This place is awesome! By far one of the best steaks I have ever had. Only bad thing is...it is crazy expensive. The sides are huge so one side will feed both of you. Great place for anniversaries or special date nights. If you can afford a 52$ steak I recommend going.

Call me old-fashioned, but I love Morton's! I grew up in the San Francisco restaurant so a restaurant in any location always feels like home. As for the recent purchase of Morton's by the Landry's group? Doesn't bother me one bit. They've changed a few things related to the ambience and added some pizzaz to the menu. The main thing that hasn't changed that I'd guess keeps people coming back? The fabulous staff. You have people that have been with Morton's for 20+ years and still love their jobs - that's saying something. They always make your visit enjoyable and are attentive to any special dietary needs you may have.

This Morton's location never disappoints. Everything from spectacular service in the bar area, to the wait staff and out-of-this-world steaks. The long-term management team is, most especially Joe & Tony, are the bedrock of this Morton's. They always go out of their way to ensure each and every dining experience exceeds expectations. One of my FAV restaurants on the planet! My 2 Cents Greg T.

Had a great dinner in the bar. Ordered the Iceberg Wedge Bites (Bite-Sized Wedge Salads served with Tomato, Egg, Bacon Bits and Blue Cheese Dressing), Fresh Cut Potato Chips With Blue Cheese Dressing, and Filet Mignon Trio Sauce Au Poivre, Béarnaise and Blue Cheese Butter. The Bearnaise was definitely the winner. We had a wonderful evening.

I remember Morton's in LA being better... It's not that my experience was bad. My steak was cooked properly, and the service was friendly. It's just that, with Capital Grille, and Ruth's Chris closer to me, and more reasonable pricing, and better seasoned steaks, and better marbled steaks, I just don't see myself ever coming back to Morton's. Ever. It wasn't bad... I really don't know how to describe it... I wasn't disappointed, but I wasn't impressed... It really was just "Meh"

Food was amazing as all Morton's food selection is, but this location was a bit small. I felt a little claustrophobic so I recommend you call 1-2 hours ahead of time to get a good table. The waiter we had was awesome! He was so helpful and went out of his way to serve us.

My first time at Morton's the Steakhouse. Read and heard so much about it. Fabulous service, upscale environment. I ordered the Cajun steak it was tender, juicy and flavorful. My wider ordered the seafood platter and lobster bisque, both of which were fresh and loaded with flavor. I recommend using their valet parking and they will validate your ticket for you.

Somewhat Limited Menu Morton's The Steakhouse has its roots in Illinois. Founded in 1978, Morton's of Chicago was the birth child of Arnie Morton and Klaus Fritsch. I guess ole Arnie had a better surname than Klaus. Today, Morton's has more than 70 steak restaurants in the U.S. and abroad. The ambiance at Morton's The Steakhouse is a tad bipolar. The dark lighting and décor skew toward a mature audience, however the trendy, upbeat music leans more toward a Gen Y crowd. Atmosphere aside, the menu is somewhat limited, but the food is very good. The constricted cuisine ranges briefly from beef to fish, however there are plenty of options within that spectrum. I recently had the Center-Cut Filet Mignon. It was among the tenderest of cuts that I have ever eaten - very tasty, yet a bit over-seasoned. The pricing is very reasonable. All-in-all, Morton's The Steakhouse is well worth your time and money. Enjoy!

I haven't been to Morton's in a long time. My husband received an email that they extended the 5280 week so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant was pretty dead but it was a Monday night downtown. I love a deal so I ordered off the 5280 menu and was glad I did. The Ceasar salad was amazing. My filet with the Au Poivre was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. We ordered a side of the Au Gratin potatoes and they were good but not the best I have had at other steak houses. The Creamed Spinach was not very good so I could have skipped that side dish. The broccoli was just ok but it was an option on the 5280 week. My husband ordered off the regular menu and ordered the Sea Bass - it was more than my entire 3 course 5280 Week price. He was very disappointed with the fish- it had bones in it and for the price it was a small piece of fish and he didn't really like it. The sauce on the fish was good. He loved my filet and wish he had ordered it instead. I came here because of the 5280 deal. When I want a high end steakhouse I always choose the Capital Grill. I also agree with the review about the pricey drinks- I had a $15 glass of Chandon and a glass of the Timberline Wine- expensive- my two glasses were more than my meal. I gave Morton's 4 stars because I received great service and the 5280 deal was an incredible value however if I paid full price it would have been more like a 3 star review and the fact that my husband did not his fish and the creamed spinach was not good.He wrote a review to the restaurant because in this price range you expect the best. If you are a steakhouse then you should have a good creamed spinach. I am sorry but in my book if you are a steakhouse in Denver than you have to compete with the best. The best steakhouse in Denver in my opinion is the Capital Grille. I think our bill was $200 for both of us - so I was glad that I ordered off the Restaurant Week menu.

Went for our anniversary. It was a nice eventing but the tables are pretty close together. Service was a little slow. It took us almost 3 hours to eat appetizers, salads, main course, and desserts. Drinks I felt were overpriced. I ordered the filet mignon medium well and it came out well done and dry. I didn't want to sit and wait for another one to be brought out but the manager did comp it. Overall a nice place but nothing special. I don't think we'd go back.

I struggled with the right rating for Morton's, but I am going with 3 stars when you combine food, service, and misc to the rating. Food: 4 stars. There is no question that the food at Morton's is top notch quality. The steaks are prepared perfectly and a few of their other dishes are outstanding, i.e. the Lobster Bisque. In other ways though, the food doesn't wow you. The escargot looked like a Pillsbury dough concoction and the scallops were okay (though cooked perfectly). For the price, I want perfection all the way around. Service: The service started out phenomenal. We had a nice woman taking great care of us. However, the oddest thing happened, about midway through the dinner, she disappeared from our table. She still served the other tables around us, but then we got some other guy. He was okay, but non attentive and forgetful. The whole thing was odd. Again, considering the price, service should be outstanding and we shouldn't be passed around! Misc - the only other thing that bothered me, which is not a big deal, is that the Valet for the restaurant costs $10. So you're telling me, you don't have enough margin in the $400 meal to cover my parking? Finally, this is a message to Denver - when you're going to a restaurant like Morton's, DRESS UP! It was pathetic to see people in t-shirts, beanies, and other crap clothing.

An excellent steakhouse next to Union Station. Our 2nd visit for celebratory event. Joe the GM spent 20 minutes chatting with us and our server Nick was quite attentive. They took and printed a photo of us for a keepsake and printed special menu with our name on it. Rather quiet restaurant at 6:30 pm in Friday. Best Lemon Drop martini in town with cinnamon sugar rim. 1 block from 16th st mall

A bit more expensive than similar steak houses. It was good but not nearly as good as a couple of competitors with similar pricing.

Where to start? OK...we went for restaurant week and what a great date night it was. From the hostess to the wait staff the service was impeccable. The general manager Joe M. was circulating throughout the dining area just to make sure that everyone was satisfied. Good drinks I tried something called the Fire & Ice cocktail ...refreshing. Now for the food she had a petite filet cooked to perfection. I decided (after a suggestion from our wait person) to try a Cajun spice rubbed pork chop. I'm glad I did. It was seasoned so well, thick cut and juicy. So good. Dessert finished us off nicely. We shall return.

We went to Morton's this past weekend for Denver Restaurant week. We like to try new steakhouses each year for this event, and were excited to try this one. They have a valet out front for $10 plus tip which is convenient. The restaurant is nice enough but dated (not in a good way). For the price of the food there, they should have a bit of a remodeling budget. We had a very nice server and the couple we were meeting who had arrived before us had a pleasant, if awkward, interaction with the manager of the restaurant. We ordered drinks, and mine was made incorrectly. They were very pricey as well, for the house level beverages. We ordered the filet item on the Restaurant Week menu and mashed potatoes. The steak was small, overcooked and just OK. This would have been fine at Lone Star, not at Morton's. The potatoes were ok as well, nothing to write home about. We had key lime pie and creme brulee for dessert and it was decent (nothing amazing). So $130 lighter in the wallet for two (when the cost per person is $30), we left very underwhelmed and hungry. While I understand that if we had of gone all out and spent a couple hundred a person we might have had a slightly different experience. But for us, the Denver Restaurant week gives us rare access to otherwise unattainable places to eat. It's their opportunity to earn our loyalty or lose it: Morton's lost it. I'd recommend you go to Simms, the Palm, Ruths Chris, Del Frisco's, and maybe many others to have a better meal for less money. Heck, drive to Fort Collins and head to Sonny Lubick's. That place is awesome for less money than probably any of the Denver steakhouses.

Just had a fabulous dinner at Morton's this evening. My husband and I loved our meals, the cleanliness and timeliness of the meal and restaurant, and our server (believe his name was Matt) was excellent. I had the lamb, which was cooked perfectly. My husband had the filet with grilled shrimp, and bacon wrapped scallops which were EXCELLENT. Scallops and filet were very tender with excellent flavor. We got a side of grilled asparagus, and the glaze they cooked with was phenomenal. We also enjoyed (I believe it was called this) a Palm Beach Passion martini that was DELICIOUS! Also, when we walked in, we were greeted by the hostess and General Manager, both who were very friendly. The GM had a great sense of humor, and also stopped by our meal to check on us; very personable! I've eaten at the Morton's in San Diego (which was also phenomenal), and now at the Denver location. Loved both, and highly recommend both.

This is my favorite steakhouse in Denver hands down, always great service and the steak is always amazing. I've never had a bad experience here and everything I've tried has been top notch. I always come here for my birthday and they put my name on the menu which is super cute! The only thing I don't like is they bring live lobster to your table (I have a weird thing with seeing an animal alive before I eat it, I just can't hang) but I just let the wait staff know and they always accommodate me and my weird fear. Love this place!

We came here for my birthday and I was pretty excited to try this place out, especially after taking about a week reading through reviews on a handful of steakhouses in order to pick the best one based on reviews and cost. However, I was extremely let down. Honestly, things are waaay overpriced for the actual quality you're getting. The only thing that went above and beyond was the scallop appetizer dish. Other than that, I was disappointed in the porterhouse steak as was the other person in our party that got that as well. I mean come on, for $60 I expect more, much more, or at least much better. For as disappointing as the porterhouse was, I hope the $59 New York strip is significantly better. The porterhouse I received was grisly and just did not "wow" me at all. We had 2 people at our table that drank wine and were not happy with the selection. They said it definitely was not worth $14 a glass. Since it was my birthday, I received a free dessert and I chose the hot chocolate lava cake (I'm not sure the exact name of this dessert from the menu, but it was basically a chocolate lava cake). Now I'm not sure if it was just sitting up at the pass for a bit or what, but it was not hot at all when it came out and the ice cream that was also on the plate had already left a pretty good melted puddle as well. Very disappointing. The service was not what I was hoping for either. When you're paying that much for food, you expect the service to be top notch. It fell pretty short actually. We sat down a little after the others in our party had got there, and it took a little longer than expected for her to come get our drink orders. She never told us where to look for specialty drinks or beers and she didn't even give us a drink/wine menu. On top of that, a few minutes after we sat down, she brought out menus but only 3 of them when we clearly had 5 in our party and everyone was there at that time. She never asked if we needed more menus, even after walking by and seeing that we were all trying to share the 3 menus we did have. Throughout our night, there were multiple occasions that more than 1 person at our table ran out of our drinks, including water, and it took extremely long for her to notice and ask if we needed refills. Hello, yes, of course we need refills, we weren't even done eating yet. She was just not attentive at all and really didn't seem like she wanted to be there. Not really friendly, it all seemed very forced. And we weren't being rude at all, so it wasn't an issue with us. Overall, I won't be coming back here. Things are just over priced for the actual quality and definitely not worth it, especially the $60 we paid for each porterhouse. It's unfortunate too because I chose this place over Del Friscos and a few other steakhouses that I was looking at that looked promising. Oh well, it was an experience I guess.

I had such an awesome experience here. I went with my dad and friend on a Saturday night, had a reservation for 6:00 but got there a little early, they went ahead and sat us anyway! Service was absolutely amazing, the general manager came to us and gave us his card in case we needed anything, our food came out much quicker than anticipated (I was expecting it to take forever) and the food was amazing. Definitely the best steak I have ever had. I would definitely recommend the Mac and cheese! Wonderful place

I love steak. I consider it one of my favorite meals. This has been the biggest disappointment in a steakhouse in my life. The only worse place I've had a steak is Applebee's and that's from dining in a small town with no options. The Caesar salad was the worst I've ever had. Every piece of lettuce was wilted and soft. The sauce was nonexistent and the Parmesan cheese was the kind in the shaker bottle from the grocery store. I had to pass entirely. The steak was fine. I really don't have anything to say besides that about it. The asparagus was terribly undercooked and tasted nearly raw. We tried two different desserts - chocolate mousse and key lime pie. The waitress had said they were upheld to have one of the best key lime pies. It tastes as if a King Soopers pie had been sitting without a lid for a week. The chocolate mousse was again, fine. The only good thing about this was the bread, which was free. I will never go back to a place where the best thing on the menu was free.

How does this place only have 3.5 stars?!? I made a reservation for this location last Monday only to find out that it was practically empty - the bar even. I was very surprised too since the one in Costa Mesa is always packed, but it was good because it made for a quiet and pleasurable dining experience. Our server's name was Austin, and he was a very cool and collected guy. He was very professional and was everything you would expect from a fine dining server. I ordered the 4 course special: a Morton's salad, Filet, mashed potatoes and asparagus, and the chocolate souffle. All were just so perfect and delicious. The Filet was like cutting into butter, and it tasted just as good too. The mashed potatoes were very good, and the asparagus wasn't too hard and not too soft - just right. The best part was the souffle. how they managed to keep it tall and fluffy is beyond me, but even after I cut into it, it still didn't deflate! I had to actually force it down. I couldn't believe how perfect it was. It was such an exquisite meal and only for $49.95. What a steal for a place like Morton's! It was all that food for the price of one filet. The wine was also fine and smooth. I ordered a cabernet sauvignon that complemented the filet very well. My only complaint was that our server took severely long to get the check to us. Like 20 minutes! We had asked to split the bill, and it looks like it must be a difficult process for them. I almost want to say this isn't good for large groups if you need to split the check. I used to work in restaurants and never found it to be difficult, but maybe they just have an archaic system. Great restaurant and even better food! Will definitely try Morton's out again!

I went here for my birthday dinner. Everything was lovely, and the steaks were delish. The real downside is that I ordered the two-person chocolate souffle to share with my fiance for dessert. Big mistake. Rather than bring the souffle in the dish, the waitress elected to cut it in half and put it on plates with plops of creme next to the plops of souffle. It looked like a pile of deformed diarrhea, really. The closest thing I could say it looked like would be brownish scrambled eggs, one scoop in the center of a giant dinner plate, but wetter and slimier. The manager came over when he saw my shocked face as I watched the waitress butchering my souffle, and I expressed my surprise. He said something very close to, "Well, that's what happens when you split a souffle." Really? Is this what corporate had in mind when they put a two person souffle on the menu? A shapeless plop of egg stranded in the center of a dinner plate? It was inedible due to presentation. So gross. If the manager had shown the appropriate reaction to this piece of poo dessert plate, then I would not have left this bad review. I would have chalked it up to an undertrained server (incidentally, she didn't really know anything about wine or steaks, but he had helped us so I forgave it). But he really stood behind this bizarre pile of gross and even said, "Well, next time we'll give special instructions to bring it in the container." Really? Next time you will serve a souffle that looks like a souffle instead of a limp pile of shit? And I have to make a special request for that? I looked at the shitflee, and back at the manager, like, "Seriously?" I am still, to this day, simply amazed. Oh, and they charged us for it. My co-diners were kind enough to give me their dessert since it was my birthday, so I'd have something, and the brownie sundae was fine, nothing amazing. I had a really hard time containing myself but did so because it was my birthday and didn't want to be a jerk considering I wasn't getting the tab. If I had been, of course I would have insisted they take it back and not charge us. (Although, what I did say should have prompted them to do so of their own accord). So I'm sure this could have been some kind of bizarre one off, but in combination with the reaction of the manager, I won't be suggesting Morton's again anytime soon.

I took my girlfriend to Morton's for Valentine's Day this year and truly enjoyed the experience. We're both recent college graduates so this was definitely a restaurant outside of our comfort zones as it evokes a classical, conservative ambience, not the young, hip establishments we would normally frequent. What truly impressed me most was that the wait staff was down to earth. Our reservation was at 10 PM, an hour before closing time, but our waitress was incredibly genuine and nice. We were on the younger side of the age range in the restaurant but she was still very kind and humble and treated us like we could have been fifty year old hedge fund managers. She guided us through the menu, and while our final bill was expensive, the food was all delicious. I also highly recommend their gin and tonic with Bombay for anyone who is a gin fan! One of the best I have ever drank!

In a heavily (steakhouse) saturated market, service is everything. Someone should remind the snarky little tart at the hostess stand last Friday. Even the Manager could use a lesson in professional etiquette. Our group of 10, was all but turned away with not so much as an apology. Despite the open table reservation stating 20 minute wait. Problem with the kitchen, wait staff, manager or perhaps all the above. When I called, the manager had the audacity to provide the same low class level of service as his hostess. The food is good, but for $50+ a steak...good isn't good enough. Next time I'll take the few extra blocks to go Capital, where they have fabulous service.

Disappointed... We've been to many Morton's over the years and typically enjoy the food, service and ambiance... this location um not so much. Ordered the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer. Came out with the dry ice giving us the allure that it was ice cold as it should be.. nope.. luke warm, room temp = ugh not for shrimp. We sent it back. The tuna tower was delish and we enjoyed. After having three bottles of $200+ wine for the table - you'd think we'd get good service.. Spotty at best.. The steaks were good.. my salmon was good. the kicker is... we were there celebrating my birthday... and they brought out a lemon souffle with a candle. I thought "ooh... dessert... not what I would've ordered but thank you!" Only to find out we were charged $11 for the dessert... Fail. Alerted the manager, tweeted about the major fail and was told they would 'take care of us and make it right' next time we dined. It's not about the $11 it's about bringing you something you didn't order and charging you for it.. If I knew we were going to be charged... give me some chocolate to make it worth my while!

OMG!!! This is the best restaurant I have ever been to. We went there for my husband's birthday. The atmosphere was so romantic. They attended to our every needs. They also made a menu special for us and took a picture of us and everyone signed it. The food was finger licking delicious. It was awesome and I really can't wait to go back.

Morton's "Mini Prime Cheeseburgers" were listed as one of the top 100 must eats in the city by Denver Magazine, so I gave them a shot: Rating: 7 (out of 10) Price: $5 The Skinny: Yes, Morton's is a national chain. And yes, it's known for its steak. So how do their mini cheeseburgers get on a list of must eats? Because they're really, really damn good - better than 90% of the full grown burgers in town, that's how. The story goes that Mr. Morton met his eventual restaurant partner, Fritsch, while both were working in the Playboy clubs in Montreal. After tasting Fritsch's experimental burger for the club, Morton proclaimed it to be the best he had ever tasted, and still serves it large and small to his patrons 40 years later. I was pretty surprised by how much I liked these little guys. I guess I generally expect mini burgers to be inferior to full versions. Years of round patties burned to hell and awful bun-to-meat ratios have jaded me. Not these. These were cooked to a juicy medium rare, with just the right amount of toppings and bun to compliment the meat. After polishing off a plate of them, I nearly said to the waitress "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for more cheeseburgers today"... (bonus points to the first person to get that reference.) I've got a picture of it up on the blog on my profile jko

This place. Man, what a disaster. I've never had a worse experience at a steak place. I was shocked. It was my Grandpa's birthday and he loves a good steakhouse so we decided to go to Morton's because everyone seemed to be really pumped on the place and it's gotten good reviews thus far. He flew in from Los Angeles just for the occasion. Well, going to Morton's was definitely a mistake. First off, they forgot to place our orders with the kitchen. Let me repeat, THEY FORGOT TO PLACE OUR ORDERS WITH THE KITCHEN. It was my Grandpa's 81st birthday and they promised to make it special for him and they literally forgot about him. Just forgot. We waited for about an hour while everyone else around us were receiving their meals, moving onto dessert, and having a grand ol' time. Finally, we asked our waitress what the hold up was and she definitely did not let on to the fact that they had forgotten, but basically said, "Oh, I'll go check. They should be out by now." She then immediately RUNS to the kitchen, presumably to tell them "OH MY GOD PUT THE STEAKS ON!!!" So, literally five minutes later they come out with our steaks and we start to think that it might not be a total disaster after all. Nope. Nope. Nope. Don't let your guard down for a second in these steakhouses. We each cut into our steaks ready to chow down and not only is every single steak that was served to us undercooked, but they were completely raw. Literally, blood poured out of them. It was as if they were still on the cow. I kid you not. My little brother asks, "Is this what it's supposed to be like?" as he cuts into his bloody mess of a steak. "DON'T EAT IT. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON'T EAT THAT!," we clamor to yell as we literally swipe the fork out of his hand. When the waitress came back around to check on us, we informed her that all of our steaks weren't cooked, and she literally would not admit to any fault. She simply stated, "Well, you said you wanted your steaks medium." We asked her, "You call this medium?" and proceeded to show her the blood red interior of the steak. "Yep, that's medium." It was absolutely ridiculous! I have never in my entire life seen an entire table have to send back their meals. Never. I mean, it just doesn't happen. Actually, it SHOULDN'T happen. Not to mention the fact that there was no apology, no managerial visit, nothing. And it's all too bad because my Grandpa was really excited to try Morton's, but at this point, I don't think we will ever, ever come back.

We had our 35th wedding anniversary dinner. I am struggling with the rating because the food was good overall but the service was meh. The steak was great, the spinch salad was amazing, the creamed spinach was good (but not a match for Ruth Chris), the crab cake was just ok, but the service was less than what i expected. Our server was nice but seemed impatient. It took a REALLY long time between courses even to refill tea and water glasses on a slow Sunday night at the end of January. Not sure we'll be returning unless its on someone else's tab.

One of the best steakhouses in Denver! Gorgeous interior - dark woods, dark colors, very nice lighting, quiet, and cozy atmosphere. Service - top knotch! You don't need to ask for a thing, as everything, and I mean everything, is taken care of. No one is in your face, just there, watching and anticipating your needs before you even know what you need. Food - fabulous!!! Nothing was bad, undercooked, overcooked, salty, etc. Everything that we had was fabulous!!! Yes, the prices are HUGE, but so worth it. We went for my mother and father-in-laws 50th Anniversary, and none of us were disappointed. Parking - there is a public parking garage next door, and it's approximately $10 to park. There is also valet parking directly in front of the restaurant too. Also, there is metered parking around the area too, but I'd use the garage or the valet parking. I really can't say anything else. Yes, you will have a LARGE check once you are finished, so only go for very special occasions, but it is SO worth it. Oh, there is a Happy Hour there, which we will definitely check out one day. Thanks Morton's The Steakhouse, for making my mother and father-in-law's 50th Anniversary celebration special!

And so it was......OK My wife and I invited my in laws to go for dinner like many other times before and were pretty unimpressed with Mortons this time. Issues- nothing major, just those little things that you expect when you spend $300.00+ on dinner: 1. They didn't' refill our glasses of wine after the initial filling. Something you expect when you buy a bottle. 2. They didn't fold your napkin when you excused yourself from the Table to use the restroom...(we both noticed this) Both of these aren't deal breakers, but are what you expect from a restaurant of Mortons caliber. 3. and its a big one.....the Steaks were tough. My wife's was a little overdone, and mine was cooked OK, but they were tough! Not at all what we have had at Mortons in the past. I understand that Morton's was recently purchased by Landry's which is a big step backwards. In fact, one of the wait staff actually left their server credit card in the wine menu, confirming that fact. I had problems on Valentines Day this year with Simm's steakhouse which is also owned by them and although I commented to them about my experience, they didnt respond and evidently don't worry about competition from the other high end steak houses in Denver...Next stop, Elways or Shanahans!!

Amazing! Everything was delicious and service was fast and very friendly. A little on the pricey side but plates are a good size. My husband and I went on Valentine's Day and even got our photo taken. We will definitely be back again.

The best steak house in Denver in our opinion! The Filet Mignon was cooked to perfection - the service just excellent - the cost extremely reasonable - and the ambiance phenomenal. An awesome place to take clients, celebrate happy occasions or just go have dinner with family and friends!

I have been a fan of the Morton's chain of restaurants since I went for prom way back in high school. We went last night and had an exceptional experience. It was a celebration of sorts since my fiance had just finished taking the GMAT and got a pretty impressive score. We requested a booth via open table, but when we arrived none were available. They gave us the option of waiting at the bar until one opened up. Ten minutes later they had one cleared and ready for us. We started with a couple of cocktails which are not cheap by any means. $9.50 for a vodka soda, $14.25 for specialty cocktails. Michael ordered onion soup which was a fairly small portion (maybe a cup) for $11. We will skip that next time. Salads range from $11-13 and are quite large. We splurged big time and ordered the porterhouse for two carved at our table ($110). We also ordered the roasted brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. The steak was fantastic, but we only finished about 1/3 of it. It was HUGE. The brussels sprouts were perfect especially with the addition of bacon. We ended the evening with carrot cake and molten lava cake which were both great, but weren't necessary after everything we had eaten. With two salads, one soup, a couple of cocktails each, porterhouse for two, two sides and two desserts our bill was $300. It was definitely expensive. When we got home we found their $109.99 meal for two deal, and we would have gotten just as much food (smaller steaks) for less than half the price. Eek. I wish they posted that deal somewhere on their menu so we could have made a more informed (and frugal) decision.

We went here with a party of about 15 for our friends 30th birthday this past weekend. The food was absolutely amazing but the service was horrible. We were in the private room in the back of the restaurant and it seemed like we were almost forgotten about at times. It took about 15 minutes for us to order drinks and we were never asked if we wanted another round. I had to tell our server that I wanted another glass of wine when I ordered dinner. After we ordered dinner it took about an hour for our dishes to come out. During that time the majority of the table sat there without drinks and empty water glasses. We had also asked for more bread and butter since the meal was taking so long and that never came. When the food came my steak was a little over done but still amazing. Probably one of the most tender fillet's I have had in a long time. We also ordered the Brussel spouts and they were amazing as well. We all sat with empty plates for about 15 minutes after we were done eating before 5 staff members came to empty our table. At that time our server asked if we wanted dessert which at that time my boyfriend and I ordered the Cheesecake along with several other people that ordered desserts too. Another 20 minutes passed by with no questions of whether we wanted drink refills and empty water glasses. The Cheesecake was okay but the carrot cake was amazing, definitely a must have if you go. After we finally had our dessert and payed our bill it had turned into a two course 3.5 hour dinner. I am not sure if our server had other tables, but the restaurant was not that busy for a Saturday night to begin with. There were empty tables throughout the whole time we were there. I would like to mention that they did offer to take a group picture for our friends birthday and then gave us copies of the picture for free, which we thought was a nice gesture!

Sadly, it appears an Icon has run it's course. We went on Wednesay night to avoid the 5280 crowds and we over exceeded there. The place was a morgue. Even the valets out front were bored out of their minds. We started with the hot appetizer platter, and while everything was cooked ok (I guess) it was really uninspired. It came out looking like a bunch of sloppy mess and just not what I'd expect at this price point. I followed with the tomato salad, also a sloppy mess and just ok. Even the filet didn't seem to be be the same quality as "the old days" and certainly didn't hold a candle to other steakhouses in town. Service was tired, kind of scattered and uncomfortable. They do still make a classic and awesome gin martini. There are just too many other good choices in Denver to waste money here.

I have been coming here for over 20 years, just ate there last night with friends. Now, I haven't been there for at least a year, but It's just not the same as it used to be. Lack luster to tell you the truth, both the food and the service.. Sorry I wish I had better to report. You guys need to up ur game...

Mortons in my opinion is the finest of all the steakhouses in Colorado. It recently shut down their dtc location which was a major let down. They have a better wait staff and tastier food than both Shanahan's and Delf Friscos, altothough their enviroments may suit others better. Mortons is the place for somone who just wants to eat the best meal, not someone who just wants to be seen. The best food in CO, their shrimp alexander is literally to die for.

we've been to this location three times in the last 5 years, and each visit was excellent. we were there last week, and it was no different than the previous 2 visits. i read that morton's is now under the ownership of landry's, but it made no difference to the quality of the food nor the quality of the service. as this was a major celebration for the 2 of us, we decided to splurge. for app, we ordered the jumbo lump crab cake and the jumbo shrimp cocktail. as you may have read in my previous reviews, i'm a bit of a 'HO when it comes to crab cakes. and these have to be the best crab cakes i've ever had. as for the jumbo shrimp cocktail, HOLY SH*T, they're not kidding when they say "jumbo". those shrimp are so big, i'd be scared to come across those live buggers on a scuba diving trip. i'd be afraid they'd bite my frickin' hand off..! we decided to share our entrees, so we ordered the chicago-style bone-in ribeye and a 2.5-lb whole maine lobster. the ribeye was top-notch DELISH DELISH DELISH!!! wifey normally orders filet, but she really enjoyed half my meat. =) as for the lobster- it was excellent. i mean, how could you really f*ck up a lobster anyway?? our sides were the grilled asparagus and the sauteed wild mushrooms. OMG, i've never had more tasty sides. the asparagus were grilled and seasoned to perfection, drizzled with world-class balsamic vinegar. the wild mushrooms simply reaffirmed my love for the tasty little fungi. morton's hasn't changed at all, and the food and service is still TOP NOTCH. it's a classic steak house.

We hadn't been to Morton's in a few years but have always had a wonderful experience in the past. We went last Saturday night for our wedding anniversary and brought another couple who had never been there. It was an embarrassing evening for us, and in hindsight I wish I would have checked out some recent reviews, but I never thought in a million years we would have a bad night there. Our server was attentive and generally good, but she did not know what kind of vodka they carried when my friend asked, so she had to check at the bar and come back. When I made my martini order, the gal was pushing a certain brand of vodka hard. She was so interested in making the up-sell and talking about the distillery, she forgot I ordered my martini dirty. Instead of bringing me the correct drink, she brought me a glass of olive juice so I could DIY. While we were waiting for our first course, we were looking around and realized that the dress code was non-existent. A good portion of the clientele were there in jeans. There was a man in a hoodie at the next table, then across from us were 2 couples, all in jeans, flipflops, and one girl had on a men's underwear tank-top for a shirt. Basically, the same dress code as McDonald's. One of the men at that table was so drunk, he fell backwards out of his chair onto the floor. He then broke some glasses a waiter walking behind him was carrying. The glasses broke in front of our booth, and the server picked up some of the big pieces and left the rest of it on the floor. The broken glass was still there when we left. The couple next to us had wine spilled on them from the drunk so they had their meal comped. At this point, you would have thought that the manager would have helped these train-wrecks out the door, but no, they brought them fresh wine glasses! We got our food and it was very good so that was the best part of the evening. While waiting for desert, my girlfriend and I went into the restroom and I found a baggie with pills in it in the stall. I told her what I found and at that point we had all had it. We didn't even stay for desert, we had it bagged up to go and got the heck out of there. There are so many other nice places to go in Denver, do not waste your time and money at Morton's. Their glory days are long gone.

What a wonderful experience. This steakhouse is hard to beat. The food, the service, the atmosphere set a bar for all other restaurants. Here is a cool tip: I made reservations ahead of time and advised it was my birthday. Upon being seated, I was presented with a personalized menu wishing me a happy birthday. Its the small things in life that make a lasting impact. The staff also took a picture and placed the photograph in a picture folder where everybody had signed there names. I'll be back as soon as I can ;)

Delicious food, and so much! But when your tab for two people with no alcoholic beverages is $200 with the tip, the service needs to be way better than it already is. Our server had little knowledge about the menu, and never checked on us after food was brought. We had to ask for the check when we were clearly finished for about 10 minutes, which just should not happen. I hope they figure out their staff, because the food is so far unbeatable.

I've noticed a trend in my reviews lately that would make me think that there is no way I would give a 5 star review to Mortons. That trend has me being critical of the pricing at many establishments, with the premise of "this is a shitty economy, you should be offering good value and helping everyone keep more of their $$$". So Bobby T., how can you give 5 stars to one of the most expensive restaurants in Denver? Seeing how you're always griping about spending too much, how can you even be GOING to Mortons?" The answer, my friends, is Power Hour! Yes, Mortons is doing a happy hour of sorts. It's everyday except Saturdays from 5:00 - 6:30. I think they do it again from 9 PM to close, but I could be wrong. During this Power Hour you can get the best chicken strips in Denver for $5. A big plate, too. Or 3 mini cheeseburgers - $5. 4 Prime Rib Sliders - $5. 3 mini crab cakes - $5. There are more of these apps, but I forget them all. There's more. Several beers (I usually get the Sam Adams seasonal) - $5. Large pours of house red or white wine - $6. Like the food, there are other drink specials, but I can only tell you what I know. Also, they have been running some really good and (ahem) frugal dinner specials. $99 for 2 people gets you 2 apps, a salad, 2 mains, a shared veggie or potato, and a shared dessert. My wife and I did this for our last anniversary and it was at least reasonable for us to splurge a little and eat at Mortons. The one thing I could do without: the whole tray of meat presentation. Don't need it. Don't care for it. Don't do it. Get to Mortons. You won't be sad.

On the topic of "The boy's club", Morton's will be at the tip of your tongue. Like all well known, high end, American chains, Morton's maintains it's reputation by maintaining it's quality of service, quality of food, and quality of smooching (if you know what I mean). Great late night HH specials. Amazing drinks served by a truly knowledgeable bartender. No doubt, again, a top of the line experience. Some things never change...and that's a good thing.

Mortons is easily one of the top restaurants in Denver. I went with my husband and a couple we know and had a great time with good food, excellent service, and lots of cheer! Their wine selection is superb (if you read my other reviews, we are always on a quest for wine from Western Australia because my husband is SO picky). I had the filet and a few different sides, but I remember the potatoes being delicious. It was a very cozy atmosphere but I was appalled by a man toting three nasty call girls- ew! Other than that, it was GREAT!

Morton's in downtown Denver is delicious. It's soooooooooo expensive but sooooooooo good! Look at spending $200+ for a couple picking 3 courses with sides. I totally recommend the following appetizers/entrees: Seared Scallops wrapped with Bacon Oysters Rockefeller Crab Cakes Colossal Shrimp Surf n Turf Appetizer Carousel Porterhouse Ribeye Bone-In Asparagus with Bernaise Sauce Like most Morton's, you're greeted by a red carpet, walk down into the inviting dining room and tables packed with happy faces with sounds of laughter. The noise level was quite loud, packed house for a Friday night. Everyone dressed business like or even casual. Though you can go dressy. The service was excellent! The waiter was so eloquent. He memorized the entire menu, why read through it when you can listen to it. He offered the Good, the Bad, and the no one ever orders verbal menu. Fantastic! He checked in at appropriate times and same with the general manager. 5 stars for food and service. 4 stars for the dining atmosphere.

So, we WERE big fans of Mortons Steakhouse in LoDo. We usually go there for really special occasions, like birthdays and anniversaries. We pretty much expect a superb dining experience, based on the cost and the reviews. We went there on June 5th for our Anniversary and were VERY disappointed by the service, the ambiance and the quality of the food. We ordered the summer special, which includes smaller portions of appetizers, salads, filet and dessert. Granted, we didn't order the more expensive options off the menu, but that shouldn't exclude us from having the same quality meal as anyone else there (I've definitely blown LOTS of money at Mortons in the past). First off, I ordered the Ahi Tuna Stack. Now, I was 36 weeks pregnant and was taking a risk ordering raw tuna; but, I figured that if anyone would serve it fresh, it'd be Mortons. NOT the case. The tuna tasted and smelled OLD. I had my husband taste to double check, and he agreed it was old. We called over the waitress to tell her and she assured us that "they only serve the freshest food prepared THAT day" at Mortons. Um, thanks for that AND this is old and I'm not eating it. Thankfully, I didn't get sick. She eventually offered to replace the appetizer with another. We both had the filet and it was just OK. The dessert was fine. The salad was OK. I'm not really sure what's going on with the overall quality of food served at Morton's, but this is NOT the quality I'm used to there. The service was, at best, spotty. Our waitress was sometimes interested in our dining experience and, at other times, seemed to disappear. She also didn't seem to have the best grasp of what was on the menu. We asked a few minor details of some of the dishes offered and she didn't really know the answers. Probably the most disturbing part of the evening was when I went to use the restrooms. The restrooms were disgusting. I went into one stall where someone had obviously had a horrible stomach issue and almost had my own stomach issue. I ran out and used another stall, but there was water and paper towels everywhere. I awkwardly let the host know about the horrifying state of the restrooms. It basically ruined my experience of the entire dinner. So, suffice to say that we'll be checking out some of the other upscale steakhouse options in Denver for our next experience....

Picture a group of oh, about 25 disorganized people looking to celebrate on the final night of the Great American Beer Festival in Denver. Try calling around that afternoon to any Steakhouse in the City for a large reservation and you will likely be scoffed at by a surly hostess who will not be interested in helping you, or perhaps quoting you a time 4 hours later than you wanted. Enter Morton's into the picture. Available for our large, hungry party happened to be a separate, enclosed side-room to accommodate us at the time of night we really wanted. (Did they know we'd be noisy trouble ahead of time?). The attentive service and quality of the ingredients more than make up for two small things: the bar is a little small and awkward, and the presentation of all the raw ingredients on a cart before ordering seemed a little unnecessary. Other than that, a fantastic night out and much more friendly than other restaurants we frequented in the Downtown Denver area. You can be sure I will suggest this one to the group should we be back for GABF in 2010!!

Mmmm mmmm good. Morton's is classic and the downtown Denver location continues the heritage with excellent service and food. Steaks are the only thing you should consider at Morton's they do them right. We had a date night there a few weeks back and loved everything about the meal. I'd pu them up against the other steak houses in Denver any day.

This place is what a Steakhouse should be. The staff from start to finish is friendly yet professional. I always feel like I went back in time to the 40's or 50's. I've tried several different steaks here, and they have no competition downtown. Excellent wine and beverage selection. Warm and calming decor. Great for a romantic dinner or eating at the bar. I recommend the Chicago bone in ribeye, with mushrooms on the side. The bisque is also incredible, and the oysters are always fresh. One of my top 5 for sure.

Went to Morton's last night for a dinner before Les Mis. The GM who sat us was extremely friendly but then left on an awkward note after telling us a weird story about his ex wife. The waiter was friendly as well. We let him know at the beginning that we needed to be out of the by 7pm to make the show on time. Seeing as we sat down at 5:45 I did not think this would be a problem. I have been to numerous high end steakhouses, but this was by far the most expensive. I'm fine with paying for quality, but I cannot differentiate this from the rest. My steak was overdone, but the side of mac n cheese was delicious. My girlfriend filet and scallops were decent, but not worth $50. For a high end restaurant, I also felt like I was in a cave. The place has a dated look to it and no windows to allow any light in. At 6:50 I asked for our check and reminded the waiter we needed to be gone within 10 minutes. He then proceeded to bring out the dessert tray instead, having forgot what our timetable was. Overall, the food is good.....but only that. Def not $50 an entree good. Drinks are very pricey as well....$8.50 for a smirnoff and water. The decor and atmoshphere also does not math the menu's price point.

Aweful. There are way better steakhouses. This chain has run its course. If you are a foodie, avoid. If you like Chili's and Applebee's. This is you place.

I just left Morton's downtown from Denver restaurant week and I wasn't at all impressed. As soon as my date and I arrived we waited about three minutes to be seated, which in my opinion is too long for a guest to wait without someone at least acknowledging them. While we were waiting the sommelier did say hello and move through us to get to another's guests wine locker. The hostess who seated us told us that our waiter would bring menus(why were they not at the host stand?), but she forgot to tell the waiter who arrived at our table shortly after with no menus. We then then got a drink and ordered our food. Then the GM comes over and asked how were doing, barely hears that we are just ok before throwing down his business card and telling us to contact him if we need anything. As if I was going to fax the guy while I waited for my steak. While waiting for our food the sommelier comes over and began to quickly rattle off about how good a bottle of wine was before being told by the waiter that it was another table that had ordered it. He slightly apologized and walked off. I wanted a glass of wine but the waiter didn't seem to know what I wanted so I asked for the in house somm, he never stopped by. I told the waiter that he never stopped by and the waiter offered me a bottle of something completely different that what I wanted, to which I asked again to see the sommelier. He never arrived. We had one server initially, some other server brought the food, only one was on water/bread duty, and then we finished out the night with another server. To be fair and honest, the steak was very well made! Compliments to the chef here! Potatoes were good, as was the Caesar salad, none of the advertised anchovies on said salad, and dessert was just ok. However the entire ambiance of the place felt like a low quality steak house, everyone seemed to be rushing and yet no one could help us out. I understand that its restaurant week but that is not an excuse for poor service. I'm currently in the hospitality industry, I've served for four years at fine dining and casual fast paced dining restaurants. Ive been to steakhouses before during restaurant week so don't overlook this review as some sob story about the worst night of my life. The one person that really made me feel like they cared about my experienced was the valet; he was honest and sincere. Everyone else seemed disingenuous or apathetic. Seeing as how I have the gm's card I suppose I'll shoot him an email expressing my dissatisfaction. But as for yet I would cut out Morton's from restaurant week and any special occasion and opt for capital grille.

I was in the area for a convention and my bosses took the company here for dinner. The service was great, the waiter came around every 10 minutes to see how we were doing. They gave us complimentary bread, but it was onion bread! Who eats onion bread?? They brought out different steaks and a live lobster to show us what was on the menu. I had to order the lobster. BIG MISTAKE. Well it did look good, however, I stuck my fork and knife in the lobster but the meat did not want to come out. I ended up using my hands and yanking it out. It tasted bland and had the texture of rubber. It was extremely thick and chewy. Totally not worth the price. Maybe it was my mistake. I should never order anything else but steak at a STEAKHOUSE.

Coach and I recently had the pleasure of going to a Chimay tasting here. The tastings take you to one of the back rooms, I believe they call it a boardroom, where you can mingle with others and the people running the show. I kind of thought this would be a lot like other tastings I've been to where you have about 2 swallows of whatever you're trying. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I mean, I do know the definition of "a taste." But, here they let us sample 3 different types of Chimay with hearty pours. I'd guess around 5 or 6 ounces. Then you could go back and get a full glass of whichever you preferred. You could actually get as many glasses as you wanted in the time allotted to the event as I recall. Besides the beer, we also got to sample some more of Morton's menu. They passed around small bites of the tuna tartare, mini beef sandwiches, and little chocolate lava cakes the entire time. It was super delicious and well worth the $35 it cost to go to the event. The bottom line is, if you've wanted to try Morton's for a while, but weren't sure about going all in, or if you've been and just want a nice little sample, their tasting events will meet your needs quite nicely.

You know what I love about Morton's? The fact that the staff doesn't make you feel like an idiot if you don't know which fork is the correct one to use at what point in the meal. Yes, I visited with six of my co-workers. Yes, we drink a lot. Yes, we tend to get rowdy. But they didn't seem to mind. The staff at Morton's sat us smack dab in the middle of the restaurant - where everyone could hear our loud (and sometimes crude) conversations, and where everyone could gawk at us. Let 'em gawk... we had fun! On to the food... Steak was delicious. The sides were amazing... well, the macaroni and cheese was, anyway. And the creamed spinach was alright. But that steak... I went with the double-cut filet, Oscar style. I'm drooling. The desserts? That chocolate cake was so good. Next time I'm ordering extra raspberries with it. The souffle? Not so sure about that one... the middle is warm and raw-dough like. Maybe that's what it's supposed to be like, but still... weird. Also, you have to order your desserts with your meal. Because they cook them to order, which is cool, but if you forget to pre-order, you're out of luck. I think. What we did? Ordered a couple rounds of martinis, got quite a few oysters in us, got another round of martinis, ordered our steaks and desserts, then compulse-ordered a three-and-a-half pound lobster. Your turn to drool, now. Switched to wine, ate our meals, drank some more wine, then did shots of Ouzo, ate our desserts, then burped while we patted our full bellies. It was most excellent. So if you witnessed me and my group - I'm so sorry if we interrupted your "fine dining" experience. You should have joined us, you would have had fun. And just a note, in case you're wondering how expensive it really is - seven people and the tab was well over a grand. Just saying.

After seeing The Nutcracker the bf brought me here. It was a Xmas/Anniversary gift/I said I wanted steak & martinis. I know this place is supposed to be fancy and upscale but I don't think grossly marking things up makes it fancy. It was completely dead at 930 on a Friday night so service was pretty good. They bring out the cuts of meat on a tray...and a live lobster, which scared the hell out of me and also made me sad and have nightmares for a few nights. I must have been boiled alive in a past life because it really gives me the willies. Anyway, about the booze, there isn't a martini on the menu under $17. I expected them to be pricey buuuut not like this. I ordered off the menu and got 1 grey goose and 1 Skyy martini, the Skyy was $13...for SKYY! I get that grain fed beef makes the beef "taste better" in some opinions but if I am paying $50 for a steak I don't want it to be from a feedlot. I don't know if it is from a feedlot but corn fed makes me think that. That said they are cooked well. Sides are $10 and up. Yep for onions and mushrooms it will cost over $10. Again, I know this place is supposed to be expensive but come on that is a ginormous mark up! The service was pretty good, they were aware it was an anniversary and hooked us up with some cake on the house.

Expensive splurge but the food quality, ambiance and service are worth it. Surprisingly, the bar appetizer menu is a wonderful deal and you can order items from the regular menu, too. Makes for a much more affordable evening out.

We went here for New Years Eve. Ordered their version of a Manhattan that tasted like pure alcohol and asked for a different drink. i decided on an Old Fashioned which was better than the Manhattan but not by much. Really guys? $15 for a drink and you can't make it right? Food was good, not great though. Had the short ribs and sea scallops dish. Short ribs wine sauce was a bit salty, but the Short ribs were cooked nice. Scallops were good. But at $40 for the dish, I expect perfect or close to it. Waiter didn't seem to smile at all during the whole meal and just seemed to give us looks when we complained about something (like my drinks for instance. He also said he misheard my friend order a salmon instead of a sea bass, when everyone heard it perfectly, we think he screwed up the order.) The assistant waitress was much nicer, why could she be the main waiter? Overall a real disappointment. I think this place might of been the ultimate for steaks 20-30 years ago. But time has passed it by and most people who eat there are probably there because it's the steakhouse they grew up with. Save your money and go to Elways or Cap Grille, much more modern day than Morton's and great steak too.

After bowling with the wife on our, "long time coming", date night without the rugrat, we decided to cap off our dwindling alone time with reservations at a good restaurant. After a few clicks on my Open Table Blackberry app, we were set for dinner at Morton's. Similarly to when we decided last minute to go to Elway's a while back, we weren't really dressed for Morton's. We didn't realize this until we walked in and were greeted by the tuxedo wearing maitre d'. At that point I figured we'd get snooty service. Boy was I wrong. They treated my wife and I like king and queen throughout the entire stay. The ordering process brings a personal touch that's often rare to find. They give you a visual menu presentation table side. This was a first for us and it was very impressive. They bring out a smorgusborg of different cuts of USDA prime beef, fresh vegetables and seafood selections to include flown in daily Maine Lobster. To start the meal, I chose a wedge salad with bleu cheese while the wife oredered the ceasar. We both chose ribeyes; mine prepared Cajun style, and hers prepared the standard way. The Cajun style ribeye, cooked medium, was juicy and tender, not to mention seasoned perfectly. I ate every bite and managed to still have room for the Lyonnaise potatoes. I ordered a medium priced Shiraz to wash it all down. The price is not for those looking for a cheap meal, so buyer beware. This is a place that caters to those who consider themselves high class, so don't be surprised to overhear high rollers bragging about there investments or upper crusters yapping about mountain retreats. If that kind of thing bothers you, skip this place. I gotta say though, the staff treated us very well, despite our casual appearance, for that reason I'll dress up next time and try Morton's again.

Well, we finally tried Morton's again. We used the gift certificate the manager gave us. This time we went early and it was not crowded at all. We were sat in a very nice, large booth. Our waitress was very nice, very knowledgable and extremely attentive. Then the two kids nearby begin screaming. And screaming. I was shocked to see that no staff or management did anything about it. It began to be hard to relax and hear your own conversation. Finally the family left, and the manager approached them and said please come back! omg, please do not come back. Please keep your screaming children at home until they can behave like decent kids appropriate for dining out. The food was delicious. My husband's food was entirely too rich. He had a steak with some type of sauce on it. I ordered a highly overpriced mixed seafood appetizer. While good, no way could I ever justify paying $43 for 2 shrimp, 2 lumps of crab, 1 king crab leg cut in half, and 2 oysters. sheesh. So I'm not sure how to rate this place. 5 stars for great service. 1 star for allowing their restaurant to turn into a chuckEcheese if only for a moment. 1 star for crazily priced food. Average will put me at 3.5.

Great place to go if your looking to celebrate a special event in your life or if your just loaded. Food was good and service was fantastic, I'm just not a big fan of the prices. It would be one thing if you got what you paid for, don't get me wrong the portions are more than filling, it just feels like you should get more bang for your buck. Great place to celebrate a anniversary, birthday, ...etc. and will definitely be going back once I'm done paying off the payment plans from my last visit.

For me personally, this is the best steakhouse in Denver. I'm not exactly sure why. Part of it is history since I've been eating here since the old days when Morton's was at the Tivoli (I still prefer that location to the present one). I liked it so much, as matter of fact, that my picture was on the wall - maybe it still is but I haven't checked lately. What should have been on the wall along with my picture was my cholesterol count. So, I don't eat there as often as I used to. But still, for a special occasion, I love it. So, what to eat? What to eat? I say do the classic. For me, that's a good martini (ice cold up - never on the rocks - one olive - one onion). I call it a Gibini (half martini/half gibson). Followed by a dozen oysters on the half shell if the server says they're absolutely fresh. If not the Shrimp Chef Alexander will do just fine (big ass shrimp topped with buttered bread crumbs and beurre blanc). Next share a Morton's salad (mix of romaine and iceberg with great blue cheese and chopped egg). The main - well, duh? A New York strip medium rare and the best cabernet I can afford. I really don't need a side at this point but they have the usual suspects - bakers with all the goodies, hashed browns, fresh veggies (asparagus or broccoli) with decent hollandaise, you get the picture. I have toyed upon occasion with dessert but usually don't have room. The Grand Marnier souffle is pretty light and can be shared. Maybe a cognac to fortify you for the check which is going to blow your mind. Really, about the only complaint I have is the stupid rolling cart menu presentation. I know what raw meat looks like for god's sake. If you have the means, I highly recommend that you give this place a try.

They put on quite a show here, showing you the available meats, dishes, and desserts on carts and explaining the preparation of every single dish. It has the atmosphere of any higher scale steakhouse, including the manager that comes by your table to chat and offer free drink samples. The food was pretty good - yummy steaks and asparagus. I feel that you're paying more for the atmosphere and service than for the food, though. If you're looking to impress someone, Morton's is a good place to start.

The one thing that Morton's does well is cook a steak. Any way you can imagine a steak being done, they not only do it, but do it right. Hands down the best steak in Denver. Now, their wine list is not all that impressive for that scale of a restaurant and is rather expensive, even for a high end place. If you looking for a high end fancy steak place you can't go wrong with Morton's.

There is the old saying you get what you pay for. That is certainly true at Morton's. Expensive, yes, but fantastic. When we exited our cab, we walked right past the door. After some stopping and staring, and of course some laughter, we found it and continued on our way. Down a corridor and into *gasp* a dining room and bar that were somehow both large and small. The decor was very old-school. Huge flower arrangements, dark wood, low light. I could almost envision Tony Soprano with John Sacrimoni having a sit down. I digress. Within moments we were seated and as we made ourselves at home water and a HUGE loaf of bread were brought. We had 2 servers and I think that is the way to do it. There is always someone familiar on the floor, and they seem to have ESP about what everyone at the table has ordered. The wine list was staggering. Our party ordered both cocktails (mmm) and got a fantastic bottle of pinot noir thanks to Jan. When they brought the menu, it was on a tray. As in cuts of meat, vegetables and EEK! a live lobster!! But, being a visual person, visual aids are always wonderful. Then after the presentation paper menus were available. All of the food was fantastic. Some of the best I have had in Denver in all honesty. I also totally fell in love with our waitresses. They were attentive without keeping us from conversation, and it felt like they really cared. All in all I would recommend Morton's to everyone; from my mom, to the out-of towner. A true five star restaurant.

Took my girlfriend here for her birthday and we had a spectacular dinner. When I made the reservation I mentioned that it was her birthday and when we arrived they had printed a special menu for us with her name on it. The "live" menu was an interesting spin on things but added to the intimate setting. I had the double cut filet and she had the lobster tail. It was fabulous. We also had our picture taken by the waiter and got a free desert on the house. All in all a great night. Pricey but worth it once a year for a celebration.

They cook steaks perfectly. Their drinks are steakhouse size. The service is impecable. But everything else on the menu misses the mark. Had the lobster last night and it was over cooked, tasteless and cold. We normally eat here a few times a year but have recently noticed that the quality of the food seems to be going downhill. Which is a shame because the dining room staff does a top notch job. And they recent increased their prices without investing in the quality of what they serve.

I don't know why everyone is so determined to give this particular Morton's a five-star rating. You can get better food, comparable service, and more atmosphere at any number of restaurants around LoDo such as Sullivans or McCormicks without paying anything close to these grotesquely inflated prices. I don't mind and can afford to pay a lot for a great restaurant meal, but this experience was nothing like that. I can grill a steak on my patio BBQ as good as theirs. I don't care how good a potato is: a potato is still just a potato, and btw, I don't need to be shown what a potato looks like or a beefsteak tomato or a bunch of asparagus or a cut of beef for that matter. I'm not sure anyone here really understands the concept of ambience, because basically Morton's had none when we were there. In addition, they sat us next to some utility table where the servers were constantly staging other people's meals and annoying us greatly. And don't get me started on the wine prices. $9.75 for 6 oz. of a Columbia Crest merlot that retails for $7/bottle? Please! Basically, Morton's Steakhouse in Denver is a grotesquely prententious and overpriced Applebees without the menu selection, flat screens, energy, or retro curios on the walls. People need to stop doling out 5-star ratings to this place and admit the emperor has no clothes.

The Morton's franchise has never disappointed. Until I visited the Morton's in downtown Denver. Having made reservations for four over a week in advance, I was stunned to learn upon arrival that they had not only the wrong number in my party, but also didn't have room to accompany us. They only had a small table for two, even though we had requested in advance a table for four (they had six on our reservation). Now, given that they had overbooked us, wouldn't it make sense that their wait staff would have reserved a booth that sat more than two persons? Instead, they made us wait in the bar area for over an hour while other patrons were dining. There was no apology offered by the manager, and we were made to feel as if we were inconvenience to the staff rather than the other way around. The service, needless to say, was disappointing. Whenever I want to enjoy fine dining in downtown Denver, rather than Morton's, I now enjoy Charlie Palmers or Ruth Chris. This Morton's in Denver does the brand injustice.

If only....you get what you pay for. At Morton's you pay a lot for ambiance and the buzz you get by paying extra in the name of sheer extravagance. I used to frequent Morton's in Chicago, and I remember it being a much, much better experience. Next time, I'll go a block north to the Keg, or over to Elway's and have a better steak, in a more pleasant environment, with less pretense, and tip the valet the extra $40/head I would have spent if I had gone to Morton's again. It's not that great, and I don't imagine I'll ever be back.

A few months ago, I considered going veggie again. You know, get healthy, save some cows, save the planet, become Alicia Silverstone*, blah blah blah. After last night's visit to Morton's**, I know that I am a weak-willed human being. I love me some steak, and at Morton's they know how to do it up right. My dining companions and I agreed that this isn't necessarily the place you'd go for a night out on the town with your girlfriends--but it *is* the kind of place you'd go if you want to impress someone. The restaurant has an old-school classic charm and coziness to it, from the décor, to the way staff is attired (starched white shirts and bowties for the servers, suits for everyone else), to the way the menu is presented, your meal is served, and even cleared. Yep, you guessed it, they use the crumb scraper here, folks. For newbs--since I'm not one now--your server will wheel out a cart with a giant silver tray bearing their best cuts of meat, a lobster the size of Rhode Island, and their veggie side dishes. If you didn't manage to remember everything, you'll then be handed a menu so you can choose your meal. When you order dinner, you'll be told about their specialty dessert soufflés--because if you want one, you have to order it then to give it cooking time. I started with a heavenly cosmo while the girls sampled a pinot noir recommended by one of our servers, and we shared a crab cake to die for--no skimping here, all crabby deliciousness with a tasty dipping sauce--and the tuna tartare, great presentation, but fried crab beats raw tuna in my book any day. We also shared a lettuce wedge with handmade bleu cheese dressing (heaven) and a Caesar (meh.) However (drumroll) the steaks stole the evening - a perfectly cooked double cut filet cooked medium rare and a specialty strip steak covered with bacon and bleu cheese. It's tacky to ask for a doggie bag, right? For dessert we shared a gigantic slice of rich carrot cake that had me wishing I'd saved a little bit of room, oh, plus a little glass of port. Well, because, that's what you do when you're at Morton's. I will be back, no doubt. Perhaps with a client (who is wining and dining me?) or someone I'm trying really hard to impress. *I don't really want to become Alicia Silverstone. I actually think she's kind of annoying. **I was asked to dine at Morton's as a guest of the restaurant so did not pay for my meal. However, I do feel like my party got fair service and after chatting with our server Jan, who has worked there for 18 years, I feel confident that we weren't getting any superstar treatment.

I am always impressed when I go to mortons steakhouse, I think its the best steak in town. I also enjoyed the side dishes that they have there and the atmosphere that they provide is very close to the one in chicago. The place just flat out rocks for a nice dinner if your by your self or on a nice date. It's always a good meal.

I've been to many a Morton's, but only recently to the Denver location. Just like the other locations...Morton's aim for perfection. One of the best wine list -- for sure. Whether it be by the glass or by the bottle, Morton's has all my favs. I always have the same thing at Morton's -- Oysters, Fillet Mignon, and asparagus. Oh, and the Caesar Salad. I always over order and end up leaving too much on my plate, and end up saying the same thing...next time, I'm ordering less !! Not easy to do here, as you want to taste all those familiar yummy foods. Sure, it's terribly expensive, but when you factor in the quality, the level of service, and the peace of mind knowing you'll have a terrific meal...it's well worth the cost.

hmm... went there last night with a friend, i would like to ban chains and give more business to the little people, family owned local operated restaurant what not... or is that i haven't had a steak in 6 months... or my date knowing the waiter who made the bill very nice. we got there pretty late last minute dinner... i know... carbs are a skinny person enemy but the bread had like little bits of burnt onions or garlic what not and with the half pound of butter i put on it made it only more delicious. i love onion soup, flavors were nice but this one was a bit salty but i did eat all the melted cheese that was on top of the soup! we got the shrimp Alexander, i thought the shrimp were baked perfectly with the light amount of bread coating, the white wine beurre blanc sauce was very nice and a great accompany to the shrimp but that sauce would go well with anything seafood .... drools.(i love sauces) steak came out, i practically like it mooing at me, with a hot pink center. success! and the mash potatoes were great! I was upset that i didn't bring a bigger appetite but don't worry i didn't let the creme brulee go to waste =]

Holy Cow! As good as Denver gets. The service is impeccable, the food is always amazing as is the wine. We go every six months or so, and we have never had less than a perfect experience. NOT cheap, but such a great place for special occasions that Denver wouldn't be the same without it.

I've been to several Morton's but this was my first visit to this Denver location. I was on a bizness trip with a colleague. First off, I forgot just how dark it is in there. I'm all for ambiance and all that but this is actually a bit too dark for my taste. We were seated right away, food was great but the service was just awful. This really surprised me since I always remembered Morton's as having great service. We ordered a cocktail while perusing the menu. Having long finished the cocktail and our decisions on our order, the waiter finally came back to take our order. He asked if we wanted another cocktail but we said were planning to order a bottle of wine to share. Given that our food did not come out for a loooooooooooooooong, long, long time, it really would have been nice to have the wine to sip while we chatted and waited but the wine was not presented until we were well into our meals. Had I been with a friend, I probably would have spoke up but I didn't want my colleague to think I was a big boozer or something. Turns out he was thinking the exact same thing. Also, this was on a Tuesday night and the place was probably 1/4 full. All in all, I'd say the food was fantastic but the service sucked.

I have to agree with the previous review; the worst service I have ever experienced at Morton's. I love this restaurant chain. While it is expensive, okay ridiculously over-priced, the food is outstanding and the steak can't be beat. I also like the ambiance; dark wood, subdued lighting, and huge wine bottles looming everywhere. This location did not disappoint on the food, but the service was very poor. Our server was very friendly and professional, he just did not come around very often! There was a large group sitting by us, obviously on an expense account, and they had two dedicated servers and the assistant manager buzzing around their table at all times. Unfortunately, this left us in the cold. Everything took longer than it should have, even waiting 15 minutes for them to charge my credit card after they brought the bill. When you pay this kind of money, you expect great service and this was not the case. I am actually going to write Morton's because they might have just lost a long time customer.

I was a little disappointed with their service and meat for our company party. We had three round tables, one of tables got drinks and service right away. We had to flag someone down to take our order and the same with our third table. When we did order it took almost 15 minutes for our drinks to come from the bar. For as expensive as the restraunt is, I would expect A+ service, especially with 25 people. You know that tab is going to be large. I would probably not return and go to our regular steak restraunts that we know we are going to get excellent service and great food at simliar prices.

At Morton's, "Meat it's what's for dinner." Established in Chicago in 1978 as a speakeasy spin-off, Morton's has gained recognition as one of America's choice upscale steakhouses. This is the restaurant where the big names and fat cats use to score a fresh fish or a portly Porterhouse. Today they still sit over their steaks mirrored by framed photographs of their younger years. Buttoned up in starched whites and black bowties the wait staff imparts pure professionalism and a prolific knowledge of the bill of fare. The waitresses introduce the menu through a parade of raw flesh and uncooked vegetables; a rudimentary visual of your potential meal, unencumbered by spices and sauces and wrapped tightly in cellophane. This presentation is a classy touch but I find it a bit carnivoric for my pre-dinner preview. I prefer my menu in black and white which might require a flashlight in this low lit environment. The menu is pricy but well worth the expense featuring an array of the finest cuts of meat and a smaller assortment of seafood. The Jumbo Lump Crabmeat Cocktail contains no traces of the sea and offers a palate that is both clean and luxurious when dipped in a mustard mayonnaise sauce. This dish will blow your devilled eggs right out of the water. The Chopped Salad is scrumptious and elaborately dressed with a flare of finely diced ingredients. Epicurean steaks are sensually seared with an interior that drapes lavishly across your taste buds. All items are a la carte and may I suggest a side of fresh spinach and mushrooms? The combination of these sauted flavors is just short of robust but earthy enough to enjoy. This old school, dark wood encased restaurant is the ideal venue for the older sophisticated country club crowd or for a young 20 something when her mother comes to town. For me Morton's is a special occasion stop off but it has gained my respect with a staple of cream of the crop cuisine. If you want a steak in downtown Denver, this place tops The Capital Grill.

I felt pretty special when I walked up the stairs outside this place - on a red carpet. Very fancy. But then it was like walking into a dark, stuffy, hot basement... I had a long day and really wanted a drink. It took f o r e v e r. But I must say it was the bombest wine I've ever tasted once it hit the lips (old vine red zin). The server finally came out to give us our menus (you have to wait until they're ready)... the servers seemed to demand attention when they came to the table. We had to stop our conversation to listen to their "schpeel" and look at weird plates of raw food wrapped in saran wrap before we could look at the menu ourselves. Side items are a la carte and if you get the baked potato they bring out a tray and say "would you like butter, sour cream, or bacon?" like you have a choice of one.. and of course I said, "all please." Then they insisted on dressing the spud for me which I'm on the fence about. The food was good, but the experience was not for me. I must say my steak was exactly what it should have been for a $37 slab of meat - quite tasty... but in general it's spendy, stuffy, and just a little bit annoying to sum it all up.
