhere near as good as the nearby Universal, or similar brunch spots, but it's diner food, and in that context, it's good!

Pretty disappointed, as I hoped this place could become my new neighborhood dive. Things started off great; friendly hostess, packed tables, good smells. It's a diner, kinda hard to mess up right? Wrong. They done f-ked it up. Let's start with the 50 minute wait for our food. I watched our waitress fumble with a large party, then walk over after half an hour, shrug and blame it on the kitchen. Then we see her frantically putting an order in back. In retrospect, I'm pretty sure she forgot our order. Fast forward another 15 minutes, we have no water, drinks or anything and she asks if we're okay. I'm hungry. Pretty easy to figure out after 45 minutes how I'm doing. Food arrives, and low, we are graced with an attempt at their version of a Denver omelette. I didn't know Denver omelettes came with olives. You know why I didn't know that? Because they don't. Never have, never will. Eggs, overcooked and dark brown from sitting on the stove top too long. Empty ketchup bottles. (I know, not a big deal, but at this point I'm preening shit-feathers off a shit-bird with this brunch.) Anyways, we smiled, thanked them for our brunch, paid and left. I'm glad I tried this place out b/c I'll never be coming back.

Nick's Diner is exactly what I thought it would be. No frills, just reasonably priced breakfast food. Omelets, skillets, toast, pancakes, and coffee with a friendly atmosphere. There is a little Greek flair in the menu with gyros and Greek salads. There are a few Greek inspired breakfast items that look worth checking out. If you're looking for a classic breakfast place with a mom and pop touch, Nick's is your spot. You'll get good food and prompt service.

Ive only been here a couple times, but every time I go the food is exactly what I was looking for. When I eat lunch, I like to eat at smaller family diners. That is exactly what nicks is. although they don't seem to be used to rushes. I would go to nicks if your looking for a family diner :)

This place used to be Breakfast Queen and while my husband braved a meal here once, I never would. We were happy to see the renovation (looks great on the outside) and had high hopes for the new restuarant. Unfortunately it isn't really a new restaurant. The owner, Nick, used to be a chef at Breakfast Queen and recently bought the place. While I really enjoyed my Greek Salad, the restaurant is really the same as Breakfast Queen with the addition of Greek food to the menu. (which is fine by me because I love Greek food and especially love gyro meat with my breakfast instead of bacon or sausage.) I guess it's just dissapointing that the makeover is just superficial. Federal Blvd could use some new and exciting places. While I really enjoyed my salad, my husband's monte cristo sandwich wasn't good and it was really small. (in all fairness, I am comparing this to McCoy's monte cristo which is KILLER.) Nevertheless, not a bad experience. I'll go back and hope my husband get something better. I'd get the Greek Salad again in a heartbeat.

Was my first time here since the place was re-opened as Nick's Diner (used to be the Breakfast Queen) and it was pretty much the same as it was. The Steak and Eggs were good and cooked to order. The green chile was acceptable as was the hashbrowns and other items ordered by the group. Nothing fancy just a decent meal at a decent price.

My blue-collar dad loved this place. Me, not so much. My chicken fried steak was DROWNING in gravy, which is usually a good thing, but it was actually nauseating how much gravy was on my plate here. My chicken fried steak was a needle in an ocean. I could barely stomach my meal as it was so damp and saturated with gravy. My mom liked her gyro and my dad liked his steak and eggs. I love great diner food (I'm from Oklahoma after all), but this meal really put me off.

Nick's Diner, at the old Breakfast Queen location is mostly a change in outward appearance. And I mean that in the most literal way. New sign, new exterior paint, and the parking lot is cleaned up. The inside is exactly the same. Same booths and chairs, same plates and mugs, same scrapes and chips on the woodwork and paint. And to the best of my memory, the same menu, plus some lunch/diner items now that they stay open until 9 PM. They even have the same specials in the same colored diamond shapes... The menus do have the new name on the outside and proclaim that it is family owned and operated since 2013. As for the quality of the food? Similarly adequate. They have upgraded the tea from Lipton to Bigelow, so that's a significant improvement. (For coffee people, its the equivalent of replacing instant crystals with something made from actual ground coffee beans of very average quality.) The staff is new, and there was a little confusion about whose section I was in, which resulted in an abundance of service, rather than a lack. The prices are still good, the atmosphere is still comfortable.
