Pretty good. Chip and salsa are great! Flair as were good but could have used more shredded beef to fatten them up. Rice was a bit al dente, but the taste was good. Guacamole was fresh, well seasoned and tasty. The beans, green chile and enchilada sauce could use some work, still tasty. Overall, good food at great prices.

I bought the carne asada for dinner thinking it was going to be good because this restaurant had good reviews. Before I even took a bite I was disappointed by the minuscule steak that I received in addition to the pico de gallo only being a small amount of shredded iceberg lettuce with a few tiny pieces of diced tomatoes. The steak was chewy, cold, and tasteless. Definitely a waste of money.

Decent cheap mexican food. Been here a few times with coworkers and the service is always fast at lunch, but the restaurant is regularly pretty empty. Green chili isn't bad, a bit bland and could be a little spicier for my tastes. Tamale plate is $8.25 for 3 tamales, rice and beans. Can't beat that.

Currently my favorite/go-to spot for Mexican food. As soon as you sit down, order the queso. Sure, their house salsa is great, but you need to order the queso. Do it. Do not question me. Obey. Eat. Happiness will ensue. The Carne Adovada is delicious. If you're unsure of what to try, go for one of their burritos. More than enough to fill you up and very affordable. They also serve breakfast all day long. Overall, the pricing is great. We had two drinks, queso and two entrees for about 30-35 bucks. Been back a few times, already.

I feel bad that this place went from a well seen location (colorado blvd and 8th ave), to an almost invisible little strip mall deep in a neighborhood. That being said, it would be awesome if they could up the ante and make this the go-to mexican spot in the Mayfair area. The salsa is a big standout for me, nice and spicy. Everything else, was just okay. Mind you, I did order a la carte on this visit, a smothered bean burrito and a guacamole tostada. The refried beans were pretty good, but the sauce that it was smothered in was bland and super mild for my taste. The tostada had maybe a slather of plain guacamole and piled high with lettuce to compensate for the lack of what is supposed to be the main ingredient. My friend enjoyed his enchilada plate, noting they were crispier than the usual soggy kind. As far as the margaritas, the strawberry one was so so so sweet, straight up strawberry syrup. The house marg was just fine. The inside is very cute and could accommodate a good amount of people. Maybe I'll return to try some of their specials plates, or to buy some of that salsa to take home.

The salsa is really good and the waitresses are really attractive. I was surprised that even though most of the staff was cleaning, I noticed a lot of dirt on the tables. As for the food, it is theist bland Mexican food in Denver. It didn't taste bad - it just didn't taste like anything. I don't understand how you can completely cook the flavor out of meat and cheese, but they were successful at that. I might back for a beer and chips/salsa, plus check out the waitresses, but I don't plan on eating here when Denver has some of the best Mexican food on America.

This location on the corner of 9th and Jersey has changed names/ownership multiple times, and this is BY FAR the worst one so far. We ordered Mexican Chile Rellenos, and the peppers were burned so badly, they were actually black. They tasted so awful, we scraped off the cheese and toppings to see what was inside and found burned "peppers" - it was hard to even tell what they were. Absolutely the worst Mexican food I've ever eaten. It was a take-out order so we couldn't complain. Everything else was mediocre, except for the fries that were still frozen - those were bad too, obviously. Not sure how long this place will last!

New addition to the Mayfair neighborhood. I tried a ham breakfast burrito. It was cooked to order as there was no one in the restaurant at 10am on a Saturday. It was hot, fresh and delicious. The burrito is filled with eggs, ham (slices not chunks), green Chile, cheese and potato. In size it is larger than Santiagos but smaller than Sabor. It was $2.99 plus tax so in-between a Santiagos burrito ($2) and my other favorite, which is Sabor at $3.47 including tax.

I can walk to this place from my house, so I wanted it to be good. Based on our first outing, it is worth it to drive elsewhere. I am adding a star because while everything else was sub-par, the place is sincere and I hope it pulls it together. The service was extremely poor--and I mean they rounded the bases--slow to get drinks out, never refilled them, food was slow and then our orders were incorrect, with additional items (like tortillas for fajitas) never coming at all. Once we got the food, it all just tasted under-seasoned and overcooked. This place would be a great candidate for that show "Kitchen Nightmares". I think the people are good and I want them to do better, but someone that knows how to run a Mexican Restaurant serving Mexican Food needs to step in and provide a boost.

I love coming to this restaurant on my lunch break. The food is absolutely delicious and served quick. The service has never been an issue for me like some of the other reviews. The owner is always really friendly and making sure all the customers are happy and satisfied. The steak and bean burrito is freaking awesome and my server Jessica is super sweet... I always ask to sit in her section!

We visited this location yesterday since my hubby and I both had the day off. We arrived about 1:30 and there was only one other customer. We joked that we had the place to ourselves, but the high ceilings, lack of other customers and low music all made for our conversations to be amplified so everyone around could hear them, the other customer & employees. So it was not very intimate, or comfortable for conversation. The server was nice enough, but had no training. She didn't ask us about getting an appetizer, but rather asked, "You know what you want?" She left our soda empty for over half the meal. At one point I had consumed all of my soda AND my glass of ice water and she was still not around. When she did return to fill my water, she reached across the table, over my plate, and spilled water onto my cell phone! Good thing it was in a cover! All I got was a halfhearted "sorry" and she walked away before I could even ask her for another napkin. We were appalled at this. An experienced server would be mortified to pour water on a $600 phone. We could see her sitting with a gentleman eating a meal herself while we were eating- no wonder she had no time for us! The food was bland. Essentially, all of it tasted good once we poured a ton of salt on it. Salsa was good (on the salty side, ironically), as was the queso dip. We had been excited to check the place out; my husband's aunt was a fan of another location. We will not be back. There are too many good Mexican Restaurants out there for this one to get a second try. Wish I had read all the other reviews on here first! Would have saved the trip.

Excellent queso and salsa. Hands down the best around and better than some places nearby that have more stars. Ambience is like a neighborhood gem: local and unassuming. Food is really like texmex queso and salsa. So happy we found this place!

For basic Mexican food, this place is great! And I like the new location, in the eastern part of Denver's Mayfair neighborhood. The strip mall it's located in is a bit uninspired, but Four G's is a great addition to the area, and I think will see a steady stream of business. I used to frequent their Colorado Blvd. location, but parking was always a nightmare, so their new location is definitely an improvement. Parking wasn't a problem when we showed up on opening night, and they have a nice patio area out front, if the weather is fine. I look forward to my next visit!

I live two blocks from here and was excited to try yet another restaurant in this location, but I regret to say that this place seems to be carrying on a long tradition of mediocrity. Granted, I've only tried it once but my food was very plain and uninspired. I may go back but only because I am unwilling to accept that this location is lost to another lame restaurant.

We went here as a family member had heard good reviews and was excited to try the new place where all of her other favorite restaurants have been. Seating was prompt when we got there, the owner looked to be the one moving our tables and chairs around who was physically struggling (bless his heart) to do so, so we helped instead. The salsa for the chips was spot on, it wasn't too spicey nor salty, and the chips were nothing to write home about. The extra star is for the nice old man trying to help out and the chips and salsa. The bad is everything else. We sat down and it took about 40 minutes for a pitcher of margs, a beer, and a soda to arrive. The Margs were obviously from a mix and really lacked on the tequila, tasting more like sweet and sour mix than a margarita. We ordered drinks three times through the night, and each time it took 40+ minutes to get them to the point our final pitcher was ordered when we ordered our second one since we knew there'd be no hope otherwise. The food was a problem of its own. The waitresses mixed up which combination plate people at the table received since it all looked the same. Half way through accepting that they had lost their minds our members complained outloud and swapped the plates back. Even after the right dish was in front of the right person there were problems like wrong meat used, sauce asked on the side, 2 cold tortillas given for a plate of sizzling fajitas. The quality of the food despite the mix ups was subpar on its own. The steak was relatively bland and well overcooked, their chicken had no seasoning, and they expected fajitas to be dressed with less than a spoonful of cheese guac and sour cream. The waitress was nice though quite slow, though the location was busy for a Thursday night. I would not go back again, and feel I am being quite kind offering 2 stars.

Ok-gonna be totally honest. The food was....meh. Really good margaritas! Sat on thè patio & spent the entire time shooting away flies and wasps. I think a couple of fly/wasp traps would help a great deal. Service was fast once order was placed. Our server didn't seem well trained and had to return a couple of times to get our order straight. Happy hour margs are $3. I definitely would go there for an occasional happy hour and an appetizer--if the bug situation were resolved. No problem with parking

Ordered #9, 3 beef enchiladas. 1st time in 40+ years of ordering enchiladas that I got a plate with no red sauce. Was I supposed to ask for it? Enchiladas with no red sauce is like taco without a shell. They consisted of ground beef, corn tortilla and melted cheese on top--yep that's it.

  • Grace C.

The food was quite good and I really enjoyed the chips/salsa but the service was pretty horrible. We got our drinks/chips/salsa right away and the food arrived at a good time but part of the order never made it out although the server had assured us it would. We also asked for Cholula that she neglected to bring out. In fact, we never saw her again until we were almost done with our meal. We reminded her about the other items and she asked if we still wanted them. We did. She finally brought what we asked for but never apologized. Most restaurants will comp the items that didn't get to the table but this restaurant did not.

We were hoping for a good Mexican Restaurant on this side of town but were truly disappointed with the food. The salsa was good but the beans and rice were terrible, had a strange taste as did the chile. The chorizo tasted like vinegar. Will not be going back. Hard to beat El Tepehuan on Broadway!!!

Not sure what happened to 4 Gs. We loved the food and service when they were on Colorado blvd. they had to move found a great location close by but we are told lost there cook and staff. The place is nothing like is once was. We have tried it 5 times and it gets worse each time. We even said to the owners on two occasions that the rice and beans has changed for the worse, no flavor lack of spices. He said they were working with the new cook. But, no improvement. Food is now bland. Green chili is watery. Had the chorizo in a breakfast burrito tasted like vinegar. Hope they come around. But for now looking for a new place.

My first trip here was thanks to a groupon deal. $15 worth of food for $8, not bad. I got the Carne Asada. That dish is like a burger, you really shouldn't mess that up. Happy to report that it was good. The skirt steak was tasty and cooked well, not greasy at all. Got the flour tortillas with it and the refried beans were excellent. Got the flan and it was pretty good.

Terribly disappointing! I have eaten Mexican food all over the Southwest, in small towns and large cities, but never anything as dull and tasteless as what is served here. Everything is drowned with a watery "soup" that looks like dishwater with a few pieces of chiles. How anyone can have the audacity to serve unseasoned food in a Mexican restaurant is beyond me. No seasonings in the gloppy beans, dried rice, and dab of guacamole (for which you pay extra). Not even salt or pepper. I am stunned. The service leaves a lot to be desired, and we had to wait and wait for our check even though there were only a handful customers at lunch time. I won't be back, and want to give a heads up to those who might save themselves a very disappointing restaurant experience. Cannot understand why they are even open, and perhaps the bar traffic foots the bills, because it certainly is not the lackluster food that they try to pass off as Mexican. This location has slowly but surely gone downhill, and I think it has finally hit bottom. The ambiance is that of eating in a garage. This little restaurant could be a goldmine to someone who knew what they were doing, and just served a simple menu with tasty, good quality food. There is a dearth of restaurants in this area, and it is growing by leaps and bounds. It is so sad that we locals have such a limited number of places to eat, that are good, between Colorado Boulevard and Monaco.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
