This is the first review after this McDonalds did a major remodel of their space. The renovation made a huge improvement, but then again the place was a filty dump to begin with. There are a lot less bums, transients and lowlifes there, but they are still there so you may experience some inappropriate language, behavior and smells. It's strange that there is an automatic door to the small patio area but not one at the entrance. Eventhough the place is new and cleaned up I am still terrified in going in there and touching anything. Don't even think about using the restroom here, as it is often used by these filthy lowlifes and you will probably catch something nasty. It's true that the fast food places along the 16th Street Mall are more ghetto than their counterparts, which is why I never go there and this is no exception. I don't think any fast food places on the Mall are appropriate for families -- then again I think fast food is not appropriate for families anyways.

I personally would avoid the one on 904 16th Street. Ill leave a review under that Mcdonalds as why i would avoid it. The Staff and the Decor at this Mc Donalds is way better than that one. The Tvs inside and the Music playing makes it really relaxful to enjoy your meal. Sure their are better fast foods on the 16th st mall but when you want a Big Mac Meal or Qtr Lbr w Cheese this is the one i would visit. The Automated Drink machine is pretty sweet as well. And the seats at this one are actually comfortable.

I think it may have been Creature Day at this McDonald's today. It was full of scary looking creatures. The food was gross as usual but CHEAP and FAST. I love the big wide straws here and the flatscreen TVs. It's always funny to see the business crowd carrying trays around with a look on their faces that clearly says "I don't have to eat here if I don't want to." It's also funny to see young, attractive, upper middle class women eating at McDonald's. They always have a mixed look of paranoia and shame on their faces - as though they are hoping nobody they know will catch them eating there. The homeless guy behind me in line asked me if they serve water; which I thought was great. I then heard him order "one free coffee and a water." I thought that was awesome too. Anyway, it's McDonald's, so obviously it only gets one star.

McDonald's is the epitome of American fast-food in all its greasy and fat-laden disgusting glory. Created in L.A. and spreading around the world like some sort of pox, McDonald's typifies the failure of the American market system. What McDonald's gives you is 'tasty' food at the price of your health, the health of the environment, and the well-fare of the animals used in the whole process. McDonald's is the Wal-Mart of the food industry...no I take that back: Wal-mart pales in comparison the Juggernaut of MickyD's. See the movie Super Size Me (5 out of 5) to really know what McDonalds represents and serves people. There is a reason that America is the fattest nation on the planet, and places like these are definitely part of the problem. And don't think I am just choosing McDonald's out of the pack to pick on: Burger King and Wendys and all the rest aren't much better. But then again, the fact that McDonald's specifically caters to children, who grow up on its horribly unhealthy concoctions makes this place border on the immoral. McDonald's: I'm hating it!

Do you like to loiter? I sure bet you do. Well this isn't the McDonald's for you then. There are signs posted on the walls that there is a 30 minute limit for customers. Dammit. I mean, I toil all week, slaving away, and all I ask for is three hours to eat a damn sausage and egg McGriddle. The facility is actually one of the nicer McDonalds I've been too, there's TV's, nice furniture, and I believe there's a homeless guy named Fargen who will give you a back rub in exchange for a Diet Coke or a 6 piece McNugget. Also, I'm fairly sure if you like a good cigarette with your Premium Southwest Salad you could probably get away with lighting it up right then and there. Fargen may ask for a puff - that's okay - go ahead and let him. If the manager comes out just point out one of seven other things going on around you that are more messed up than smoking a Camel and you should be fine. As for the food? Oh boy! You're in for something good. If you don't have diabetes yet, let loose, you earned it, buddy. If you do, I'm sorry to hear that, but go ahead, let loose, you're going to anyway.

When did McDonald's get so expensive for such a meager quantity of poor quality food? On this visit I paid more than $7 for a tiny fish sandwich and a insufficient quantity of lukewarm fries. The drink was the only component that was reasonably sized, probably because it's nothing but cheap sugar water. It's my fault, really. I hadn't been to McDonald's in a while, so I'd forgotten. If you need fast food, go to Good Time's instead. The food is both of better quality and a better value. I'm done with this crap.

I have worked in the building across the street for 7 years (formally the WTC). Each day more and more homeless and loiterers hang out at this McDonalds's. The entire south end of the mall has gone to hell and this McDonalds has contributed to that.

  • Food L.

Smells like a homeless shelter. The employees fight and curse at eachother while at register.. before walking in two black guys asked if i knew where to buy cocaine. Seriously. Smells so gross.

Its McDonald's I really don't expect much. Plus since it is downtown on the 16th Street Mall I know I am going to get a mix of business people and unwashed masses. Its OK, we can all get our grease just the same! This one is actually really nice inside (I mean relative to other McD's). It is sort of faux stone and faux wood with LCD TVs everywhere. It is pretty big and has lots of places to sit. It had quick service and the food was exactly what I would expect. It works when I need a sausage McMuffin or a Hot 'n'Spicy McChicken. I don't need fancy when I get my greasy goodness :)

As a few people mentioned, this McDonald's is much better than the other one (now closed) down 16th Street. First of all, it is weirdly clean for a McDonald's, even compared to a lot of the newer McDonalds which are also pretty clean. Secondly, the place probably has over a dozen high-definition televisions playing trippy nature videos set to ambient music. Apparently this is just what it's like all the time. I've never seen another McDonalds like it and I kind of enjoy the atmosphere here. As for the food, well, you know what you're getting. It's almost pointless to rate it. But this is probably my favorite McDonalds I've ever been in.

OMG! SO CROWDED! You'll wait a good while for your food. Although the food is fresh, after you've waited so long, (in a very small waiting area) - surrounded by a ton of homeless and smelly people.... you're not in the mood to eat. Definitely go to ANY other place on the 16th street mall.....

I have been going to this McDonalds for some time. Yes, since the one at 16th and Champa closed this location is now homeless central. I don't have a problem with that. I ride the bus with many of the regular customers. my problem is that the food has gotten terrible. I rarely order the breakfast hash browns, but the two times recently, the hash browns are soggy and terrible!! I like the sausage muffin, but the muffins now are dry and chewy. I have switched to the sausage biscuit, and this morning it was terrible. The biscuit was soggy and disgusting. McDonalds is my go to for a quick carry out breakfast, but I cannot keep going there for the bad food. The premade sandwiches at 7-Eleven are actually better! Dale P

Ugh, when the group of hoodlums outside barely parted enough to allow me to open the front door I knew I shouldn't have gone inside...but I was hungry. After passing through the cloud of smoke outside and entering this ghetto cave I was greeted with a "HEY!" by some thug. My name is not Hey, so I continued forward. The further I got from the thug, the louder his "HEYS" got until he decided to up the ante by shouting, "Hey you in the red shirt, I know you can hear me muthaf#$%@r!" Okay, Your Thugness, I confess, you have my attention now. "What?" I asked him, to which he replied, "You got fifty cents?" I asked him if he really thought I would give him money after the way he addressed me, I then let loose with some finer language. He let me know what a (insert gay slur here) I was and that was the end of it. The reall tragedy here is that McDonalds allows these lowlifes to spend their days in here, harassing their customers. I don't get it At least my spicy chicken was warm. Yeah I guess I learned my lesson, 16th street is not for me.

I, like alot of us have grown up on McDonalds as a kid, so from time to time I have to revisit this part of my childhood, sometimes more than I care to admit. This particular location on 16th street is much better than the other one further down the street now that it's been remodeled. It doesnt look like your typical McD's inside with flat screen TVs that only display serene settings to accompanying music and the seating has gotten an upgrade as well. Nonetheless the food is still the same as it was when I was a kid and that's not necessarily a bad thing. 3.5 for the remodeling and for some of the pleasant flashbacks of my childhood so long ago.

Scary... that is all I have to same about that... Then again the rant against McDonalds is pathetic, I love people that rant against the machine... yet are clearly apart of the machine

Whoa, it's like I just walked in on Tyler Durden from Fight Club while he was in the middle of a rant about what's wrong with America. Chill out, have some fries. They're good. I like how the best of Westword rated McDonalds fries the best year after year. They are probably the best. You know, everything else may suck about the place, but still. Kids love it. And yeah, don't let them eat too much of it or you may be rolling them to school.

This location is a distinct anomaly for McDonalds, but once you get past the swankified atmosphere (plasma TV's, a fireplace) you realize that this is just as ghetto as the second location further down the mall. Last time I went there for lunch, there was a line to the back of the store. The place seemed to be teetering on the edge of anarchy. The management was completely incompetent and overwhelmed as well as ill-prepared. They ran out of Coca Cola, how does a McDonald's run out of Coke at noon? I ordered an ice tea instead, which the illiterate cashier promised me was unsweetened. She lied. I hate sweet tea, I couldn't drink it. I had to repeat my order to her four times, she struggled to get it close to right. After finding a table, some urine-reeking bum approached me offering his "poetry" for a donation. Uh, no. The bathrooms are not recommended, for obvious reasons. At least at the other location you need to get a token from the front to use them. I encountered some methed out tweaker trying to shower in the bathroom sink. The food is awful and you will regret eating it in about twenty minutes. Plus the front and side of the store are usually covered with panhandlers and wanna-be gangstas trying to look tough. No matter how brightly you shine up a turd, it's still a turd.

I'm in love with the Sausage McMuffin. I am not ashamed to admit it.
