Food was very solid. The happy hour was better than average. The service on the other hand was terrible. The restaurant wasn't busy at all and our waitress still only managed to come take our order and then bring us a check at the end. We had to get our own chips and salsa. Our drinks never were refilled. And we sat for 15 minutes waiting for her to return to bring us our check.

Food was a little above average. Wait staff was a little slow and the margaritas were very watered down. Might give them another shot to prove me wrong

Traveling solo for work and the people at the Hampton Inn recommended the place and gave me a $5 off coupon. Food was good. Portions were giant. I got the poco poco salad and coup combo. Tortilla soup (broth, chicken, tomato, cheese, and fried tortilla strips) was a little bland for my CA taste buds. Salad was giant. Glad they put dressing on the side without me asking as it was not to my liking (bland pink something) some of the red cabbage and carrot pieces were too big.

The food was good the wait staff was great the fried ice cream with also amazing haven't been here in a very long time but will come back

When friends suggested we come here for lunch, I forgot that we used to come here when I was much younger. I pulled up outside and it took me back. We had a big comfy booth which was great and the chips and salsa were plentiful and delicious. The salsa tasted a bit like Pace but the chips were literally half a corn tortilla each, hot and fresh. For the main, I ordered chili rellenos. They were not the best that I have ever had but hit the spot. They could have used more green chili sauce on the top. The sopapillas we ended with were easily the worst I have ever had. They were strangely doughy and far too thick to be enjoyable. I actually didn't even eat half of mine. Our server was really lovely though and very prompt with everything. I would totally come back but don't expect authentic Mexican food.

First time visit for a drink and a lite dinner. The Top Shelf Perfection Margarita was well made and good value. I skipped the house margaritas on special...which most people were drinking. Chicken Tortilla Soup was tasty with rich ingredients including Avocado chunks. One of the better ones as other reviewers have also noted. The Poco Chimichangas Appetizer was just a calorie-laden disappointment. Table needed to be re-cleaned and service over the course of an hour was inattentive on a Friday nite. No excuse, but I was single and sometimes servers don't pay any attention. Online menu, which I checked out ahead of time, is incomplete.

I've been coming to this restaurant for years, for a few reasons. 1. The chicken tortilla soup is killer 2. The pollo fundido is amazing 3. The sopapillas are outstanding. I've tried a lot of things on the menu and am truly not impressed by the food, it's a lot of chain like food. But the things I've listed above are all really good. The chicken tortilla soup is some of the best in my opinion, the chicken is tender and succulent. The pollo fundido is fantastic because it's sort of like a chimichanga but it is topped with cream cheese and melted cheese on top of that! The sopapillas are good because of the cream cheese spread they come with, without this it would just be a plain sopapillas. Overall it's nothing out of this world but definitely something to come check out if you're in the area.

Visited this place a couple of times for dinner while staying at DTC. Nice atmosphere, friendly service and pretty good food. Highly recommend it.

Came here for happy hour. Had quick service and everything I ordered came out in less than 15 minutes ( may be because I was one of the select few dining there at the moment). I read a review that for their happy hour 2 for 1 they give you both drinks at the same time. I am happy to inform that they now wait until you are done with the first before they give you the second. I also had the poco chimichangas, mini tacos, and Mexican pizza which did not not disappoint I would recommend.

  • David G.

Garcia''s was a disappointment. I ordered the Seafood Fundido, which was listed as a House Specialty. It tasted like a warmed-up frozen burrito with a slice of processed cheese melted on top. The service was good. The waitress brought me extra salsa when she noticed I had run out.

    (2)
  • Chris V.

Service was slow even though the restaurant wasn't busy. The chimichanga was good but the tamales were reheated and they didn't know how to properly warm up the tortillas so they didn't break when you are eating them. Also when the tortillas break that is a sign that they are old. Quality of the food was poor. I would not recommend the place. There are much better quality and true Mexican restaurants I would rather spend my money with.

Great decor, service, food, and margaritas. We love having their nachos as appetizer, and then some fajitas or a burrito for dinner. I had a crispy relleno the last time I went, and I can seriously say it's the BEST relleno I've ever had. It was spicy and fresh! Love love love it at gracias. I've also come with large parties and even just my family and the service is always just as good. Come here and bring everyone you know. You'll love it.

Wonderful family restaurant. Good Mexican-AMERICAN food. Awesome Service. Large portions. Delicious chips. Decent salsa. Great place to visit with friends over a meal. We never feel rushed. Good for birthdays or special occasions with large groups. I think it should be called, "Garcia's Mexican-American Restaurant."

  • Kevin S.

The service was fast and friendly, they have light and dark Dos XX, and the decor pleasant, so what's not to like? The chips and salsa are free and the beer is cold. I had a spicy green chile burrito with rice and beens from the lunch menu and was fine. A-OK indeed.

Joined a friend for her birthday party here over the weekend. I'm not a huge fan of Mexican food to begin with and found Garcia's pretty much in line with The Rio Grande, but with more whimsical and fun decor (giant ceramic parrots, sombreros on the wall, etc.) Kitschy, but cute. I had a strawberry margarita (does NOT compare to the RIo's margs) and the Tilapia Portico (?) It was alright . . . My husband had something fried and covered in cheese - ah, yes FUNdidos - that looked like a heart attack on a plate. I was most pleased that the kitchen was able to create a soy-free (and something else free) dish for another guest. She was super happy and it's always nice to see the kitchen ensure a customer's dietary needs are met. Not sure we'll be back unless someone insists we go.

  • Megan N.

A pretty good mexican place in the tech center. Not the most authetic and a bit of a chain-like feel. But can't go wrong for a sit down and some mexican food. The margs a def yes! They also serve chips and salsa when you sit down. Always nice. I think i got a burrito- pretty good, but not amazing. I wonder if they have a sweet happy hour?? that would make it work for me. Some after work drinks : )

I usually stop in here when I'm around the DTC for work. Garcia's has been around for a long time and they are always tasty and consistent. Ask for a grilled jalapeno on the side, mmmm. Good chips and salsa. Good fajitas. Good variety of dishes. Definitely recommend.

  • Sarah B.

I love this place. I come about once a week. I love the Chimichanga's! Delicious!! My only complaint is that they could use more cheese... Other than that, I think they are the best Mexican around.

  • Steve W.

If I could give a 3.5 stars - I would. It was better than 'OK' but I won't go out of my way to visit. Disclaimer: This was a company lunch and it was free (boss paid). Based on this, I may have enjoyed it more because free usually makes food better. In the end I walked away satisfied. However, being from Ca, it is hard to find good Mexican food in Denver. I honestly think the skillets are too new. IMO, a weathered skillet/grill makes for a better taste. Worth the price but not a favorite.

I have been yelping for a couple of months - this is my first "one" star rating, so here it goes. Basically I would describe this place as a stereotypical suburbs Mexican joint that could not deliver on the basic premise. Our waitress would have likely had a tough time in Arizona given the new profiling laws - communication was a challenge to say the least. This was highlighted when the question was asked on how was the fish prepared that was used in the fish taco's. This resulted in the manager coming to the table to answer the question, unfortunately that did not help much either. The chips used by Garcia are certainly something different in terms of what you typically get at a Mexican joint. That said they were different in a not so good way in that they were very bland with almost a stale texture. Maybe they were supposed to be healthy and prepared with some sort of good for you oils, if so I will take the heartache risk. Of the four dishes we ordered, no one seemed to sit up and take notice. I will focus on one other telling item. Served with the fish tacos was a ice cream cone sized scoop of white rice. Come on. I thought Mexican food should come with rice that has some sort of flair to it. Bottom line - if you are in the I25 south corridor it seems to be Mexican food waste land as we have yet to experience a place that we can go over 3 stars so in that regard Garcias should not feel too bad. Need a good taste of chow from south of the border, head to South Federal!

I always book Corporate Seminars here - the BEST price in town for what you get. They have a large room in the back that is removed from the restaurant and works great. Full day seminars were half the price of any hotel and the food is going to be a lot better. I dig their seafood-cheese platters - always terrible for you but always delicious.

I had a coupon for this restaurant and I had to give it a try. I use to go here but not for a long time. I got carried away with the chips and salsa which were ok. I had the Lite quesidilla with chicken and spinach(where was the spinach?) and my son had a combo. He was ok with his meal but mine was just so so. No real taste even when I put salsa on the quesidillas. I use to love Mexican food but I think it is down there with Chinese for me. That means only if necessary.

    (2)
  • Jackson M.

Barfy-est margarita I have had in ages. I even had them switch me to a raspberry marg that tasted exactly the same - like the ice was from water in mexico and the tequila had a penny in it. The chips and salsa are homemade but "serve yourself" at a trough where I saw people getting their chips with their bare hands (double barf). I did not stay for the food because I knew the odds were against me.

  • Emily U.

Salsa is bland- bad proportions in ingredient sizes as well. No matter what plate I've tried here there is something on it that is awful. The rest is mediocre. Really needs a menu over-haul. Very forgettable. Never very busy on the weekends.

Great authentic atmosphere, amazing queso, never been disappointed here!

If you're going to Garcia's, it's best to know what to get. There is no better plate of fajitas I've encountered in Denver. They come out sizzling and stay sizzling until your onions are perfectly carmelized. They also have a few chef's specialties I particularly like. The Monterrey Chicken is wonderful, and the Stuffed Tampico chicken is good as well. If you love all things deep fried, try the Fundito Platter...tasty, unique to Garcia's and bad for you. As far as standard fare like tacos, chimis, enchiladas...you get what you order. I do recommend trying the sour cream enchiladas. The atmosphere and service are great, but the Margaritas are poor (as a margarita lover). Remember 3 things - Fajitas, Monterrey and Tampico Stuffed. You'll be pleased.

Embarrased that I came here, but for a family party of seven it seemed safe. 1 hour and sixteen minutes later and simple dinners are nowhere to seen. HORRIBLE SERVICE. Never again.

Come here often for lunch, it's close to the office. Never crowded at lunch, quick, quiet, spend about as much as I would at Subway.

I tend to concur with the rest of the reviews here. My first trip to Garcia's resulted in "ok" food in a fun atmosphere. I had the Lite Chicken and Spinach Quesadilla, which was actually much better than expected. It was made with low fat cheese and light tortillas. On the side it had beans (not refried) and mixed grilled veggies. It really was pretty darn healthy for a Mexican place--which is often a rare find. Their salsa is pretty bland, lacking kick. My friends had the Pollo Fundito, which was highlighted on the menu and sounded so good. But they were both disappointed with the dish as it was lacking flavor. Yes it was chicken wrapped in a tortilla--deep fried--and covered with cheese (which would make you think it should have quite a bit of flavor), but it didn't have any spices or heat at all. I don't know if I'll be back. Little Anita's has more flavor and Los Dos Patrillos has better salsa and more options.

I regularly order a bacon breakfast burrito from Garcia's and in the past it has been mediocre at best. It is normally dry, and the bacon is overdone to the point that its damn near petrified. Not exactly breakfast for champions, nonetheless it fills me up till lunch time. However, I gave it another shot with the encouragement of a co-worker as we were starvin' marvins and I was suffering from lack of nutrition to function as on office drone. To my surprise the eggs were moist, cheesy, and the bacon was awesome. And the salsa dip was just enough to top it off. It was scrumptious! If they continue this trend, I would order it more than a few times a month to fuel my brain for the rest of the day in the office! I have never eaten their lunches or dinners, but I may in the near future if this burrito is any indication of the updated quality they provide.

OK so a friend and myself were looking for some good mexican food and we heard of this place called Garcia's looked it up on line and decided we would give it a shot. As soon as we walked in I noticed that it smelled delicious! We were greeted by a nice young lady who promptly seated us. We ordered drinks and appetizers and were given chips and salsa. The chips were warm and the salsa was good but not spicy so I asked if they had any spicier salsa and they brought it out to us, much better, So as I do whenever I go to mexican restaurant I have never been to before I ordered the chile verde. As soon as it was served I was already disappointed. I'm pretty sure the portion was meant for a small child we both noticed that it was quit small. As for the taste wellll there was none. It was pretty bland. They put jalapenos and sour cream on the side which I had never seen done before, now I know why they did iy here. Truly disappointing!! My friend had the enchiladas which he liked and they did look good and were portion correct. So I ordered a fish taco after and I am glad I did because it was delicious! So IF I ever come here again it will not be for the chile verde. The service was OK, oh the cheese crisp was also pretty good. Over all it was ok obviously except for the chile verde.

I went here based on Sho's review and I was impressed. The aesthetics were nice and service was excellent. The food was also good, but it lacked one critical factor - spice! My favorite Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles was similar in that way, but at least I could dump some awesome spicy salsa on everything. At Garcia's, the salsa is just tomatoes. Luckily, they had Cholula, which I put on everything on my Olivia's Sampler platter. Everything on my plate was good, except for the hard shell tacos. Ground beef, Taco-bell style? Make it more authentic, please. On the other hand, the Pollo Fundido was great. The sopapilla, a dessert I had for the first time (it's not really popular in Mexico), was also tasty. I had all that food at a decent price, too. So I'll probably go back. It's good overall, but it doesn't top my list.

One of the first mexican restaurant experiences I've had in Denver, I was pretty impressed by Garcia's. Fast, friendly service and the food is way better than the crap I was used to in Florida. If you ever go to Orlando, stay FAR FAR away from International Drive. But I digress; Garcia's in the DTC is an interesting multileveled restaurant with a nice atmosphere and quality food. The enchiladas are muy bueno and the food products in Colorado shine through in the food here. You wouldn't believe the horrible crap the force feed us in Florida. Ok Michael, calm down, you're in a better place....

    (4)
  • AJ A.

I think the food is great, service is good. Didn't have to wait to long either. I think the problem is the price but its a trade off for the atmosphere!

  • Adam S.

So, I'm still looking for the perfect Mexican food restaurant in the Denver area and haven't found it (I know it's out there!). That should include good food and good atmosphere. Until then, this is in the top 2 for me. It has been there for years and I think the experience serves them well.

  • Ashley B.

I am from Texas and I know good Mexican food! We moved to Colorado 2 years ago and have been to TONS of Mexican restaurants and we have not been pleased. We left Garcia's restaurant full and with a big smile on our face! Great service and great food! YOU WILL BE HAPPY LEAVING THIS PLACE!

  • Cass D.

I have to give this place three stars which is rather a disappointment because I grew up eating at Garcia's in Arizona and they totally blow this place out of the water. The rice, was done right, the chips, were done right. The salsa leaves a little to be desired (it isn't very spicy or flavorful although the consistency is correct) and the beans are well... you couldn't make a sandcastle out of them and they don't run off the plate so they get an A for consistency and a C for flavor. I do think it's great that they have a couple of lite options on the menu; I wish more places would follow their lead especially when it comes to Mexican. I had the Lite Chicken Flautas, my boyfriend had the Pork Tacos and my dad had a Grande Burrito. My food was actually very good for being lite, even the lite sour cream. My only complaint is that I didn't realize my order came with tomatillo salsa, which I've never been a big fan so I would have asked to nix that had I known. All and all I say for the nice festive atmosphere, I'd be back to this place if I were in the area again; though I certainly wouldn't go out to my way to trek there. The wait service was excellent, which is why I struggle with only giving three stars.

Not bad! I do like their chicken tortilla soup and the chicken sandwich with green chile. Anything with roasted mild green chile is awesome! Good food at a reasonable price - worth trying people.

Great mexican food in a great environment. The building this restaurant is in is really neat. Its so big even when it is packed it still doesn't feel too crowded. They have a nice happy hour with finger food in the bar area as well.

The Happy Hour prices are great. I ordered a Blue Moon and it didn't taste that great. The second beer was really dirty tasting. Friendly service though! But quality of what I'm drinking is important.

  • Tanya M.

We waited for quite a while to order so lost a star in my book -looked like they were short staffed- but then they totally redeemed themselves with fantastic dishes. We had Tampico Stuffed Chicken, Chimichangas, Pollo Fundido, Grande Nachos, and even the kids menu queso with chicken was good.

  • Katie N.

This place is pretty damn good! The food is awesome and the staff is very friendly. Indoor decor is pretty neat too. Never had any problems with my orders whether it was dining in or take out, they always appreciate your business!

  • Josh K.

Gross... Thats my five letter word for the day. Oh and a good four letter word = slow. The food here, I had the southwest enchiladas, and my wife had the Carnitas tacos, were so awful we did not eat them and sent them back. We did not reorder. My enchiladas tasted like paste, no flavor and the texture was like glue. My wifes "tacos" were rolled like a burrito and greasy to the point she had to dab them on a napkin to get some of the grease off. The salsa was tasteless, as was the Charro salsa as well. The service was slow and forced it seemed. Upsell, Upsell Upsell. Ill never go back, this was as awful as it gets.

  • Vickie R.

Meeting friends for dinner, 6 of us. Service was outstanding, food was mediocre. I love love love retried beans, was disappointed they were boring, zero flavor . Also had the margarita grilled chicken burrito, chunky chopped chicken looked like it had come out of a bag, only flavor was in the lots a lots of onion, it said filled with vegetables all I had was that ton of onion. My friends love this place, so I'm sure I'll come back but will try something else. Margaritas were decent.

    (3)
  • Ashley M.

I'll definately go to this place again. The decor rivals casa bonita but wayyy cleaner and not a zoo full of kids. The staff were friendly and very attentative to diners. Try the chicken tortilla soup and the quesdilla. Better than most mexican restaurants in Denver.

    (4)
  • Mark S.

I've eaten here many times over the years. Service is better than average, but the food is nothing special. The restaurant has a great location but is not representative of the creative and fine Mexican food that can be found in Denver.

    (3)
  • Daniel M.

This is one of the best Mexican places in Denver. The quality has always been high and they have really good salsa. I always choose this place when I want Mexican food. Their fajitas are great with low fat meat and the peppers and onions are always fresh. I wouldn't hesitate to take anyone here.

I love this place! The location is perfect for those of us who live in the various apartments in the heart of dtc. I love their Patron margs, they are HUGE, delicious, strong, and like $8.50. The salsa isn't really good but the entrees are amazing. I would recommend any of the enchiladas, fajitas, or the nachos.

    (5)
  • Dana B.

The food was decent and the price was ok, but we came as a group and it literally took an hour for them to give us our checks! It totally took away my positive experience to wait that long for a check! I probably will never go back!

Anything that involves bottomless chips & salsa, sombreros and tequila is totally my cup of tea. Why do you think I throw a fiesta each year? After sitting through the process of buying a car [that wasn't even mine!!], my tummy was grumbling and my body was in need of a margarita. Garcia's just so happens to be around the corner from my house and is tucked away behind a few other restaurants. It wasn't until recently that I discovered this gem. FOOD & DRINKSmassive portions, unique and spicy flavors, great salsa, very filling with lots leftover! as for the drinks.... mmmmm! I had a marcornoita, basically a margarita with a carona sticking out the top, making for the best drink possible. And for only $5....i mean really. SERVICE: Very prompt, helpful and nice! Our server was attentive yet not annoying, and provided us with good conversation and entertainment. PRICES: A little steep, but you really get what you pay for here :) ATMOSPHERE: Relaxing, friendly, and a slice of paradise! 4 reasons for a 4 stars!

This is another regular lunch stop for me and my coworkers. The place is huge so you almost always get seated immediately. 9 out of 10 times the service is really good and quick to. The food is nothing to really brag about, but it is good. We really enjoy ordering from their lunch special menu. I am a huge fan of the tortilla soup and their margaritas are fantastic.

  • Ryan H.

This place was not very good. In fact it was pretty far from Mexican food. It was Mexican style but not Mexican food. The cheese they use is terrible. Not your traditional Mexican type cheeses. Pretty sure it was just cheddar cheese. The two ladies that kept coming to our table were clueless as well. We asked for Queso for our chips and they looked at us like we had no idea what we were talking about. Once they finally figured out what we wanted, they brought us some sort of white cheese. Sure wasn't queso blanco/fresco. Lastly I ordered a water. I got a water and that was it, no refill. I didn't ask but still I was out of water before we got our food. Wont be going back to this place. I think an American 10 year old could put together a more traditional Mexican dish.

Love Garcia's. We have been coming here for years! Try the Tampico, steak or chicken, it is seriously delicious! Also if you come for happy hour during the week and sit at the bar the food is super cheap and they have a chips and salsa and refried beans bar. Service is pretty standard, never had bad service here.

  • Hanh P.

I am no expert on Mexican food... But the nice thing about this place is the decor, very spacious... Immediate weekday seating (hard to find in DTC), and CHIPS & SALSA. I ordered enchiladas and it was good. The girls I went with ordered the light floatas and hated it. Even though I'm not in love... I know I will be back for a quick lunch.

  • Amy K.

Good service with pretty good food. My coworker enjoyed his steak, and my cubed steak in a mole-type sauce had decent flavor. The flour tortillas were so tasty, but I'm not sure if that's cuz I was starving. This place is really convenient if you're staying in the Tech Center area hotels.

Several years ago, my husband and I were violently ill after eating their Chicken Tortilla Soup - each of us ate it on two separate occasions. The manager we spoke with regarding this (we only called to alert them, not to get anything from them) was just rude. He asked me how long after we ate did we get ill, I replied a few hours, to which he stated was not because of their food because it was too soon. This is a complete misnomer that too many people buy into. Regardless, we decided to try the place again. We ordered anything BUT chicken plates. I got the Steak Fajitas - which were just blah. The steak was dry and the flavor was off. I remained hopeful for the sopapillas (and perhaps this is due to preference ONLY), but they were too thick for my liking. The icing for them was .....gross. The chips and salsa were amazing though. So, there's that.

Went out here with some coworkers. It's not great, but it's certainly authentic. The food comes pretty quick, and the service is friendly (although, sometimes I found there was a bit of a language barrier). The prices are reasonable, the food is hot, and there's plenty of space. Not my first choice in the DTC, but not my last either.

We just had dinner at Garcias restaurant we looked at the reviews and thought it would be a good place to go, my wife ordered a vegetarian taco salad and I had the chili Rellanos. When I ordered the waitress asked me if I wanted them soft or crispy I had never even heard of that before coming from California. My first bite into them was a dough cheese flavor, absolutely horrible, The waitress had no personality and she messed up my drink also they forgot to put the Southwestern sauce on my wife's taco salad. I'll skip this place next time and I'm in town. I guess were spoiled coming from California

My girls and I needed a girls' night and Garcia's was a good pick for us. It's a cute place, full of kitschy south of the border decor, complete with a salsa bar. We sat at the bar and enjoyed some pretty good margaritas and a great quesadilla. Service was great and the price was right. I loved the chips and salsa bar, it was great to pick your own chips and salsa and not to have to wait for it like other places. Overall, it was a fun place to grab drinks and just hang out. Food wasn't over the top awesome but after a few margaritas everything was great!

Hands down the best tortilla soup I have ever had the pleasure of eating. When I worked in the DTC area I ate here probably once a week. I miss eating here, but it certainly inspired me to work on my tortilla soup. The Serves here is always friendly and polite. My favorite place to sit was next to the bar in one of the small booths. The dinning is comfortable too, but I usually just came in quick so I noticed the service was a little faster there. I have had a bunch of things off there lunch menu and I enjoyed everything I tried, but the tortilla soup is the best I have ever had.

This restaurant was so accommodating for our Christmas party in early December. The staff was very attentive and friendly. I always received a reply email when I had questions or had to change up the reservation a bit. The food was good. Chips, salsa, and beak dip were great! Yum! The food portion was amazing for the prices. The margaritas we're very tasty as well. Hoping to book our next Christmas party here. Thanks again Garcia's! '

I don't know why, but for some reason I can be a chicken tortilla soup snob. It's just that, I like my chicken tortilla soup to be more than, well, plain chicken soup with some tortillas for show. Thanks to Erin H.'s recommendation, I decided to give Garcia's chicken tortilla soup a shot. To my delight, they do it right. The broth has got nice Mexican flavoring, and the seasoning on the chicken was perfect. And to top it off, they pack the chicken, tortilla chips, cheese, and pico separately so that it's as fresh as possible when you're ordering to-go. For $5, it was the perfect choice on a cold winter afternoon. The staff was also incredibly friendly. I'll have to stop in sometime for a sit-down meal, but in the meantime their chicken tortilla soup to-go is a winner.

OMG! What a nice surprise! We started with great Patron marg in a huge glass and a generously poured tequila shot for my hubby. Our food was off the charts with the carnitas street tacos and the sour cream chicken enchiladas! The service was a tad slow but our waiter was apologetic so I kept the five stars. Our bill was under $50.00 which is hard to do anywhere in Greenwood Village. Yes, it is a little dated with the interior but I recommend it highly to give it a shot if you haven't been here in a while.

Garcia's is a great spot in the heart of DTC. I'm a huge fan of their happy hour. Free chips, bean dip, and salsa. Food is pretty good but happy hour is the move. BOGO beers brah!!

This place is a great hidden gem in DTC. I have seen this many times, but this was my first time in there. Walking in, the decor was fun and festive and the layout really controlled the volume of the room. This made it very warm, confortable and inviting. The music was also at a perfect level where it filled the room and was not overbearing. Next, the service... from the time we walked in to our walk out, the staff was very attentive, friendly and very informative when it came to questions about the food. Our server was Rolando and he was great. Lastly, the food was definitely delicious, reasonably priced and good portions. It had good flavor and was obviously freshly made. I had a grilled fish taco with a yummy mango salsa and a carnitas street taco with a side of avocado. The pork was moist and not greasy at all and the guac was very fresh. The fish was flaky and moist and filled me up. The refried beans were not lardy and tasted like a fresh pot of beans from my youth. The rice was fluffy too. My bf had 2 beef tacos. Sometimes beef tacos are greasy and this was not. What a nice change! Everything here was yummy and I will definitely come back... oh, and the margarita in the shaker... mmmm!

Garcia's is our favorite gem in the DTC. It's as good as (if not better than) any Mexican food I've ever had and by the time you factor in the decor, drink specials (2 for 1 margaritas), excellent service, and delicious food, we'd go there everyday if we could. Things I'd recommend: Fish tacos, chimichangas, guacamole, and ANY of the desserts. They also offer takeout which is ready quickly, well-packaged, and still hot by the time we get it home. We're moving much further south come July, and even though we'll pass dozens of Mexican restaurants along the way, we're still planning on making the drive to Garcia's.

Love this place! I go out of my way when I need my chips and salsa fix! The margaritas are great and go well with the sampler plates I usually get. My favorite are the pollo funditos. I don't know if they are a Garcia's original and I have ordered similar items at other Mexican restaurants but these can't be replicated in my book! We had my daughter's wedding rehearsal dinner here a while back and everything went smoothly and at a very good price.

Never been disappointed at this place. Very friendly staff. Food is great. Must try their Grilled Margarita Chicken Burrito with Jalapeño Cream Cheese, with the mild green chili sauce. Only wish they served flan.

This is great traditional Mexican. We have been here twice, and each time, a manager (owner?) has come to our table to ask how our food and service has been. There is a gluten-free menu which makes our dining experience that much easier. On our last visit, we were treated to some amazing fried ice cream, better than at any other restaurant we've tried.

All the reasons I didn't eat mexican food in Florida. Bland with poor ingredients. Retried beans are probably out of a can, shredded beef suspect. Ate here a couple times and both with the same opinion, won't be back

I can sum it all up in one word... Average. It was a very very slow Tuesday night. Very few customers at 8pm. Service was ok. Not great not bad. I ordered the 3 enchiladas 1 of each kind. The chicken was the best but again they were all average. Overall just an average experience at a typical mexican restaurant. I have had better and worse.

Thought the food here was pretty bland. The enchilada tasted like it came from a TV Dinner. I wouldn't visit again.

The service here is wonderful! An added bonus for having Dr. Pepper on tap! Minus one star for flavorless beans and rice. The beans taste like Poi (for anyone who has had this Hawaiian dish) and the rice... is just that, rice. Aside from that, the enchiladas and fish tacos we had were amazing. Also, don't forget the Espinaca con queso (Spinach with cheese) as it comes out boiling and has a nice kick to it. So far, this is my favorite Mexican place although I've heard from many coworkers that there are some really good ones towards downtown. Since this is close to home, it gets my commendation for best in area. We shall see that sticks as I search around for more places!

OK, this one is a little tough for me. On the one hand, the service was stellar! On the other, the food was really not worth it. I came in for lunch because I had a discount card. The hostess was extremely friendly, and I asked to sit at the bar. It was lunchtime on a Sunday, I think I was the only person there. The manager took care of me and offered a great experience. Chips and salsa were brought out instantly, I ordered a house margarita and a shredded beef burrito. The margarita was ok, nothing out of this world, nothing unexpected for a house mix. The salsa was bland tomato sauce. The burrito was a complete waste of time. The meat was so flavorless, I actually kept checking to see if it was stuffed with re-fried beans. It wasn't, that's just how it tasted. Bummer. When I requested green chili atop it rather than red sauce, I was given a choice of regular or spicy. Well, you all know from my reviews that I have a serious love of heat, and if this was spicy, I shudder to think what the mild would be. Ah well. Seriously, the service I got was 5 stars, but the food was 1. I might end up coming back for something different due to it's proximity and my discount card.

Used to come here for lunch quite often years ago when my office was closer. Revisited again recently for dinner and was not disappointed. The queso was pleasing as were the enchiladas. The main reason to come here though (at least for me) is the chicken tortilla soup. There's something about it that hits the spot. I would also recommend the blackberry citrus margarita - yum! The only disappointing thing of the night was the chocolate mini empanadas (?) - the chocolate tortillas were not very chocolate-y and only one of the four had substantial filling.

It's hard enough getting friends down to my area of town. I thought maybe Garcia's would have something to offer. I had the tampico chicken, which was basically cream cheese with a weird cheese sauce on top of it, flavorless rice and beans from a can. My BEST FRIEND AJ, who I just met, ordered chicken fajitas. Everyone else's fajitas came out sizzling except for his - so it looked like they had been on the back burner for a while. My friend Steve ordered the chimichanga which was ok I guess but I think he was just hungry and my brosef ordered some kind of chicken with some avocado in it. AJ and I also had the chicken tortilla soup, which was basically broth with some tortilla pieces thrown in. I'll never be back to this place - next time I'll just get a Volcano taco from Taco Bell, which are delicious.

I am embarrassed that i had a few drinks, ate one of their cheese stuffed chicken platters (they seem to stuff many of their entrees with cheese), and came back to SF raving to my colleagues how amazing this place was. I returned a few times sober, and well... it's Mexican food. It's tough for a Mexican place to really stand out for me-- The stuffing of cheese into their meats is a plus though (might give me night sweats while digesting), and for that Garcia's, i thank you.

I've always loved Garcias, and reading these reviews won't dissuade me from going back a lot.. The food is so delicious, very good fajitas.. I love that they are vegetarian conscious and offer so many options for non meatheads like me.. They have a roaring buffeted happy hour too.. The ambiance is beautiful and reminiscent of old Mexico city decor.. Guadalajara or the like.

Delicious! I started going to Garcia's when I worked in the DTC. I usually test out new Mexican Restaurants by their salsa - Garcia's is #1 in my book. They added green chilies in their salsa to enhance the flavor. Their food and service are both excellent and the prices reasonable. I no longer work in the DTC but travel occasionally just to eat at Garcia's.

Decent, though unspectacular Mexican food for the suburban palate. Makes me feel like I'm back in sprawling Phoenix (where the place originated). Phoenicians don't have much to choose from when it comes to good Mexican food (the good stuff is down in Tucson)--Neither do Greenwood Villagers. This is the kind of Mexican food you'd expect to find within walking distance of a Red Lobster, Olive Garden, or TGI Fridays. So yes, this is the absolute finest, most authentic Mexican restaurant you'll find on the corner of Syracuse and Belleview. And anywhere else it would be OK... but likely just OK.

This place has a nice decor, and the wait staff was quite attentive. But that is where the good attributes of Garcia's stops. The food lacks flavor, and it appears that they tried to fix the problem by adding cheese. I had the Original Fundido - it was quite bland. My wife had the tilapia, which she needed to add the salsa to. Even the chips needed some salt. Like I said, this place just isn't that good.

This is close to a one hour drive from where I live, but it is totally worth it. My husband and I have been going here for years and never get tired of it. The customer service is one of the best we've experienced and it is always that way - friendly and quick to serve. The food is delicious. It's not unique but it is good. We always get the poco chimichangas; they come with a heaping helping of jalapeno cream cheese. The tortilla soup never disappoints and there are so many other delicious items on the menu that I try something different nearly every time I go - and it's always wonderful. This place is also pretty spacious. We've had several huge family dinners there and are always seated comfortably. It's a great place, friendly atmosphere and great tasting food.

Garcia's was a meh experience for me. The interior is decked out to look rustic and homey, but the sheer size of the place belies this attempt at southwestern charm. I get the feeling that this location could host three or four large-sized corporate lunches or happy hour parties, still have room for all the walk-in traffic and not even break a sweat. The multi leveled layout does work well for what it is and I commend the staff for covering the basics like clean silverware, clean tables and a prompt greeting which had us sat almost immediately upon arrival. From here it gets a bit strange. The server was on the case, but when we asked for a few more minutes to peruse the menu, we got twice what we asked for and felt ignored. The ordering process went fine, and the food was on time. Also a plus was the house manager checked in on us twice. My real problem with Garcia's was the food. Overcooked refried beans, over salted and seasoned rice, the cheese enchilada was stuffed to the gills with white onions, and the bean and cheese burrito was basically just a folded flour tortilla, I could not tell if there was actually anything inside, or if I was just mopping up the side of beans. The chips and salsa were also a miss - very bland, dry chips and an unexciting red salsa with no kick. The only thing half way decent was the basic beef taco which was a pleasant surprise. I did not finish my whole meal, and I doubt I'd want to return unless I have a group function to attend. The service was OK, the food was underwhelming.

Went for lunch with a group of coworkers and was fairly impressed. They have several selections on the menu that are lighter for those of us trying to eat healthy, as well as huge combo plates for those that aren't. The atmosphere is pretty cliché, but not overly so. And there seem to be plenty of seats to accommodate the lunch crowd. I had the Lite Spinach and Chicken Quesadilla and it was really good. It came with a side of veggies and pinto beans (both of those could have used a bit more flavoring), but the quesadilla itself was great. Everyone else at my table got a combo of some sort and really enjoyed it (thought most of them couldn't finish it). A few people got the tortilla soup and really enjoyed that as well. I'd go back again. Quick and easy lunch/dinner place with some healthy options.

Went here recently for family happy hour. Drinks in the bar are 2 for 1 and reasonable in price. However, one person had a strawberry margarita and said they couldn't even taste the alcohol. They also bring both of your drinks out at the same time which makes one get warm if you don't drink fast enough. Nice little salsa bar with various chips, salsas and condiments free of charge in the bar during happy hour. Several had the chicken fajitas which they liked. Green chile was tasty and service was decent. Not a favorite but somewhere I'd do for happy hour again down the road...

Decided to try them because they are really close to our Hotel, and am sure glad we did. This place is awesome. It might be a little dated, and the decor is a bit overdone, but the quality and value of the food far overcome any misgivings upon entering this Jungle of a place. My wife had the Tampico Stuffed Chicken and it was awesome. I had the Grilled Margarita Chicken Burrito and it was equally as delicious. Our daughter had the Ultimate Nachos with Grilled Chicken and she loved them, but could only eat her way 3/4 thru them before getting full. As satisfied as we were, we decided on the Chocolate Mini Chimis for desert, and those were a great choice. With our two Iced Teas and a Mountain Dew our total came to $49.68 including tax. very reasonable for the amount of and quality food we received. Service was great, and the place was clean. We will come back.

I've been eating at Garcia's since they were a chain restaurant with several locations in Denver, but this visit was a huge disappointment. My favorite dish has always been the Pollo Fundido, but tonight it was awful. The chicken looked and tasted like it came from a can. It had no flavor and neither did the rice. The chips and salsa were ok, but they aren't very good compared to other Mexican restaurants. I think the restaurant has raised their prices and lowered the food quality which means I won't be back!

Food & service is always good and LOTS of it so don't worry about sharing. I had the El Magnifico sampler and it was very large for $12.99. Pepsi products which was my only downer for this Coke man. Great deserts IF you have room. Easy access to I-25 so be sure to make the drive.

Went for a quick dinner while on business. Got there at happy hour, ordered a Margarita and got two deliverd; two for one during happy hour. Ok, I'll start the first and see how much of the second I want. Well, consumed both and not even a buzz. Apparently happy hour drinks are alcohol free. Food was good for the price.

Food is very good - staff is friendly & prompt. Ambiance is as you would expect - "old school Mexico." I had the chicken fajitas & they were delicious. I'd definitely go back again!

This is a perfect example of your average Mexican restaurant in Denver. While it does nothing particularly bad, it does nothing really well, either. I tend to find myself drawn to their happy hour more than their normal menu. 2-for-1's! Chips and Salsa bar is nice, and the appetizers, while far from great, are uber cheap, so no complaints. 3/5

This is very much American-Mexican fare. I've eaten here a few times and it's always tasty. My 5 year old really likes it because they serve orange slices with the kid's meal and it comes with.... wait for it..... a toothpick topped with a paper Mexican flag stuck in one of the orange slices. My kid thinks that toothpick flag is the greatest thing in the world. She collects them and has claimed many things for Mexico. The service is quite good. I like the decor, it's nice and tacky. I also like the food because I like things like quesadillas smothered in jalapeños and cream cheese - yummy!

Fun place, loved the ambiance and the decor. I ordered the street tacos, which were great ! Love the spiced meat and and onions and cilantro inside the double corn tortillas with a wedge of lime on the side. My only issue was that this was served on one of those scorchingly hot plates they use for the other dishes usually...which dried out my lovely tacos on one side and made them chewy. Had they not hot-plated them, perfection !

The food is great but the customer service needs work. We arrived just after lunch at about 2:00. We had to wait in the lobby for a couple minutes before they even knew anyone had come in. Once we were seated service was great until we received our order. Once our order was received we only saw our waiter one more time before we received our check, which we had to request. Once we requested our check we waited about 5 minutes and then just got up and looked for our waiter to get it. The food was worth the visit, but the customer service will have to improve before I would consider being a regular at this location. Very few customers at the time of our visit.

Hey, it's not remarkable but at least it's consistent. Their happy hour is nothing to write home about, but it's acceptable. Go in with chain-restaurant expectations and you won't be disappointed.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
