the golden arches had gone modern with the same beef like burgers we all question when we eat them

This place was nothing special, like ordinary McDonalds. Service was average, although it was fast and efficient, there are times that my orders are delayed which is not good. The food was average, nothing special, taste good but I've tasted better. Fries was not consistent, because sometimes I get burnt fries, the patty also was not consistent. There are times that I get burn chicken, dont know what happen to that. 3 star woul be the most I can give.

This location has multiple issues. I've gone here at times due to its proximity in my commute, not due its being a particularly great place. It's on a portion of East Colfax with a LOT of vagrant traffic, a decent amount of which flows in and out of the restaurant. Patrons are occasionally panhandled in the store. I saw a guy assaulted, another one tried to steal the entire pan of cookies in the cookie display case, vagrants trying to order food they can't pay for and then causing a disturbance when it doesn't work, etc. This is not a place to bring a family to eat. I'm not even sure why they tore the old McD's that was on this property down and built this one; perhaps due to the 2-story structure, it was too difficult to monitor the upstairs dining area and in this part of town that means illicit activity will follow. The upscaled rebuild seemed to scare off the vagrants for a while and there was actually a more decent customer flow in there, but that soon flipped back to the same old East Colfax you-know-what. Especially in the winter time, expect the homeless to purchase a coffee and loiter in the seating. They have locked bathrooms where staff have to buzz you in due to such illicit activity, and I recall that back years ago, a dead heroin addict was found in one due to an overdose as people were going in there to shoot up. The staff are nearly all Mexican and few speak decent English. As such, check your order when you get it and use words like 'butter' instead of 'margarine.' When I see all foreign staff like this and so many unemployed Americans in the area, I have to suspect it's intentional and they don't want to pay Americans to work there. Go a few blocks down to the Wendy's at Colfax and Emerson and it's a mostly American staff. Coincidence? I don't think so. If you're going to visit here, I'd strongly suggest making it a to-go order and not loosely displaying your money. There was recently a murder next door in front of the 7-11 and there is always a lot of loitering people who are either panhandling or dealing drugs outside all along the block.

I wouldn't write a review of McDonald's, but this actually charged me .54 for a refill of coke... Had to put a .54 on my card...won't come here again

If I could give this place 0 stars I would... I asked the guy taking my order in the drive thru if he had my order right and he started cursing me out. When I pulled up to the window he threw up the blood gang sign at me and continued to curse and yell at me. Not only was the customer service obviously atrocious, but the employee blatantly threatened me! McDonald's is already absolute crap to begin with, but when their employees blatantly threaten me? Are you f*cking kidding me?! I'm never returning to this McDonald's, or any McDonald's for that matter, ever again. I would advise that everyone avoid this location.

  • Alicia J.

No McDonald's is going to get more than 3-stars from me, since no matter how "fresh" the meal is, i dont think that McDonald burgers taste even remotely like actual hamburgers. But, sometimes I need some fries and then maybe I'm suckered into a $1 Diet Coke and then maybe I've gotta order a burger off of the value menu... At any rate, the food I got was hot, so they get the highest rating I give this brand.

  • Tristen R.

Placing the order was easy and accurate. Issues are I was charged 28 cents for a large drink and receipt is illegible. First, the menu clearly states "ANY SIZE DRINK $1" on the lower left. So why am I getting charged 28 cents? Secondly, the receipt is extremely illegible. When I asked them to re-print the receipt, they stated the Drive through printer can't print a clearer one. I asked if he can use a different printer and he informed me no. I can see several other printers in there. Heck, there are at least 3 other printers for over the counter orders. Because the receipt is illegible, I was not reimbursed for my meal from my company. I do not recommend this McDonald's

  • Kathy D.

I agree with other users that would give this place 0 stars if possible. My food had hair in it and the workers are completely incompetent. I have been to many fast food restaurants with kind, smart people, but this place is absolutely the opposite. Stay away, or just go to Tom's diner next door. At least they're nice and their food is the same price, plus FAR better service.

Sometimes I just really need a Big Mac. These times are few and far between but when the hankering arises I'm a fan of this local McD's. It's not nearly as bad as one might expect for being on Colfax. Sure, you have to deal with the folks waiting outside for the 15 bus but that's just solid entertainment. I first started going here because this is the closest Red Box kiosk to my apartment. When you walk in there isn't that scary vibe that you might expect from an inner city restaurant. I fact, it's very relaxed. Typical McDonald's if you ask me. So far I've never had any problems with incorrect orders - how can you mess up a #1? Usually quick and courteous service. It is what it is. So there.

    (3)
  • Becca B.

The Service is horrible! They are rude at the counter And the window. They are so slow and then the food cold! I hate a Big Mac craving!

  • Cambri H.

This place is just about as welcoming as the orphanage in Oliver. It was a cutting-edge location with wifi and a fireplace, but now it's just cold and forlorn. Rotten lettuce in my wrap, returned and got a brand new wrap with...rotten lettuce. Locked bathrooms, no ketchup or napkins available without asking, couches removed, wifi gone. Oh and NO free refills. Not that I want to hang out at a McDonald's but I sure don't want to feel like lowly prisoner asking for unslimey vegetables and permission to pee. Not mention paying $7 for a meal and then being asked to pay a other $.54 for a refill. Just go, like, anywhere else.

Very disappointed, my boyfriend was craving a chocolate shake from McDonalds the other night after work which was around midnight. After driving to the Edgewater location on 20th and Sheridan because it said they were open on the website, only to find they were closed. So we drove to the location on Colfax across from Metro campus and were told their that the shake machine was not working, so we drove to the location further down on Colfax and were told they didn't have shakes available either. When we asked why, the guy sort of hemmed and hawed on his responses and finally said the machine was not working. At this point I can't help but wander why the shake machine is down at so many of there locations late at night(this isn't the first time we've been told this). Fortunately, GoodTimes was open just down the street so we went there for our late night food and our shakes.

  • Brian S.

If you are hungry enough to eat McDonalds "food" in the first place then you're already mentally prepared for unpalatable things. This spot has always been overrun with bums, drunk idiots and lots of shady characters just loitering from midnight to about 3:00 AM. If you can get in, get out and have your order halfway correct it's a sign from the gods that you need to be happy and get home.

  • Nick W.

Nice newer McDonalds with updated interior. On a small city lot so parking is very limited. Also located on Colfax near the Capitol Bldg so expect a colorful and well 'city' crowd and be aware of your surroundings and those around you.

    (3)
  • Donte W.

This my spot doe they close early I'm about they chess burger but they close around 11 so not that late night spot know what I'm saying me and the boys chill around the corner so I hit dis joint up a lot

  • Sean S.

Possibly one of the worst I've been too. Rude. Ignorant. and laugh at their customers correcting errors made against their order. Good luck trying to get good service. 3rd time I have come here and not only has it gotten worse, it amazes me they are still allowed to do business here.

    (2)
  • Amber M.

Food = Same as always. Staff = Courteous and efficient. Indoors = Surprisingly clean and modern. Nicer than your average McDonald's. Outdoors = Watch your step. Puddles of vomit are not uncommon.

  • Gaby Z.

Honestly, I was thinking of eating breakfast at Taco Bell for the first time. Taco Bell ruined my experience today so I decided to go back to my old love. Never disappoints. Sorry for trying to cheat on you, baby. Lol but in all actuality, the employees there were so nice and caring and got my order right! What more do I want? Keep it up guys.

This McDonalds always messes up your order. Get with it! Read me back my order when I pick up my food.

    (2)
  • Beau W.

It's literally next to my house. I mostly go for late night ice cream cones. The GM and Assistant Manager are obviously dedicated and hard working. It's the same McDonald's crappy food as anywhere. This place seems to be in good order considering the location. It must be hard to deal with so many raving lunatics. I've seen 16 year old girls show more poise in these situations than some grown men. Kudos to them. If you can stomach mcyd's, this one ain't so bad.

Seen worse. This place is pushing the envelope 2 stars above it's location. Worth nipping in for a 1/4 pounder just to avoid the bus queue outside for a little bit of sanity. Good commercial for leaving the car at home.

  • L C.

I cannot tolerate too much fast food but I hit this place up occasionally for breakfast and I have to say they have the fastest drive thru of any McDonalds I have ever been to. Great Job Morning team! If ever I am running late and I just can't go without a Bacon egg and cheese biscuit or Mcgriddle, I know if I go to this Mcdonalds I may only lose an additional two minutes.

    (5)
  • Joseph C.

Let's start by saying, this McD's is way better than the old one that was here before, at least in looks. Fast food, is the same no matter which location you are at. The crew here seems to be much better as well. I never have a problem with my order here, usually it's the people in the cars ahead of me in the drive thru who take too long to order, or change their order at the window or dont have enough money to pay. Really people?! One lady even drove by the first window not knowing or paying attention I guess, so I "paid if forward", and paid for her order myself, plus my own. I must have been in a really good mood or just damn hungry!

  • Lorem I.

This is a solid Mc Donald's, all you can hope for is that it is well run. It's run well.

    (4)
  • Andrew W.

It's McD's, but it's really nice. Flat screen, leather chairs, ambient music, super posh and nice interior. They have a great double lane drive thru. Large parking lot. The same amount of homeless. The food, you know the food. I like the new look, a lot.

  • Moni L.

THIS MCDONALD'S DOES NOT SKIMP ON YOUR ORDER OF FRIES. IT'S FILLED TO THE TOP AND OVERFLOWING. and I LOVE french fries. That's it.
